According to his own Twitter. I can’t say I blame him one bit at this point, given that it’s clear he isn’t getting back to the top of the company. He was a huge deal for years, but it doesn’t seem like an option again.
TNA hasn’t done much right in their history, but the way they brought Samoa Joe in to the company was perfect. His long Ring of Honor title reign and his tremendous match vs Kenta Kobashi had already made Joe an underground legend. TNA built on that, having him destroy guys like Jushin Liger while amassing a long winning streak. Then Kurt Angle jumped on board and it looked like wrestling Heaven. We got a few very good matches between the two, followed by a Joe TNA title run in 2008, then an inexplicable, embarrassing slide down the card. Booking was obviously one culprit; when Hogan and Bischoff signed, any chance Joe had of being on top were gone. But his own lethargic performances, apparently brought on by unhappiness at work, really sealed the deal. Back to ROH for Joe?
Samoa Joe is and always was a worthless fat slob, I dunno why everybody keeps hyping this guy up for all these years. Indy darling love at its most nonsensical.
Probably best for both sides. Joe wasn’t doing much anyways, he was squandered for years in TNA and if TNA isn’t doing much with him then there’s no real reason to keep him.
It’s not a huge loss but that’s only because TNA didn’t make him into the big deal they could/should have.
Half the time it looked like it was his own fault. At others, it was TNA’s. It’s sad to say but at the state was in, he’s nowhere near as big a loss to them as AJ was.
