Great article and this is something I’ve said about Ryder many times. People give me the same response, “He never was World Champion material anyways” and I’m glad you made that point because that wasn’t the point of getting upset. Like you said, ton of potential that the WWE just wasted. And I agree. Very hard and reluctant to get behind someone knowing WWE can pull this crap at any moment.

never got his show’s appeal, or what made him so popular but hey he got over. it was kinda sad to see him on raw try to play to the crowd and get no reaction tho
I hated Zack Ryder. And it disgusted me what they did. And not just to him. You look at such a list of guys that would be in far better positions and would bring so much more interest if WWE bothered to invest just some more attention.
But you look at how a guy like CM Punk, who as the longest reigning champion in decades, somehow only headlined 2 PPV out of 15. His first and last as champion. How they killed Daniel Bryan’s momentum with several God awful storylines in the fall of 2013. How Miz and Morrison went from upper midcard to lower midcard in a year just because. The treatment Alberto Del Rio got.
If WWE ever complains about a lack star power, it’s their own fault. Because they’ve made it abundantly clear, that they are petty. And think of themselves and what they like first before thinking about anything else.
