Build Around One Guy Not Named Cena

If you were starting a wrestling company and could build it around one person not named John Cena, who would it be?  For the sake of this, consider their current ages (as in Taker is still old), the amount of time they appear (as in Rock only appears a handful of times a year) and all other factors.I’d go with Miz.  The guy knows how to antagonize a crowd like few others and it works every time.  Anyone can come out there and smile and laugh and all that stuff, but it’s impressive to get someone that is so loathed and hated to the point where the fans will boo whatever you say.  He’s a young guy and can cause a lot of havoc on a show.  He’s been dedicated to improving his game too and he’s a credible main event heel.  The Hollywood connections don’t hurt either.

I know he isn’t being used and is probably on his way out but I’d pick Alister Black His Entrance gives him an incredible arua and his Black Mass can hit out of nowhere is cool looking and can put down anyone.

What would be your answer to this today, KB?

I’d go with either Big E or Adam Cole. I feel both can work as a main event face or heel effectively. They would also both shine as brand ambassadors.

I was tempted to say Reigns but his health would always be looming in the background.

      Oh gosh.

I’d want someone fresh, as part of the problem is we’ve seen so many of these people already.

Cole would be an interesting choice, but his time on NXT hurts him a bit. He’s probably the best bet though.

I disagree completely. Overcoming his challenge would mean winning a world title. The crowd pops like mad for him and he’s been in the top 5 merchandise wise for months now, outselling everyone on the current roster besides Punk and Cena. He has a rare mix of people who pop for him ; his diehard fans who will stick by him no matter what, and the casual fans who stick by him. One of the only wrestlers in this age to be loved by a majority of both adult and young fans. Couple that with the fact that he’s arguably the most viral superstar EVER, and his ability to connect through the social media, and people will always be behind Ryder.

Actually, Ryder has hit his peak. Its downhill from here on out. Once the underdog over comes his challenge, no one cares.

Well, you’re probably going to think that I’m a maniac for saying this but I’d probably choose Zack Ryder, for a number of reasons. First reason, he’s only 26 years old. That’s 5 years younger then the Miz, 7 years younger then Punk, and 5 years younger then Randy Orton. Second of all, he moves merchandise like hot cakes. Look at sales, and you can see that Zack Ryder merchandise over the past 5 months has exceeded the Miz merchandise. Thirdly, and most importantly, he hasn’t even hit his ceiling for how popular he can be. He’s the US champion outpopping the world heavyweight champion on Raw. Imagine booking him in a way where he would be the GUY in a company. The sky is the limit for Ryder.
