This is really unfortunate. I hope this is ala the Daniel Bryan “firing” and Jericho comes back soon because that would be a damn shame if this is the end of his WWE run. That Jericho/Orton feud probably just got scrapped.
This is tame compared to how Shawn Michaels treated the Canadian flag years ago. It’s been a tradition in wrestling for the foreign villain to insult the nation they are in. Back in 1997, Bret and HBK got cheap heat by insulting the other’s home nation on a weekly basis. As JBL said in his response to this, ten years ago, this would have probably been okay. But today, WWE needs to maintain international relations for business, and this sort of tactic to get cheap heat likely won’t be tolerated anymore. Whoever thought of doing this (Jericho or anyone else) should have done some research to make sure it was legal or not.
My how the times have changed. I bet he didn’t even think nothing of it.
