Great review, and I think my thoughts are generally on par with yours. My big points of contention are Bryan/Miro and the street fight – Bryan/Miro actually kind of felt like a let-down to me. It wasn’t bad or anything, but considering who was involved I expected to be way more into it. On the opposite side, I had a ton of fun with Inner Circle/Top Team. Not great wrestling obviously, but it felt like everyone was having a blast and the crowd was way into it, which helped a lot. Lambert gives me Bobby Heenan vibes in the best way.

    In all, a great show.

Also, Cody used to be a favorite of mine, but I ended up using his match as a snack break. For me, it was the match being added this week as a way to get him on the card. I think Punk/Eddie and Danielson/Miro could’ve used more time and this match going 17 didn’t help. It was a good buffer though, as I probably would have never got up if not. Also, Andrade got big reactions both nights, as he had a dark match before rampage and he was wicked over. Malakai got a really solid reaction too. The crowd went along with Justin’s “He is a Bastard” line for PAC. Cody .. yeah they’ve gotta do something cause he’s getting 2015 Roman heat right now which isn’t good for a top level babyface

Another thing I might as well bitch about since I’m here, I paid 50 bucks for this show through bleacher report and could only watch it through my phone. The streaming on my computer was completely messed up/didn’t work and I was able to get it on tv for free with an illegal twitch stream. Bleacher report streaming sucks so much ass the illegal twitch stream is better. This is also aews fault for getting kicked off of ps4 and Xbox 1 because of that stupid barbed wire death match debacle.

    • Ivan T.W. says:

Bleacher Report is awful. My wife had to work late on Saturday so we were going to start the show when she got home… but surprise, BR only lets you rewind a live feed like an hour maybe? So we couldn’t watch the show Saturday.

Decided to watch Sunday morning but couldn’t do THAT either because they were showing replays all day, which I guess count as ‘live’. In the end, we had to figure out when the next replay was starting and plan our day around that, which was a huge pain in the ass. We paid the 50 bucks, it should be like the WWE Network – you can watch it on-demand as soon as it ends.

      • Sebastian Howard says:

Man that sounds like some bullshit, you’re better off just torrenting the damn thing at that point. Br= bullshit robbery.

  4. Sebastian Howard says:

Oh and the mjf match, he was trying to get Darby to hit him with skateboard to win by dq, why though? Mjf doesn’t get anything for winning, there’s no stakes at all.

    • Thomas Hall says:

It was him trying to break Allin mentally. In other words, the same thing Bray Wyatt did to John Cena in 2014, which didn’t come off great then either.

  5. Sebastian Howard says:

I was very surprised hangman went over in main as I thought they were going to go Bryan/omega. If you were going to have hangman win why not have Miro beat Bryan to set up for a stronger heel challenger? It almost seems to me that ending could’ve been changed on call due to crowd reactions though I could be wrong. Either way it seems like weird booking and Bryan/page puts them in the awkward spot of oh if Bryan beats page he looks like shit because he just beat their baby face but if page wins he’s beating a bigger star who could’ve made them more money. I don’t get why they didn’t just go with omega/Bryan but whatever.

    • Showtime says:

I was feeling the same way when they had to swap Miro into the tournament. That Miro would benefit greatly from the win while Brian wouldn’t lose much. He’d get another shot eventually. Miro would’ve been a good first challenger for Page.

  6. Sebastian Howard says:

On conti/baker match I actually thought it was pretty good, thought conti was going to win after she kicked out of two curb stomps. Idk crowd was kind of dead for this match following the Bryan/Miro match where the crowd turned on Bryan. I think aew fans are being kind of junveile and booing bigger stars they were just cheering a month ago because they’re either too snarky or the wrestlers aren’t “all elite originals” whatever that means. Idk you tell me why Jericho gets cheered but Cody gets booed out of the building.

    • Thomas Hall says:

Jericho is cool(ish) and Cody feels like he’s trying to recreate HHH. Also, Jericho is a legend, while Cody’s career highs are being Intercontinental Champion, RIng of Honor World Champion, and wrestling in New Japan. That’s not exactly 1004 holds or beating Austin and the Rock in one night.

    • Ivan T.W. says:

The crowd was interesting… I thought they started really hot, quieted down a lot for the middle section of the show, and then picked up again for Punk/Eddie and stayed hot the rest of the night.

  7. Sebastian Howard says:

The aew crowd is way too snarky. They turned on Bryan and punk in same night, two men who were over like god at last ppv.

    • Caleb John Undahl says:

Actually we had a dueling Miro chant going, and Bryan was still super over. The group closer to the ring were kinda snarky, but it was fairly even

Also, it wasn’t that we turned on Punk, Eddie just won us over and Punk was still getting cheered a good amount, and we had a dueling “EDDIE KINGSTON/CM PUNK” chant going for a good part of it

      • Sebastian Howard says:

Bruh by the end of the punk/Kingston match they were booing the shit out of punk and during Bryan Miro match he was getting like no crowd reaction during his comeback.
Crowd was visibly dead for end of Bryan/Miro and through most of baker/tay.

        • Caleb John Undahl says:

I was in the crowd and we had a “Both these guys” chant going for Punk and Kingston. Some of the stuff isn’t picked up by the broadcast. In the arena, it sounded like Cena used to get. On TV it may have sounded weird. It did seem like the crowd closer to the ring (I was right in the middle kiddy corner to the heel ramp) was doing it just to be funny. We even chanted for Eddie on Rampage when their package aired.

The finish felt really flat in the arena (I was on my phone and others were looking away) and It didn’t help that MJF and Darby, followed by the Lucha Brothers vs FTR we’re as insane as they were

  8. Caleb John Undahl says:

KB, I’m not sure if you could tell on PPV but the arena was insane. AEW crowds are like nothing else I’ve seen. The Lethal announcement got a massive reaction, and then we forgot about it when Hangman won. Sammy and Luchasaurus got big reactions for their big spots, and there might have been two matches on the main card that didn’t get a “THIS IS AWESOME” Chant.

Also, if you were confused by the constant Eddie references, he died on this day in Minneapolis
