Hey KB, I’m wondering your thoughts cause you are great at noticing little things in commentary

Do you think King was trying to dial in to 97-01 King? If he was, I couldn’t get into it cause there was no chemistry with Tom and Byron. His one liners are worn and he doesn’t have a lot of enthusiasm, and was just hating on the faces to hate on them. It’s especially jarring two years later when MCAfee is dancing on tables and doing everything he can to make Smackdown and PPVs entertaining and generally putting a ton of effort in.

I don’t know, not as bad as JR- New Japan, but still hard to listen to

Yeah it was always kind of a weird fit. I know Lawler is a legend, but his stuff does feel really, really dated. He has also said that it can be kind of hard to keep up with everything when there is so much content from WWE these days, so he probably hasn’t time time to really get comfortable with a lot of the names. That leaves him with little more than his standard stuff and that’s only going to get him so far. So yeah, not a great fit overall.

Yeah, it’s tough to listen to when you’ve grown up on his prime work. Watching Rumble ’19, I just thought “when JBL and Cole flat out tell you it’s getting old, there is an issue”. Sad to see, but everyone has to move on. He’s one of the best heels in history, and third only to Heenan and Jesse in color commentary, but he was a caricature of himself in this run

I like the idea of Black/Taker versus the OC, but I was thinking they may do Strowman/Fury against Zayn/Cesaro/Nakamura, to get the IC back on Braun. He’s always in the sideshow portion of Mania, and they’ve already teased Strowman and Fury working together.

The last two matches nearly ruined a good filler PPV.

The women shouldn’t have been in the Chamber. Shayna should have just been announced as the #1 contender. They could have had a women’s tag match with the Kabuki Warriors defending against some team (Fire and Desire, Cross/Bliss) and Shayna comes out and beats everyone down, setting up a showdown with Asuka on an upcoming RAW.

Then the other EC match could have been Andrade defending against Carrillo, Garza, Mysterio, Ricochet, and maybe Rowen.

Shayna still gets to eventually go over Asuka, the only elimination that mastered last night, and we get a likely much better EC match.

” I know I’m going to get some glares for liking this show so much but it’s another good match in a string of them tonight.”

The build for this show may have been beyond underwhelming, but most of the matches and the action itself was quite good. It fell apart for me during the IC title match and the women’s EC match came off as the most unnecessary match WWE has put on in a long time. Like you alluded to, Shayna ran through four jobbers in the former Riott Squad and Natalya, the resident mother figure of WWE’s women’s division, and Asuka.

All things considered, I think a C+ is a fair rating for the show overall.

The wrestling match of the night had to go to gulak and Bryan great wrestling match and surprisingly STIFF. Was actually concerned for Bryan a little during match
The Black storytelling was nice But once again I can’t stand that wwe airbags or starts storylines too soon. But Taker can’t resist that million dollar check in Saudi Hoping for 6 man or handicap match with black undertaker and Kane vs Styles and the OJ squad(original jobbers) or black and taker vs squad. I know that was goldbergs fault in Saudi but Undertaker has clearly shown that his singles days are over. Kinda reminds of André when his career was winding down
I like Andre I really do. I thought his run as Nxt champ was good and his match against gargano was excellent. However wwe since Guerrero and Mysterio and yes del rio have had a hard time getting a star that can match their boots. I wish I could go in a time machine and wipe my brain clear of all the early cruiser weight matches and Mysterio and Guerrero but I can’t so it’s hard for me to see this new talent without seeing them first
Tag matches both the chamber and raw were there. You can tell the profits are over and if you can get the philly crowd to accept you thumbs up I liked Rollins basically taking charge being the leader. I look for those nuances when I watch. Rollins is a lot more comfortable in his new role and Murphy and Aop at least are not on Main event
Strowman losing reminds of big show getting his mania moment at 28
He will get it back. He will probably come in on pirate float at mania
At this point I wish both shows did not have equal number of belts. The smackdown tag belts just are there and if they are actually giving more time in a match to a the spots or b a story that does not involve the belts what is the significance of the titles being on the line. That’s a problem

Bazler Bazler Bazler…. in her defense it’s not her fault. Granted she was not as dominant as Rousey but it’s always hard to go from a sport to where she was legitimately fighting to now performance art It’s like telling a Legit NBA all star to go back to high school to actually play. The coaches all say to the player you are faster and stronger but take it easy on these kids
If you have to watch one match watch the Bryan gulak match. Gave me hart perfect and angle Brock vibes

Oh and another thing I forgot to mention. If not for the network these series of matches would be on coliseum video in the late 80s or early 90s

For a PPV that didn’t have either of the Main Titles on the line i thought it came off pretty well. Shanya winning the way she did made sense just dominating everyone, the Smackdown Tag Title Chamber Match was pretty insane. I enjoyed AJ Styles/Aliester Black and Daniel Bryan/Drew Gulak alot too.

I think it was dumb to let baszler out early. She should’ve gone out last and cleaned house. That way the crowd would’ve popped a bit more than what we had here.
