Raw Becomes Three Hours Every Week July 23

It’s on WWE.com also. I’m REALLY hoping this is the pre-show they’ve been talking about. This didn’t work for WCW and it doesn’t work when it happens as a special. I hope this isn’t what it sounds like.

Thoughts?

So remind me. Why buy PPV’s if Raw is also 3 hours?

DVR every Raw + I enjoy the WWE + fast forward button + new 70 inch TV = HOORAY!

I can fast forward through crap and commercials, so I like this move. It means I get more Raw (plus if you think about it, if they do a 30 minute pre show and the overrun usually goes around 15 minutes, they will only need to fill 15 more minutes than usual). Now the only thing they should change is saying Raw is live, as I live on the west coast, its not live over here.

If this is just the addition of the pre-show, that’s fine. If this is moving to a 3 hour Raw, then this is really bad. Most of the 3 hour Raws are just an absolute pain to sit through. Don’t get me wrong, WWE has a sold product, but 3 hours is just too much.

Im ok with it being 3 Hours and it should get more Superstars on the Show each week. Plus RAW can have more Matches and more buildup to the PPVs. This isn’t WCW BTW either.

As a long time fan, 3 hour Raw’s, especially at this point, is NOT a good idea and although the show has been mostly good throughout its history, it was never THAT good for it to be a 3 hour show every week. When Raw started at 1 hour, most of the time I wanted more. I was happy as hell when it went to 2 hours, and even during the Attitude Era, I never once said, “man, this is one show that should be 3 hours”. (And we all remember that WCW Nitro being 3 hours did NOT help that show whatsoever.) Overall, considering all the other TV they have to fill each week, 3 hour Raw’s are not a good idea.

I’m not liking the sound of this. The two hour format works better for Raw than the three hour time slot has when they’ve done those shows. I’m not sure what WWE has in store to make this work, but I hope the three hour Raw are not like 85% of the “special” Raws have been. Hopefully, we get longer matches, better character development, and more time for guys to appear on the show than a 2-hour show. I say “hopefully” because I have a bad feeling we’ll get longer promos, more clips, 3 one minute Diva matches, and other crap to fill the extra time.
