The New Title….

….might be the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen. It’s the 24/7 Title, which is the same rules as the Hardcore Title without the violence.  Foley introduced the title to a disturbing amount of booing/silence and laid it down with the first champion being whomever ran out and picked it up.  Titus O’Neil won and then got pinned by Robert Roode on the stage.

So yeah, it’s a jobber title and open to all rosters and the belt’s center plate just says 24/7.  But hey, it’s like in the Attitude Era and everything about that time was brilliant right?

Gee color me shocked you don’t like it. People bitch when WWE doesn’t make some changes and still bitch when they do. It’s no wonder they don’t listen to half of us these days.

Yes imagine that: I don’t like a jobber title where they’re literally running around to pick up the title to win it while how many rather talented people can’t make the show? Why would I ever be annoyed at that?

      • Jay H says:

I guess you’d be annoyed that they didn’t try and do something different too.

        • Thomas Hall says:

I’m annoyed when I’m asked to watch stuff that wasn’t funny when they ran it into the ground 20 years ago. It’s acceptable if they keep it on the lower talent but I’m still waiting to see a bunch of people who could make them some money get a chance and this is another setback towards that.

          • Jay H says:

Well and im only guessing here i’d be willing to bet we won’t see a Seth Rollins or AJ Styles chasing it anytime soon.

The changes we need are just to put more effort into telling stories and do some interesting things, not gimmicks. So far, rather than fix the stories, we’ve seen the “wild card rule” and this. No actual effort to make more interesting TV, just gimmicks. They’re band aids, and not good ones at that.

It’s Jay, dude may intern for the WWE with how hard he defends every single thing. How can you not see the poor quality of writing and creative. It’s frustratingly bad.

And from a suspension of disbelief viewpoint, who wants a title where you are on edge and having to defend yourself 24/7? It’s exhausting with no known payoff

          • Guy Incognito says:

Didn’t Foley also say it would be during the 3rd hour of RAW every week?
So it’s 24/7 but only during that hour?

          • Thomas Hall says:

I had to listen to that twice as he worded it really badly.

It’s definitely 24/7, but the third hour of the show is going to be different.

          • BestSportsEntertainer says:

That’s the real problem here. This is a short-term low effort solution to WWE’s problems.

    • BestSportsEntertainer says:

It’s not enough just to make a change. The change has to actually be good.

This is a comedy belt for jobbers. It’s no wonder people aren’t very excited.

  2. BestSportsEntertainer says:

I feel bad for Foley having to announce that.

    • Thomas Hall says:

Same. He’s my all time favorite wrestler and seeing him have to watch the fans not care/boo something out of the building hurt.

  3. Jimmy Pledger says:

So I’m asauming that Hardcore rules don’t apply here?

  4. Mike M. says:

If they want to do a new belt and insist on doing this wildcard nonsense, have a Wildcard title. Do a mini-tournament or multi-man match to crown your initial champion. The champ is always a wildcard. Whatever show he loses the belt on, he stays on that brand. I don’t even like my own idea, but it’s better than the 24/7 title.

  5. Killjoy says:

You know its bad then they’re ripping off DDT who ripped them off for parody but now they take the idea seriously.

  6. Hamler says:

I tuned into raw just to see this. I’m going back on hiatus. That title literally gave me aids.
