My Radio Show Appearance

The whole show runs about an hour and a half.  I show up roughly half an hour in and there’s about an hour chat between myself and the host, mainly about 1998 Raw.  There’s an echo when I talk but it comes and goes.  Check it out.

29:57 to be exact for those that want to skip and just listen to KB, although the whole show is good. Good show, I’m gonna check this out more often now.

The point the host makes about Gut Check before you come on is an excellent point and I never looked at it that way

That’s one thing I’d love to discuss JJYanks about. Both Christian York and Joey Ryan have said that Gut Check is totally unscripted and there is no real rules on what to say or do. It’s just “impress”. According to them, the whole “I wanted this my whole life” crap these guys pull falls on them and not really TNA. TNA basically is just opening the door for someone to drop a Pipebomb or cut a Gut Check 3:16.

If that’s the case, then why hasn’t anyone done it? I mean what do you have to lose in a sense? I’m not saying to trash the company but say something a bit different. Legit all the promos are the same and no one really stands out from one another. Then a couple become main roster guys and all we know is that they are just like every other Gutcheck guy. That’s why I’m not a fan of the whole thing. Plus, now it’s being postponed and I think that could be a good thing. If they have this OVW talent, debut them as something meaningful. When’s the last time a TNA guy debuted after a series of vignettes hyped their arrival? (no, not a Sting return, a debut). Lets debut someone in a different, meaningful way.

Chavo. But obviously, it’s a terrible example. I’m not defending TNA on Gutcheck. They aren’t exactly picking guys who you’d think would set a mic on fire either. But the door is open to break out and so far Joey Ryan has been the only guy who did something and no one else has bothered to take notes.

As for the postponing of the Challenge think, hell knock it off completely. The biggest name on that list is Sami Callihan and one half of The Naturals. Everyone else sucks and it’s about 100+ names. Rethink that or go get some better talent. Guys like Davey Richards, Apolo and John Morrison are floating around. Having them show off on Gutcheck and cut a promo on the judges would be a pretty decent starting point. As good as a vignette if done right, if I do say so.

Yeah, Joey Ryan is the only one that came in with a character and did something different and not surprisingly (other than York) he has gotten the most air time and even a match at Bound for Glory.

Wes Brisco is the only one where Gut Check was used as a storyline and I wonder if they’ll ever bring it up where D’Lo Brown guaranteed him the spot on the roster and took out Al Snow to make sure it happened. Hope they do, I like storyline continuity
