Show issues aside, I thought the nod to Mad Dog Vachon by James Storm during the opening promo (he made a comment about using an audience member’s “false leg” during his upcoming match) was a fun and classy shout out to a now deceased legend.

And was anyone as shocked as I that the main event had…..no referee bump? 🙂

I felt this show had a good deal of potential, but it was largely wasted. Both tournament matches were disapointments, as Magnus vs. Joe really did nothing with the FCA stipulation, and Roode/Storm ended with Storm’s partner throwing in the towel for him. TNA obviously sees no money in Storm as a main event guy, and they’ve proven it time and again by killing his momentum every time he builds some. Even though it was long overdue, it was nice to see the match between Ray and Anderson presented as a big deal with the performers voluntarily coming out to watch from the stage as an acknowledgement of the moment. It’s so much better that way then the ‘forced talent on the stage’ that WWE has given us over and again in a show of deference to the Authority and Randy Orton.

So much potential for a huge show here tonight, with three matches that could have been big deals, and were all presented as such with their video packages. Unfortunately, only one delivered in content and in a decisive finish. It doesn’t get me excited for future tournament matches if these are the finishes they’re going to provide, and another Roode/Angle match doesn’t excite me, especially if they go to the superplex spot again.

    Spot-on review.

Turning Point? The only thing I was ‘turning’ was the channel! Tournaments are so stupid…unless WWE does them. And have you noticed that Samoa Joe is a complete rip off of the Uso’s? And Ethan Carter stole Dean Ambrose’s finisher! Speaking of stealing, the ARE STEALING THE SURVIVOR SERIES CONCEPT NEXT WEEK! WHY CAN’T THIS COMPANY COME UP WITH THEIR OWN STUFF? WHY CAN’T THIS COMPANY JUST GO AWAY!!!
