Well written. 2 more things I would like to add:

    1. While listing where WWE went wrong with her, I think one should also mention the segment on Raw the night after Bayley won the title. Stephanie delivered this big promo (which was actually true as in what she said) about how Bayley had help from Sasha in winning and being the honest, fighting competitor she should give up the title. And Bayley even went as far as agreed with her and said, “You’re right. I don’t deserve this title.” And very next moment, she refuses and says NO WAY. That was a heel move and one that the Bayley character of NXT would never do. This was mis-characterisation and it made Bayley seem like a selfish champion.

    2. Even though the writers and the storytelling is to blame, I think sometimes the added baggage of being this nig NCT star can be detrimental to the progress of a lot of the stars. You see with people like Alexa Bliss, Carmella and Elias Samson, who were not big in NXT and were considered as lower rate additions on the main roster have somehow succeeded more than a lot of the newsworthy call-ups. I think sometimes the spotlight and microscope not being on you can do you good as you can take your time and improve. The microscope on Bayley and Emma (in her original run) and some others have been contradictory to their progress as every week is super analyzed and if you are not the greatest thing in the world in the first couple of weeks, then you are useless.
