I’m not sure what to think of this show these days, as it’s basically just an assortment of random stuff from week to week. This week is described as Open Fight Night, meaning you can get a match with anyone you want. That could mean a lot of things, but at the end of the day, we still haven’t had a new TV taping since the pay per view so this isn’t likely to be much. Let’s get to it.

Santino Marella says we’re still dealing with the effects of Bound For Glory but we’re back live next week. Tonight though is Open Fight Night so it’s time for some challenges.

Brian Myers says that he and Eddie Edwards want the Tag Team Titles back so they’re starting against the Great Hands.

Opening sequence.

Northern Armory vs. Rascalz vs. Great Hands vs. The System

One fall to a finish with Tasha Steelz and Alisha Edwards at ringside. Icarus (with his taped up shoulder) and Wentz go to the mat to start and everything breaks down with the villains being sent outside. The Rascalz kick the System to the floor and hit the required dives as we take a break.

We come back with Icarus getting caught in a Dream Sequence to give Wentz two. Williams dropkicks Wentz for two but Myers comes in to drop Williams with a clothesline. Skyler is right back up with a knockdown into a chinlock before Hotch does the same. That’s broken up as well and it’s Edwards coming in to make the comeback. Everything breaks down and the Boston Knee Party hits Skyler to give Edwards the pin at 12:52.

Rating: B-. The action was good, but there was so much going on that it’s hard to have anyone really stand out. As usual, the issue with a match like this is that it doesn’t feel like the System won but rather they stole a fall when everyone else was busy. That’s what happens when you have this many people involved in a match and there isn’t much of a way around it with just one fall.

Jody Threat wants to fight Dani Luna.

The Elegance Brand is on a search for their Mr. Elegance. Ash is here as well, making me think this was taped a long time ago.

Dani Luna vs. Jody Threat

Threat wrestles her down to start and hammers away before they’re quickly on the floor. Luna avoids a backsplash and they get back inside, with Threat’s choke being broken up without much trouble. Threat misses a charge into the ropes and gets taken down with a German suplex.

We take a break and come back with Luna elbowing her in the head but Threat manages a clothesline. Luna is sent outside for a running flip dive off the apron, followed by a crossbody back inside. Luna’s comeback is quickly cut off with a rear naked choke, sending Luna bailing over to the ropes. A clothesline to the back of the head drops Threat but she’s able to counter the Lunar Landing. Luna is able to grab a bottom rope German superplex to bring Threat back in, setting up the Lunar Landing for the pin at 14:17.

Rating: B-. They had a hard hitting fight here, which helps make up for the lack of interest in seeing these two fight anymore. Their team was only so good in the first place and it feels like they’ve been feuding for even longer than they were together. Either way, the match worked well enough and that’s good for a one off match on a special like this.

Colons vs. Hardys

Street fight and the Hardys Tag Team Titles aren’t on the line. Jeff and Eddie start things off with Jeff working on the arm. Matt comes in to ram the bad arm into his shoulder, followed by Poetry In Motion. It’s time for a table but the Colons fight back and kick it out to the floor. The Hardys aren’t having that and beat up Orlando on the floor, followed by stereo rams into the buckles.

Matt beats on Eddie in the crowd before stereo low blows cut off the Twists Of Fate. The table is sent back inside but Jeff crotches Orlando on top. Matt hits Eddie low and there’s the Twist Of Fate. After fixing the table again, the Swanton puts Eddie through said table to give Matt the pin on Eddie at 11:21.

Rating: C+. This felt like a post show dark match to send the fans home happy with commentary added later. That’s not a bad thing to show either, as the Hardys are still one of the top acts in the company and the fans love them. It’s not a great match, but it’s a nice exclusive to add in here.

TNA World Title: Bobby Roode vs. AJ Styles

Roode is defending and it’s a feeling out process to start with Roode getting in a cheap shot but getting caught with a quick dropkick. We’re clipped to Roode hitting a suplex and dropping a knee, followed by a chinlock. Styles fights out and hits a quick Phenomenal Forearm for a slightly delayed two.

Roode powers him into the corner but Styles is right back up with a missile dropkick. Roode’s spear gets two but the crossface doesn’t last long. Styles’ Muta Lock sends Roode over to the rope, allowing him to fisherman’s suplex Styles for two. Styles gets in a Pele kick but gets distracted by….something, allowing Roode to block the springboard 450. The fisherman’s suplex retains the title at 8:08 shown (of 21:20 overall). I won’t rate what we saw with this much missing, but what we got was the usual good stuff you would expect from these two.

We look at Kelani Jordan retaining the Knockouts Title on NXT, earning her a spot at Gold Rush in a triple threat, defending against Lei Ying Lee and Jordynne Grace.

We get a sitdown interview with Jordan, who is tired of doing things the right way and getting treated badly as a result. She’s already beaten a bunch of challengers and the results will be the same at Gold Rush. The turn has helped Jordan, but having her talk in long form stuff is not a great idea.

Ash By Elegance is in Edmonton, looking for Mr. Elegance, which appears to be involving watching pre-show tryout matches. No one impresses them.

Mike Santana vs. Cedric Alexander

Santana doesn’t have the belt here, which is explained as he’s leaving it in the back due to respect for Alexander. This is of course translated to “it was taped before he won the title”. They go into the corner to start until Alexander works on the arm. Santana reverses into some arm cranking of his own but it’s way too early to Spin The Block.

A springboard spinning crossbody sends Alexander outside, with a superkick dropping him again. Alexander is right back in with a springboard moonsault to send Santana outside for a change. We take a break and come back with Alexander grabbing a snap German suplex for two.

Santana fires off chops in the corner but charges into a Michinoku Driver for two more. Santana fights out of a chinlock and strikes away until Alexander grabs a fisherman’s buster for another near fall. The Rolling Buck Fifty fives Santana two of his own and they forearm it out from their knees. They trade rollups for two each until Spin The Block gives Santana the pin at 15:11.

Rating: B. This was how a show like this should have ended, as the World Champion gets a nice hard fought win. Santana should have a lot more going on in the near future, but at least he got in the ring for a match. Granted it would have been better if he was having a match after winning the title, but I’ll take what I can get here.

Overall Rating: B. Maybe it was just having fresh content but I’ll take this as a one off special. That being said, the best part about this show was the announcement that we’re FINALLY getting some post-Bound For Glory content next week. The fact that it’s the day before Turning Point doesn’t make things much better, but at least it’s something.

Hopefully they have something fresh around here, as we’re now coming up on an entire month since Bound For Glory. If would be nice to get some actual build towards something new, as you can only recap so much from the pay per view until it loses any impact it might have. Let’s get to it.

The opening sequence shows….that it’s a Very Hardy Halloween. Oh boy.

The Broken Hardys welcome us to the show and say that tonight we’re going to see the goings on at the Hardy Compound over the years, starting with the Final Deletion.

Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy

This is outside and in the dark in somewhat rickety looking ring. Before the match, Matt tells the referee (who he makes sure is licensed) to count the pin or call the submission. Matt plays the violin (given to him by Antonio Stradivari, who died in 1737) to summon the enigma. Jeff rides up and Matt tells him to prepare for his deletion. We come back from a break where the gardener reads us a statement saying not to try this. It’s in Spanish but it’s a nice gesture.

They trade punches to start and the longest stretch without the camera cutting is about four seconds. Jeff superplexes Matt (slow motion) and gets two off a splash before pulling out what appear to be shutters covered in ivy. Matt goes through those for two as we have music playing instead of commentary. Matt takes over with a kendo stick to the back as this is only a match in the loosest of terms.

We’ve got a ladder less than two minutes in with Jeff being knocked back into the corner and choked with the rungs (Matt: “DELETE! DELETE! DELETE!”). The Side Effect onto the ladder is countered and Jeff hits a Twist of Fate before taking his shirt off. The Swanton gets two and Jeff puts the ladder on the middle rope. That’s not enough though as he climbs into a tree (yes a tree) and dives off, hitting only the ladder on the way down. That only gets two so Matt hits him with a chair and pulls out a firework cannon to shoot at Jeff, who blocks it with a trashcan lid.

Since that didn’t work, Matt pulls out a rake and calls for Brother Nero. Jeff has his own fireworks to shoot at Matt, who hides behind a metal boat as the music switches from something resembling classical to rock. Jeff turns the boat over but gets caught in a sleeper because after fireworks, of course you use wrestling moves. They fall into the water and Jeff disappears with Matt saying he’s been flushed. Jeff pops out of the water in full Willow gear and chokes Matt with the umbrella until the gardener comes up with a stun gun to knock Jeff out for the pin at 7:27.

Actually not so fast as Matt takes the mask off and it’s….the gardener. Jeff pops back up and knocks Matt into a dirt pit for more choking but lets go when he sees a massive Hardy logo. Jeff climbs onto that as we go to a Wyatt style montage of the birthday party. Reby hands Matt a candle and he sets the symbol on fire to knock Jeff off for the pin at 9:36.

Rating: N/A. No rating since this had nothing to do with wrestling and was heavily edited throughout. Normally I would explain something stupid here but do I really need to? This was Matt and Jeff shouting LOOK AT OUR BRILLIANCE and Dixie being stupid enough to let them do whatever they wanted. Words don’t describe this one well enough but I hope Matt and Jeff financed this themselves because TNA is broke enough that they can barely afford to pay their production staff but they can have this…..thing which probably cost a small fortune.

The Hardys talk about what happened when they fought. Then it was time to fight someone else though, so it’s off to Delete Or Decay.

It’s time for Final Deletion II. Decay goes after Senor Benjamin but he turns a shovel around to show the word DELETE. We cut to Decay arriving at the house, which Rosemary calls home sweet home. They look through the window to see Reby holding Maxel but here’s Matt, who KNEW THEY WOULD COME.

Back from a break and it’s time for the showdown with the Hardys (the three adults) holding up their fireworks. Abyss: “THIS IS NOT BEAUTIFUL!” Hang on because there are going to be a lot of very quick cuts in this thing. The Hardys chase them off with the fireworks and a ladder is knocked over. It’s really hard to see what’s going on here but for some reason fireworks are being shot horizontally at Decay but a camera cut shows them exploding in the air.

Matt sends Reby back to the house as Decay hides behind ye olde dilapidated boat. Abyss tells someone to get to the house and Jeff dropkicks the boat into the water. Cue Senor Benjamin to say Matt needs the boat. Jeff disappears and Benjamin starts pulling the boat but Joseph Park walks out of the water. Park: “Brother Benjamin! I loved you in Final Deletion!” Benjamin tases Park and puts him in a conveniently placed bulldozer.

It’s off to Steve, who tries to send Jeff face first into a fire inside a big tire. That earns Steve a sitout gordbuster into a pool and they fight underwater. Matt is walking through smoke and calling for Rosemary as Benjamin dumps Park (presumably) into a grave. Jeff chokes Steve out under the water and sits on the side of the pool, only to be pulled back in ala the end of Friday the 13th.

Back to Benjamin who laughs at the grave but Abyss pops out to choke him. Steve and Jeff fight over a pool toy but it’s back to Abyss going after Matt and pulling out Janice. Jeff takes the shot to the ribs for his brother but here’s Vanguard I to launch rockets at Decay. The Hardy symbol in the grass is lit on fire with Steve inside.

We cut back to the house where Rosemary has Maxel. Vanguard I tells her to put him down so she blows mist at the drone to knock it offline. Maxel escaped somewhere in there and here’s Matt to say Rosemary has crossed a line. She mists him but he sucks it into his mouth and spits it back at her. Maxel staggers over to Matt as Reby reappears. The family is reunited but we cut back to Jeff who is laying on the ground in agony. Steve laughs at the fallen Benjamin and a car, I guess containing Decay, leaves to end the match at around 17:00.

So yeah, the Final Deletion is basically Sharknado. It was a lot of fun the first time because it was just so stupid but the second version is really just a bigger budget version where you expect the same stuff over and over again. Other than the random Joseph Park cameo (really funny), this was a lot of the same bits that they did the first time but without the “what am I watching” reactions. I had fun with it and all but I really don’t need to see this again unless they come up with something fresh next time. It also doesn’t help that this set up (in theory) a regular tag match at Bound For Glory. Isn’t that kind of backwards?

Tag Team Titles: Tag Team Apocalypto

The Hardys are defending and this is under elimination rules with eliminations coming via pinfall or submission. The match starts in the arena so we get to see who is in at the start. Here’s the lineup:

Hardys, Helms Dynasty, Rock N Roll Express, Decay

That’s it for now as smoke fills the arena and everyone has to evacuate the building. We see Lashley and Edwards still fighting before cutting back to the teams. Everything goes insane and the teams are outside with firework guns. Abyss: “NO! NOT AGAIN!” The fireworks going into the air and Helms tells his boys to get out. Matt appears in the back of their truck and attacks Lee so Jeff tells the referee to get on the back of his motorcycle to chase after them.

A bunch of teams are at the entrance to the Compound and Decay lets them in because this is going to be beautiful. Matt throws Everett into the Cameron City Limits sign for two (yes there are counts in this) with Helms making the save. It’s a huge fight as some of the teams get in, though none of them are introduced. Crazzy Steve snaps one of their necks for a pin on someone never identified.

Another team is allowed in as Spud is shown waiting on his partner. The Bravado Brothers (Harlem and Lance) show up as the Dynasty and Hardys fight in front of an antique store. Where did the Express go? Back at the entrance, a team called the Ugly Ducklings (maybe) enter and are eliminated in just a few seconds via Abyss’ chokeslam.

The Hardys and Dynasty keep fighting as Abyss beats up a team called Showtime. The Bravado Brothers sneak in as Showtime is quickly dispatched by way or a rock to the head. I’m almost certain we’re not supposed to know who any of those teams were though it’s not like we got a good shot at almost any of their faces. Spud’s partner finally arrives and we take a break.

Back with Spud’s partner being revealed as……Hornswoggle. Decay lets them pass so we cut back to the brawl taking place by the Lake of Reincarnation. A jumping knee to Jeff’s face gets two as Matt makes the save by moving the boat with his mind. The Dynasty starts stomping on the boat until Jeff makes the save with a double noggin knocker.

Matt shoves Helms into the Lake and it’s time for a 3 Count reunion, by which I mean Shane being part of 3 Count and yelling that Everett and Lee are no Evan Karagias and Shannon Moore. They superkick Helms into the Lake as the Bravados show up to roll them up for two each. The Express are in another ring (four sided this time) nearby and call the Hardys in for a fight.

This goes as well as it’s going to go in 2016 but now we cut back to Edwards and Lashley because that’s still going. Wait now it’s back to the Dynasty vs. the Bravados with the referee coming out of a portable toilet to do his job. Everett hits a standing moonsault onto I believe Lance, leaving Harlem to be sent into a wall. They head inside the arena to keep brawling as we cut back to the other ring. Ricky and Jeff are in the kind of machines used to get people to the top of telephone poles and it’s time for another break.

Back with the cranes coming together so Ricky can work on the arm. The volcano is going off in the background as Robert works on a spinning toehold. Matt grabs one of the crane’s controls to send Morton flying through the air. We go back to the other arena where Everett is covered for two. We’re back to the cranes though with Jeff Swantoning out and missing Robert, only to have Matt hit a Twist of Fate to get rid of the Express.

So I believe we’re down to Decay, Spud/Hornswoggle, the Bravados and the Dynasty, assuming no one else arrives. Back in the other arena, Spud and Hornswoggle go after the two downed teams with Hornswoggle swinging a chair. Spud eliminates the Bravados but gets powerbombed by Hornswoggle, setting up the Tadpole Splash. Everett pins Spud to get rid of another team.

Back to Lashley choking Edwards with a cord of some kind as Morton is still stuck on the crane, demanding to be let down. Road Warrior Animal of all people is here, asking how Morton got stuck up there. Decay finds James Storm in a mask but multiple other DCC members show up. One of them takes off his mask and Storm has no idea who it is. Whoever it is gets knocked out with Abyss getting the pin, which eliminates the entire DCC. Storm gets in a superkick for good measure. Steve wants to go add to this pile of bones and we take another break.

We come back again with the Hardys and Decay fighting near the volcano and Lashley and Edwards fighting nearby. The volcano erupts violently and we’ve got the Hurricane rising from the Lake. That means it’s time for breaking news with news anchor Gilbert Corsey saying Cameron North Carolina’s fate is in the Hardys’ hands.

Back to the outside ring with Decay and the Dynasty each picking a Hardy to beat on. Matt is taken to a graveyard of Hardy logos as Jeff fights back on Decay. Janice is brought in and Jeff’s comeback is cut off by a low blow. Vanguard I comes in and that means another fireworks war. Abyss takes one to the eye and Vanguard celebrates.

To the other teams as Hurricane saves Matt from a shovel to the head. Apparently the Dynasty is broken and a double pin (Can Hurricane do that?) gets rid of Everett and Lee. Matt and Hurricane bury them, which Matt says would make even the man with three H’s proud. Lashley throws Eddie onto the house’s porch and then no sells a Hornswoggle spear.

Abyss is back up but a huge Hardy symbol catches on fire around him. A lot of brawling ends with Abyss taking Matt back into the ring. Matt gets Janice though and a shot to the ribs (with some quick edits) means Matt can make his weird noises. Steve and Jeff fight near the volcano with a Twisting Stunner sending Steve into the mouth. A big explosion sends Steve’s charred body flying into the ring so Matt can get the pin to retain at 44:10.

Rating: N/A. You think I have any idea hot to rate this? As I’ve said many times, I rate wrestling, not a bunch of people running around a big field with a few wrestling rings involved. I know there’s an audience for this and I was excited about what it might be, but you knew they were over hyping this to death.

All that talk about teams breaking contracts and such to show up turned out to be the nonsense that it was expected to be, leaving us with a joke like the Rock N Roll Express, an indy team in the Bravados, Spud and Hornswoggle as another joke (I think?) and three TNA teams. Oh and the jobbers. Don’t forget the jobbers.

No one really bought that any WWE names were going to show up here and the match was a big mess of standing around waiting for the bigger names to show up. The big moment here (I guess) was the Hurricane return and that’s really nothing special. If you knew you weren’t going to be able to get anyone here (Young Bucks? Maybe?), don’t hype it up like it’s a done deal. No they never said it, but if it’s nothing outlandish, mentioning a name in wrestling means THEY’RE GOING TO SHOW UP.

I was really, really disappointed in this as I bought into the hype of the whole thing. But, of course, TNA manages to let me down and thinks that I’m going to be entertained by a joke about HHH burying people when the Hardys (combined age of 81) just beat almost the entire tag team division in less than an hour. There was no big moment, there was no big surprise and there was no big difference between this and the rest of the Hardy specials.

Oh and for a bonus: Reby reveals that she’s pregnant and pyro goes off.

We go to the Dome of Deletion, a mini arena set up with a live crowd, a ring and an entrance shaped like Matt’s open mouth. The Hardys come out with Matt promising fifty of his followers appearing tonight. If they don’t prove their greatness tonight, the Seven Deities will remove the powers of deletion.

Cue Rockstar Spud to say he’s sick of all this, including King Maxel. The infant gets a chant so Spud wants to be his first opponent because the kid hasn’t had a match yet and he’s more over than Spud has ever been. Spud promises to stretch Maxel and make him a loser like his father. Matt actually sanctions the match and makes it No DQ.

King Maxel vs. Rockstar Spud

Maxel drives to the ring in a mini Mercedes because of course he does. The bell rings, Benjamin tases Spud and Maxel gets the pin in 19 seconds. Cool moment, though Kevin Owens basically did the same thing in PWG a few years back.

The Hardys don’t like that the Nemeths came to the Hardy Compound and escaped. That must be revisited.

From April 24, 2025.

The Nemeth’s go to the Hardy Compound and see Willow (with umbrella) waiting for them. Back from a break (because this needs to go longer), the Nemeth’s are in the compound and Willow starts dancing. Then a light flashes and Willow disappears, leaving his umbrella behind. Jeff Hardy jumps Nic and sends him into a tree before beating on him with an umbrella.

They fight into the back of a truck and Jeff is backdropped off the top of said truck and through some well placed tables. Nic goes into the truck and finds a suitcase, with one of the title belts inside. In a case of what is likely breaking and entering, Nic goes into the house and we cut to Ryan getting jumped by Matt Hardy. As Nic wanders through the arcade, he finds a collection of titles and steals the other TNA tag team title, replacing it with a weight.

Matt has a pre-mo-neetion and spears Ryan into a pool. Then Ryan shows up in the arcade, where Senor Benjamin gives him a ticket. Ryan walks in, where Matt’s kids are sitting in chairs and eating popcorn. Benjamin sits down in one of the chairs next to Ryan and we see a silent movie about Maxel (Matt’s son) beating Ryan.

Then Ryan wakes up on a psychiatrist’s couch, with Maxel taking notes. Ryan talks about the issues that came with Nic’s suspension and all of the pressure on him. Then Ryan walks up to Reby playing the piano with her daughter by her side. Ryan and the daughter argue over the Nemeth’s wanting the Tag Team Titles. Then a bird appears and Ryan is now a goth and doing standup with one of Matt’s other sons.

The son asks if Ryan wants to hear a joke. Ryan: “Sure.” Matt’s son: “Your career.” Then Matt pulls Ryan out of the pool but stops to chase Nic, with the Tag Team Titles. One of Matt’s sons grabs Nic and gets shoved down, triggering a fight with Matt. Broken Jeff appears as the Nemeth’s escape with the titles. Counting a commercial, this was about twenty minutes. Because TNA hates us.

And one more, as the System visits the Hardy Compound.

From June 13, 2024.

The System looks for a way into the Hardy Compound. Post break, they find their way to the back, where Matt Hardy meets them from a balcony. His family, including Senior Benjamin, are waiting for him. Moose walks into a trap, which sets off a bunch of fireworks, while Brian Myers is confused by a Curt Hawkins figure. He goes into Matt’s arcade and finds more figures, as planed by one of Matt’s sons. Then Myers is scared by moments from his past, including a pair of Edge tights and discussions of his losing streaks.

We cut over to Eddie Edwards being stalked by another of Matt’s sons and then turning into the American Wolf (as in a werewolf). We cut to Alisha Edwards slowly walking through the house as Reby Hardy plays piano. Then Reby’s daughter uses magic to send things flying at Alisha.

We cut to another of Matt’s kids guiding Moose to Matt. This includes a stop at Senor Benjamin’s house, where he watches previous Broken Matt exploits. Matt pops up and attacks Moose, including putting him in a wheelchair. We cut to Reby seemingly beheading Alisha with a guillotine and then cut back to Matt sending Moose into the Lake Of Reincarnation. Moose comes out in football gear but Vanguard 1 shows up for a distraction, allowing Matt to hit a Twist of Fate. The System bails while still making threats.

This stuff was funny at one point but then it became the same jokes over and over again, as the Hardys are weird and their kids are creepy. It really feels like Matt is the only one who wants to do this and that doesn’t make for a good show over and over. This just kept going and was more about references from other promotions, which don’t make me want to see the matches on Friday, but rather just getting rid of Hardy in general. Not good here, though I’m sure it still has something of an audience.

The Hardys wrap it up, with Matt pre-mo-nating the biggest battle ever next year.

Overall Rating: C. Ok so as you can probably guess, this is absolutely not my thing. I get why they went with this for the Halloween show, but my goodness the charm here ran out very quickly. It’s a total detour for a special night, but at the same time, they absolutely need to get SOMETHING related to their major stories.

Every bit of momentum that they had from Bound For Glory is gone and it gets worse each week. Just have people cut promos or something and set something up. That really shouldn’t be too much to ask, but instead we’re flashing back nine years to people who have nothing to do with what is going on here. So after about a week and a half away from Bound For Glory…we’re still not ready for new content. Instead, after last week’s studio show, this week will be a special documentary from the show and the build towards it, called Fade To Black. That’s a cool idea, though I’m not sure if it’s going to make it through two hours. Let’s get to it.

We open with a look at the show coming to Boston (or close enough).

TNA President Carlos Silva addresses the roster, talking about how it’s time to push towards the biggest show of the year and hopefully break their attendance record. He also says how great it is to have everyone here, including Chris Bey, who is still recovering from his horrible neck injury. Bey talks about how the wrestlers in TNA make him work harder to recover.

Boston native Eddie Edwards talks about how important it is to finally have a major event in his city.

Commentary talks about how hard they want to work to live up to the previous teams’ efforts.

Mike Santana’s daughter is excited for her dad’s match.

We look at the Beautiful People and Mickie James being inducted into the Hall Of Fame.

Now we’re on to the show itself, starting with Steve Maclin defeating Frankie Kazarian to regain the International Title. And now, the match itself:

International Title: Steve Maclin vs. Frankie Kazarian

Maclin is challenging and takes Kazarian out with a suicide dive to start fast. Kazarian is sent inside, where he’s able to grab a sunset bomb. Hold on though as Kazarian goes over to yell at Maclin’s mom, who flips him off. Back in and Maclin fights out of a chickenwing before grabbing one of his own.

That’s broken up but Maclin powerbombs a springboard out of the air, setting up a Boston crab. Kazarian gets out and hits Angel’s Wings for two but a middle rope Fade To Black is blocked. Instead Kazarian grabs a slingshot cutter and ties Maclin in the Tree Of Woe. The spear misses though, allowing Maclin to hit the real thing. The KIA gives Maclin the pin and the title back at 8:00.

Rating: C+. It’s a quick, hard hitting match to open the show with a feel good moment for the fans. Maclin getting the title back from Kazarian so soon is more than a surprise, though it’s a good sign for Maclin’s future. I’m not sure what is next for him, but he makes for a good midcard champion so putting him back in the spot isn’t a bad move.

We look at Kelani Jordan retaining the Knockouts Title over Indi Hartwell.

Next up is Eddie Edwards, who is returning to his hometown and wrestled in the Hardcore War as the System defeated Order 4.

We look at Leon Slater pinning Stacks to retain the X-Division Title on NXT. After the match, Slater/Je’Von Evans vs. La Parka/Mr. Iguana was set for Halloween Havoc.

We look at the X-Division Title match from Bound For Glory, featuring a time limit draw and a no contest. Because reasons.

We look at Chris Bey’s injury recovery from his neck injury. Now Bey is walking on his own power and was at Bound For Glory as a special appearance.

We get a video building up the One Final Table match. The Hardys and Team 3D had a long history, dating back over twenty five years and now it’s time for one last match.

Team 3D talks about their history together and how they met when they were training in New York. Then they got together as a team in 1996 and the Hardys watched them to see just how great they were. Eventually they came together and had a tables match at the 2000 Royal Rumble which was rather awesome (though saying they stole the show might be a stretch).

Team 3D then came to TNA and had success but then split up, with Ray eventually becoming Bully Ray and the World Heavyweight Champion. At the same time, D-Von wants his daughters to see him in the ring as they were too young to make that happen. Jeff Hardy’s daughter agrees.

We take a quick look at the match, with the Hardys winning and Team 3D hanging up their boots in their final match together.

Mike Santana’s daughter is proud of her dad for winning after such a long push towards the title. After the match, Santana presented the title to his daughter and told the roster how it’s time to keep moving forward.

We look at the show as a whole.

And now, the main event.

TNA World Title: Trick Williams vs. Mike Santana

Santana is challenging and Williams runs his mouth during the Big Match Intros. As a result, Santana jumps him to start the brawl and they head into the crowd before the opening bell. They get back to ringside with Williams getting in a belt shot. That’s enough for them to get back inside for the opening bell, with the Trick Kick connecting for two. Santana’s comeback is cut off with a backdrop to the floor, where Williams gets in a posting. A shot with the steps misses but Santana, now bleeding, gets backdropped onto said steps.

We take a break and come back with Santana grabbing the Rolling Buck Fifty into the Cannonball for two. Santana goes up but gets slammed down onto the apron for a NASTY crash. Williams yells at Santana’s daughter and gets slapped in the face, earning himself a big flip dive from Santana. A 450 gives Santana two so Williams’ lawyer offers a distraction.

That doesn’t get him very far as Santana boots Williams in the head, only for Williams to grab a super Rock Bottom for two more. Back up and they trade shots to the face until Spin The Block gives Santana two. The lawyer gets in again so it’s Spin The Block to take him down, leaving Williams to hit the Trick Shot for two more. Santana cuts off another Trick Shot with a clothesline though and Spin The Block gives Santana the pin and the title at 13:16 shown of 16:12.

Rating: B. The point here was to have Santana get the win and that is exactly what happened. What matters here is giving Santana the title to save it from NXT and making him into the new big star. The match quality itself, which good enough, is completely secondary to the moment and they nailed that part rather well.

Post match Santana presents the title to his daughter in a great moment (everything with Nic Nemeth/Frankie Kazarian/Elijah is left out, as it should be) to end the show.

Overall Rating: B-. I’m not sure how to rate this, as it was basically a behind the scenes documentary with two matches included as bonus features. The matches are things we’ve seen before, though they need to have something fresh sooner rather than later. What matters here though is it seemed that the wrestlers were all feeling it with this show and putting in their best efforts. It’s a nice look behind the scenes at the biggest show of the year, and for a one off, that was fun to see.

It’s the week after Bound For Glory and the big story is that Mike Santana is the new World Champion, having saved the title from Trick Williams. The show ended with co-Call Your Shot Gauntlet winners (it’s a whole thing) Nic Nemeth and Frankie Kazarian but Elijah made the save. There’s a lot to build on so let’s get to it.

We open with an exclusive clip from after Bound For Glory, with Mike Santana celebrating with his daughter.

Apparently this is a special After The Glory show, which sounds like they just didn’t tape anything new yet.

Steve Maclin talks about how important it was to win the International Title back in front of his mother and various Marines.

We look at Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans on NXT, with Evans getting to defend the X-Division Title against Stacks next week.

We look at highlights of Slater vs. Evans from Bound For Glory. They actually leave in the time limit draw, which was booed out of the building, and Darkstate’s interference in the end, which was booed even worse.

Slater, via a spaceship, joins the hosts to talk about how facing Evans was like looking in a mirror. He was worried against Evans and then it was all ruined by Darkstate interfering. Now he’s ready for whatever is next.

We look at the Hall Of Fame induction ceremony.

Mickie James joins the hosts for a chat. She was surprised by getting inducted and loves being here because it’s like being part of the family. James talks about how everything has gone here over the years and how proud she is for everyone. She was happy to see all of her friends and she praises the women who wrestled on the show. And she’s just happy in general.

Eric Young, in a mask, pops in to brag about his reign as Knockouts Tag Team Champion. He brags about his success in the Call Your Shot gauntlet. Now it’s time to continue with the cleansing. He complains that Hannifan is part of what makes TNA sick, because we’re STILL on this whole Eric Young hates TNA and has to fix it stuff that we’ve been doing for YEARS now.

We look at some highlights from the Hardys vs. Team 3D with the Hardys winning the One Final Table match. Team 3D seemed to retire after the match.

The hosts talk about the match and how emotional the whole thing was.

We look at Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater on NXT, with the Hardys coming in to say they’ll go after Darkstate for them. Then Darkstate attacked the Hardys later that night.

The Hardys join the hosts and talk about what it means to be in the ring with Team 3D over the years. We actually get some clips from the 2000 Royal Rumble, which is rather bizarre to see on this show. They watched Team 3D on the original ECW and it made them want to be wrestlers (not exactly, as both of them were already jobbing on Raw when Team 3D formed). Having the match was a great moment and they didn’t know Team 3D would hand them their boots after it was over.

We take a quick look at the upcoming Fade To Black documentary.

We look at Mike Santana beating Trick Williams to win the World Title. Then Nic Nemeth tried to cash in his Call Your Shot gauntlet win but Elijah cut him off.

We look at more highlights of Santana beating Williams. This includes showing the cash-in attempt and save by Elijah, which we saw highlights of about three minutes ago. Santana celebrates with his daughter after the win in a nice moment.

Santana is here and talks about what a tough fight it was on Sunday. He wasn’t sure where his life was going but he knew that he needed a plan. Then he followed the plan to the letter and it led him to the World Title. Santana thanks Amazing Red and Konnan and the wrestlers from New York, who helped him get here. He quotes the lyrics from a song about life throwing you surprises, including the loss at Slammiversary. The car ride after that show was hard but the one after Bound For Glory was a lot better.

Santana leaves and Eric Young comes back in to complain about the lack of attention. He keeps going to end the show.

Overall Rating: C. It’s not really a wrestling show as much as it was a show about wrestling. That made for a weird week, but what matters here is that it was a big time out after the pay per view. Bound For Glory worked well and thankfully they should be able to hit the ground running next week. It’s fine to take a week off, but maybe show some actual wrestling matches next time?

It’s the first show after the Showdown with NXT, but more importantly it’s the last show before this weekend’s Bound For Glory. That should make for a big night, though odds are we’ll be having a lot of talking. In addition, we have Eric Young vs. Joe Hendry II in a No DQ match. Let’s get to it.

Here is Trick Williams for a chat. Williams brags about his greatness before saying that Mike Santana is a fighter, which Williams can respect. Santana has a story but you also have to be the best for business, which is Williams. Cue Santana, who tells Williams to shut up in Spanish. Santana talks about the issues he’s had before, including telling his daughter that her dad was an addict. He has everything to gain, but Williams says after Sunday, Santana will be “bound for rehab”.

Santana isn’t phased by the words because he sees fear in Williams’ eyes. Williams is a one TRICK pony and after Bound For Glory, he’ll be bound for developmental while Santana is the World Champion. Santana feels like an absolute layup to win the title, and at this point he pretty much has to if he wants to have any kind of an important career.

Tessa Blanchard talks about Gia Miller being a big fan who tried to do everything Blanchard had done. Miller went off to train with Mike Jackson of all people and look where she is. Miller is happy with what she did and is ready to beat Blanchard up at Bound For Glory.

Ryan Nemeth vs. Matt Cardona

Nic Nemeth is here too. We get the pose off, which goes to Cardona (shocking I know) before he grabs a facebuster and clotheslines Ryan outside. The dropkick through the ropes connects but Nic’s distraction lets Ryan grab a neckbreaker on the floor. That’s only good for a nine on the floor and a short DDT gets two back inside. Ryan takes too long posing (again) and gets dropkicked so Nic trips Cardona up. That’s good for an ejection and the distraction lets Cardona hit Radio Silence for the pin at 6:03.

Rating: C. Ryan Nemeth continues to be a great lovable goof who is too stupid to do anything on his own, which is why he lost as soon as Nic left. He’s rather good in the role and plays it to near perfection. Cardona getting some wins is fine as he’s a star in his own right, though I wouldn’t bet on it going too far.

The Rascalz talk about Trey Miguel (allegedly) superkicking Zachary Wentz last week. Wentz eventually forgives them and then they smoke, which makes them reveal that their contracts are up by the end of the year.

Mara Sade talks about being inspired to be here by Jazz and now she wants to be an inspiration to young girls. That’s a nice sentiment.

JDC vs. Mustafa Ali

The System and Order 4 are here too. JDC starts fast and knocks him to the floor, followed by a powerslam for two back inside. Ali tries a springboard but gets dropkicked outside. The seconds offer a distraction though and Ali scores with a big suicide dive. We take a break and come back with Ali missing a 450 and getting sent hard into the corner.

JDC hits some running elbows in the corner and a Falcon Arrow gets two. Down And Dirty is loaded up but Ali rolls outside, where JDC hits a big flip dive. The big brawl breaks out on the floor and Agent Zero drops JDC onto the apron. That’s enough to set up the 450 to give Ali the pin at 10:31.

Rating: C+. JDC was working hard here and it was nice to see, as he can go rather well when he gets the chance. At the same time, Ali was his usual self and it made for a nice match. The whole thing was just a big preview for everything with the Hardcore War at Bound For Glory and I’m curious to see where it goes, so nice job with warming it up here.

Post match the System chases Order 4 away.

Long recap of NXT Showdown, with TNA doing fairly well, going 2-2.

Santino Marella brings out Kelani Jordan and Indi Hartwell for the contract signing for the Knockouts Title match. Before that can go anywhere though, here is the Personal Concierge to say that none of this matters because it isn’t about the Elegance Brand. Marella signs something about a rematch clause before Hartwell goes off about everything she has given up to be here. Jordan talks about how she had a chance to win a title and took the shot. Hartwell says her family is flying in from Australia to see her win and they both sign.

Video on the Hardys vs. Team 3D, looking at their history and similar career paths to get them here. They talk about their kids wanting to see them, with Jeff Hardy’s daughter talking about how much she loves watching her dad. They’ve done this for a long time and it ends here.

Here is Leon Slater for a chat. This has been the best year of his life and he can’t believe the things that have happened to him. He grew up without a father figure and never thought he was good enough. Now he’s a champion and he’s following the legacy of people who paved the way here, like Chris Sabin and AJ Styles. Je’Von Evans isn’t coming to take this from him because this is for all of the days that he stayed up crying to his mom, wondering if anyone was coming home. If you think you’re taking this from him, you’re crazy. Really good emotional stuff here and it made me more interested in the match.

Bound For Glory rundown.

Joe Hendry vs. Eric Young

No DQ. Hendry knocks him outside to start but Young is back in to slug away. They’re on the floor again with Hendry whipping out a bunch of weapons, including a trashcan to Young’s head. Young knocks him back down and chokes with a chain, which he wraps around his fist but punches the post by mistake. A piledriver onto the steps is countered with a backdrop and we take a break.

We come back with the fight on the stage, with Young quickly being thrown off of it. They brawl into the crowd with Young getting the better of things as they come back to ringside. Young wedges a chair into the corner and is of course sent face first into it as a result. Hendry fights back with a cookie sheet and Angle Slams Young onto a chair for two. Back up and Young kicks him low and hits a piledriver onto the chair for the pin at 14:25.

Rating: B-. This is pretty much it for Hendry in TNA right? I know he’ll probably still be around for a few more months, but it’s hard to imagine him being much of anything important on the way down. Granted it’s clear where he’ll be winding up next, but that’s going to be a hit for TNA going forward. Throw in Young seemingly getting a bigger spot and it’s going to be rough.

We get a long video on Mike Santana (narrated by Konnan), who has worked hard to get here and gambled on himself to get here. He’s here for the right reasons while Trick Williams is only here for the money. Konnan talks about how Santana is representing the Latinos and says something in Spanish to end the show.

Overall Rating: C+. This show was absolutely not about the wrestling and while that’s often annoying, it’s what makes the most sense here. Instead, this was about firming up everything that has already been set for the pay per view, which went pretty well. The main event was fine, even if a bit sad as Hendry seems practically done and that’s going to be a loss. Not a must see show, but that Slater promo and some of the video packages are worth a look.

We’re done with Victory Road and that means a few new champions, including Frankie Kazarian as the new International Champion. The biggest news is that we have a new Knockouts Champion in the form of NXT’s Kelani Jordan as Ash By Elegance was forced to vacate the title. Let’s get to it.

Santino Marella tells Mike Santana that he can’t touch Trick Williams outside of being physically provoked.

Opening sequence.

Here is Frankie Kazarian for the King’s Speech. There are a bunch of people coming for his title so he’s ready to fight. First though, he’s ready to wait here for his standing ovation. Kazarian talks down about various other champions before bringing out new Knockouts Champion Kelani Jordan.

Kazarian tells her about how evil the other Knockouts can be and suggests that Jordan is a fluke. Jordan lists off what she’s done but Kazarian says he doesn’t like the NXT stars as champions. That includes Trick Williams, who wouldn’t have beaten Kazarian. Cue Williams, who wants some respect on his name.

Williams brings up Mike Santana, but gets interrupted by Matt Hardy, who talks about why this company is on fire. Kazarian brings up how Jeff Hardy isn’t allowed in Canada but here is Leon Slater to defend his mentors. Jordan talks about herself instead so here is Indi Hartwell, to say she’s a different kind of challenger. Cue Santino Marella to try and calm things down. And make a six person tag, with Santana on commentary.

Frankie Kazarian/Trick Williams/Kelani Jordan vs. Indi Hartwell/Matt Hardy/Leon Slater

Mike Santana is on commentary. Hartwell and Jordan trade rollups for two each to start before Kazarian comes in. Hardy works on his arm and it’s off to Slater to hammer away in the corner. The women are already back in as we hear about TNA vs. NXT Showdown. Some knees to the back set up a bodyscissors on Hartwell, which doesn’t last long as Hartwell brings in Slater. Some running kicks in the corner put Williams down but he’s back with a full nelson as we take a break.

We come back with Kazarian hitting Williams by mistake, allowing the tag back to Hardy. The Side Effect gets two on Williams but Kazarian comes back in. Kazarian can’t get the chickenwing, instead having to settle for a slingshot cutter to Slater. Hartwell shoulders Kazarian down though and hits a top rope elbow as everything breaks down. Kazarian knocks Williams into Santana so the beatdown is on, with Slater hitting a big running flip dive to take Kazarian out. The Swanton 450 gives Slater the pin at 12:56.

Rating: B-. Slater’s rise continues and that is rather nice to see. The guy is one of the most talented stars in the company and he is holding up when it comes to the bigger challenges. You don’t see that very often, though I’m not quite sold on seeing the new champion take a fall less than a week after winning the title.

The TNA Showdown teams, plus some other stars, come out to the stage, with Tommy Dreamer getting to do the big pep talk.

We look at the big TNA vs. NXT brawl earlier this week.

Angel Warriors vs. Kat Von Heez/Ava Lawless

Lawless pulls Lee by the hair to start and it’s already off to Brookside as everything breaks down. Stereo right hands in the corner have Heez and Lawless in trouble and it’s off to Heez for a big legdrop. Brookside fights out of Lawless’ chinlock as everything breaks down. Thunderstruck sets up an assisted Brooksie Bomb for the pin on Heez at 4:06.

Rating: C. Just a step above a squash here and that’s how you get a new team over. The Warriors aren’t anything revolutionary but I can go with actually building up a new team to come after the titles. Just let them do this again a few more times and they’ll be set, as it isn’t like there is much of a division in the first place.

Joe Hendry is happy with beating Eric Young when Santino Marella comes in to make Hendry vs. Young next week, No DQ.

We get another Mike Santana video as Amazing Red (TNA legend) talks about all of the people who have paved the way for him to get here. He has faced disappointment after disappointment and now Santana needs to succeed. Trick Williams has come into his house and it’s time for Santana to fight back for all of them.

Nic Nemeth vs. Hometown Man

Ryan Nemeth is here too and offers an early distraction so Nic can take over. Man fights back but gets neckbreakered down, allowing Nic to drop the elbows. Some choking on the ropes lets Nic go after the mask, which triggers a comeback. A dropkick and running elbow set up Sliced Bread #2 for two on Nic, with Ryan putting a boot on the rope. Man dives onto Ryan and gets his mask back from Victory Road but he walks into a superkick. The Danger Zone gives Nic the pin at 4:19.

Rating: C. That’s Man’s first loss and it’s not exactly a terrible moment to lose to one of the biggest stars in the company. The same thing has happened to a bunch of people on the roster and there is a good chance that this continues for a few more weeks. Man’s deal isn’t exactly high concept stuff, but it’s working well enough.

Post match the beatdown is on but Matt Cardona makes the save. Where was he five minutes ago?

Gia Miller has allowed Tessa Blanchard’s suspension to be lifted and now they’re fighting at Bound For Glory. Miller doesn’t even care if she wins or loses, as long as she gets to beat Blanchard up. That’s the best they have for Blanchard at the biggest show of the year?

Tasha Steelz vs. Alisha Edwards

Their respective stables are here too. Edwards hammers away to start but Order 4 offers a distraction. Steelz chops her around and pounds Edwards down into the corner. A Falcon Arrow and superkick give Steelz two each and it’s time for everyone to argue on the floor. In the melee, Steelz gets a kendo stick but Edwards takes it away. One good shot and a Pedigree finish Steelz off at 4:23.

Rating: C. This was a good example of “it was exactly what it needed to be” as they gave us a nice preview of the Hardcore War at Bound For Glory. You don’t often see Edwards getting in the ring but she can handle herself in there and what little time she got here went well. They’re setting this story up well and that’s a promising sign.

Post match the brawl is on again.

Tessa Blanchard talks about helping Gia Miller, who stormed off and went to train with Mike Jackson. She’s fine with beating Miller up again.

Knockouts Tag Team Titles: IInspiration vs. Elegance Brand

The Brand is defending. McKay clotheslines Heather down to start and Lee quickly comes in for a double hiptoss. Heather sends her into the corner though and it’s off to M for a running boot to the face. Lee hurricanranas her way out of the corner and stomps away on Heather as everything breaks down.

Stereo corner clotheslines allow the IInspiration to pose but Heather sends Lee into the corner. It’s back to M to stomp away and a suplex gets two as we take a break. We come back with M’s running backsplash getting two but McKay breaks away. Thankfully M is right there to pull Lee off the apron, meaning there’s no tag just yet.

A big boot gets two on McKay and it’s off to the double arm crank. That’s broken up and the tag brings in Lee to clean house. Lee’s Blue Thunder Bomb gets two on Heather but M is there with a superkick to give Heather two of her own. The Personal Concierge gives Heather some champagne, which goes into M’s face by mistake. The Idolizer gives the IInspiration the titles back at 14:17.

Rating: B-. They didn’t have much of a choice here, as there was little reason to keep the Elegance Brand together after Ash went away. The IInspiration are a great example of a team who can give the titles some stability before they drop them down to another team. If nothing else, this shows that the IInspiration still has it rather than living off their past successes, which was rather needed.

Overall Rating: C+. In theory all sights should be set on Bound For Glory but that is only going to happen after Showdown next week. That makes for a bit of rushed build, though the stuff with NXT will give TNA even better exposure. They need to get to the Bound For Glory build exclusively though, which hopefully will be the case next week.

It’s the night before Victory Road, which isn’t exactly looking like the most important show. There is only so much that can be done as we are on the way to Bound For Glory, making Victory Road little more than a glorified pit stop. Hopefully they find a way to spice it up a bit so let’s get to it.

Rascalz vs. Leon Slater/Cedric Alexander

Myron Reed is on commentary. Alexander gets taken into the corner to start and a Dream Sequence has him in more trouble. The four way brawl is on as everything breaks down, though we settle into Miguel slugging it out with Alexander. A suplex puts Miguel down and Slater comes in to start on the arm. Miguel slips out of a suplex though and it’s off to Wentz, who gets caught in the wrong corner. A high crossbody gives Slater two but Wentz knees him down to take over.

Miguel’s double stomp gets two and some rapid fire kicks set up the chinlock. Slater is back up with a running cutter and it’s back to Alexander to clean house. The Michinoku Driver gets two but everything breaks down, with Slater hitting a slingshot dive to the floor. Reed offers a distraction though and Wentz Swantons a hanging Slater for two. Alexander is back in to send Wentz outside for a heck of a suicide dive. Slater is able to hit the Swanton 450 for the pin on Miguel at 10:26.

Rating: B-. As usual, TNA knows how to open a show in the right way, as this kind of high flying, fast paced match is always going to be a fun starter. Slater is on his way to a medium title defense tomorrow night and then we get on to whatever his big story is going to be at Bound For Glory. For now, at least we got to see his awesome finisher, which works every time.

Jake Something and Frankie Kazarian are ready to face Steve Maclin and Mr. Anderson tonight. Kazarian is going to take the International Title at Bound For Glory and he mocks Anderson’s catchphrase.

We look at NXT invading NXT on Tuesday.

Earlier today, Eric Young demanded that Santino Marella put him in a match with Joe Hendry. Sure.

Victoria Crawford vs. Jody Threat

Threat grabs a headlock to start, followed by some rapid fire clotheslines in the corner. Crawford is able to send her throat first into the bottom rope and pound away at the back, only to miss a big boot. Threat’s boot sets up a release German suplex…but Tessa Blanchard is back for a distraction. Crawford scores with an ax kick for the win at 4:09.

Rating: C. The match was just a backdrop for Blanchard’s return and a distraction, which is fine as Blanchard is a big deal. Crawford’s return has been good enough and a nice little addition to the division, as she’s far from a top star but at least she’s getting to do something. I’m not sure what’s next in all of this, but I would hope Blanchard gets to do something other than face Gia Miller.

Joe Hendry is ready to face Eric Young, who was his mentor back in the day. Then things changed and now Young wants to get rid of him. Young is the one who has changed and Hendry will teach him a lesson at Victory Road.

The System is ready for the Hardcore War with Order 4 but Moose wants Mustafa Ali at Victory Road, one on one.

Battle Royal

Mara Sade, Matt Cardona, Home Town Man, Mance Warner, Xia Brookside, Lei Ying Lee, AJ Francis, Rosemary, Ryan Nemeth, Killer Kelly

The winner enters the Call Your Shot Gauntlet last and the final one eliminated enters it first. Francis runs his mouth before the bell and threatens Rosemary, who mists him. Everyone else jumps Francis and he’s out first. Nemeth goes to the floor (not out) for some choking and Sade is eliminated. Kelly is out as well and Warner chokes on the Man in the corner. Rosemary gets tossed and Warner clotheslines Lee and Brookside.

The Man loses his Twins jersey but reveals a Timberwolves jersey in a nice touch. Cardona helps him go after Warner, who sends them both to the apron, where Nemeth eliminates them both. Nemeth isn’t done as he tosses Brookside but gets low bridged by Lee. We’re down to Lee vs. Warner, with Lee busting out the martial arts. Warner sends her to the apron though and kicks her out for the win at 6:16.

Rating: C. It’s nice that they kept this quick and Warner as a threat to win the whole thing is a nice way to go. He’s the kind of villain who could do a lot of evil with the contract, though him winning is probably a long shot. This was hardly a good battle royal, but at least they kept it from taking up too much of the show for the sake of two people moving on to another battle royal.

Mickie James and the Beautiful People are going into the Hall Of Fame. Yeah that’s fair.

We get a rather jumpy video on Mike Santana’s road to Bound For Glory. He has never given up and this is everything to him. We hear from what appears to be his daughter, who wants him to win.

Here is Santino Marella to introduce the Hardys and Team 3D for the Final Negotiation. In a show of respect, Team 3D lets the Hardys go first. Matt talks about how these might be the best teams ever and we get an exchange of praises. If the Hardys want to be the best ever though, they need to beat Team 3D. We get a quick TLC flashback, with D-Von saying he and Jeff are never hanging from a ladder again “you crazy son of a b****.”

Jeff references Edge and Christian and Bully brings up the Dudley Boyz before saying the Hardys need Team 3D. That’s fine with Matt, who wants the losers to shake the winners’ hands and say they’re the best of all time. The Hardys are even willing to put up the title, with Santino Marella making it official…but Bully says no. The fans want tables so Bully talks about losing in a tables match at the 2000 Royal Rumble. That has always bothered them so we’ll do it again in a tables match. The contract is ripped up as all we need is a handshake. Well good, as that contract wouldn’t have had any of the details they just established.

Mustafa Ali, with Order 4, is tired of the System and the team is ready for both Victory Road and Bound For Glory. Ali recaps the rules of a Hardcore War and suggests that the match at Victory Road determines who has the advantage in Hardcore War. The System comes in for the staredown.

Victory Road rundown.

Frankie Kazarian/Jake Something vs. Mr. Anderson/Steve Maclin

Anderson doesn’t have a mic dropping in from the ceiling so Maclin gets a chair and lowers one to him for his introduction (I chuckled). Maclin and Kazarian start things off but Kazarian hands it off to Something instead. A shoulder and forearm to the back of the head have Maclin down and now it’s off to Kazarian, who gets to face Anderson for a nice reaction. Some forearms and a backdrop have Kazarian down so Maclin comes back in to take care of Something. The villains take a breather on the floor until Maclin pulls Kazarian back inside.

We take a break and come back with Anderson fighting his way out of trouble so Maclin can come back in. The spear misses Something in the corner though and Kazarian takes Maclin down on the floor. Back in and Something chinlocks Kazarian but he’s back up with a clothesline for the breather. Anderson comes in to clean house, including a Green Bay Plunge for two on Kazarian.

The Mic Check is blocked but Fade To Black is reversed into the Mic Check, with Something making the save. Kazarian gives Anderson a Backstabber into the Flux Capacitor for two, with the fans getting way into the kickout. Maclin is back in to clear out the villains as everything breaks down. Another Mic Check drops Something and KIA pins Kazarian at 16:41.

Rating: B-. I wasn’t expecting much here and it wound up being a pretty nice main event. The fans were into what Anderson was doing and having him back for a one off match is a fine idea. He’s a legend around here so it was a nice short term return. Kazarian feels very likely to win the title at Bound For Glory too, so at least the story is getting some attention, even with Kazarian losing here.

Overall Rating: C+. This did what it could to make Victory Road look more important, but the show is little more than a preview for Bound For Glory. The action here was ok, but it was mainly just filler as the two major shows were set up. That only makes for a somewhat interesting episode, though at least it did accomplish its main goals.

We’re coming up on Victory Road, which is going to have its work cut out for it with Bound For Glory coming up just a month later. That show is going to get the big focus so Victory Road is only going to mean so much. The big story this week will be focusing on the Tag Team Titles as the Nemeths are getting a shot at the Hardys. Let’s get to it.

We get another promotion for the Minnesota charity shirt. Still nothing wrong with that.

Mustafa Ali vs. Brian Myers

The rest of Order 4 and the System are both here. Myers slugs away to start and quickly knocks him out to the floor. We get the big staredown between the teams on the floor and Ali hits a big suicide dive. Back in and Myers hits his implant DDT but John Skyler offers a distraction, meaning the top rope elbow misses. Ali gets a rollup for the pin at 2:35.

Post match the teams get in a brawl and we get the big Moose vs. Agent Zero showdown. Zero drops him with a headbutt but Moose pops back up and they have to be held out. Santino Marella comes out to make a Hardcore War at Bound For Glory.

The Nemeths are ready to get the Tag Team Titles back because it’s not a ladder match.

The Personal Concierge suggests to Dani Luna that she could get a Bound For Glory title shot if she just takes out Indi Hartwell tonight. Luna thinks about it.

We look at the set up of Oba Femi vs. Trick Williams for the NXT and TNA World Title.

Judas Icarus vs. Eric Young

Travis Williams is here with Icarus, who jumps Young to start fast. Icarus runs him over but Young hits an elbow to the face (with the lights seeming to dim) and is back with a gutwrench powerbomb. The piledriver is blocked though and Icarus makes the comeback, with a frog splash connecting for two. Something like a Blue Thunder Bomb gets two and they go up, with Young biting the face to knock him down. Young drops a top rope elbow for two and loads up the piledriver but here is Joe Hendry for a distraction. Icarus grabs a rollup for the pin at 5:11.

Rating: C. This was a big win for Icarus but it’s the kind of win that is more credited to Hendry than anything else. This feels like it might be one of the last big feuds for Hendry around here and that’s not exactly the best feeling. At least Young hasn’t been doing the Cleanse or whatever he was threatening us with before as I don’t think I could take another thing like that.

Post match Young knocks out the referee.

Victoria Crawford is back with her talk show, Mentor U, with guest Jody Threat. Crawford brings up Gia Miller, who interrupts and threatens Tessa Blanchard again. That doesn’t work for Crawford, who doesn’t like the profanity.

The Rascalz are happy with Myron Reed for going after the X-Division Title and let off some steam. And smoke. Santino Marella pops in and…has a cookie?

IInspiration/Masha Slamovich vs. Elegance Brand

Slamovich and Heather start things off, though Heather needs a quick spank to get her into the ring. Everything breaks down and the Brand is kicked down and sent out to the floor as we take an early break. We come back with the Brand getting to take turns on McKay in the corner, with Heather getting to stomp away.

The running corner dropkick gets two and Heather grabs the chinlock. McKay kicks her way out and brings in Slamovich to clean house, including an assisted DDT to make Heather DDT M. Lee goes after M but Ash throws…something in Lee’s eyes so M can get a rollup for the pin at 9:31.

Rating: C+. The match was a nice back and forth effort, with Slamovich being protected before she gets a title shot against Ash By Elegance. The other four are just doing their usual things and that’s not the most exciting stuff. It feels like the Brand could be a big deal for a long time to come, as they certainly seem to be in the right place at the moment.

Here is Frankie Kazarian for the King’s Speech and now it’s time to make this city focus on a King rather than a Prince. His guest this week is…himself, as he is ready to become the next International Champion. That’s not all though as he has another guest in the form of Mr. Anderson of all people. Anderson calls this home and he is happy to be back in a TNA ring for the first time in nine years.

Kazarian brings up Anderson’s military career but thinks Anderson seems like a coward. He asks what branch Kazarian served in but Kazarian brings up Anderson’s family being here. Would Anderson’s mother and kids be ok with seeing Kazarian give Anderson a beating? Kazarian keeps talking trash until Anderson goes after him, with Jake Something running in to take Anderson down. Steve Maclin makes the save. This is a good way to use a company legend and it was a nice surprise.

Dani Luna vs. Indi Hartwell

Hartwell jumps her to start fast and sends Luna out to the floor. Back in and Hartwell tries to send her to the floor but gets hit in the face. A suplex sends Hartwell down again and Luna adds another to keep Hartwell in trouble. Hartwell fires back with some elbows but gets dropped with a clothesline. Hartwell is up for the real comeback and knocks Luna outside, where Luna comes up with a chair to the ribs for the DQ at 5:31.

Rating: C. This only got so much time and the ending was more about Luna getting to hurt Hartwell rather than beat her. At the same time, I really don’t get the appeal of Hartwell, who feels like a rather generic star. She’s in for a huge title match at Bound For Glory and that could be the start of a rather uninspiring title reign.

Post match Luna wrecks her with the chair.

Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside talk about being great friends and dub themselves the Angel Warriors.

Mike Santana vs. AJZ

AJZ runs his mouth on the way to the ring and Santana Spins The Block for the pin at 31 seconds.

Santana calls out Trick Williams before their match at Bound For Glory but NXT’s Ridge Holland runs in to lay him out.

Tag Team Titles: Nemeths vs. Hardys

The Hardys are defending and Matt Cardona is on commentary. The Nemeths start fast and get sent outside with an early double clothesline. We take an early break and come back with Nic cutting Jeff off as Ryan grabbing Jeff’s leg. Jeff misses the Whisper In The Wind and Ryan comes in to pound on Jeff a bit. Nic’s chinlock doesn’t last long so he fires off the elbows, including the big jumping version.

Jeff finally fights up and hits a Whisper In The Wind to take them both out for a breather. The diving tag brings in Matt to clean house, including the powerbomb out of the corner for two on Nic. The middle rope elbow to the back of the neck drops Nic again but he’s right back with a Fameasser for two. Ryan’s DDT into Nick’s top rope elbow gets two more so Ryan tries to grab the belt. Cardona cuts that off and the Twist Of Fate into the Swanton retains the titles at 11:56.

Rating: B. This was a good match between the teams who work well together, though we’re coming up on the Hardys vs. the Dudleys one more time. That’s going to be a rather different kind of match and the nostalgia is going to have to carry them a long way. I’m not sure what is next for the Nemeths, as they seem to be ready to go after Cardona, who is going to need a partner.

Overall Rating: C+. This wasn’t a great show, though the main event did help it a lot. It doesn’t help that TNA seems to be building towards Bound For Glory more than Victory Road, which really feels like a nothing stop. Thankfully we’ll be done with that next week and ready to move on to the big show, but it isn’t making these shows much easier.

We’re back to the taped format here as Victory Road is coming up pretty soon. That show is going to be tricky enough as it is little more than a pit stop on the way to Bound For Glory next month. It’s going to be difficult to get some interest going, but maybe they can have a good idea or two. Let’s get to it.

Moose vs. AJ Francis

Hold on though as here is Order 4, with Mustafa Ali to watch. Ali shakes Francis’ hand and sits in on commentary and Moose is up with a dropkick to start fast. They go outside with Francis getting in a shot of his own and sending Moose into the apron. We take a break and come back with Moose grabbing a suplex and they go outside.

Francis cuts off a charge with an apron bomb for two, followed by a running knee in the corner. Moose uses the power of fist pumps to come back and a spinning high crossbody drops Francis. The spear misses for Moose though and Francis hits one of his own for a near fall. The Secret Service’s distraction doesn’t make much of a difference, as Moose is right back with a spear for the win at 9:27.

Rating: C+. This was about having two big guys beat each other up, with Francis rapidly turning into a decent power guy. He’s figured out a lot in recent months and that’s nice to see. Moose is probably on his way to something with Mustafa Ali, or Order 4 as a whole though, and that’s an intriguing prospect.

Post match Moose challenges Ali to a match but doesn’t get an answer.

The System is ready to take out the Nemeths.

The Rascalz are back together in the Tree House and they want to win some titles. Then the smoke starts up and they can’t figure out Jake Something’s name.

Joe Hendry vs. Eric Young

Young comes to the ring with the Northern Armory and makes his usual threats, allowing Travis Williams to jump Hendry. We get the opening bell, which apparently signals false advertising as Young isn’t in the match.

Joe Hendry vs. Travis Williams

Hendry fights back and hits a suplex but Young offers a distraction. Williams’ running knee gets two but a springboard tornado DDT is blocked. The fall away slam sends Williams flying and an AA into the Standing Ovation finishes for Hendry at 3:16.

Rating: C-. I’m really not big on the false advertising like that but it’s something that happens in wrestling. Odds are Hendry vs. Young takes place at Victory Road, which I’ll take over having to hear about The Cleanse or whatever it is this time. I’m sure we’ll see more about it sooner than later, but for now at least Hendry got to show off a bit.

Post match Hendry bails from Young and Judas Icarus. Young yells at the Armory and drops them with two piledrivers apiece.

We look back at Frankie Kazarian beating Matt Cardona last week, thanks to Ryan Nemeth.

Cardona tells Ryan to put his nose in Cardona’s business again.

Here is Victoria Crawford, who has her own podcast. Her first guest is Gia Miller, with Crawford yelling at her over getting Tessa Blanchard suspended. Miller blames Blanchard for her own actions and Crawford made it worse, with threats of violence ensuing. Jody Threat runs in to break it up, with Crawford bailing to leave Miller fuming.

Jake Something vs. Zachary Wentz vs. Trey Miguel vs. Myron Reed

The inner gets an X-Division Title shot against Leon Slater, on commentary, at Victory Road. The Rascalz all bail outside to start before coming back in for a triple dropkick. Something shrugs that off and takes them all down. The Rascalz send him outside for a dive before we get a three way rollup exchange. Miguel punches Wentz down but Something is back in to run through everyone.

Wentz is powerbombed onto Reed for two but the Rascalz are back with a triplebomb out of the corner. The Rascalz slug it out until Something is back with Into The Void for two on Miguel. Wentz is back up with the UFO Cutter to Something but Miguel pulls him out. That leaves Reed to 450 Something for the pin at 8:08. Reed’s shocked face is great.

Rating: B-. I can go for the idea of mixing things up here as they didn’t go with the idea of the one different person wins. While Reed doesn’t seem to have much of a chance at winning the title, it’s very nice to see someone fresh getting a shot. That’s a smart thing to do and hopefully they can make the match part of it work in a few weeks.

Jake Something is in the back when he runs into Frankie Kazarian. Despite the loss, Kazarian offers him a spot by his side as Kazarian wins the International Title. Does he want to finally be…..something?

Heather By Elegance vs. Jessie McKay

Their partners are here too. Heather stomps away in the corner for two to start and we’re already in a chinlock. McKay fights up and sends her into the corner for some running knees, followed by a big boot. The Press Release (Gory Special) is loaded up but the Personal Concierge offers a distraction. Heather grabs a rollup and M grabs her feet for the pin at 3:10.

Rating: C-. There is only so much you can do with this kind of time but at least they did a smart finish by having the Elegance Brand cheat. That’s where everything tends to go with them so everything made sense. The IInspiration isn’t exactly inspiring lately, but it’s not like they have much else to do around here.

Post match Cassie Lee gets in to check on McKay and gets jumped. Cue Santino Marella to make the match.

Cassie Lee vs. M By Elegance

M tries to run but gets thrown back inside for the opening bell. A running big boot in the corner drops Lee for two and M’s snap suplex gets two more. Another big boot gets another near fall and we hit the double arm crank. That’s broken up so Lee can make the clothesline comeback into a Codebreaker for two. Heather gets in a cheap shot but McKay takes her out, leaving Lee to hit a swinging suplex for the pin at 5:07.

Rating: C. Slightly better match here, partially because they had a little bit more time to put it together. I’m not wild on having the two teams split like this but at least the ending could set the IInspiration up for something. It’s a basic way of going, though if you want the IInspiration to look strong, just have them sweep the night.

Steve Maclin talks about standing side by side in the Marines and now Frankie Kazarian is coming after him. That’s fine with Maclin, who isn’t getting through.

The Elegance Brand complains to Santino Marella about the upcoming title match against Masha Slamovich. Marella agrees and makes it No DQ with Indi Hartwell as guest referee. Oh and the IInspiration gets a Knockouts Tag Team Title match at Victory Road.

We recap the recent TNA issues on NXT.

Mike Santana is coming through the crowd for a match but Trick Williams jumps him from behind. Security breaks it up.

Nemeths vs. System

Nic and Myers start things off and go to the mat, with Nic getting two off a quick rollup. A dropkick sends Nic out to the apron and it’s Edwards coming in to send him into the corner. Everything breaks down and the System clears the ring as we take a break. We come back with Edwards fighting out of trouble and handing it back to Myers.

Ryan actually drops him so Nick can hit a top rope elbow, with Edwards making the save. The chinlock doesn’t last long and it’s back to Edwards to pick up the pace. A quick Fameasser gives Nic two and they’re both down. The Danger Zone is blocked and Edwards grabs a Blue Thunder Bomb with Ryan making the save. Cue Order 4 for a distraction, allowing Nic to hit a superkick into the Danger Zone for the pin at 12:44.

Rating: B-. If you want the Nemeths to be built up for their title rematch, this is the kind of win that they need to get. It wasn’t exactly a classic, but the Nemeths got to capitalize on the Order 4’s interference which should give us more between Order 4 and the System. Nice job of setting up two stories at once here.

Post match the Nemeths say they’re getting the title rematch next week so here are the Hardys to chase them off to end the show.

Overall Rating: C+. The show did a nice job of setting things up for Victory Road, though the action itself was only so good. The main event worked well enough but the rest was a good deal of quick stuff to keep the show moving. Victory Road is coming together well enough and that’s what matters the most, with the show in just a few weeks.

We’re coming up on victory Road and the show is not likely to include Trick Williams defending the World Title. Williams is instead doing one of those things about this not being a safe working environment, which went about as well as you could expect. The show is in just over three weeks and Mike Santana is going to need something to do there. Let’s get to it.

We open with a nice moment as some of the bigger names on the roster are on the stage, with a moment of silence for the victims of a recent shooting in Minneapolis. TNA is releasing a special shirt with 100% of the proceeds going to the school where the shooting took place. That’s very cool to see.

Here is Santino Marella to get things going. He calls Trick Williams a liar and gets to finish last week’s announcement: Mike Santana is challenging Williams for the World Title at Bound For Glory. This brings out a rather happy Santana, who promises to bring the title back to TNA. Williams can hide behind his fancy words and contracts, but Santana can just come see him in NXT.

Mara Sade and the Hardys aren’t happy with Order 4 and are ready to take them out tonight.

Moose says Mike Santana is the man to bring the World Title back to TNA. Santana appreciates it but AJ Francis shows up, mocks Moose, and gets challenged to a match next week. Francis mocks Santana about Trick Williams’ lawyers and leaves.

Here is Ryan Nemeth for a chat. HIS BIG BROTHER is back tonight but here is Matt Cardona to interrupt. No one cares about Nemeth’s big brother, because he sucks. That’s enough for Ryan to get annoyed and then run off.

Matt Cardona vs. Frankie Kazarian

Cardona starts fast with the flapjack to send Kazarian outside, which sets up the dropkick through the ropes. Ryan Nemeth gets in a cheap shot from the floor and we take a break. We come back with Kazarian grabbing a chinlock but Cardona pops up for some running clotheslines.

Cardona knocks him into the corner but Kazarian gets outside before the Reboot. Nemeth offers a distraction though and Kazarian grabs the slingshot cutter for two. Cardona’s spinebuster gets two more but he has to hit Radio Silence on Nemeth. That’s enough for Kazarian to grab Fade To Black for the pin at 10:56.

Rating: C+. This was more about Nemeth getting on Cardona’s nerves and costing him the match, which is a fine way to go. Nemeth is at his best when he’s out there annoying people, as he’s only good for so many things. Kazarian continues to get built up for Bound For Glory season and it might be time for him to win the International Title.

Post match Kazarian talks about how he wants the World Title and on the way there, he might try to win the International Title. That kind of a title shouldn’t be held by a jarhead like Steve Maclin, but rather someone like him.

The IInspiration are very interested in tonight’s Knockouts Tag Team Title match.

Here is the Elegance Brand to welcome Ash By Elegance, the new Knockouts Champion. The rest of the team has some gifts for them: a commissioned portrait, bottles of champagne with her face on them and…well that’s it apparently. Ash says she is the Knockouts savior and doesn’t think Masha Slamovich could do this. Cue Slamovich, who really doesn’t seem to agree. Slamovich comes in for the brawl but gets beaten down, with Lei Ying Lee and Xia Brookside running in for the failed save attempt. The IInspiration makes the real save. Slamovich gets to wreck the portrait. Fine way to advance two stories.

Mustafa Ali promises to go after anyone who tries to stop Order 4, including the System.

Dani Luna vs. Indi Hartwell vs. Jody Threat

Luna is knocked to the floor to start, leaving Threat to clothesline Hartwell. Back in and Luna is sent outside again but comes back in to knock Hartwell off the top. Luna plants Threat and drops Hartwell again, only to get in a slugout with Threat. Hartwell is back up for the clothesline comeback and drops an elbow for two on Luna. Threat is back up with a driver for two on Luna before going to the apron for a slugout with Hartwell. Luna is kicked out to the floor and Threat trades rollups with Hartwell, only for Hartwell to get the pin at 7:13.

Rating: C+. The Hartwell push is upon us and that’s going to get her to Bound For Glory. Other than that, you have the continuing issues between the former Spitfire and…yeah it’s still hard to get interested in them. The team was only so interesting in the first place and it’s not getting much better to see them feuding. Luna going evil is at least something though.

Post match Luna lays both of them out.

We look back at Eric Young laying out Joe Hendry last week.

Here is Hendry for a chat. Hendry says he can be here anywhere in the world but he’s right here in Minneapolis and seems to pay a bit of tribute to the school shooting victims. After that, he moves on to Eric Young, who he needs to deal with right now. Cue Young and the Northern Armory, with Young saying there is a state of emergency in wrestling. Hendry needs to be cleansed so he challenges Young to a match right now. Young says we’ll do it next week, which is where the cleanse begins. Yeah sure. Just don’t let Young talk. Or be around here.

Leon Slater hears about the Rascalz being cleared. He wants to remind people what the X-Division Title is all about and Santino Marella seems to approve.

Here’s what’s coming at Victory Road and Bound For Glory.

Trick Williams says he doesn’t owe TNA anything and isn’t showing up anytime soon.

Order 4 vs. Mara Sade/The Hardys

Matt takes Hotch down into the corner for a legdrop from Jeff (in all….kind of pink). Everything breaks down and Matt and Sade hit a double DDT to the three villains. Sade stays in to beat up Steelz before Jeff elbows Hotch. A distraction lets Agent Zero grab Jeff for a distraction but gets ejected. That’s enough for Hotch to get in a cheap shot though and some elbows have Jeff in trouble as we take a break.

We come back with Jeff coming in to clean house, with Matt grabbing the Side Effect on Skyler. A Whisper In The Wind takes out the Hands but a slingshot spear drops Matt. Sade gives Steelz Finish Her and hits a moonsault (with Lita pose, which is at least a bit awkward with Matt there) to Skyler. Jeff adds the Swanton for the pin at 10:01.

Rating: C+. The Hardys aren’t going to have trouble against the Great Hands, but Sade has gone from pretty much nothing to a nice hand in the span of a few weeks. That’s not bad at all and I could go for seeing what she can do. The match was nothing out of the ordinary, though the Litasault was a nice little tribute, even if Sade isn’t quite that kind of a star.

Post match the Nemeths are back to take out the Hardys and Nic superkicks Sade. Well that’s a heel move.

Overall Rating: B-. Nice enough show here, with the tribute at the beginning being a very sweet moment. What mattered the most was starting the push towards the two upcoming big shows. I’m curious to see where things go for both of them, and now at least the cards are coming together. There wasn’t much in the way of wrestling here, but what we got was certainly passable. Maybe it was a bit odd for them as a live edition, but things should be back to normal next week.
