This occurred to me during Raw and while I was watching an old Nitro. As opposed to the new Nitros that is.Raw and Smackdown could use some random matches between guys they don’t often feature. Look at the roster they’ve got. With as many talented guys as they’ve got, they can’t manage to ever get them on one of the bigger shows. I know they’re on Superstars and other such C-shows, but instead of having the same matches over and over again, let some of these guys be jobbers on the main shows. I mean, do we need to see Cesaro fight Kofi fifteen times or Sheamus vs. Barrett so often? Look at the six man tag from Raw. Those were six guys you could throw on TV at any time and get a decent match out of them, so why not use them?
I realize that title dilution is a problem right now, but would an intentionally minor, hot potato type title (like a mix between the old hardcore and television titles) be helpful here? It would specifically make sure that someone like, I dunno, Primo or Santino or Heath Slater could get at least one decent sized match on Raw or Smackdown that would made to be seem important. The point is that it would guarantee a few more of these lower midcarders would get time fighting each other. You could have this title change hands a lot too–even at house shows, even multiple times in one show. Every once in a while have the person who has it go on a real hot streak and win a bunch of title defenses in a row. Maybe that’s an overly complicated solution to a simple problem.
