Well That Blew Up In A Hurry (Sexual Assault/Harassment Allegations)
This might be sticking around for a long time.Earlier this week, various allegations were made against independent wrestler David Starr, who said that while some of them weren’t true, he did some things that he shouldn’t have and acknowledged that his career might be over. That is a horrible thing to hear, but it was the tip of a really big iceberg.
Since then, wrestling’s version of the MeToo movement has taken place, with all kinds of allegations of both sexual assault and harassment coming out in droves. There are more people accused than I can name and I’m not going to try to cover everyone involved. It started as mainly a list of UK based wrestlers (several of them being part of NXT UK) and has since spiraled out to all kinds of names around the world, including Jim Cornette in a matter almost entirely separate from most of this.
I have no idea what happened here but it is clear that there is something very, very wrong in this whole thing. With so much being said and so many stories coming it, it is ridiculous to believe that there isn’t a good bit of truth to a lot of them. They should all be investigated thoroughly, but you can almost guarantee that a lot of people are either going to be fired or pretty much never heard from again as a result. That would be a major blow to wrestling, but cleaning it up is a lot more important than having wrestlers around. This shouldn’t have happened in the first place and it’s amazing to see so many people having the gut to come forward. It is a lot harder than it sounds and good for them for fighting back against something that shouldn’t have happened in the first place.
Thoughts? I’m sure there are going to be several of them.
I still remember when Enzo Amore was accused of raping a woman just 2 years ago, and all the smarks were so convinced of his guilt just based on the fact that they don’t like him. Then the Police did an investigation and no charges were filed against Amore, and you could hear a pin drop on the IWC.
Seems a lot of people here think allegations > due process and evidence, which is downright scary. This is The Salem Witch Trials and The Red Scare all over again. Few have learned from history, apparently.
Even though some like Joey Ryan have admitted to what they did. Maybe you should re-think defending them a little bit.
We aren’t a court of law dude.
I think it’s a wild situation all around. We’re going to address it on our show tonight. In the coming weeks, we’re scheduling interviews with people in and around the situation to get a clearer picture. I hope ya’ll will be a part of it so we can figure this out together.
And we can add Sammy Guevara as a POS.
So your guilty if in AEW but innocent if in WWE? I see your twisted logic. Everybody accused should be pulled from tv immediately until investigations are done. Matt Riddle has been caught in a lie and I am appalled that they allowed his debut to proceed.
Im sorry have you even read his case? By the way i was fully behind WWE cutting bait on Jack Gallagher and if anyone else in WWE is found to have done anything then yeah they should be gone. But it’s not just limited to them it seems. Impact and others cut ties with Dick Boy and Jake Crist, good i say.
Sounds to me like clout chasing from Sasha. She’s jealous of her best friend so she says Oh Me Too and now she gets a title shot all of a sudden? What a coincidence.
Sounds to me like your clout chasing.
???
There are now multiple accusations with proof against Velveteen Dream. You have to wonder if he’s got much of a career left.
If that stuff is true, he really doesn’t. Anything with someone underage is going to end your career in a big hurry.
Sounds to me like clout chasing as in the Matt Riddle and Jim Cornette cases. Joey Ryan being on there doesn’t shock me really.
Least surprising response ever. You’re disgusting.
Of course you immediately assume victims are liars. You are gross.
What you’ve done there is chosen to side with the accused rather than the accuser because you’re a fan of the accused. Take a step back and look at it dude:
Accuser says “he assaulted me”, you say nah don’t believe her.
Accused says “she’s a liar”, you go sounds believable.
Maybe he’s innocent, maybe he’s guilty, but to jump instantly to Matt Riddle is telling the truth because he said so is shady behaviour. If you want to stay neutral, that’s one thing, but dismissing someone’s statement because the person being accused said it’s a lie is wrong.
How many women have been accused of being crazy by men who have abused them? How many men have gaslit women and told them what they did was fine after abusing them?
I’m not even trying to dogpile on you at this point, I genuinely hope you at least reflect on this and why it is you instantly went to thinking the woman was lying to get famous. And if it’s just because Matt Riddle said so, that’s worth reflecting on too.
Why do you assume all “victims” are in fact victims?
This is great. They’re all clout chasing. Except the guy who plays a sexual character on tv. He’s certainly a sex predator. I used to think you were just a simpleton who really loved his favorite company. You’re clearly just scum.
Really hope all of these allegations aren’t true, but I know that’s not going to happen. Needs to be a zero tolerance policy industry-wide on this.
How many wrestlers can you guess go away from this?
There are going to be some. A lot of it is going to depend on their reaction to it, their star power, what they are accused of, but yes there are going to be some names gone.
