I think the Rusev stuff was more WWE punishing him for making it so public since they’ve actually been engaged for a while. The way he jobbed to Ryback, belittled by Summer and the commentators just mocking the whole thing just smelled of WWE’s usual pettiness.

  2. IC says:

“let’s ignore stories because TMZ said so”

So they should play dumb even though anyone over the age of 5 knows Lana and Rusev are really engaged?
It’s better that they go with realism, ala Edge/Lita.

    • Thomas Hall says:

      Yes. Yes they should.

Back when HHH was about to face Undertaker at Wrestlemania XXVII, it was never mentioned that they had fought before. Everyone knew it, but it was never mentioned. People know that Rusev isn’t really some medal winner from Russia. They know Lana isn’t really his handler from Moscow. They even know that Bray Wyatt isn’t a cult leader from the swamps of Louisiana. Why this one story HAD TO be explained as real doesn’t make sense to me.

Wrestling is a television show. It’s not a reality show. There’s no need to feel the need to tell the truth. You’re telling stories. Macho Man and Elizabeth got married on TV after they got divorced in real life. Today’s fans would shit all over that because “how dare they!” but back then, one of the greatest moments in wrestling……AND IT WASN’T REAL!

        • Thomas Hall says:

Actually I think most fans would say “eh whatever” as I don’t see a big crossover appeal between your average wrestling fan and TMZ.

      • IC says:

I disagree, as you want your audience to suspend disbelief only so far.
Nobody was buying Kane being with Lita when in real life she was banging Edge, so they switched it up to make more sense.
        It’s bad enough they don’t acknowledge Cena/Nikki.
There’s no reason to treat your viewers as morons over and over again.

        • Thomas Hall says:

          How is that bad?

If WWE is worried about treating their viewers as morons (and this isn’t doing so), there are far bigger worries than this.,

        • Eric says:

Morons? So are viewers of another show morons if the show writes two people to be dating that aren’t in real life? I mean, are people morons because they bought that Neil Patrick Harris was a womanizer on How I Met Your Mother but in real life he’s gay? If your answer is “well that’s a fictional show”………SO IS WRESTLING!

  3. Jay H (the real one) says:

And it amazes me you continue to bitch every week but yet continue to watch. See the pattern you hypocrite.

  4. dookie blaster 3000 says:

yeah i think this show was at the most a D

  5. Jay H (the real one) says:

Roman Reigns cut one of his better promos tonight but of course he gets the WHAT? treatment. If anything needed to die a horrible death other than TNA maybe its the freaking WHAT chant. I am so over it that it jumped the shark a couple years ago when Undertaker was talking about wanting revenge on HHH for WM 27 and he got it as well. Plus on top of that Chicago had to remind us that Bray Wyatt’s former gimmick was Husky Harris. As if most of us didn’t remember it.

Other than that I thought RAW was solid overall.

  6. Aeon Mathix says:

Holy shit man. I can’t stop laughing at the booking of the matches tonight

  7. M.R. says:

C+ is pretty generous, I found the show pretty unwatchable.
