Ring of Horrible Wrestling will be weeks old by the time it starts airing. Presumably, the profane chants directed toward a bigger and better wrestling organization will be edited out of the show.
On the first episode, the World’s Greatest Tag Team defeat the Kings of Wrestling. On the 2nd episode, the Generic Jobber El Generico wrestles Jay Lethal, a vanilla midget, to a time limit draw. Then, that scumbag Jim Cornette comes out and re-starts the match. Lethal beats the Generic Jobber after the re-start. On the 3rd show, Davey Richards succesfully defends their so-called “World” Title against Roderick Strong. On the 4th show, those morons the Briscoes defeat the All Night Express in a crappy match to get a tag team title shot. Each episode also features a 2nd match containing ROH undercard wrestlers that nobody cares about.
There, you no longer have to waste your time watching ROH. That time would be better spent watching TNA or the Best of WCW Nitro DVD anyway.
Let’s see there were no profane chants, you are completely immature for posting spoilers, and you clearly don’t understand ROH based on the nicknames you have for the wrestlers. Eric Bischoff is a perfect name for you since you clearly don’t understand how wrestling companies or common decency work.
I’ve heard that a lot but I have limited interest in driving an hour and a half to Louisville to sit in a tiny building (the place has a max of 500 seats I think) and watch four hours of TV tapings. I’ve heard good things about their shows live though. I like the show in small quantities but watching it straight through gets old as the styles get way too similar as the show goes on.
I can understand that. There is an intermission in the middle and if they have their shit together (which they didn’t on Saturday) you are in and out in about 3 hours or so. There will also be promos and such to break it up, which regular shows don’t have. Plus, it’s tough to beat a $10 ticket.
Yeah I figured as much but TV tapings are draining. Granted the ones I went to were WWF ones in the early 90s which if they were 5 hours it meant it was a short night.
I would agree with that. At least keep it under consideration. ROH shows are a ton of fun, and even if you don’t love it, you can at least say you tried it. Like I can with broccoli.
I was at the tapings. The matches are much more TV style than usual (as you would expect) so I feel as though you will enjoy them more than you do regular ROH, which I’ve come to accept we will never agree about.
It being just an hour a week helps a lot. ROH shows go LONG which makes them a bit of a chore to sit through. I think I can handle short doses though.
They did a good job of making the matches feel like ROH matches but kept the length down. For example, the Roderick Strong vs. Davey Richards match was definitely under 20 minutes, but they put enough action in it that it felt comparable to their much longer encounters as far as quality and action.
I can live with long matches as long as they don’t become the same stuff over and over again. That’s my main issue with any Davey Richards match: the last ten minutes are nothing but “Finisher, kickout, lay around, finisher, kickout, lay around, finisher, finisher, finisher, pin.”
Isn’t that what all big matches are though? Taker vs. HBK I & II, Taker vs. HHH, Punk vs. Cena. Those 4 off the top of my head fit either the same, or an extremely similar one. I’m not criticizing it at all, as I enjoy it and tend not to agree with most of the criticisms of the style. It isn’t fair, however, to criticize one guy for wrestling that style when it is prevalent is all companies and levels in the industry today.
See here’s the thing though: those are rare occasions. All of those guys have had regular matches that end with one finisher. With Richards, I have never seen a match that isn’t the exact same type of ending. Literally, not a single one. Also I like the WWE style far better than the strike heavy ROH style.
He did against Cabana at the 9th Anniversary Show, but that was an undercard match. He’s been wrestling almost exclusively in main events for the past year or two.
The style thing is totally understandable. I share a lot of the same wrestling tastes as X, but I can’t stand lucha and he is a big fan of it. Tastes differ.
What I would recommomend to you, however, is going to a show. The next ROH TV tapings are at the Davis Arena in a couple months. The taping shows don’t flow as well as the regular ones, but as someone who was at MITB this year, I can confidently say that ROH shows, even moreso than WWE, are a completely different experience in person.
