It’s a shame that his farewell took place during the pandemic and also the fact that everyone knew he should have hung it up a long time ago so this came off more as “finally” versus any kind of emotional moment. Wrestlemania 33 was perfect for the end even if it came after a not so great match. The AJ match was a fine way to end it but the fact that it was cinematic not only due to the pandemic but because it probably was the right thing to do due to not wanting Taker to go and embarrass himself with one of the best in ring workers in the world should tell you all there is.

I love the guy and my comment comes off as snarky, it’s just sad it got to this point. Everyone agrees it was probably 10 years past due but it just sucks because that Mania 33 finale was tremendous I wish it was the last time. Was it worth it? To come back and have those awful Saudi matches? Probably to Takers wallet but it really hurt him in my eyes. My dad who has been watching since the 80s when I told him Taker retired finally just chuckled and couldn’t believe he was still doing this.

I know Taker wanted his final story book ending on his own terms which he asbolutely deserved but he had those chances so many times with the end of an era match, and many more. It just got to the point that it was sad because he kept having one stinker after another that he felt he needed to “redeem” himself over and over again.

Geez wasn’t expecting to rant like that. Wrestling fans can be too passionate sometimes lol.
