First off, the main reason they have a PPV in February is obvious, and also the reason it will never change: money. These shows bring in revenue and unless that part stops, the schedule never will.
Second, there’s nothing wrong with having a final PPV between the Rumble and Mania. if the card is lame it has nothing to do with the necessity of the show, it’s the booking. I’m not excited for more than half the PPVs each year but they doesn;t mean I question why they exist. If WWE were booking their content in a more interesting way, we’d be looking forward to this show every year.
On a minor note, your gripe with the Elimination Chamber not headlining it’s own show is a very minute issue. Plenty of times the Rumble, or a Survivor Series match were not the main event. That’s really not a big deal and certainly doesn’t take away any of the prestige of either gimmick.
Finally, the last few years WWE has turned us all in to ‘wait and see’ type fans. Their constant inconsistency with being able to book a strong show or story has made us all question why anything is happening. however, I seem to remember enjoying last year’s Fastlane (you as well). So wait and see. Does it seem pointless now? Sure. But in that respect so did last years Wrestlemania.
I disagree with a lot of this.
