Kane’s Return with the Mask

What do you think about this?

I’m not sure how to take this yet.  Kane is one of my favorites, but I’m really not sure what the point is in having him (seemingly) come back as a heel.  It’s too early to tell obviously but this could be kind of stupid.  It gives Cena something else to do until probably the Rumble, but after that I’m not sure.

As for the mask…..why?  He had his greatest run without it and his second best run with the original.  This one now is like the one he had in 02-03, when he had his worst results (no world title).  Also, WE KNOW WHAT HE LOOKS LIKE.  There’s my mystery to it at this point.

As for the talk of Kane vs. Taker III at Mania…..no.  ANYTHING but that.

Personally I love Kane going back to his roots so to speak and coming back with the Mask. Its what us Longtime Fans remember fondly about him. Though when he took the Mask off in 2003 he had a great run without it as well. I am glad WWE is giving him this attention as well and he has been a Company guy since he has been there.

I think he didn’t have to come back with his Original Look. Its just an updated version and he looks more demented than ever. So I can’t wait to see what happens with Kane going forward now.

KB, first off, awesome website. And 9 times out of 10, I agree with you. In this instance, I do not. I think Kane’s resurrection last night was one of the better moments of 2011 and a career highlight for Kane. It just felt right for Kane to return to this version of the character in the waning years of his career. I’m not sure if I agree with your point that he had his best run without the mask. Did he have the title longer? Yes. But I don’t think the character was all that interesting after 2004, except for last year when they gave Kane that storyline with finding out who attacked the Undertaker. The glory years of the character were in the past when the mask brought with Kane a mystery… not just what he looked like but what Kane was thinking. You are right that he won’t have the face mystery anymore. But I think people associate the indestructible machine personality of Kane with the mask. This mask should do that enough, even though I would have preferred the original Kane mask. I wrote on the WZ Forums last night that I don’t see Kane maintaining this monster status forever given his age and the constant rumors of his retirement that have been talked about for years. However, I am looking forward to seeing where they go with Kane and glad they are giving him this much attention in the latter part of his career. He’s been a consistent performer and a company guy through and through.

As for Cena, this could help both Kane and Cena if worked correctly. Cena doesn’t need a victory over another monster, but if they build Kane up correctly and find creative ways for Cena to win, this could end up helping both characters to where when Cena finally beats Kane and faces Rock at Mania, Kane won’t just fall back into mid-card purgatory. Orton vs. Kane would be an interesting match for Mania in the undercard. I agree with you that we don’t need another Kane vs. Undertaker match. It’s done. Let’s move on… (Someone should tell Triple H this as well as I don’t want to see that third Mania match either.)

Again, great website and keep up the great work man.
