So I’m pretty sure most of you know that Bruce Pritchard is new director of smackdown. Like brays minions In the house he was just a puppet. Everything that we felt over the summer is now burned down. Ok you are going to hire a 64 year old guy that got hot over an angle that was started in Japan and you give him the title of a director

Much like with their titles belts whatever the heck they want to call their titles now there are no job titles or responsibilities at least in wwe anymore.

I maybe was born in 1979 but I love the art form so much that i followed its history. If you love any form of entertainment would it make sense to start from the beginning? Probably so, because once you understand where it’s been you can understand where it might go

The WWWF started decades ago and it mostly worked in the northeast PA NY etc. Jim Crockett promotions was in the south along with other southern territories Each territory had their own set of wrestlers with storylines and each territory had their own defined champion. It was special because even though it was a work and entertainment it followed the public relations and schedule of an actual sport

Before the reach of cable television if wrestling came on on the tv it was delegated to your local area if you were in Minnesota you watched the AWA. Vince McMahon Jr wanted to Monopolize The situation and get rid of all the territories that got most of our parents and grandparents to watch

Crockett and some of the larger states(I e Texas) survived because they had more financial pull. But the stars that you once loved were now under one umbrella for the most part.

Vince in his hip late 30s thought wow there is this fresh and hip organization called mtv. I can get cyndi lauper to come out and help and I can loan Captain Lou out to her for her video. Ever since that first Wrestlemania they have always used celebrities but celebrities were a lot smarter They knew it was a work but they took the time to study what they were getting into. Of course they did not want to embarrass their reputation or embarass the fan base by calling out to the fan base and say this is all a show. Think finding out that at 4 years old that Santa is your parents. All the many years later if your parents tell you about Santa but you know the truth already are you going to believe them. My apologies to any kids reading this

We as wrestling fans know the truth about this art form and yet we choose to accept the realities of the situation. In any fictional or creative universe there are no rules. You can dictate and make up your own play rules but if you break them you will gradually alienate your fan base. Think would tony stark as iron man really take up a side gig as a sportscaster because after saving the world I can join fox nfl Sunday. Now I know robert Downey Jr is a talented actor but Downey would have to study how an nfl broadcast works out.

Alas marvel and Dc can bend the qualms of space and time BUT at least they stick to the parameter of their universe and try not to stretch their audience too far

I mentioned in a previous post that wwe is not about wrestling it’s not even sports Colin Jost and Michael Che said it’s a physical Saturday Night Live You could say that World Entertainment focuses on oh let’s get the comedy team oh let’s get the ufc guys. Let’s get the boxers. Instead of making and creating their own stars they are so desperate to get mainstream likes and attention that they bring in guys that you can tell are just doing it for the paycheck it’s a big fat check to do silly make believe and I will laugh to the bank. A dirty rotten shame

Wwe has over 200 contracted talent across all their umbrella brands. Back in 2002 when they liquidated wcw and ecw. They had a draft. Stars went to raw stars went to smackdown. If there was any inter brand contest between two stars it was normally saved for a Wrestlemania (think Kurt angle and Shawn Michaels). The matches felt more special as these stars never touched. It felt special. Same thing as a new match concept like money in the bank or bell in the cell as it should be called. It was unique and drew you in Now matches are just thrown together to throw them together. No heat no background just wrestle.

I threw up a question on a forum on YouTube that becky Lynch should fight Rollins at Wrestlemania for the universal championship. After all it fits her gimmick. She can literally be the man by defeating the so called man . If impact can have Tessa Blanchard fight men at their pay per views wwe can at least have becky do that with Seth People quickly responded and said what about Rousey. Do you think Ronda really cares about getting her win back. She was devastated when she lost to holly Holm and for good reason. If they were going to fight (becky and Ronda)they should have extended raw 25 minutes and had that match in Kansas City granted lynch would have had a concussion But my point is is all the heat and build for that match was built up in that one moment. I mean realistically what else more can the women do at Wrestlemania. They already main evented the show

I do believe that wwe is not completely tone deaf. I mean look at the cruiserweight classic in 2016. Over those couple of months they had some of the best wrestling content in years. Problem is wwe saw that and said let’s create 205 live. Again some of the most athletic contests you will see but the show is burdened by all the other content available

I’m not a mArk for any one company. I just love wrestling. I hope aew has learned the cautionary tale of wwe and just focuses on their guys and gals and can resist wwe signings. You know it’s coming. But by creating their own stars they can at least have maybe a good 5 year run before things have to get recycled again

Linych vs Charlotte has became the female eqvolant of Cena Vs Orton back then.

  4. Stone Cold Tea says:

Seth Rollins is a sober Jeff Hardy who lost his crayons but found a lighter and some gas and drank a shit load of red bull. Screw Rollins and his shit ‘Burn it down’

kB I have not watched this raw it’s been a busy day of calls and well wishes. I also found out tonight that my dad has to go into hospice care. Sucks on birthday of all days
I was first introduced to wrestling by my dad. I have cerebral palsy so any kind of physical activity is tough. I can get around in a walker and can push my chair but it’s a challenge every day
My point is watching professional wrestling has always helped me cope because even if I could not jump off the top rope or run the ropes I would get caught up in the grandeur and awe of what these performers do. Yes I learned that everything or the harsh word thrown around by most is fake BUT when your life hurts at times and it hurts inside you got to take a stand and not let it hide find something to enjoy my ride
Ok I accomplished my inner Rick derringer. Thank you KB for what you do. I know some of my words are long and these shows are terrible a lot, but these reviews comfort me and help me breathe easy. Take care. God bless you
    Mike

Egads man. I would say Happy Birthday but that probably isn’t what you want to hear at the moment. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your dad. My grandmother went into it in January and it’s a rough time. I’m sorry to hear that.

  6. Jay H says:

Really bad? Come on man i enjoy your Reviews but you’re being unfair but that’s me.

By the way you forgot to mention the Trade they teased towards the end which i think ends up being Bray going back over to RAW maybe for Rey Mysterio to Smackdown.

    • Jimmy Pledger says:

I’m guessing Cain Velasquez is a free agent? Rey should be on SmackDown since he’s ivolved in the Brock Lesnar storyline while Bray Wyatt should still be on Raw cause of the Seth Rollins feud, so that makes perfect sense. I don’t think the WWE writers know sense (the same people that didn’t bother drafting Cesaro).

  7. Jimmy Pledger says:

What does it say that I’m amazed the WWE has made it 2 weeks without the Women’s Tag Team Champions lose a non title match. That said, I expected Lacey to turn on Natalya not that it would’ve made sense either way as they’re on different brands now.

  8. Killjoy says:

It’s amazing how The Miz changes shows every single time one of these is done. It’s an amazing streak.
