Knowing what’s to come, I would have saved the turn. Have Austin turn WCW because screw Vince as it’s always been. I mean, if he’s going to end in WCW anyway, save it for then.

It’s not that simple as WCW wasn’t the plan until a few months later.

The original plan was to not do the Invasion, at least not the full version, for a LONG time. The main story was going to be the Two Man Power Trip over the summer with HHH doing a slow burn face turn on Austin, setting up the showdown at Summerslam with HHH being the guy to take the title away from him. HHH gets hurt, the Invasion gets moved up. Hence why the bigger names weren’t there yet as you couldn’t bring them in with their ridiculous WCW contracts.

True, but I don’t know that I like that idea either as HHH was the guy that tried to actually murder Austin via vehicular manslaughter. Now he’s the hero of our story because what, Austin is a meanie that’s bullying him? Not for nothing, but I might be hard of the guy that tried to end my life as well. Just saying.

I’m glad things turned out the way they did then. With HHH out of the picture we got the criminally underrated Austin/Angle feud. Culminating with a near classic match at Summerslam and Angle’s emotional post/9-11 title win in front of his hometown. One of my favorite moments ever in wrestling.

Da only thing that messed up stone cold heel turn imo was Vince buying wcw. What is yo opinion? Besides his turn being n Texas?

    • Thomas Hall says:

The WCW stuff didn’t really matter much with Austin. I still like the idea but the Texas crowd really hurt it.
