Hm. I actually disliked this weeks episode in contrast to the previous 2 weeks. I felt the Apollo/Big E deal was grossly sped up. That was a months worth of a story pushed in 10 minutes. Plus, Big E doesnt even go one title defense without some shenanigans. Then I found the Gauntlet to be something far too long just for the result to be Adam Pearce put on the spot by Roman. A match with Daniel Bryan vs Shinsuke vs Rey with Pearce inserted and Corbin attacking Rey would had the same result without a near hour of show time being eaten. I did like Nakamura dominating but it was also so out of nowhere after years of being a lowercard heel.

I just felt we rushed months of TV stories into one episode, Russo style.

I’ve read that Daniel Bryan is and has been a significant creative voice for the blue brand for several months now. If so, and he has a hand in the overall direction SmackDown has been going, could it be that Vince might actually be listening to him?

SmackDown is a much smoother and much easier show to get through than Raw, and it’s almost always a significantly better show.

I’m not entirely sure how I feel about Adam Pearce’s involvement in all this. While he’s an on-air authority figure, this certainly doesn’t feel like your standard authority figure trying to wrestle angle. Pearce isn’t a spotlight hungry GM or anything and he’s being bullied all over the place by Reigns. I don’t know if they’ll have an actual match or if this is mostly just to make Reigns look more despicable by slaughtering a “helpless” former wrestler who no longer can go due to being out of action for over 6 years.

I’d have been fine with Nakamura winning but, at the same time, going with Pearce seems more intriguing right now. I wouldn’t mind at all if Nakamura goes babyface and is booked strongly going forward and then, maybe, down the line he could be a viable challenger. I won’t get my hopes up but stranger things have happened.

Smackdown continues to be the Best of the 2 Main Shows overall. So if they stick with Adam Pearce do you think that frees up Kevin Owens to make a return at the Royal Rumble and win it? If not him I think it’s Daniel Bryan winning. Great showing for Shinsuke Nakamura, hopefully that’s the beginning of a fresh push for him and back to being a Face too.
