Rude? Nonsense? I certainly wasn’t trying to be rude. Just gave you my honest opinion.

See, this is what I mean. You guys seem to be basing your opinions on; “This, didn’t need to be a PPV”, “I expected more”, “What was the point?” So what? You’ll notice neither of you countered all the stuff that I point out as being good, and any show that has that much good stuff cannot be considered bad. What was the point of the Rumble match? I don’t know, and being completely honest, I don’t care. At the end of the day it made Bryan and Strowman look like the mega-stars that they should be, each of them broke Royal Rumble records, and the record that Bryan broke has been in place for over a decade. Maybe we’ll find out what it means, maybe Strowman’s earned himself a new title opportunity. But at the end of the day it was just supposed to be a fun show and what’s wrong with that? We got some great wrestling so I see no reason to complain.

*KB, please remove this one; meant to post this as a reply not a new thread. Thank you. 🙂

That’s because you can’t counter “I liked it”. Well yeah, I know that. I didn’t, and nothing you’ve said goes beyond “I liked it”. There’s nothing I can say that is going to change that and vice versa. I complained because I wasn’t entertained for the most part and was rather underwhelmed. If you weren’t, I’m glad you had a good time.

    • Wim says:

Like KB said, I didn’t answer all that because you can’t counter “I like it”. And I’m happy for you that you enjoyed it. But if really want my opinion, I’ll give it. Cena and HHH has a decent match but with no build I don’t care. Alexander and Kalisto had an okay match, sure. Hardy retaining is good but Mahal shouldn’t be in that position in the first place and we got another bad match from him so I don’t see how that is a plus, besides I didn’t really doubt the outcome. Styles and Nakamura had a better match but still nowhere near close what these two should be doing. Nakamura has been nothing but disappointing in his main roster run. Undertaker and Rusev had a decent regular match but a terrible casket match with an even more terrible ending. I still don’t know what Undertaker is doing here and burying people (litterly and figuratively) while he clearly retired last year. I don’t agree that the rumble match should just be fun. First of all, we already saw 2 rumble matches this year and we even saw the andré the giant and women’s rumble before wrestlemania. Those two rumbles were for a title shot at wrestlemania and the so called greatest royal rumble was for nothing. Breaking records is easy when you just add 2/3 more people to a match and I don’t see how breaking records makes the match any better. The match itself was mostly boring because it was too long and again it’s hard to invest in Daniel Bryan’s amazing performance when he didn’t do it for anything because nothing was on the line. On top of all that this show was about 6 hours long and I was completely drained at the end. Nothing wrong with a fun show but this show wasn’t my idea of fun at all. Glad you enjoyed it though.

Just to be clear, I wasn’t trying to say counter “I like it”, I was trying to say that you guys mostly agreed with me. KB, you gave most of the stuff I listed anywhere from a decent to good grade. I just find it confusing why you give most of the stuff a good review but because there’s just a couple of bad things you give it a “generous D+.” It just didn’t seem fair is all I was saying. As for Undertaker vs. Rusev; I completely understand people not liking the finish considering how over Rusev is right now, but I wasn’t at all surprised. I don’t know how much more clear WWE can be than they have been since 2015 that they don’t see anything special in the guy. And I wasn’t saying that Bryan and Strowman setting records was what made it good, I said they both had kick-ass performances. Remember years ago when WWE trolled the fans by eliminating Bryan in 10 minutes? Now, complete 180.

        • Wim says:

And I’m trying to say that I don’t agree with you at all :-P. I mean that. None of the matches really mattered and even if they did, they were really dull and the whole show was extreme long. I didn’t have fun watching the royal rumble match even without the fact that it was all for nothing. In my opinion KB was very generous with the ratings of the matches on this show and I agree with his end rating. Besides, look at the ratings KB gave: the bad stuff was really terrible! And the staple match was a disaster. Agree with it or not but the review is very well written and the reasoning behind it is explained. I don’t know what else to say.

        • M@$0N says:

There’s no reason to be rude and start doing that ” 😛 ” nonsense. I don’t think anything on this show was terrible at all. If you want terrible go watch the 2015 Royal Rumble match, or Battleground 2017; THOSE were terrible.

I thought that you were pretty harsh with your critique honestly; the show wasn’t a blow-away show but overall I thought it was really good. John Cena and Triple H had a great match, Cedric Alexander and Kalisto had a great match, Jeff Hardy retained over Jinder Mahal which could only be a plus, the IC Championship match was great, A.J. Styles and Shinsuke Nakamura had a FAR better match than they did at Wrestlemaniaand the finish means we’re only going to get more and better matches between the two, The Undertaker and Rusev had what I thought was a pretty decent match with Taker still looking good and Rusev getting quite a bit of offense, and the Royal Rumble match I thought was a lot of fun. You could argue it was too long but we still got a lot of fun surprises, some new faces, Elias looked really good, Daniel Bryan had the performance of the night and broke the all-time record, and Braun Strowman kicked ass in that match, breaking Roman Reigns’ record with 13 eliminations in a single Royal Rumble match and won the whole thing which was fantastic, can’t think of anyone better than Braun to win it. The show had its downside sure, but when you ended it with a D+ and called that “generous” I that that was really harsh and the argument that “this didn’t have to be a PPV” is really unfair honestly. This show was an easy C or C+, or maybe even B or B- in my opinion.

    • Thomas Hall says:

I’m not sure what to say on this as I found it rather dull at times. The battle royal was a lot of nothing save for Bryan and Strowman (Elias did look good) and the rest of it felt like nothing I haven’t seen many times before. For a show that they hyped up to this degree, treating it as almost equal to Wrestlemania, I was expecting WAY more.

      • Wim says:

And what was it all for anyway? A trophy? What are we supposed to do with that?

        • M@$0N says:

Did you see how they stole my finish to the Brock vs Roman match? I have been vindicated by history! Mwa ha ha ha!

  5. Yaz says:

Since Sami is of Syrian descent, I have a feeling that is why he didn’t show up.

  6. #MrScissorsKick says:

    Sure looked like it!

  7. Pugman says:

This show was not good at all like seriously it was a 5 hour boring ass house show. I’m shocked Triple H and Cena got a B+ as to me the match was slow, boring and that second spinebuster looked horrible. The IC title match didn’t need the ladder stip and the the finish to the cage match was hideous. Tbh this was one of the most boring/Botch filled wwe shows I ever seen. The only good to decent matches were the Wwe title match and the cruiserweight match.

  8. Isaiah Morrow says:

Wow KB, I haven’t watched the show yet but I’ve read reviews and you probably gave the HHH vs Cena match the highest rating. Everyone was saying that both men botched a lot of moves.

Your overall rating is also suprising after a lot of B’s. But I’m guessing you brought it down because of it’s length and its uselessness as a big show.

Did you realize as well that the crowd was always up and about?

    • Thomas Hall says:

The length and all the yay Saudi Arabia stuff really hurt it.

Oh yeah the crowd was terrible. They started off hot and then it went downhill in a hurry.

      • Rahul Singh says:

I believe almost all the crowd that were present were casual fans that didn’t follow wrestling on a continuous scale.

They seemed to Pop for all the old generation guys and were dull for the new guys.

So didn’t Roman’s feet hit the floor first? I replayed it and it looks like it.
