I absolutely believe Batista vs Orton was booked to headline Mania right up until around Rumble time when they realized Batista wasn’t a face and they needed an audible.

I don’t think they gave up until around Elimination Chamber – that was the first time they really acknowledged the negative reaction Batista was getting and how popular Daniel Bryan was. Up until then, they still had big Dave cutting John Cena promos (‘Cheer me or boo me – I’m back because I love this business’) and the commentators were putting him over at every turn.

Then you haven’t been paying very close attention.

“…but if he’s right about Batista vs. Orton headlining Wrestlemania (which I don’t completely buy as true)”

Why don’t you believe that? I realise you love WWE, but that was their planned match and they tried everything they could to get the crowd into before finally giving up and adding Daniel Bryan to stop it from being hijacked.

Why on Earth do you think otherwise???

Pretty much as expected. At least he got the money he was due and he still get to do AJ. That’s not bad. The injury stuff was interesting and believable.

Still, I think he might come back eventually.

That match really wasn’t very good between Punk and Taker. It was very formulated and you could have called everything that was going to happen. After taker pinned punk, taker looked like he just swatted a fly away rather than not being able to stand after his wars with triple h and shawn. Punk needs to get over himself he got the longest title reign in 25 years, got his big moment at money in the bank, got a wwe championship match at mania, and had multiple oppurtunities but was never going to be as big as he claimed he could be. He blames everyone but himself and it’s ironic because triple h said this in a promo to him in that he needs to step back look in a mirror and think maybe he isn’t as good as he thought he was. He was great, but not anywhere like he made himself out to be. Don’t miss him and I don’t see any room for him with this group of stars rising up.
