Ya know, HHH has taken a lot of flak over the years for not putting people, but damnit he put that Orton kid over big time in their match. Took the L clean to that Orton kid’s finisher. That Orton kid has a hell of a future now. What a joke! That could have been McIntyre, Joe, or even Sullivan. No, he puts over Orton. Bunch of old guys stroking their egos while the rest of the roster is shoved into a battle royal by an NXT nobody. I’ll probably never stop watching WWE, but I’m done with the Saudi Arabia shows.

Fair point, and I agree on the Saudi shows. I will harken back to 2005 and 2006 when Hogan faced Hbk and Orton in back to back years. Now I know both of those matches were face vs heel style so the outcome was predictable, but in the case of the Orton match it was thrown together and Orton should have won.

My point Hogan Rarely did jobs as a face in order to preserve his character Orton when he was first starting was humbled by Hhh constantly because Hhh was obsessed with his character with being champ. Orton has built a reputation all his own and triple h commented on that again. The commentary team pointed out to the audience that Orton learned a lot from Hhh. It almost felt like a father vs son match. It was no Rhodes brother match and no omega okada 12 star BUT it fit the narrative of the story WWE was trying to tell

I feel bad for Joe though Samoa Joe that is I know he has been injury prone but Wwe likes to push their own creations esp in mainstream main roster. Joes best work in Wwe was in Nxt

These Saudi shows are just a showcase for the video team on the network to perfect their video editing skills. I know if I was throwing tons of money to a promoter I would expect more

Takers retirement match for the aura of his character was with Hhh in 2012 at mania It was billed end of an era and in my eyes that was probably one of the best send off moments for a character like that. I still watch the product but not with the one last time because even if they do retire I can still go back and relive those moments over again. Stone cold had the best sendoff moment when he left because he never wrestled a full match when he walked away. Would have loved cm punk vs Austin the storytelling would be great. Oh well
As for Goldberg ddp carried him to his greatest match in 98 even though a lot of people could not see the finish, but he had his greatest moment when Austin stunned him at mania in 2004

Keep up the great work kB. Love the reviews. Esp the older shows. My prayers for you too as I know you have had tough year

“Shane vowed revenge because you don’t attack people’s fathers (add irony to the list of things they’re bad at these days) ”

The whole point of Shane saying that was that he was a hypocrite.

  4. comadre says:

What’s even more ironic is that they run their own “promotion” that should show them how it works in the form of NXT. Now they really are at the point where they have the beste Wrestling product AND the worst Wrestling product at the same time. Even the weeklies of IMPACT or MLW are more thought through than anything WWE had to offer in the last few months…

On the other hand no and i mean absolutely NO promotion could handle the overblown nature of today’s WWE. The roster is way too full and keeps growing, the weeklies are too long and there are TOO many “Major Shows”. A show like “Super Show Down” gets his own 2 to 3 week build even if it’s nothing more than a house show.

AEW really seems to be the only saviour left for WWE…

Aew double or nothing was much better

    • Mike awesome says:

I agree I will still watch both. But I laughed at Jim cornettes take on the battle royal at double or nothing classic stuff.

  6. B.J. says:

Honestly if Goldberg hadn’t knocked himself silly early n da match this coulda been decent. B- C+ level. But him running n2 da post so hard was stupid. Couldnt they have Taker put up a leg or something???

  7. ChrisWrestlingFan says:

I’m just glad Brock wasn’t able to cash in. All I can do is groan when “The Yawn Incarnate” shows up. This show was a mess with only one match that I even looked forward to with Goldberg vs. Taker, even though I knew they couldn’t carry a long match. Just hope WWE let’s go of the past soon and move on. Hopefully this AEW wakes them up like WCW did back in 96.

  8. Jay H says:

This was definitely better than Crown Jewel and it was good to see actual Fans at this Show who seemed excited to be there. Taker & Goldberg was a bit messy at the end but im not going to dump on it either. Especially with a few factors playing into it like the blood, the extreme heat, and it being Bill’s first Match in two years.

    • Dmxfury says:

So better than one of the worst shows ever…I take it you also realized this show sucked if that’s the bar you went against?

  9. Dragon says:

I think it’s unfair to dump on Goldberg a whole lot. Reports are saying he knocked himself out. And I also thought he didn’t look right at all in that match. I just rewatched it and you can tell on second viewing that he has no idea where he is.

    • Thomas Hall says:

Oh he was definitely off. It doesn’t make the match any better, but it explains a lot. It felt like Undertaker vs. Lesnar with the first and second halves being completely different matches.

  10. Stone Cold Tea says:

I knew this show wouldn’t mean anything, nothing does mean anything anymore , but wtf is WWE even these days? Do they want to do something I’m terms of story and entertainment for the fans? Or are they here to cash in on whatever loyalty they have?

It’s messed up when in the last 2 months I’ve laughed out loud at 2 of WWE’s main events. First you have Lesnar winning MITB (LUL) then you have Shane beating Roman. Of all the people Shane. Shane McMahon just best Roman Reigns. No one beats Roman Reigns.

WWE haven’t put this much effort into building up someone since Brock Lesnar in 2002. Imagine if they had done something like this with say Braun Strowman…. Oh wait… they did but didn’t capitalise.

What even are you these days WWE.

    • Thomas Hall says:

It feels like they’re constantly filling time until the next big thing, but the next big thing never really gets here. Even Wrestlemania felt like it was just a step until we got…..somewhere.

  11. Jack-Hammer says:

This is another event that WWE shouldn’t have wasted TV time building as it was another glorified house show.

Vince HAS to be trolling fans with what’s going on with Shane. He’s petulant enough to do this because it’s his universe to do with as he sees fit.

Trips & Randy was at least 10 minutes too long and had no real reason to take place anyhow.

I was embarrassed for the Undertaker and Taker himself was visibly disgusted when it was all said and done. All in all, Taker looked pretty good out there but Goldberg just plain crapped out. He was out of gas, plain and simple, so much to the point that he didn’t have the strength do do…well anything. He didn’t even have enough left to do his part with the chokeslam. I’m sure the heat did have something to do with it but, at the same time, just one more example of how lousy Goldberg really, truly, actually is as a pro wrestler.

This wasn’t as bad as Crown Jewel, there weren’t nearly as many questionable booking choices, it’s just there wasn’t a whole lot on the card worth seeing and it’ll be the same for Stomping Grounds. It’s already been announced that we’re getting Kofi vs. Ziggler II, Rollins vs. Corbin II, Reigns vs. McIntyre II or III, feels like they’ve fought more and Lynch vs. Evans II.

Vince HAS to know….I mean…he HAS to be able to see how bad the product is right now.

  12. Dragon says:

KB rewatch the highlights of the fans and young kids from there being so excited to see the show. That is why it exists. The fans were genuinely excited and appreciative of the show. Not acting like smart marks like an NXT crowd or trying to hijack a show like the Raw crowds. This is why this show exists. It reminded me of why I became a fan in the first place.

    • Thomas Hall says:

Actually I’d think it exists because of money on both sides. The fans having a good time is cool, but it’s the money. Always has been and always will be.

    • BestSportsEntertainer says:

      Lol.

It’s 100% because of the money.

  13. Man says:

Ive been a loyal fan for fifteen years and I think im finished. I thought this was going to be just another shitty stepping stone to a real ppv, but seeing how the Stomping Ground card is turning out, I have no interest at all. Great work, WWE.
