I think you were way too easy on this WrestleMania; this year was a dud plain and simple.

HHH/Rollins, Wyatt/Orton, Taker/ Reigns, Cenas match and the two ladies matches were all so dull and lifeless.

The ladder match was awesome only because the Hardys came back and showed these youngsters how its done.

AJ/McMahon was quite good but could’ve been better had they put ANYone in there but Shane, the guys good but hes just not a wrestler.

The honest to god match of the night from the main card was Brock/Goldberg and thats saaad that two old timers outshone most of the roster.

This year was a C grade at best

For what it’s worth, I sit waiting for your reviews anxiously and I got excited when you managed to catch up. I read a lot of wrestling reviews/articles and yours is my favourite; personal and professional. Keep up the good work and well done on making a living from it.

    Hi KB,

I have been reading your reviews since you posted them on wrestlezone forums as a thread and have been a daily visitor of this website since it was launched.

Although it is great to see that you are able to do this full time now, I am very disappointed with this coverage/review.

Now that you are a full time Wrestling blogger, you need to ensure that you post the reviews on time.
While I can understand that the week was too hectic and it is impossible to post them live, a week’s delay is too much.
As a fan of your review, this is the event that we look forward to your reviews more than anything else.
By the time the reviews were up, I had read it’s analysis almost on all other website and reviews by around 20-25 people along with so many users comments(Generally yours is the first review I read before moving on to others).

If you couldn’t do the live review, then you should have twisted the format a bit.
A play by play review after a week seems redundant as after reading through so many reviews, the words were almost looking similar.
Also, the analysis were similar to the consensus that have formed.
A one week after perspective combined with live experience would have felt fresh.

I will always be visiting this page from next week onwards to read the daily show reviews but just thought you should know this as this things may alienate some people.

    Happy to see your progress.

First off, thank you for sticking around all these years.

      As for everything else:

      1. It was less than five days, not a week.

      2. As soon as I got back to my hotel, after sitting in the parking lot for forty five minutes and taking half an hour to get back, I put up a live report with some quick thoughts.

      3. This happens once a year and is hardly a pattern.

      4. I went to two conventions, three autograph signings and six wrestling shows in the span of a week, plus drove a total of nearly 2,000 miles, during nearly half of which I was sick. I’d ask for a little latitude.

      5. The show was pretty straightforward. I’m not sure how much extra detailed analysis that I can put in on a show like this, which has been the way I’ve done things for years now.

I understand the sentiment but this isn’t something that can happen while I’m keeping this schedule, which isn’t changing if I go to Wrestlemania weekend.

Kind of late jumping in on this, but he mentioned not needing a play by play among other things which I respectfully disagree with as Im in the military deployed where I NEVER get to see a wrestling show (maybe once every few months if im lucky somehow) and it’s awesome to just come here and check out what I missed. I know there’s other reviewers out there but I have been reading KB’s stuff since he started on the forums and theres something about his reviews that separate them from everything else. Just great to come here and read what I should check out or skip on youtube or something. I can easily live with waiting 5 days to read this and if someone does have an issue with it…well I think they have bigger problems than waiting for a wrestling review for a show they already saw.

    • Becca says:

While I’m sure KB is happy to have you as a regular reader, this comment is incredibly unfair.

First, it wasn’t a week, it was less than 5 days after the show went off the air. Long by his usual high standards, but when you consider KB was not only at this show live, but also at several other shows (which he has also written live reports and reviews of), AND on his own vacation, AND, he had a full days drive to get back from the show to his home, less than 5 days isn’t that long at all.

Second, KB DID give us a ‘Live experience’ report with his opinions a few hours after the show was over, and he’s been answering questions sent about the shows daily.

Third, a play by play may not have been helpful for you at this time – I get that – but it doesn’t mean it wasn’t helpful to someone else, who maybe only reads or prefers his reviews. Nor does it make sense for him to have Wrestlemania XXXIII in a different review format than all of his other Wrestlemania reviews – of which we all know he has a lot.

Fourth, Wrestlemania was LONG. Even just watching the show back, without pausing to do so much of the research/reviewing that KB does per show, would take, what, 6-7 hours? It’s not like doing a Main Event show. And when you combine all of the other shows he did on top of this one, I don’t think 5 days is that bad at all, considering.

      Have a nice day.

I think you’re being extremely generous. Wonder what your grade would be if you were watching at home. I’m already looking forward to your count-up next year, lol.
The big problem for me was that not a single match felt like it had any drama to it. I was very surprised that according to this review the matches were all average length because they all felt very rushed to me.

But honestly Wrestlemania was already ruined before it started. About 4 months ago they had a perfectly exceptable card for wrestlemania which could have been a great show. And then they kept changing everything and we got a much worse card then it could have been. I wasn’t looking forward to anything. Shane McMahon surprised me again as he was so much better then he has any right to be for the second year in a row (yes I actually loved Shane vs Undertaker, sue me) but it was still a match that shouldn’t have been on wrestlemania.

  5. NightShiftLoser says:

HHH, Batista, Reigns, and Shane McMahon…

4 guys have “survived” all 3 of Taker’s finishers. One is not like the others.

  6. Anon de Ymous says:

I’m not a big Cena fan, but how many years/matches does he have left… and they waste him on that nonsense?

Reigns always looks like he’s trying to convey emotions in big moments rather than actually conveying them.

Triple H (admittedly one of my least favorite wrestlers of all time) needs to retire. Why is he still getting 25+ minute matches in a show this long? Imagine how much longer this show would have been if the Raw World Title match wasn’t Lesnar vs. Goldberg.

I feel like WWE trying to shoehorn the “RKO outta nowhere” meme into all of his matches makes the endings for them feel flat. They seem like they’re trying to go for the big HBK Sweet Chin Music endings, but are failing miserably. I also wonder if this was Orton’s reward for the ending to Summerslam last year.

Other than those gripes, I thought this was mostly a pretty good show. Much better than last year, which admittedly isn’t saying much.

  7. Bryn Graham Luffman says:

I thought the Owens vs Jericho match was OUTSTANDING. Definite match of the night and an A grade from me. Totally agree on the grade for the Wyatt vs Orton match. The booking for it made me very angry.
Great Wrestlemania overall though in my opinion

  8. Jay H (the real one) says:

I would say 33 is a vast improvement over 32 last year and yeah while it did go long again I felt it didn’t go nearly as long as last year did. The only downer in the Show was Bray Wyatt losing the WWE Title. I like Randy Orton too and i have no problem with him being Champion again I just think Bray should have retained. Other than that I thought everything else for the most part delivered.

  9. Mase says:

Btw KB, the last time the Tag Team titles changed hands at a WM before this one was actually WM X-Seven.

  10. Dmxfury says:

With the brands split, events like WM almost suffer because there is jut so much that ‘has’ to make it in with all of the titles and then notable feuds. These long WM events are almost unwatchable in the future due to the length. Sure you can pick matches but I like watching an event back in full so you can feel the flow of the show

  11. Prophet says:

Not with you about Bray. They had to get the title off him. Just doesn’t look like a champion and the character isn’t one that needs a belt, ala Undertaker.

Now Bray needs to win some feuds. Let him wrecked some people, move him out of the title picture so he can be a monster who wins. Build him up, win the belt and drop it quickly to some face who can slay the monster.

    • Ted says:

What is a champion supposed to look like? Putting the belt
On bray was a good move he simply has to win at some point. There was no reason to put the belt on Orton yet. I only hope it doesn’t cripple Wyatt. Though I have no idea what a house of horrors match is. It doesn’t exactly inspire confidence.

  12. Fox says:

I think a part of your review got cut off during the battle royale. It says “Also, what the heck happened” and then suddenly stops.

  13. Bloodbuzz Bunk says:

I think the crossing the rubicon moment of this show is Rollins v HHH. Either that story, feud, match was hit for people or it missed widely and it sorta effects how you view the show. I personally loved it( thought it was an A- and MOTN). To me this makes the first 6 + preshow an awesome experience with a quickly downward trending show sprinkled with good moments.

I’m not shocked that the Rollins v HHH match has been so divisive though because it feels like a NJPW style match( particularly Okada v Suzuki from New Beginning this year which anyone reading this should check out if they have some time to kill) mixed with WWE storytelling and dash of ECW.

Sadly the resounding dud of Wyatt v Orton was to be expected as the 7 months of build up was slowly tanked in about the 3-4 weeks since Orton burned down the compound. That mystical BS killed a simple compelling story of Bray brainwashing a 12x champ into doing his bidding and that champ finally breaking away in pursuit of eternal glory at Wrestlemania. Like it takes talent to screw up a feud that good.

Reigns v Taker was a really great match until right after the spear through the table spot. AJ would have been perfect at carrying Taker through the finisher spots but instead Reigns is to big to make it easy on Taker, to bad to really sell them, and not big enough to muscle through the reverse tombstone spot. Also Reigns is an awful actor. They were clearly trying to get the HBK v Flair sad put him out of his misery face shots but Reigns just doesn’t have it. He looked like an annoyed child with a broken toy. Almost ruined it for me.

  14. SamualDude says:

If they took about 5-10 minutes off Roman vs Taker do you think it would have been a better match?

  15. Aeon Mathix says:

You just described every one of brays feuds. I knew that match would be a stinker coming in but I never was on the Wyatt train like everyone else
