I’m listening to the sweet Wyatt Family theme (Broken Out in Love) and started to think.Bray Wyatt and his Family are coming to Raw. As most of you likely know, Wyatt used to be on the main roster as Husky Harris. Bray Wyatt is a completely new gimmick for him, which is something that is becoming more frequent lately. This means that fans are likely going to chant Husky Harris at him, which will get annoying in a hurry. Why do fans insist on doing this? They did it to Tensai by chanting Albert and I’m sure they’ve done it before then. It’s no secret that he’s a different guy and it’s not like no one has ever been repackaged before. Why do fans insist on reminding everyone else that they recognize someone? It doesn’t work that way in movies or on TV, so why do we constantly have to be reminded of someone’s past identity in wrestling?
It always depends on the guy. I don’t hear any “Skip Sheffield” chants when Ryback comes out (but maybe that’s because they are too busy chanting Goldberg. Some guys get type cast into a role. If Eugene came back with a serious gimmick for example people would chant “Eugene” and it would never work, same with Tensai. He had a long run in WWE as A-Train, Albert and early 2000’s isn’t that long ago.
Fans like to be smart, that’s an average IWC fan thing right there, it’s not productive to the character in the ring but then again that’s their right as a fan.
I think Tensai is the only guy that’s its gotten to. Probably due to the silliness of the gimmick and the fact that it was just A-Train with tattoos in his face and a Japanese manager.
People chanted “Albert” because he was a longish employee of the WWE. Also a product of the Attitude Era which doesn’t help his case. Looking exactly the same doesn’t help.
Bray won’t get “Husky” chants unless it’s at Chicago or NY. (Prob not even then) because he looks so damn different this time round even I was taken back when I saw it was Husky.

To be fair I think the Albert Chant was more that he sucked, and no one wanted him back in any gimmick.
I was kind of surprised no one chanted “Johnny Curtis!” at Fandango. At least to my knowledge no one did.
I don’t think many people remembered Johnny Curtis in the first place.
That is true yeah. With Husky Harris he was only around on RAW for what? 4 months?
Lack of respect.
