Can you review Brian Pillman Memorial Show 1998 (1st one) since it’s available in full on YouTube?

What’s absurd is both of you defending it. Charlotte debuted in 2013 and was given a chance to get to the top of NXT before ANY of the more seasoned women she came to NXT with. Then she came to the main roster with two of them and was THE star out of it and got the title right off. At no point has Charlotte taken a break from main events and every time she’s out there, we have to be told how she’s the best ever. With Roman, at least we just say his nickname and don’t act like no one’s ever done it better. She’s WORSE than Roman. Neither are at fault, but she should get the same heat if not worse for hogging the main event.

What might “add” to it is if she beat Charlotte in a #1 contender’s match, maybe. But, they wouldn’t do that because Charlotte must be protected to beat Ronda next year in a forced main event.

Let’s drive the point home. She beat freakin Asuka with little fanfare because WWE decided that next year MUST be Charlotte vs Ronda. Now where’s Asuka?

Dude, quit being so nice. The Charlotte thing is WORSE than Roman. They treat her like Shawn Michaels’ tag team partner’s gift to wrestling and are so scared to have a title match without her. But it’s worse because Roman was in a team for years. Charlotte, from DAY 1 in NXT, was Flair’s daughter and thus, the greatest thing to happen to women’s wrestling. We had a perfectly good match here and a great story with Becky finally getting back, and we just HAD to have Charlotte?

Charlotte is nowhere near as bad as Reigns, who has been going on for YEARS with the same reaction. At least Charlotte is well received.

But yeah, the booking is hard to fathom.

    • Jay H (the real one) says:

Boy is that comparsion absurd and i like both people but that is an absurd comparison. To me it kinda adds to Becky’s journey back the SD Womens Title that more interesting and now having to overcome her best friend too.

I agree on the promos as both those segments were excellent.

          1. She got pushed to the top of NXT because she really was that natural of a talent. You don’t come across someone with her size, look and natural abilities every day and with the family connection, WWE would have been crazy to not shoot her to the moon.

          2. Little fanfare? It was the match of the night and called an instant classic by several people from myself to Steve Austin and several points in between. That’s a lot of fanfare.

        • EC3 says:

What I meant by little fanfare is, the match was a poorly built contest and nobody in the right mind expected Asuka to lose. The idea was to take her to her limit and still wonder who could beat her. Nowhere in the build did it ever seem like it was in danger, but there we were at Wrestlemania, and not only did Asuka lose, she tapped out. That’s actually embarrassing to book it that way. It’s one thing if Charlotte caught her with something or a quick reversal to where her experience on the main roster helped her cause, but to tap her out definitively like that basically destroyed Asuka, and for what? To make WWE feel better about pushing Charlotte for years?

And sure, she took to the athlete stuff fine, but she was and is still a bad actress and promo. Sasha was light years ahead in NXT but Charlotte got the title first from that team. Then they come up and same thing.

My entire point is that since 2013, Charlotte has been consistently pushed to the top regardless of who else it hurts and the only conceivable reason is her last name. She isn’t more charismatic than Becky, Sasha, or Bayley, she’s athletic and good in the ring, but so what? So are a lot of people. I don’t mind her being near the top, but it’s absolutely egregious that she gets main event after main event. This one very easily could have been just Becky, who hasn’t had that shot in a long time despite being very over and very talented. I was genuinely excited to see her get a shot and hopefully win the title, but now I’ve lost interest in the match and I guarantee I’m not alone. Now all I can think is “they’re giving her the title too aren’t they?” It’s the same feeling I get with Reigns.

I don’t really like Charlotte, and I feel she is definitely overpushed.

However she’s nowhere near as bad as Roman, and no one ever has been.

I get where you’re coming from. Booking is similar. But I think Roman gets more heat because of the depth of the men’s roster. Charlotte’s never ending push is holding back a handful of women’s wrestlers back (Asuka, Becky, Ember, Sasha, Bayley). Roman’s neverending push is holding back DOZENS of men’s wrestlers. I think that’s why it is a much bigger deal w Roman.
