I don’t think Shawn Michaels’ back was as bad as everyone was made to believe. I mean, this was a guy that a year earlier faked a knee injury and said his career was over. I have no doubt it was sore, but I think he was overselling it in the match to make people feel sorry for him. Strange he was supposedly too injured to work yet could still take bumps at his wrestling school

I have always had a soft spot for this show. Such fantastic moments. The biggest star wrestling will ever have ascending to the throne. The undertaker, kane match was always a great match to me. An example of over the top nonsense done well.

The HBK flair flip is one of my least favorite visuals in wrestling history. Just gruesome..

What’s interesting is that people tend to forget there were two questions going into the Austin/Michaels match. Not only with Shawn’s back but also if he would actually do the job. Everybody was skeptical that Michaels would do the ring thing and put Austin over, considering his history of losing titles without actually being pinned. Fortunatley he did do the right thing for once and he WWF was better for it.

I think there was one more story to this. I think Taker apparently told Shawn to do the job or he will have to deal with him.

Actually, the story apparently was Undertaker was still dressed up in his gear and sat in ‘Gorilla Position’ during the Austin/Michaels match. He hadn’t actually made any threats towards Shawn, but if he had tried anything funny and failed to do the job, ‘Taker would’ve been waiting for him and it would ‘Been a LONG night’ for poor Shawn. But Shawn dropped the title, so ‘Taker walked back to change.

The Kane/Undertaker match is the perfect example of a latter-day Hulk/Andre (albeit not at that level) in which the atmosphere and drama make up for the in-ring stuff. I still laugh at Pete Rose heeling it up and getting laid out by Kane and then probably my favorite Undertaker entrance at WrestleMania is amazing.

I dunno if by that point the “kick out of finishers” thing was used a lot, but it’s still pretty damn amazing to see Kane require THREE Tombstones (with the third just barely getting him) to be put down.
