Quick Wrestlemania Notes

We’re home and exhausted from a VERY long show, which was an absolute blast live. I’ll have a more in depth discussion of the show tomorrow but here are some highlights in no order.

1. The floor was literally shaking for Rock. I’ve never felt that before.

2. Reigns went from villain to hero(ish) by spearing Stephanie. Who knew it was that simple?

3. The video screen was WEIRD. The big screen that most people watched on (the 80 yard long one) kept going to three mini screens and then did things like starting a WOO whenever Charlotte went for the Figure Eight and keeping a count of Brock’s suplexes (picture coming later).

4. That stadium is one of the most impressive things I’ve ever seen. It really has to be seen to be believed.

5. Really fun show live, though I don’t think it topped XXX.

6. Austin’s pop was amazing and I had to hold my wife back when Shawn came out.

7. I’d love to hear their explanation for the show going so long. It couldn’t have been planned to last that long, or at least not that I heard.

8. I was genuinely scared for Shane when he was on top of that Cell. I don’t like feeling like that and I shouldn’t at a wrestling show.

I was a bit scared too when Shane climbed on top of the cell, lest something goes wrong… They showed this shot from a distance on TV, and it seemed a little too high for even a regular, and Shane is a part-timer non-wrestler.

    Shocking

Hey for everyone whining about how bad and how long this show was, there was a simple solution. Stop watching. If I am not enjoying a show or feel it is too long that is what I would do. I for one thought this was a good Mania.

It was amazing how long this show ran. The pre-show started at 5est, the main show didnt end til around 11:45pm.. that’s a LONG TIME to ask a crowd to stay vested in a show, but I thought the crowd was really into most everything.

I can understand a show being a blast if you are there live. However, watching this live on the network at home was a drag. Yeah, this was about 7 hours long as some have pointed out. That was with the pre-show included.

On my feed, the crowd did pop for Roman when he speared Stephanie and got the pin on HHH. But didn’t the booing continue when Roman was posing with the title belt? I could hear some loud boos right at the end of the show.

It was VERY long and you could tell that people were wanting it to end.

There were definitely cheers but I’d go with a mixed reaction leaning towards booing. It was nowhere near as bad as I was expecting but Reigns was definitely booed.

  6. Bloodbuzz Bunk says:

Reigns had his fans in the arena to be sure. He especially had some in the lower bowl because any cheer he got disappeared as it grew outwards. Reigns got a huge pop when he speared Steph( which was amazing) but soon afterwards I heard the “Heyyyyyy Bayley” chants. Also heard Nakamura chants during the main event as well,

  7. Your Eternal Reward says:

After several hours to think about it this was all the bad parts of 25/27/29 merged into one big who gives a shitfest.

Also holy goodness cut down the time. Five hours is too long especially when you kill the momentum three times in a row (Jericho winning, whatever the heck that six man was and the so called street fight).

Though overall my biggest problem was that six man tag. Why wasn’t it a 4 on 3 handicap match like all the promotion material showed it as? Why not put the tag titles on the line to give people a reason to actually care who wins and loses. Do the texan legends really need to be put over again. We know they are the greatest thing of all time and you were in texas but still you need to think of the future one of these days, a future where people actually care about your new ‘guy’, unlike how people currently treat Roman.

  8. Dorian says:

I hope you had a great time KB, and you’re probably sleeping into the morning.

How was Cena’s reaction? This felt like the RR reaction he got back in the day – was it comparable?

In your opinion, and those around you, did they bury Wyatt by having that segment with Rock and Cena?

  9. Bill Lesnar says:

It is the most disappointing Wrestlemania Bill Lesnar has ever watched.

Bill Lesnar hated jericho vs Styles

  10. El Killjoy says:

The event felt really lukewarm on TV. Nothing outside of Shane’s dive and the Women felt all that memorable. The Rock moment felt kind of great but him playing with the flamethrower, the cheerleaders and the rambling made that segment drag. There is NO justification for it hitting 7 hours, really and at times it felt like they were stretching it on purpose to fill all that time.

    • NightShiftLoser says:

Didn’t it go almost an extra hour? I didn’t watch, and only read the live feed and spoilers, but…yeah, the show seemed underwhelming. There wasn’t a single thing that made me regret not watching. How many times can they give Rock an extended segment right in the middle of the heat of the show?

  11. ted says:

Reigns got booed to hell. Again. The spear did not help in that regard.

    • Thomas Hall says:

From where I was sitting it certainly did.

      • Dorian says:

I’ve just rewatched this main event closing moment on the network; and like I heard last night. There is a very audible cheer when Reigns pins Trips.

Pretty much after the spear to Steph, there is a fair amount of cheering for Reigns.

So again, I really am not sure what feed most people on here were watching.

        • Jay H (the real one) says:

I heard more cheers than boos for Reigns especially when he speared Stephanie and pinned Triple H.

Overall I thought Mania was a solid Show. I agree though a little long toward the end.
