The Best Wrestling Podcasts Of 2021

Wrestling fans often forget how good they have it in the 21st century. Watching old WWF matches on a tiny TV screen in standard definition just doesn’t compare to the way we can enjoy the sport today.

Not only that, but the wealth of online wrestling content means you’ll never run out of things to watch, read and listen to.

One of the biggest sources of wrestling information in recent years has been podcasts. The format has grown rapidly since the early 2010s thanks to smartphones making it easier to find, download and listen to them on the go. With podcasts that cater to just about every topic imaginable, from poker to Esports, nearly half of all Americans have listened to at least one, with around 90 million doing so each month.

For wrestling fans, there are enough shows out there that you could spend all your waking hours listening to the latest news and discussions about it. But if you’re looking for quality over quantity, then here are the podcasts you should be listening to in 2021.

Going in Raw

With a name that’s sure to bring an immature smirk to your face, the Going in Raw podcast is presented by Steve and Larson, two big pro wrestling fans. They started the show back in 2014 and have been publishing regular shows ever since. Both guys are good friends and passionate about what they do, which really comes across in their presentations.

Going in Raw is published most days, with some days seeing more than one release. Most last around an hour, though some are a little shorter.

You can find Going in Raw on most podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts and PlayerFM.

Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast

The veteran pro wrestling journalist Wade Keller certainly knows a thing or two about the sport after spending more than 30 years covering it. He runs the popular Pro Wrestling Torch newsletter, which he founded way back in 1987, and has been hosting his Pro Wrestling Podcast since 2017.

With so much experience, you can be sure you’re listening to some of the best insight from the world of professional wrestling.

Keller publishes the Pro Wrestling Podcast several times a week (usually on Tuesdays and Thursdays with a few extras thrown in for good measure), with most lasting around two hours, giving you plenty of wrestling content to get your teeth into.

You can find the Wade Keller Pro Wrestling Podcast on Stitcher, Apple Podcasts, PlayerFM and most other places where you can download podcasts.

Prime Time with Sean Mooney

If you’re feeling a little nostalgic for wrestling of old, this podcast from the former WWE announcer will be right up your street. In addition to working as an anchor for the National Wrestling Alliance and the KVOA TV station, Mooney publishes his podcast several times a month.

Lasting around 60-90 minutes apiece, each episode of Prime Time with Sean Mooney sees him interview some of the biggest names from wrestling during the 80s, 90s, and 00s. Recent interviews have included Todd Pettengill, Scott Norton, and The Blue Meanie.

Prime Time with Sean Mooney is available on all the usual podcast platforms.

Highway2Helms w/ Shane Helms

Shane Helms has been involved in professional wrestling since 1991. In that time he’s competing in the WWE, WCE, and several independent promotions. Today he works as a backstage producer for the WWE, though he has also made the occasional appearance in the ring. The most recent being an All Elite Wrestling cameo in November last year.

Being on the inside of professional wrestling, Helms is in the perfect position to share great insights, something he does every Wednesday in his Highway2Helms w/ Shane Helms podcast.

Each episode is different though, with discussions on everything from fantasy football to where Helms has been travelling to recently, mixed with plenty of wrestling content. It’s great if you want some variety in your listening.

Highway2Helms w/ Shane Helms is available on all the usual podcast platforms, including Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, and Spotify.

The Wrestlers Set To Stun In 21

The New Year may only be a month old but we’ve already enjoyed one of the standout events in any wrestling calendar. The drama and thrills of Royal Rumble never fail to disappoint and, in 2021, we witnessed one of the most incredible comebacks of all time.

Royal Rumble has set the tone for another great year but who should we look out for as the campaign continues?

Edge

There’s really only one place to start and here we have a man who pulled off one of the most historic doubles in wrestling history. Edge first won Royal Rumble back in 2010 and, following a gap of almost ten years, he’s back on the winners’ rostrum. Claiming the title is a remarkable feat in itself but, as the number one entrant, Edge was ranked as one of the outside bets with sportsbooks linked to sbo.net.

Winning Royal Rumble on multiple occasions is nothing new and, in the 34 years since this competition began, no fewer than seven wrestlers have completed the double. A second win remains a big achievement and, when combined with the number one entry point, it’s nothing short of astonishing.

Edge is set for a big year and those sportsbooks affiliated to sbo.net will continue to monitor his progress, providing odds plus news and opinion as 2021 develops.

Dominik Mysterio

One of the outstanding rookies of 2020, Dominik Mysterio made his debut in WWE at the summer slam in August and many feel that he’s set for a stunning year. If we take a look at Mysterio’s pedigree then it’s no great surprise that he should be making a splash as he comes from a long line of successful competitors.

Regular WWE followers will be well aware that Dominik is the son of Rey Mysterio jr who has been competing in WWE for many years after making his professional debut in 1989. Dominik has therefore been around the wrestling circles for a while and his entry in the second half of 2020 shows some promise. A steel cage match on RAW was particularly impressive and his knowledge of the sport has shone through in those early performances.

Lita

At the start of every wrestling year, one of the most entertaining games to play involves identifying likely comebacks. Many names are mentioned but one of the most plausible suggestions involves Lita.

Having originally competed at WWE on a regular basis from 2000 to 2006, she’s no stranger to comebacks and has stayed close to the circuit ever since. As a trainer and commentator, Lita remained in the public eye while continuing to make the occasional entry into the ring.

In 2018, she made a surprise appearance at Royal Rumble and, crucially, she’s always remained competitive whenever she’s stepped back into the ring. At the age of 45, it would be a big ask for Lita to land titles but few observers would rule it out.

Bianca Belair

Bianca Belair is another young wrestler who is tipped for an outstanding year after bubbling under the main WWE roster for some time. Having been taken under the wing of NXT in 2018, she made the step up two years later and early battles haven’t disappointed her growing legion of fans.

All of that great potential was realised when she claimed the women’s Royal Rumble and, while that makes Belair an obvious choice in this section, there’s clearly much more to come. At the age of 31, she’s something of a late developer but Bianca Belair is set for a stellar 12 months.

Hulk, Rock or Trump?

Having discussed one of the more likely WWE comebacks in 2021, we finish with a quick look at some of the more outrageous suggestions. They may seem outlandish but the organization is set up to shock and entertain so would it be a great surprise if any of these names made it back into the ring?

The Rock may be the more plausible as he’s in better physical shape although Hulk Hogan is the man who has been most vocal about a return. Meanwhile, Vince McMahon teased us with reports of a return for his old adversary Donald Trump. It didn’t materialise at Royal Rumble but stranger things have happened.

I’m Sorry For Being So Slow Lately

The wife and I got some rather bad news earlier this week and work hasn’t exactly been on my mind.  I’m not sure when I’ll be back to normal but I should have the regular shows up.  As for the more minor ones (including Impact, which a few people felt the need to complain about being late), it’s one of the lowest viewed things on the site.  I know there are some people who like to read it, but there are only so many hours in the day and Impact is pretty low on my priorities list at the best of times.  I’ll try to pick up the pace a bit but it’s been a rough week.

Changed The Ads Setup

So ever since the redesign of the site, the ads revenue has cratered and something had to be changed.  I’ve set up a new thing where Google decides where the ads are placed, which means there will be a few in the reviews (I’m not putting them there myself and have rather limited control over them).  The revenue has already popped back up and I’ve already had one of my best days in months by 9am, but if they get too bad that you can’t stand them, let me know and I’ll think about changing them back.  Otherwise, I ask that you please bear with them as, assuming this morning isn’t an outlier, this is bumping my revenue up by more than 10x over.

Again: if they’re too bad, let me know, but if they’re tolerable, please bear with them if you can, as it might be a complete game changer for me.

Merry Christmas Everyone

Have a good one and, if safely possible, be with your loved ones.  At worst, call them up and talk with them for a bit if you can.  THis year has taught us that you don’t know when you might not be able to again, so cherish the time while you can.  It’s worth it all the time, but especially today.

Pick A Royal Rumble For Me To Redo

It’s that time of year again.  Starting on December 28 I’ll be redoing the Royal Rumbles in order, including a fresh edition of the 2020 show.  I’ll redo another one and you can vote in the comments on which you want.  All are eligible except for the following (mainly ones I’ve done recently or done too many times before):

2006

2014

2011

The Tinkering Continues (Mobile Version)

I’ve added a menu to the mobile version of the site.  Now you should see a red bar at the top of any page on mobile with a drop down menu option.  This will give you options for things like the home page, All Reviews, Ask KB and more.  I’ll probably be making some more changes in the future too.  Let me know if there’s something that you think would help/would like and if it’s something I can/want to put in, I’ll see what I can do.

Added A Print/PDF Button

Apparently people like to print the reviews off (I’ve never heard of this but ok then) and the new design wasn’t making that work.  If you would like to, the bottom of each review should now have a green button opening up a Printer Friendly/PDF version.  The site’s header is included but you can get rid of it by clicking on it in the preview.

Just out of curiosity to those who do print them off, why do you do so?  I don’t mean that in a mean/condescending way.  I’m just curious about why someone would want to.

Happy Anniversary With A New Look

It’s kind of way overdue.

Ten years ago today, I launched this site and things have been rolling ever since. With that kind of an anniversary, it was time to freshen things up a bit around here and this is the result. Please note that I’m going to be tinkering with it but since I don’t know what I’m doing, it is taking a bit more time. This is NOT the final product and there is a chance that I’ll scrap the whole thing and switch to something I like better. Even if this goes badly, the old design can be pulled up with one button.

Everything under the hood is exactly the same so the reviews will still be coming up as usual. Hopefully there are some adjustments I can make to see what else can be improved but for now, the look does feel a bit less plain. Just like last time, thank you to AB Morales for designing the banner, as he’s quite good at that kind of thing.

Thank you all for being around for any part of the ten years I’ve been doing this (especially you Jay, and I’m not being sarcastic). I’m still not sure what I did to deserve being able to make this my job but it has worked out far better than I ever would have expected when I put this place up. It started out as a place to store the reviews because I was clogging up WrestleZone too much and now, here we are with this being my full time job. It means more than you can imagine and thank you all for it very much.

One other note that might not be so popular: I might be starting to accept paid posts again. I’m not thrilled with having to do so but the pandemic has hurt the ad revenue a lot and I kind of need the extra help to bridge the gap a bit. I only have so much control over the content of the ads but AT MOST there will be one a week, and I would be stunned if it ever approaches that often. I know they’re annoying and I don’t like doing them, but it’s upwards of a third of a week’s worth of income for something that takes five minutes to do. I’m sorry that I have to do them but it’s kind of a necessity for the time being.

With that out of the way, thank you again for everything and I’ll be here as usual for as long as you want me to be, plus a little longer than that.

Pick A Survivor Series For Me To Redo

It’s that time of year again.  Starting on October 20, I will be posting a Survivor Series a day, every day until the 2020 edition.  You all can pick which one I do, in addition to the 2019 edition.  You can pick any but the following, which I have either done recently or done so many times already that it isn’t worth it again.

Anything but the following:

1989

2000

2003

2004

2005
