You announce it in a press release in the morning because it’s more professional and it possibly gets more eyes on the current product. The NFL doesn’t announce where next years Super Bowl is during the second quarter of a random game at 9pm. They do it in a press conference. Also, it’s a waste of a few minutes on your weekly show.

Given that it was already known, the press release doesn’t have the same impact as it would in a big surprise. Also, I’d think they would like to waste a few minutes on their weekly show given how much filler they need week to week.

      • Marky-Marc says:

When it comes to main stream media, once it’s official it becomes a big story, leaks or not. You announce it and night when people are sleeping it doesn’t get coverage until the next day.
They don’t need filler. They just don’t know what else to do with all the time. Heyman is working on that.

        • Thomas Hall says:

….but it didn’t get coverage until the next day anyway.

And on a three hour show, yeah they need filler.

          • Marky-Marc says:

They announced it on Tuesday, it got coverage on Tuesday.
Filler or not, they did it the smart, professional way. Not because of ‘reasons’.

          • Thomas Hall says:

Which they could have done on Monday. So it could be announced when more people would be watching their TV.

          • Marky-Marc says:

Announcing it to the fans isn’t the number one priority. The fans are finding out regardless. Telling the media is the priority. Which is why it’s done at prime time for covering a big story. Not 9pm when people are off the clock.

          • Thomas Hall says:

Which they could have done. Monday. When more fans were watching too.

          • Marky-Marc says:

So you think 9pm gets it out to more people than 11am? Because that’s where I disagree. Espn doesn’t cover WWE during Raw. They cover it the next day.

          • Thomas Hall says:

            No no.

Announce it via press release Monday morning (I have no issue with the press release being the first notification if that’s what it seemed like. That all makes sense.) and then announce it on Raw as well. More people are going to watch Raw and I can’t imagine the deal wasn’t ready by Monday morning. Now, by the time fans get around to Raw, the story is six days old.

Ahhhhh now we’re on the same page. Yes I agree with that.

Man, they’ve given Murphy a push and I am here for it. I hope it continues. Shane/KO does not need to go to the Cell. They’ve been there already and far too recently. I like slightly more aggressive Bayley. It won’t be enough to put off reign number 10 for Charlotte, but I like it. If McIntyre doesn’t take King of the Ring, I really hope it’s Andrade. I think it would be a great gimmick for him.

Overall a good Smackdown that felt like it packed a lot in.

  3. Jay H says:

A great win for Buddy Murphy,I had a feeling Kevin Owens might be screwed over but maybe in the Finals if he made it that far but they did it here. That ending was a little bit head scratching but they are definitely dragging this out which is never a bad thing.
