What is the Khali shit even leading to? Ok he gets to go over Taker again maybe Mark takes some time off but Khali already showed he could bury Rey so the title feels irrelevant and idk why they would build to Khali/Rey again when they just did the match and had Rey get squashed. IK khali and Batistia feud for a while but I thought that was in 07? Maybe this year, Rey needs to drop the belt as its just sad seeing him with it when it was built on necro Eddie shit and he got buried entire time because Vince didn’t like him probably turning off a lot of hispanic fans in the process. I think Booker takes it off Rey and then we get Batista Booker for forever because they didn’t want to have Booker drop title as he was on possibly best run of his career and drawing money but they didn’t want to bury Batistia either as he had just come back from injury so its a bunch of lame matches with dq finishes. But wtf does Khali do?

I think in this case it’s just “be big”. I’m not sure they had any long term plans for him at this point and were just more in awe of the size.

Idk because putting him over Rey, I mean ok he’s joke champ but he’s still the champ and khali buries him and Taker HARD. Big Show, Henry, Omos whoever didn’t get pushed this hard. I was looking it up and wikipedia says he got injured inbetween this match and build up to Taker rematch in punjabi prison. When he came back he lost to Taker clean and then was on ECW (??) for a bit before he got a big push on Raw and had a bunch of matches with Cena. He definitely had a rocket up his ass but maybe Vince got worried he’s injury prone? Either way when he goes to Raw he beats the shit out of Shawn, Cena, Orton and Edge and got, I think he had two matches with Cena for title on ppv. I also remember him in 08 feuding with Trip but you could tell the big push wasn’t happening anymore.

It seemed that they realized he had a short shelf life and they got what they could out of him before everyone saw through him. Back in the day you would call it “stealing a house” because you knew it wasn’t going to work long term but it did in the short term.

” Booker is a better choice for the King though as Lashley hasn’t exactly shown an in-depth personality.”

True but I think this excusable based on Lashley working very hard and not really looking green in his rookie year and the fact that he’s so new. I wonder how hard Lashley would’ve got pushed in 07 if he hadn’t left to do mma.

Its kind of funny that people pretend Henry was good in general now after he did that hot story with fake retirement turn on Cena. His career matches were pretty middling and he never really felt like as big a deal as Khali or big show.

I remember Benoit/Finlay being very good, I don’t know why but Finlay actually seems much better in the ring in WWE than he was in WCW. I think Meltzer gave this like 4.5 and Eric S praised it too.
