I don’t get shaken up by wrestling deaths too often but what the heck man? Apparently he had some kind of a non-Covid lung issue and passed away after spending time at the Mayo Clinic. His last match was against Cody in the dog collar match for the TNT Title on October 7 and he hasn’t been mentioned since. There is nothing good to say about this and that is absolutely terrible. If any kind of a GoFundMe or anything is put up for his family I’ll edit it in here.
Also, this is part of a really cool series WWE did called Formerly Known As, looking at a wrestler’s rise from their beginnings to WWE. Luke Harper was featured and it’s worth a look:
Boy this year has been something else. Just unreal news. Loved him in the Wyatt Family and then when he and Erick Rowan were repackaged as The Bludgeon Brothers. So sad, RIP Luke Harper/Brodie Lee.
Man, this sucks. Absolutely heartbreaking. RIP.
I saw spoilers and apparently on December 16th they did a segment in which his kid beat Omega for the title (obviously it was not official). The thought being it was just something fun they did. Obviously we know now why they did it.
So did people in AEW kind of have an idea and knew how bad it was?
You had to figure as much, as KB pointed out, he wasn’t on T.V. or mentioned in nearly 3 months before his death.
Really heartbreaking. Loved his work. RIP
So sad to hear this. I’ll always remember when he broke away from Bray Wyatt and the Wyatt Family in 2017, and was getting over on Smackdown as an athletic big man on his own. R.I.P.
