I am definitely not the biggest DB fan (I actually think he is over rated) but you can’t deny what he has accomplished and acknowledge the gravity of the situation. Best of luck in your future endeavours DB, I am sure he will land a solid position behind the scenes.

I think it’s a work but we’ll see. Regardless thank you Bryan for everything

Or he’s just getting out of his contract and will wrestle somewhere else

    Wow…. Just wow…

Daniel Bryan is my favorite wrestler of all time. I’m not just saying that; I truly mean it. What he did in the ring was second to none.

I’m hoping this a work, but I seriously doubt it at this point. Injuries have derailed his career, and it is extremely sad. I became very upset, confused, and somewhat angry when my grandma told me the news (it was reported on ESPN).

With that being said, Daniel Bryan made the correct decision. He can now go home to Brie, start a family, and just enjoy his life.

    #ThankYouDaniel

Hmm……the cynic in me is feeling this is a work. Or whatever is left of the hopeful fan with a twinkle in his eye suspending his disbelief in a bunch of phenomenally talented individuals that WWE has yet to disheartened fully is praying this to be a work.

I think back to Edge retiring; the last guy who you can compare this situation to. There was nothing beforehand, he just came out in front of the world and told them how it is. Maybe Bryan wanted the world to know beforehand. Or maybe it’s part of the plan.

I hope that if it is part of the plan, then he’s healthy. If not, and this is genuine, kudos to him for being smart. I just hope that if he’s been told he can’t do it that he doesn’t get tempted back on the indy scene, or TNA, or anywhere else.

Either way, I’m delighted we saw Bryan in WWE, and got to see him succeed on the biggest stage there is.

Awful news. By all accounts he’s as nice of a guy as there is in the business and obviously a hell of a talent. Just too bad.

  7. Isaiah Morrow says:

Do you guys honestly believe this crap? No, this is a swerve by the WWE to put him into some storyline. Did Edge announce beforehand that he was retiring? No. This is all a hoax, WWE knows that fans want him back so they will do something stupid like this to get every fans attention back to Raw.

If this is real, which could happen, this would be another stupid move by WWE (#545 I think?) letting everyone know beforehand.

Daniel Bryan is not done with wrestling, maybe WWE at least, but he has been MMA fighting during his free time so that might be an option or he can go back to his roots (ROH), try out TNA and try to elevate the company or got to Lucha Underground with his unique style and move set.

    This sounds fishy.

    • Greg says:

They didn’t expect Edge to retire so suddenly. They found out he had to retire that day. But the commentators did mention hearing rumors during Raw before Edge came out.

What do they get out of this if this is a swerve? Nothing. It is not a swerve. Why would it be dumb to let everyone know beforehand? It might have even been his decision to post what he did on Twitter and not something from WWE.

      • Isaiah Morrow says:

Swerve… Starts talking and gets blindsided by AJ Styles or some other wrestler, Bryan gets up whoops his ass and says that hes back.

Its just not clicking, just the whole contractual issues that go along with this as well.

        • ted says:

Ready to admit your a moron and not everything is a swerve?

Also didn’t help that you tried to put yourself above other fans by basically claiming your to smart to fall for their story lines.

Like all wrestling fans who happen to be humans as well, I’m just….bummed.

The legacy of Bryan Danielson/Daniel Bryan in professional wrestling cannot be understated. Long after he’s done today, people will look back and realize the wonder of the ORIGINAL independent star main evented one of the most historic Wrestlemanias of the new millenium. Not only has he changed the way we view the ‘face of the company’ tag, he has been single-handedly responsible for THE most fan investment in the product in more than a decade (Read: the YES movement). If Michaels and Bret started the debate about smaller wrestlers being main eventers, Bryan (alongwith Punk) brought it to a whole new level.

Today people salivate over Kevin Owens making it big in WWE, the potential of Sami Zayn as an underdog hero, Seth Rollins being WWE’s top guy and all. Just remember though, without Bryan, perhaps none of this would have happened. Atleast not this quick. He was the first ‘indy wrestler’ to make it big in WWE in new millenium. He defied every mark, every smark, even people who genuinely have a good understanding of WWE’s business and made them eat their words. He didn’t just open the doors. He has damn near kicked it off its hinges.

Wrestling will continue. Vince McMahon will make new stars. But even for one night only, a 5-foot, 200 pound something man single handedly rouseda dead and mundane crowd of 80,000 people (who had just witnessed the end of the Streak) and within 20 minutes made them jump in their seats like it was Christmas. And even for that one night only, Wrestling was so beautiful.
That, among many other things, is Daniel Bryan’s legacy.

  9. Kaips says:

Something just isn’t clicking here. In my opinion, he wouldn’t have announced it ahead of time. Something will happen tonight.

But if it is true, it’s a true blow to WWE. Thank you for everything, Daniel Bryan.

  10. Jay H (the real one) says:

If this is it which it sounds like it is then yeah it really sucks but i don’t want to see him come back only to get hurt again and more seriously. You can’t say he didn’t have a pretty nice run for himself in WWE and the business as a whole. For that I can only say Thank You.

This is going to be a hard watch. Odds on the Authority breaking character tonight?

Apparently he had more tests done and they came back not looking good.

Thankfully he made the smart choice.
