Good Show, both Wargames Matches delivered though looks like a couple injuries coming out of them with Oney Lorcan and Candice Larae. That one spot with the Chair that Adam Cole took from the Bitter End looked like it sucked. I was surprised Leon Ruff lost the North American Title so quickly. Tommaso Ciampa and Timothy Thatcher was what it needed to be. I don’t know i guess i like Dexter Lumis because it’s a different Character than anything we have seen.

I seem to be in the minority here, but this show did not work for me for the most part.

The women’s Wargames match was a mess. Although, I did like how they initially kept Io out to offset the woman advantage. IMO, the wrong team went over. This should have been a big win for Shotzi. Why is Rhea still in NXT? Her match with Io should have been her send off. Hartwell locked the cage, which made sense, but when it was over, she appeared to just open the latch to the cage.

Ciampa/Thatcher was decent. It fell into the “more long than good” category.

Can Grimes/Lumis please be done now? Please.

I actually did enjoy the North American title match. Ruff has certainly made the most of his opportunity. I’ve done a complete 180 on Priest. He’s one of the highlights of the roster for me. The Austin Theory reveal surprised me.

The men’s Wargames match was ok, but the bar has been set so high, and this felt like it fell well below that bar. I kept waiting for something big to happen and it just never did. Again, in the minority here, but McAfee does nothing for me. Where does UE go from here?

Now my biggest complaint, the annoying banging/clapping noise that they piped in all night. I don’t know whether they felt they needed to on account of having less people there due to the double rings, but it distracted me the entire show.

I still can’t call it a bad show, it just didn’t feel like Takeover quality to me.

One of the very few absolutes, or as close to absolute as can be expected, is that the TakeOver specials are the highest quality of 2.5 to 3 hours of wrestling in the business.

Because of the pandemic, it’s extremely difficult for a show to have a “must see” feel. A live audience just can’t be completely substituted for, the Thunderdome technology helps as do the recorded sounds but it’s not the same. It’s not anyone’s fault and there are too many people out there who still don’t take wearing masks and social distancing seriously so NXT is right in not having a lot of fans in attendance.

Also, there was only one title match on the card so that also has a bit of a tendency to bring things down but that’s a weakness, such as it is, to the WarGames TakeOver.

In any event, the show delivered just like I expected it would. Everyone worked their asses off and delivered 5 good to excellent matches.

I was drunk as a skunk so I was barely paying attention but pat mcafee busting out a Swanton off the top of the cell was pretty cool. Also happy gargano got to win.

Amazing show. Not a bad match.

They’re screwing up the Lumis character. There’s zero reason a guy that is meant to be a creepy stalker should be a babyface. I feel like him doing the same thing to the female talent would probably make him a massive heel, but in 2020 a publicly traded company can’t do that. Also I think like Elias he would be better suited for RAW/SD.

Quick question. The match times for War Games. I’m guessing your time is from the first action, not when the match “officially begins” when all 8 combatants are in the rings, correct?
