Watched The Ultimate Legend Documentary

On the Network. It’s bizarre to hear Warrior talking like a completely sane and rational person about his career. There isn’t a ton of new information or anything, but Warrior sounds far more reasonable and calm than a lot of guys from that era. Yeah he screwed up some over the years and did some selfish things, but it’s not like he’s the only person to ever look out for themselves instead of the company. If you’re a fan of the guy, this will make you smile and realize how RIDICULOUS the Self Destruction DVD was.

I haven’t seen the self destruction doc, but how bad was it exactly? I’ve heard alot of pushback on it but never really got any details on what the fuss was about.

It was bad enough that there may have been a lawsuit over it. If not there should have been. They basically say Warrior was the worst wrestler ever, never deserved anything he got, ruined almost everything, took zero blame for anything that happened with him on top and that his promos were completely horrible, because people like Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage made SO much sense.

To give you an idea of what this was like, there’s a segment where Jerry Lawler rips on him for wearing a hat. Seriously. Nothing more than that. Warrior wore a hat on camera once and that apparently screwed up their upcoming match.

One thing always struck me was Hogan being more fair, even taking the blame on himself for how bad the Halloween Havoc 98 match was with the set-up and blown fireball. When have you EVER heard Hogan admitting bad stuff was his fault?

        • Thomas Hall says:

No, but the problem is it’s in the middle of so much burying of the Warrior that it doesn’t have that much impact.

I remember watching it when I was younger and it first came out. Waste of money. I got it as soon as it came out to hopefully get some idea of Warrior’s legacy because I was too young to see him perform. All they did was bash the guy for 3 hours. They go as far as to blame him for the stupid line green slimy puke thing with Papa Shango. Really hope they learned their lesson. I would watch the documentary but the network isn’t available in Canada yet

That man had the greatest send off ever.

I do like how they directly addressed that DVD, noting how it went too far, it was too much of bad blood and Vince coming as close to an open apology as he ever does. It’s jarring to see him just before his death but good to know he was able to mend so many fences before it happened to let his legacy be seen in a better light.
