Wrestlemania #16: What Should The Main Event Have Been?
I know I ask that a lot but it’s the match the most people remember on almost every show.I don’t think there’s any other answer other than Rock vs. HHH. Yes that leaves Foley out, but having the main event be all about the McMahons ruined it for me. Rock vs. HHH was the right idea and their feud over the rest of the year proved it.
Thoughts?
I think another original plan I had heard before Wrestlemania that year was to have Foley win the Title,Retire,and have the Title held up in a Tournament culminating at Backlash.
That was what Linda said on Raw would happen in case Foley won.
Foley said in his book they wanted to have Rock win the title at Backlash and have the four way with Mania because Vince thought that more people would buy Backlash that way.
To give Foley a chance to main event was nice so I thought this was a good main event.
I guess looking back maybe it should have been HHH vs The Rock in a Single. However I thought the 4-Way was fine as well and they were just trying something different.
Triple H winning that night was a shock to me and I know alot of other people.
The Rock vs. HHH should’ve been the main event for this show.
I agree. Big Show was out of place and Foley was mentally unprepared , his
table spot proved it.
I am not sure if Vince trusted Rock and HHH to go and have a great match.
