My favourite AEW PPV to date top to bottom. Liked everything, really liked Hangman/Mox and the six man tag, and thought the main event was 5 stars. That false rally where Danielson raised his hand at 2 during sudden death was absolutely amazing drama.

I love that the babyface tapped out. In real life, the good guys do have to tap at some point. That’s what makes it mean something when they refuse and go to sleep. When Holly Holm did it to lose her title against Tate, the part that was so amazing was that Holm refused to tap and passed out. It helps to have the good guys submit because it makes it mean more when someone refuses to.

I think you’re undereating show because of mox hangman opinion, for me this was a plus. I enjoyed full gear but this show was just really well booked, well paced and the few matches that were eh were short and crowd was into show through most of it. Crowd facing the camera weren’t freaking out whole iron man match becuause mox hangman was exhausting but they were still into it and marking tf out by sudden death. I’d give this show an a plus and put into consideration for top 5 aew ppvs just because it didn’t feel bloated. Even double or nothing last year that I went to, even though I mostly enjoyed everything it still felt bloated and overly long and crowd would die at points due to exhaustion (this is why it was smart to keep punk as main this time unlike last year’s revolution where crowd died on hangman/Cole because punk/mjf was the draw). This was just fun and it started at five for me was over by nine so four hours thats way less than their usual run time right? I think double or nothing was five. Either way I’d push this show up just because it felt like a breeze to watch and I haven’t had that feeling with an aew ppv in a while.

“Great match, with an ending that might not go over so well” on Bryan mjf

I think that’s what makes it great, it doesn’t feel implasiivle for mjf to have won in that situation it doesn’t feel like Cena beating Benoit with srf for example. Mjf proved he is great at technical wrestling here and bryan made him look great in that aspect as he has done with yuta. Mjf getting bryan to tap will boost his douchiness and get him major heel heat, I really see no problem with it because if you’re mad that’s good you’re being worked unless people are really mad Bryan tapped in the most desperate situation possible to a guy who proved he’s actually very good technically and has a submission finish. Bryan isn’t Austin in 97 you don’t need him passing out from pain and him being kod would’ve meant less. I just see nothing from positives from decision other than Tony might have to hear bitching from fanboys but I’m like the biggest bryan mark in the world and I thought it was great.

The reason Joe wardlow sucked wasn’t bad ring work if was acceptable it’s because crowd was dead af and didn’t even react to wardlow doing a swanton because mox/hangman burnt them out so badly and big guys doing flippy moves into unique or cool anymore. Wardlow should just be a power guy like basitia and quit trying to be Brian cage, also he needs to work on mic skills or a manager. If he got into a promo feud with mjf rn mjf would destroy him on mic to possible point of completely burying him.

On hangman/mox match I will say mox makes shit feel low rent, trashy and ovelry violent. They prob could’ve had a better match but I just kind of like garbage wrestling, I wouldn’t mind if Moxley had like a hardcore belt and was defending that it and it became its own genre like they did in TNA with abyss monster ball matches. The real problem with Moxley is that he’s overrated AF, won gave him woty and it’s just ridiculous. His only great match all year was against Danielsonand it is funny to me that meltzer blows Moxley and stuff like the ecw rip off brawl at double or nothing when if ecw had done the same exact matches in the 90s he’d be giving them dud ratings.

“You can’t win the match in the ring, so the drama doesn’t really crank up until you get up to the casket.”

I feel it’s acceptable for this match, I wasn’t super concerned with ending or suspense with it but rather seeing jungle boy beat the dog shit out of Christian and then having a good brawl. I mean like every casket match is terrible and you could argue this is best one…. Oh wait Shawn taker at rumble 98 nvm. Still second best casket match ain’t bad, I actually wish the brawling would’ve gone on longer or got more brutal but they prob had to tone down a bit because mox hangman was on later.

With Jericho/starks I was expecting big show to show up and cost starks because I heard Jericho or aew copyrighted jerishow. I’m glad he didn’t come out because starks is good and deserved to beat jericho clean but I wonder if big show will show up on dynamite.

Christian/jungle boy was good but jungle boy is not good at selling, he took a unprettier on the ramp and then popped right back up to dodge conchairto. Christian really should be teaching him how to sell properly, jungle boy also had that stupid match with luchasaurs in a cage where he came off top of cage through lucha on a table and then instantly jumped up to hit snapmare. Starks on the other hand is someone who’s VERY good at selling while jungle boy is green.

I kind of wanted sarya to win women’s match because aew marks were so mad just about her being in the match at all and I feel like she could get some heat but hayter just got it and the women’s title actually feels more respectable than the tnt title rn because it’s not constantly changing hands.

Elite hob was fun, wasn’t expecting hob to win.

  11. Sebastian says:

The pacing was much better than usual for aew ppvs too, usually with aew ppvs there’s dead crowds near the end and it feels way too long but this was booked pretty well and they basically booked women’s match to be a piss break which is smart to not burn out crowd.

Amazing show, blows ec and rumble out of the water and justifies aews existence. Only dead spot on show for me was wardlow Joe because crowd was burnt out from mox hangman but they got hot again for the tag match surprisingly. Bryan mjf was amazing, the sudden death at the end I did not think mjf was going to kick out of psycho knee. It’s kind of cheesy that they used the an oxygen tank (you think tony watched 06 raw with Shelton’s mama?) But goddamn it was a good match. Mjf came out looking great technically and im sure he’ll brag for next year about tapping out Bryan.

I didn’t mind mox hangman, I didn’t like the fork shit but the rest of it was decent garbage wrestling though it did feel kind of czw garbage but it was still ok and nice to see considering WWE refuses to get violent or even have blood in wargames.

I thought swerve Keith Lee was supposed to be on card did they cut it?

      • Thomas Hall says:

I’m pretty sure that was just speculated and never announced.

        • Sebastian says:

Gotcha I figured the match on rampage was building up to it. Could’ve been on pre show I guess but I would’ve missed it because I dont watch buy in. Still holding out hope for a serious swerve push soon.
