So if he has to drop the title…..I can’t imagine it goes to anyone but Cena and we get Rock vs. Cena II at the Rumble.  I’d love for it to go to Ryback, but that’s just not going to happen.  What this means for Mania is anybody’s guess, but above all else, remember that this is from WWE.com, so take it with a small truckload of salt.

Thoughts/predictions assuming it’s real?

What an awful job with the CM Punk character. The hottest thing in wrestling transformed into the most generic of generic heels.

Quite honestly, this is PERFECT. Almost too perfect. Punk’s heel character has sucked and he’s really had no reason to be a dick. Now, he does. If they announce that he forfeits the title TONIGHT, he ties John Cena and does not pass him. This could ignite a fire in him and force him to do extreme things to try and get the title back when he comes back because he’s so overly obsessed with title reign length and cementing his legacy. It could also be the PERFECT way to set up Punk vs. Taker. He could say that with the WWE title, there can always be conspiracy and crap getting in his way, but if he beats Taker at Mania, nobody can take that away from him. All these possibilities make him a lot more interesting than he is currently so I say strip him ASAP and ligth that fire. With that, everything improves.

It is only a slight meniscus tear from what I read. Should take about 4-6 weeks, he should be fine by the rumble.
