Devlin taking the title from WALTER?
I know it’s not real, but that requires way way way too much suspension of disbelief.
As an aside, I love how Devlin has come off since coming to the US.
Really nice build for their match and if he keeps talking and wrestling the way he does, he will find himself on the main roster sooner or later (probably later due to his size though).

Toni is a mega star without a mega run, and I have a soft spot for Zoey as MMA girls are kinda my thing. I don’t expect the warm up match to be a big classic, especially with Zoey being so new, but I think it could be really damn solid. I’ll go Ceiling B- to Floor C for an acceptable match that I’m honestly thinking Zoey takes in an upset.

MSK and Grizzled Young Veterans are two of my favorite teams in NXT and had an awesome match at the last takeover. Add in Legado and we could be in for a hell of a showcase. I love NXTs ability to bring up stars and especially teams like it’s nothing, and MSK have an awesome energy to them, and combining Wes with his insane flying ability and Nash with his MMA style and general fire is an awesome combo. GYV are so easy to hate, yet I find myself saying Gibson’s promos right along with him. I’m still not sure what to think of Legado, as they haven’t come off as much more than Escobar’s lackeys. I’ll go with Ceiling A- to Floor C+ just so in case it’s not spectacular I won’t be too upset. I’ll take MSK, probably opening the show to start on a (don’t hurt me) high note.

Dunne and Kushida… Do I need to say much? Dunne can have an A match with a mop while in a coma, and Kushida been on a roll since he finally got his footing in America. 2-15 of these two kicking each other’s heads to Mars? Please sir, may I have another? I’ll go Ceiling A- to Floor B+ with Dunne pulling off a close one cause there is literally no possible way to screw this one up.

Lumis is more solid in the ring than people give him credit for. Reed is a star in the making. I’ve always had a thing for watching Swerve in the ring as he just carries himself so well and is really smooth in there. Grimes continues to give me my biggest laugh all week every time he’s on screen, and he’s a very underrated wrestler. Ruff is really solid, and he makes up his lack of size with great fight and enough skill to make it realistic. Knight is so different than most NXT recruits, similar to Roode, as he has such a simplified style. Ceiling B to Floor C for me cause this is a hard match to really pinpoint, and I’ll go with Lumis, but I’ll take Swerve as my dark horse.

Walter and Tommaso is a match with no drama (on paper that is) but I’ve never been bored by Walter and Tommaso is so gritty that it’s almost artistic. Ceiling A to Floor B just preparing for them to not build dram… It’s NXT!!! WHAT AM I SAYING??!!!

Io and Raquel are going to be doing everybody’s favorite combo: POWER VS SPEED. It’s worked for decades and will never stop. However, io adds another couple of wrinkles: her mat game is severely underrated and her no quit attitude is second to almost none. Raquel is a beast, but she is really surprisingly solid on the mic. In theory, she’ll win the title, most likely turn on Dakota, and be the monster champion we haven’t had since Baszler. Ceiling A+ to Floor A- cause is there a possible way a Takeover main event isn’t awesome?

I’ll say Way/Blackheart-Moon opens the second night. I had low expectations for the women’s dusty classic finals because of Moon, but she surprised me that night. Indi is still getting her footing but she has a great look and she has a good power game to go with Candices speed and experience. Ceiling B to Floor C with a 51/49 pick of the dream team retaining, although it could go either way.

Johnny isn’t “Johnny Takeover” for no reason, and I can’t bet against him in a title match on Wrestlemania weekend to have a great match. Ceiling is A- to C+ depending on who wins the gauntlet.

Santos and Devlin is gonna be a different style of ladder match, which should really be great. I’m a fan of both, and I’m a fan of ladder matches, so I call this a win. I’ll say Escobar wins so that Devlin can build to face Walter at the next UK Takeover in Dublin, unless they go with the original plan (in theory) to send Balor across the pond, which is a long shot. Ceiling A to Floor B as I don’t see it being any worse than great.

Cole and O’Reilly… Let’s keep it short. Awesome fight, star definer for O’Reilly, swan song for Cole, Ceiling to Floor is A+ both sides cause that’s how awesome they are.

Balor and Kross definitely fits in the mold of heavyweight slugfest, and Balor literally is allergic to bad matches at this point. I’m gonna take Kross in a very close one and by a very slight margin of 50.1/49.9. Ceiling A to Floor A- cause Balor is takeover main event= $$$$$

Overall I’m excited for this, and hopefully takeover can be takeover all over again.
