The Dudleys cost Kane/RVD the match because Morely had suspended them (without pay) and they turned heel (to get their suspension lifted) a week or two before this.

“Again I’m not sure what this accomplishes other than setting up Hogan vs. Piper in a feud that didn’t exactly light the world on fire in 2013.”

      Wrong year. 2003.

I was a big fan of Booker T back then. I think he could have had a short world title Run.

  3. Rocko says:

I heard the racial stuff in the HHH/Booker T feud was due to them trying to get a lot of heat in a short amount of time.

I didn’t feel like Booker T was big enough for a match like this. Was there anyone else that would of been a better option to face HHH back then or was Booker really one of the top babyfaces on Raw?

    • Thomas Hall says:

Booker was pretty hot back then. He was in the first Elimination Chamber and was part of the really funny Goldust/Booker team. Booker was a solid pick. The other option on Raw was RVD. The smart move would have been to bring Benoit, who was fresh off the masterpiece with Angle, over to Raw and have him get the shot instead of being in a meaningless tag with Rhyno.

@Mathix This was my 1st wrestlemania too and I’d started watching WWE in summer 2002.
So after months of regular viewing, when they started showing promo ads for WM19 after royal rumble, I was hooked completely due to the grandeur of the event. this will always be my favourite one, just because of fond memories of that hot summer day at my home, enjoying the wwe’s best event of the year….

I can’t believe you thought Rock’s promo went on too long, I feel it’s one of his best promos ever.

  6. Mathix says:

Angle said in an interview a few years ago that if he was at 100 percent, him and lesnar would have been otherworldly. This show does have memorable moments. Jericho vs Shawn is a classic, It’s Austin’s last match and the shooting star (not a good memory, but one nonetheless). Easily above 17 for me, but im biased as this was the first wrestlemania i ever watched.

This was a good show, though I agree with alot of the things you’ve stated. Austin/Rock paled in comparison to WM17, while Triple H displayed the lasting legacy he leaves: abuse of power. Loved Jericho/HBK and Brock/Angle though, and still have no idea how Brock had the presence of mind to kick out after knocking himself silly.

  8. Wayne says:

One of the most underrated Wrestlemanias of all time.

    • Conor says:

Probably because it doesn’t have that iconic Mania moment that lifts it over the top. As KB said in the review, if Lesnar had hit that Shooting Star Press it could be a different story.
