In terms of longevity he has surpassed him but let me ask you this: Do you think Vince would’ve won the Monday night war with Cena as the top star?

No, but would Austin have been able to drive them as high as Cena has under the creative restrictions he has now?

In a long term sense no but I’ve gotta give Austin the edge in that regard. Hulk Hogan had already set the standard for a star in a kid friendly era. What Austin did (along with The Rock, Foley, Taker and Dx) was make wrestling “cool” and must see tv and he did it as an anti-hero which had never really been done before.

But it’s different era’s I don’t see how you could compare them.

    “has Cena surpassed Austin?”

In what sense? I’d say not it’s highly unlikely anyone will reach that level again.

Is that a little better than just a no?

Overall it’s possible. Austin was a bigger star than anyone ever….for a short time. Cena has been a top star for over ten years. That’s how he could surpass him.

    No
