We’re in a bit of a new era as we have a new NXT Champion in Joe Hendry, who won the title last week in a heck of a seven man ladder match. That leaves us pretty wide open for where things go from here and that should make for some interesting developments. Other than that, we’re on our way to…whatever the next big show is going to be.  Let’s get to it.

Here is Joe Hendry to get things going. He is the new NXT Champion but he wasn’t sure he was going to get here. Last week he was on the floor in pain but he looked up at Ricky Saints and he got up to win the title. Becoming a two time national amateur wrestling champion in England was a step, just like winning the TNA World Title and facing Randy Orton at Wrestlemania. Cue the Vanity Project to interrupt, with Jackson Drake saying he’s ready to run through a wall. Or take the title. The brawl is on with Hendry getting taken down, allowing Drake to do Hendry’s pose and hold up the NXT Title.

Zaria and Sol Ruca are still having tension, with Zaria asking why it can’t be her time. Ruca: “Good talk, I guess.”

Jaida Parker is ready to give a beating. The fire she has in her eyes is great.

Keanu Carver wants the next shot at the NXT Title but Robert Stone says Jackson Drake is getting it, as Shawn Michaels wants chaos. Carver is fine with delivering chaos but Stone tries to stop him. A glare cuts that off really fast.

Blake Monroe vs. Jaida Parker

Parker jumps her to start but Monroe throws part of her gear. That doesn’t get her very far though as Parker is back with a German suplex. A waistlock puts Monroe in trouble and Parker knocks her out to the floor. Monroe manages a trip into the announcers’ table though and we take a break. We come back with Parker blocking a kick to the ribs and elbowing Monroe in the face. The Teardrop connects in the corner and Parker knocks her outside, where they brawl to a double countout at 9:02.

Rating: C. Well that wasn’t much. Parker continues to feel like a star in the making but instead she’s going to a double countout in a so so match with Monroe. At least Parker feels like she has something going for her though, but Monroe is just kind of there. That’s going to need to change, as she’s needing something else to do. Like pairing her with someone perhaps.

Post match the beatdown stays on, with Parker taking out both Monroe and security. Monroe bails into the crowd.

Tatum Paxley talks about how it felt like she was drowning and struggling to breathe around Izzi Dame and the Culling. She tried to become what Dame wanted her to be but had to let go. It let her become what she knew she was and become the version of Tatum Paxley she needs to be.

Kale Dixon yells at Uriah Connors for walking out on Chase U last week. Connors says Chase held them back and here are Stacks, Arianna Grace and Lexis King, who seem to want Connors on their side. Wasn’t he on the team last week?

Speed Title #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Josh Briggs vs. Eli Knight

Knight ducks boot in the corner to start and gets in a high crossbody. An enziguri sends Briggs outside for a running dive but he clotheslines Knight in the back of the head for an early two. Knight knocks him back down and hits a moonsault for the fast pin at 2:06. Well they got the speed part right, but that’s about all they had here.

Elio LeFleur comes out to shake hands with Knight but Jasper Troy comes in to lay them both out.

Lola Vice gets her hand looked at and is ready to face Kelani Jordan next week. Cue Jordan to jump her from behind.

Keanu Carver has wrecked a bunch of people, including Sean Legacy and Andre Chase.

Here is Darkstate for a chat. Dion Lennox wants the NXT Title but Cutler James isn’t sure what Tony D’Angelo was thinking last week. They haven’t forgotten about the Culling either, but here is the Culling on the platform to say they aren’t charging into this kind of a disadvantage. The lights go out and OTM say they’re here for the titles as well. Hank & Tank pop up to say they want the belts too but here is D’Angelo to run through Darkstate.

Post break Robert Stone makes a three way #1 contenders match for next week with OTM, the Culling and Hank & Tank. Stone runs into Shiloh Hill, in a hockey mask for some reason, but Ethan Page comes in to say Hill needs to leave. Hill does that and Page tells Stone that he wants to set the record for the most title defenses. Page says he’s already beaten everyone around here and from TNA but Hill comes back in to get his machete, which gets him a title shot next week.

NXT Title: Joe Hendry vs. Jackson Drake

Only Hendry is defending and Drake (with the Vanity Project) dropkicks him into the corner to start. An early Swanton gives Drake two and a running shooting star press connects, only for Hendry to roll through into a fall away slam. They go outside with Hendry blocking a ram into the apron and then hitting a slam back inside.

Hendry rams him into the corner a few times and gets two off a suplex, with the fans approving. The Project gets caught sending Hendry into the steps though and get ejected as we take a break. We come back with Hendry fighting out of a cravate and grabbing a quick neckbreaker.

Hendry makes his comeback but the Standing Ovation is escaped, meaning Hendry has to settle for two off an Angle Slam instead. A German suplex and the Unaliver (running knee, not even named by commentary) gets two on Hendry but he counters a hurricanrana into a powerbomb. The Standing Ovation retains the title at 11:14.

Rating: C+. This was about getting Hendry’s first title defense out of the way and that’s not a bad thing. What matters the most is establishing him as champion, which kind of hast to be done since he won the title in a ladder match. I’m not wild on a champion losing, but it does help when the Evolve Title is clearly further down the ladder than the NXT Title, so this is far from an upset.

Post match Ricky Saints runs in and lays Hendry out.

Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair fire each other up before their main event.

Darkstate is ready for whomever comes after them next. Cutler James is ready to take out Tony D’Angelo next week.

Hank & Tank vs. Vanity Project

Hank chases after Baylor to start but gets taken into the corner for the tag off to Tank. A Smokes distraction lets Baylor get in a dropkick though and Smokes comes in for a chinlock. That’s broken up in a hurry with Hank working on the arm. Smokes gets sent face first into the buckle but Baylor gets a blind tag so Tank can get stomped in the corner.

We take a break and come back with Tank getting away and diving over for the tag back to Hank. A wheelbarrow Edge-O-Matic (that was cool) drops Smokes but Baylor comes in off the top with an elbow to cut Hank off. Everything breaks down and they all knock each other down but here are OTM and the Culling to brawl for a distraction. Cue Jackson Drake to knock Tank into a rollup to give Baylor the pin at 11:20.

Rating: C+. I’m assuming this will result in the Vanity Project being added to the #1 contenders match (which is fine) but the best thing is that it makes the team look like a bit more of a threat. The idea of the team isn’t that physically imposing but they’re clever. That’s something that has worked for years and it’s probably the best option for the team.

Here’s what’s coming next week.

Sean Legacy wants Keanu Carver in two weeks. Yeah Carver will beat him up, but Carver will know he’s been in a fight.

Robert Stone does indeed put Vanity Project in the #1 contenders match next week (Simple and logical. That’s all I ask for. Well a lot of it at least.). Myles Borne comes in and isn’t happy about not getting the North American Title shot. Stone tells him it’s time for him to do something out of character.

Wren Sinclair/Kendal Grey vs. Sol Ruca/Zaria

Whomever gets the pin gets an NXT Women’s Title shot. Grey rolls Ruca up to start fast so Ruca throws her into the corner for a break. It’s off to Sinclair for a basement dropkick but Ruca flips out of a wristlock. Zaria comes in to take over but shoves Ruca for a tag, only to break up Ruca’s cover. Zaria’s blind tag lets her get back inside, where Grey hits a superkick from the apron.

A double suplex gets Zaria out of trouble and it’s back to Ruca for a Mega Powers elbow. Ruca and Zaria argue with each other though and get dropkicked together for a crash out to the floor. Sinclair and Grey hit a dive apiece and we take a break. We come back with Grey escaping Zaria’s torture rack and both of them being knocked down.

Ruca tags herself back in and missile dropkicks Sinclair, followed by a running knee for two. Zaria makes her own tag back in and has to fight out of a cross armbreaker. Grey superkicks Zaria into Ruca, which counts as a tag but Zaria doesn’t notice. The spear hits Grey and an F5 takes out Sinclair, only for Ruca to come back in with the Sol Snatcher (which didn’t come close, with Grey falling down before the contact) to pin Grey at 12:25.

Rating: B-. That ending really didn’t work as there was no way to hide how far off the Sol Snatcher really landed. At the same time, it’s another issue between Ruca and Zaria, as I try to figure out why they’re still together. It’s one case after another of Zaria getting screwed over (often by herself) and they should have pulled the trigger on their split already. Sinclair and Grey work well together too and hopefully their split is a good time off in the future, as it doesn’t need to happen anytime soon.

Zaria is furious and here is Fatal Influence to yell at Ruca to end the show.

Overall Rating: C+. This show was about trying to take some steps into the future, as we have a lot of new stories that need to come together. It also helped with the idea of giving some of the fresh names something to do. NXT was needing some fresh blood and thankfully their early steps went fairly well. That being said, they still have a long way to go so we’ll have to see where it goes from here.

It’s time for a new champion as we have a lot to cover this week. In addition to the seven way ladder match for the vacant NXT Title, Ava has announced that she is done with NXT, meaning we’re going to need a new boss around here. There aren’t many obvious candidates for the job, though one does tend to stand out. Let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

Shawn Michaels names Robert Stone as the new Interim GM. Yeah that’s the most logical choice.

The opening video looks at the history of the NXT Title and what it can mean for someone’s career, both here and beyond. Tonight, another name is added to the list.

Women’s North American Title: Izzi Dame vs. Thea Hail vs. Lola Vice

Dame is defending and they trade some early rollups for two each. With Dame sent outside, Vice pulls Hail into a triangle choke but Dame is back in for the save. Not that it’s important though, as we see go split screen to see Ricky Saints arriving. Thanks for that one. Anyway, Hail and Vice hit dives to the floor and Hail bites the title to send us to a break.

We come back with Vice getting caught in a middle rope G9 but she pops up to strike away. Hail and Dame get hip attacked in the corner but Hail makes the clothesline comeback. That’s not what matters though, as instead we need to see Joe Hendry warming up. Hail’s springboard backsplash lands in a choke but she’s right back with the Kimura to Vice. That’s broken up and it’s DDT to plant Dame. Cue Kelani Jordan to crush Vice’s hand with a ladder, leaving Dame to get caught in the Kimura. That’s reversed into a sitout gutwrench powerbomb to retain Dame’s title at 11:46.

Rating: C+. They were flying through this as well as they could and it’s nice to see Dame getting another win. At the same time, it’s sad to see Hail’s accidental push erased, as she’s right back to what she was before. The fans were behind her because she won something, so now let’s have her lose all over again. At least Dame is starting to become something a bit better though, as she certainly has potential.

Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair praise Sol Ruca for her Royal Rumble performance, but Zaria interrupts. As usual, they’re having tensions and Zaria says she needs the win tonight, for herself.

Earlier today, Chase U was complaining about not getting opportunities but Arianna Grace, Stacks and Lexis King interrupted to mock them. A match was set up for tonight.

Here is Tony D’Angelo for his big explanation. D’Angelo hasn’t been here for seven months and he could explain the two reasons he left and call it a day, but he has a lot to say. He talks about the things he’s done here, and about a year ago he was a happy man, with his family around him. Then that was taken from him and it meant he needed to learn to stand on his own.

Darkstate ruined his life and now he needs to remember who he is. Then he came back and had people wondering what he was doing. He’s coming for Darkstate and it’s about punishment, because he’s going to take everything from them. The second reason: you’ll find out when he’s done with Darkstate. That’s a nice explanation and at least he has a simple target to start.

Shiloh Hill gives a quick rundown of his competition tonight.

Jasper Troy doesn’t care who he faces next for his Speed Title.

Speed Title #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Elio LeFleur vs. Charlie Dempsey

They hit stereo crossbodies at the same time and LeFleur gets two off a backslide. A suplex swinging neckbreaker gets the same but Dempsey is back with a tabletop suplex for two. Dempsey breaks up a springboard as we have less than a minute to go. LeFleur knocks him down again but gets wheelbarrow suplexed for two more. Back up and LeFleur grabs a weird reverse headscissors driver for the quick pin at 2:52. Cool finisher.

Joe Hendry isn’t going to let bruised ribs stop him from winning the NXT Title. He hasn’t had a title in seven months and it’s time for him to accomplish his goals around here.

We look at the NXT stars, both past and present, in the Royal Rumble.

TNA Knockouts Tag Team Titles: Zaria/Sol Ruca vs. Elegance Brand

The Brand is defending. Zaria decides to start with M but it’s quickly off to Ruca for a standing moonsault. M drives her into the corner though and Heather comes in, only to get suplexed down. Zaria isn’t interested in a Mega Powers elbow (makes sense as this is the anniversary of their split on Main Event II) and gets distracted on the top, allowing the Brand to take over as we take a break.

We come back with Heather slowly hammering on Zaria, who fights up…but won’t tag. That lets M hit a Codebreaker for two as Sean Legacy is putting his vest on. Whoa man. Zaria fights up and this time Ruca tags herself in to clean house as the pace picks up. The fans would rather do the Wave as M misses a moonsault. Zaria tags herself back in and that means it’s time for some shoving with Ruca. A double spear drops the champs but the Sol Snatcher accidentally takes Zaria out. The top rope backsplash onto an elevated Zaria retains the titles at 11:26.

Rating: C+. The match was fine, but this was about Zaria and Ruca arguing again which seems to be what should be the last straw. They’ve teased breaking up so many times now that they need to get on with it already. Maybe that even means that Zaria gets two win a match already, which might be nice for a change.

Ethan Page talks to the Vanity Project, telling Jackson Drake to finish the job.

Before the show, Blake Monroe attacked Jaida Parker in the parking lot in front of the fans.

Chase U vs. Stacks/Lexis King

Connors dropkicks Stacks down to start and it’s off to Dixon for an armbar. Dixon has to flip around to get out of trouble and it’s off to Connors to start the rather quick comeback. King sends Connors into the corner as everything breaks down. Dixon comes back in to clean house but the moonsault hits raised boots. The Coronation gives King the pin at 3:38.

Rating: C-. This wasn’t much to see and that shouldn’t be a surprise. The New Chase U are just completely nothing, which is a shame as Andre Chase was red hot for a bit. In this case now though, there’s nothing to what he’s doing and he’s little more than a person who happens to exist. I don’t see that changing anytime soon, or far off, though and that’s kind of saddening.

Post match Connors walks out on Chase U. Probably a smart move.

Here is Fatal Influence for a chat. Jacy Jayne talks about killing it in the Royal Rumble but then Sol Ruca snuck up on her and eliminated her. Jayne complains about Ruca going viral all the time so it’s her time to kill the hype. Cue Zaria to say Ruca has had all kinds of opportunities handed to her so it’s time for Zaria to make her own chance. Jayne laughs it off, saying everyone loves Ruca but they just tolerate Zaria.

Cue Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair to interrupt, with Grey saying she knows she can beat Grey. They argue over who should get the shot so here is Ruca, who accuses Zaria of sneaking around on her. Zaria gets on her for going to the Rumble on her own. Cue Robert Stone to make Zaria/Ruca vs. Sinclair/Grey next week and whomever gets the pin gets the title shot in three weeks.

Kelani Jordan broke Lola Vice’s hand so she can’t knock anyone else out. There’s a logic to that.

Lexis King and company (now with Uriah Connors) interrupt Charlie Dempsey and seem to offer him a spot on the team. Dempsey doesn’t give an answer.

NXT Title: Ricky Saints vs. Joe Hendry vs. Dion Lennox vs. Jackson Drake vs. Keanu Carver vs. Sean Legacy vs. Shiloh Hill

Ladder match for the vacant title. It’s a brawl to start with Carver getting the better of things until a backdrop sends him onto the ladder. Saints is back in to spear Hendry but Hendry is back up with some ladder shots. Drake is up to go for the title but Hendry cuts that off rather quickly. Hendry’s dive takes out the pile at ringside and we take a break.

We come back with Carver wrecking people on the floor until Legacy hits a dive of his own. Drake and Legacy go up top and fight on the ladder so here is Hill with two pieces of a broken ladder as stilts. Carver breaks that up until Lennox springboards in for a Doomsday Device. Lennox drops Saints onto the ladder but gets his climb cut off. Drake sends Carver outside and then flip dives onto the pile as we take another break.

We come back with Hill cutting off Legacy’s climb and clearing out everyone else. Rather than climbing, he crushes Carver with a ladder on the floor, as do the rest of the competitors, who throw ladders onto Carver. A ladder is bridged into the standing ladder inside and Legacy springboard 450s Drake onto the bridged ladder. Legacy and Lennox go up top but Hill and Drake are back with a ladder of their own.

Hendry makes the save but Carver is up with his own ladder to wreck people, including a Pounce to send Legacy through a wall. Carver goes up but Saints is right there to shove him off, through a ladder bridged at ringside. Back in and Hendry and Saints go up to fight over the title, only for Hendry to knock him off and through another ladder. That’s enough for Hendry to win the title at 22:41.

Rating: B+. There were a lot of people here and quite a bit going on, but they still had a rather entertaining and energetic match. It felt like they were all trying to get the title, with the group beatdown of Carver making sense. Hendry winning is a good way to go, as the fans love him and that’s what NXT could use right now. It’s a case where NXT is going with someone the fans care about and are running with him. Now just find a good challenger and they should be fine.

Hendry celebrates to end the show.

Overall Rating: B. This was a case where you had a lot going on, but the ladder match was the part that mattered the most. It carried the show that much higher, with the secondary story of Ruca and Zaria finally falling apart going the rest of the way. We’re clearly still in a time of transition around here with Hendry as the champion and Robert Stone as the new boss. Hopefully they can make it work, as starting from almost scratch is quite the test. At least they did well with their big show this week.

And then everything changed. The big story of the first show of the year is all of the callups, which have left a bunch of open spots on the NXT roster. Those are likely going to be filled by Evolve stars, meaning things are going to be changing around here. This includes Oba Femi vacating the NXT Title and that is going to have to be addressed. Let’s get to it.

Ava is in the ring with the NXT Title and the roster around the ring. She says there is no better moment than right now but here is Ricky Saints to interrupt. Saints takes credit for running a lot of people around NXT but sees some future champions around the ring. He’s ready to get the championship right now…though that isn’t happening. Instead, it’s going to be a six way ladder match on February 3 for the title. Well happy birthday to me. Qualifying matches start next week and the brawl is on, with Evolve’s Keanu Carver coming in to wreck people, including tossing them around.

Post break Ava is on the phone with someone, who will be here tonight. Someone who looks like Tony D’Angelo walks behind her as Robert Stone says Blake Monroe has something to say tonight.

Kelani Jordan vs. Lola Vice

Jordan dropkicks her off the apron before the bell but gets knocked out of the air back inside. They slug it out on the mat as the bell rings with Jordan rolling her up for two. Vice is back up with knees to the ribs and pulls her into something like a triangle choke, which is broken with a grab of the arm. They head outside with Vice being kicked into the announcers’ table and we take a break.

We come back with Vice winning a strike out but Jordan rolls outside before the hip attack can connect in the corner. Jordan kicks her down and gets two off a frog splash but One Of A Kind is countered into a triangle choke. A spinning Angle Slam drops Vice again and Jordan rolls her up. The referee catches the hand on the ropes (not so much the one on the tights), allowing Vice to hit the spinning backfist for the pin at 11:16.

Rating: C+. These two are suddenly some of the more established names in the division and it felt like a big enough deal to have them facing off. Either one of them winning was fine, though Vice is the one who shouldn’t be losing again. Jordan needs something else to do, even if she’s fitting into the heel role rather well.

Tavion Heights is ready to win the Speed Title, but Jasper Troy disagrees.

Speed Title: Tavion Heights vs. Jasper Troy

Troy is defending and shrugs off Heights’ wrestling attempts to start. Some splashes have Heights rolling outside about a minute in and Troy gets to hammer away back inside. Heights fights out of a seated abdominal stretch and grabs a suplex for two. The comeback has Troy staggered but he grabs a Black Hole Slam for the retaining pin at 4:09.

Rating: C. As usual, there is only so much to see in a Speed Title match, though at least they’re letting Troy get a few wins. He hasn’t been around long enough to reach that level yet so this is what he needs to do. Keeping the matches short is smart too, though it would be nice to not see Heights loose so often.

Post match Lexis King runs in to lay Heights out.

Wren Sinclair and Kendal Grey get in an argument with Sol Ruca and Zaria over who should face Jacy Jayne next. The four of them go into Ava’s office, where Fatal Influence is waiting. Ava has talked to Santino Marella, and an NXT team is getting a Knockouts Tag Team Title shot. Next week, it’s a triple threat #1 contenders match. Arguing ensues.

Lexis King talks to Chase U, who says that was a teachable moment in what not to do. Stacks comes in to praise King, with Chase U leaving.

Myles Borne really wants one of the qualifying matches for the ladder match and Robert Stone will talk to Ava for him.

Ethan Page asks Ava about the NXT Title qualifying match but she says he’s not in one. She’ll change her mind but it would cost him the North American Title. Page brags about his success, with Ava agreeing….before saying he’s defending against Elio LeFleur next week.

Here is Blake Monroe for a chat. Last week, she was ready to get the Women’s North American Title back but instead, she attacked Thea Hail. Everything was changed like she was the problem, but the reality is that someone as talented as she is always gets the narrative changed.

No one compares to her and everything she does has everyone in a frenzy. There are all kinds of stars…and Jaida Parker is back to interrupt. The fans go absolutely nuts for her and the brawl is on in a hurry. Parker sends her into the corner, high steps a bit, and Hipnotiques her to the floor. Parker continues to have all of the potential imaginable.

Shiloh Hill talks about bringing a bunch of flying squirrels into his house. Oh and he wants the TNA International Title.

Video on Darkstate, who brag about their dominance and insist that no one is safe. Does that include Darkstate? Would they beat themselves up? They might want to clarify that.

TNA International Title: Stacks vs. Shiloh Hill

Stacks, with Arianna Grace, is defending. Hill jumps him to start but gets sent into the corner but Stacks fights back. Stacks misses a charge into the corner and the armbar goes on. An elbow sends Stacks outside, where Grace saves him from being sent into the barricade. Hill hits the flipping dive off the apron and we take a break.

We come back with Stacks running him over for two more but Hill pulls him into a tilt-a-whirl for a double down. Hill takes the tooth out and it’s time to start the real comeback. A release butterfly slam gives Hill two more but Stacks is back with a fireman’s carry gutbuster for the same. Hill is back up and goes outside to put his arm around Grace ala Shawn Michaels. Back in and Hill grabs a small package but Grace kicks it over to give Stacks the pin at 10:36.

Rating: B-. I wasn’t expecting much coming into this but it worked rather well. It was nice to see Stacks getting to do something, though I’m not wild on what he does in the ring. At the same time, having another midcard title around here doesn’t do much good and hopefully it winds up back in TNA sooner than later.

Here is Izzi Dame, with the Culling, for a chat. She welcomes us to the new reality of the division but she won’t give us the same tired story about stumbling into success. This was all calculation and outsmarting everyone else. What did you think she was going to do with that loss last week?

The Culling has always been about getting rid of the worst and that is what she did. We hear about some people coming for the title but Dame isn’t interested in any of them. If you come for the title, you’re walking into a trap…and here is Tatum Paxley for the brawl, with Dame running.

Ricky Saints has cooled off and is already in the ladder match and doesn’t even have to win a qualifying match. He mentions Shiloh Hill getting a qualifying match, which doesn’t sit well with Stacks. Lexis King comes up to Stacks and says they should talk.

Tatum Paxley has been ejected from the building.

The Vanity Project is officially part of the NXT roster and they’re ready to win.

Keanu Carver doesn’t want to talk.

Joe Hendry vs. Dion Lennox

Anything goes and OTM/Darkstate are here too. They fight over a lockup to start with Hendry getting the better of things and sending Lennox outside. Lennox fights back and gets two off a backbreaker, meaning he can go up. Hendry is right there with a superplex to bring him back down and we take a break.

We come back with Hendry fighting out of a chinlock but getting sent into the corner a few times. Saquon Shugars puts a chair in the corner so of course Lennox goes into it instead. OTM throws Hendry some brass knuckles for a right hand and a near fall so Darkstate throws in a kendo stick. Lennox beats on Hendry, who gets the stick for a beating of his own. The Standing Ovation gets two, with Darkstate making the save.

OTM and the rest of Darkstate get into it and they all brawl to the back. That means a table can be set up in the corner, while Lennox spinebusters Hendry onto a chair. Hendry shrugs it off and hits a Standing Ovation for two of his own. A spear sends Hendry through the table in the corner…and Tony D’Angelo cuts off Lennox’s chair shot. D’Angelo lays out Lennox and then does the same to Hendry, though he lays Hendry on top for the win at 13:20.

Rating: B-. Well, it certainly wasn’t boring and I’m curious about what they’re going to do with D’Angelo. Granted I’m also scared that they’re going to screw him up, but I’ll take the interest over nothing. Lennox still doesn’t quite feel like a main event star, but at least he’s getting some time in prominent spots.

Post match Ava sends security in so D’Angelo beats them up to end the show.

Overall Rating: C+. It’s an understatement to say that we’re in a transitional period around here and that is going to be the case for a good while. With so many people moving here and there, you’re going to see a lot of changes taking place. That’s going to make things tricky, but it’s the kind of thing that has to happen in a place designed to help people get out of here. I’m curious to see what happens, though more than a bit worried about there it might be going.

We’re taped for one of the last shows of the year but things are picking up around here. There are a few big matches coming up, as New Year’s Evil is just a few weeks away. Hopefully we get a solid build up this week, as we have a good bit of build left to go before the show. Let’s get to it.

Lola Vice vs. Izzi Dame

Shawn Spears is here with Dame. Vice (described by Booker as a “spicy meatball”) strikes her up against the ropes to start and pulls Dame into a triangle choke. That’s enough to send Dame outside for a running seated senton off the apron. Back in and Dame grabs a slam but Vice jumps on her back for a choke. Dame sends him flying with a suplex and we take a break. We come back with Vice striking away and hitting the running hip attack in the corner. Spears trips Vice…and none of that matters as here is Tatum Paxley with a chainsaw. The distraction (chainsaw variety) lets Vice hit a spinning backfist for the pin at 9:57.

Rating: C+. Vice was basically squashing her here and it was a bit of a surprise, but the only thing that matters here is the chainsaw at the end. Paxley is making it clear that she’s not done with Dame and is going to go to the extreme to get revenge. That’s an interesting way for Paxley and it should lead to a big blowoff match sooner than later.

Post match Kelani Jordan runs in and beats Vice down.

Thea Hail thanks Jordynne Grace for having her back last week.

Ethan Page comes up to mock Myles Borne for not making the right changes to fix his career. Borne needs to think about his future, because if he can survive here, Monday and Friday are easy. Watch his title defense next week.

Here is Thea Hail for a chat. She looks like she’s about to cry as she talks about how she never knew it would feel this good. The people here have watched her grow up and now she is here. She talks about the lessons that Andre Chase taught her and everything she has lost and now she is the youngest Women’s North American Champion in history. Now she finally feels like a grown a** woman…and here is Blake Monroe to interrupt. Monroe calls last week a mistake that she has to deal with, though Hail doesn’t want to hear it. If Monroe wants a rematch, it’s on for New Year’s Evil.

Sol Ruca is ready to get back on the waves and win the Women’s US Title tonight. Zaria promises to have her back.

Speed Title #1 Contender Tournament First Round: Eli Knight vs. Tavion Heights

Knight knocks him to the floor to start and hits a big frog splash back inside. Heights powers his way up but it’s a dropkick to put him back down. A split legged moonsault gets two but a regular moonsault misses. Height belly to bellys him for the pin at 2:01.

Blake Monroe runs into Jackson Drake, who introduces her to Swipe Right. They have presents for her because she should still be Women’s North American Champion. Ricky Smokes suggests Monroe might lose so she sends them off. Leave the gifts.

Leon Slater and Oba Femi have a sitdown interview in the back. Femi talks about being the ruler of NXT but he wants it known that he’s the ruler of WWE. In two weeks, Slater is going to feel the shift that is taking place. Slater talks about how wrestling has turned him into a different person because it filled a void in his life. He’s not going to trash talk because his actions speak for him, and we’ll see who speaks louder. We get a tense yet respectful handshake.

Ava is in the ring with security to bring out Je’Von Evans and Ricky Saints for a chat. Evans isn’t happy with him but Saints says Evans doesn’t have the emotional control to lead a brand. Evans accuses Saints of not being the man he thinks he is, though Saints says that Evans can’t string two sentences together. That makes Evans laugh, because he can do well enough for John Cena to put him on his last show and for him to be on Raw and Smackdown. Meanwhile, there’s Saints who…isn’t mentioned. Violence is teased but it doesn’t happen thanks to security not being terrible for a change.

Fatal Influence comes up to Kendal Grey and Wren Sinclair for some general insults. The result is Jacy Jayne vs. Sinclair next week.

Skylar Ray/Shiloh Hill vs. Arianna Grace/Stacks

Christmas Chaos, meaning themed street fight. Stacks and Grace share a kiss underneath some mistletoe to start and the fight starts outside. They get inside for an atomic drop to Stacks, who almost falls on Grace. Hill throws Ray onto the two of them outside and it’s time to fight over the Singapore candy cane. Said fight continues even when the women are on the men’s shoulders until Grace and Stacks get tied in the Tree Of Woe. Cane shots bring them back down and we take a break.

We come back with Stacks whipping out a bowling ball, which he hands to Grace, who swings it back….and hits him low. Then drops it on his foot, drawing a YOU DESERVE IT chant. Ray hits a missile dropkick and it’s time to throw cookies to the fans. A table is loaded up and Hill covers it with pine cones of all things. Ray’s frog splash finishes Grace at 11:37.

Rating: C+. This is the definition of harmless fun, as an annoying team loses to some newcomers in a themed holiday fight. It was all in good fun and they gave the new stars a chance at the same time. It’s not like Grace and Stacks are going to fall through the floor as a result so this was a nice use of time.

Darkstate meets Joe Hendry, but violence doesn’t ensue. Instead, Hendry is willing to give a concert next week. Ava agrees.

OTM is looking forward to a better 2026 but the Vanity Project interrupts, now offering their gifts to Kelly Kincaid. OTM doesn’t approve and a match seems likely.

Speed Title #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Andre Chase vs. Lexis King

Chase, wearing a face shield after a nasal injury, fires off some running forearms to start, followed by a neckbreaker to send King outside. Back in and King superkicks him for two and a running forearm gets the same. The Russian legsweep into a Black Widow has King in trouble but he gets out and hits Chase in his bad nose. The Coronation finishes for King at 2:47.

Kelani Jordan yells at the locker room again.

Tavion Heights and Myles Borne agree that something has to change but Hank & Tank come in to give them a pep talk.

Women’s US Title: Sol Ruca vs. Chelsea Green

Ruca, with Zaria, is challenging and Alba Fyre/Ethan Page are here with Green. An early drop toehold takes Green down to start and Ruca grabs a front facelock. A spinning belly to back faceplant sets up the surfboard, followed by a faceplant. Fyre tries to help Green and the distraction lets Green get in a cheap shot. Ruca knocks her outside anyway and hits a good looking moonsault for the big knockdown.

We take a break and come back with Green holding a full nelson with her legs until Ruca stacks her up for two. Ruca is back up with a German suplex, setting up a running knee for two. Green’s Rough Ryder gets two and another German suplex sends Ruca flying. She’s right back up with the cartwheel DDT but Page puts Green’s foot on the rope. Cue Moose to brawl to the back with Page, leaving Fyre to break up the Sol Snatcher. The Un-Pretty-Her retains the title at 10:33.

Rating: C. I wasn’t digging this one as much as I expected to, as they seemed to be having too many things going on at once. You had multiple people interfering and while green should need help to win a match like this, there was too much going on. I’m also not wild on Ruca taking another loss, though at least it was to a main roster star.

Post match Zaria hits a double spear, setting up a double Sol Snatcher to leave the villains laying.

We run down next week’s show to end the night.

Overall Rating: C. Much like this week’s Raw, this wasn’t their best effort, as it felt more like a show that was just there to set things up for the bigger shows. That’s not a bad thing either, as we’re in the middle of the holiday season and there are probably going to be people doing other things. Setting it up to start off the new year in a big way makes sense, but it doesn’t make for the most thrilling show. This wasn’t bad, but it’s definitely a skippable week.

We’re in a bit of an interesting place with NXT, as there isn’t a pay per view anytime soon but we are fresh off of Saturday Night’s Main Event, which had a big NXT presence. That should be something to build on for at least tonight if not the upcoming few weeks as we close out the year. That’s in addition to the annual End Of The Year Awards, which get some people rather emotional around here. Let’s get to it.

We open with a long recap of the NXT involvement with Saturday Night’s Main Event, as well as what seemed to be Ricky Saints going evil last week to cost Je’Von Evans the NXT Title.

Women’s North American Title: Blake Monroe vs. Thea Hail

Monroe is defending. Hail goes right to the armbar to start but gets taken down with a rather spinning side slam. Back up and Hail kicks her down for a standing moonsault, followed by a running dropkick to send Monroe outside. An exploder suplex has Monroe in more trouble but she armbars Hail over the ropes as we take a break. We come back with Hail hitting a World’s Strongest Slam and the springboard backsplash…for the pin and the title at 7:24? If that was planned, they’re better actresses than I thought.

Rating: C. The match barely had enough time to get anywhere but it seems like the ending didn’t exactly go as it was supposed to. There’s a chance that we got some really screwy booking to change the title, but it feels a lot more like Monroe didn’t/couldn’t kick out in time. Either way, Hail absolutely needed to win something at some point and this checks that box, even if it might not have been supposed to.

Everyone seems REALLY confused as Hail is awarded the title. It looks like Monroe was trying to get her shoulder up but couldn’t, as that definitely seemed like a mistake.

The Culling seems happy with what they’ve done to Tatum Paxley….but Niko Vance seems to be having second thoughts.

Here is Ethan Page for a chat. Page complains about being attacked by Tony D’Angelo and claiming that he can carry an industry on his back. He doesn’t care why D’Angelo attacked him, but D’Angelo needs to get out here right now. Cue Stacks and Arianna Grace, with Stacks saying grace wants some more gold. Like the AAA Mixed Tag Team Titles.

Cue TNA’s Moose of all people and he gets straight to the point: TNA is ticked off and wants something done about Stacks. Therefore it’s Stacks’ lucky day, because Moose wants Page and the North American Title. The match is already set for December 30 and Moose clotheslines him the floor.

Leon Slater wants Je’Von Evans at ringside for his #1 contenders match tonight but Evans is focused on Ricky Saints. Evans eventually agrees.

OTM vs. Hank & Tank

Nima shoves Tank into the corner to start and it’s off to Price, who kicks Tank down. A running stomp gets two but Tank gets over for the tag off to Hank…as an SUV arrives in the back. Nima gets sent into the corner though and some running splashes have Price in trouble. OTM is right back with a double powerbomb and we take a break.

We come back with Tank and Nima trading big shots to the face. Tank’s seated armbar is broken up and a double torture rack slam drops him for two. Tank manages to avoid being sent through the announcers’ table and Swantons Price but Nima is back in for a save. Hank is back in as well and a small package gives him the fast pin at 13:48.

Rating: C+. Well, at least it wasn’t Hank & Tank being Japanese stereotypes like I was worried it might be. The team still doesn’t do much for me but the fans seem to like them and there are worse options. Granted I could still go for OTM getting a push for a change but that’s not going to happen at the moment.

Jasper Troy is fine with Ava’s announcement of another Speed tournament.

Here is Ricky Saints for a chat. Saints isn’t here to apologize, because he promised to usher in the Absolute Era. He could carry any brand but he wasn’t happy with Je’Von Evans jumping the line to get a title shot. That’s why he had to cut Evans off, because he is tired of being stepped on. Saints told Evans to wait for his turn and now we’re supposed to believe that Evans is better than him? Cue Evans for the brawl but Saints sends him into the steps. Saints lays him out with the Roshambo through the announcers’ table.

Ethan Page complains to Ava about everything going on right now and Chelsea Green comes in to complain as well. Ava says nothing that happened to Green is her fault and gives her a Women’s US Title defense against Sol Ruca (also there, along with Zaria).

Fatal Influence vs. Kendal Grey/Wren Sinclair

Jacy Jayne is on commentary. Grey gets sent into the corner to start as Jayne impersonates Booker’s commentary. Sinclair fights back and it’s back to Grey for a front facelock to slow Reid down. It’s back to Sinclair for a butterfly suplex but she goes outside to yell at Jayne. That earns her a quick posting and we take an early break.

We come back with Reid grabbing a Stunner for two on Sinclair but she kicks Reid away. The needed tag brings in Grey to clean house but Shades Of Grey is broken up. Reid’s Blockbuster into a running faceplant from Henley gets two but everything breaks down. Grey gets a cross armbreaker but Jayne gets up for a distraction, earning herself a right hand. Sinclair hits a dive to take the villains out and the cross armbreaker makes Henley tap at 9:36.

Rating: C+. Grey is still establishing herself but it’s pretty clear that she’s going to be a big deal if she can live up to even some of her potential. Having her make Henley tap out is a nice moment and now we get to see if Grey can pull off a miracle win. Other than that, Sinclair getting to be on the winning side is nice to see as well, though that might not last very long.

Thea Hail is very, very excited about her win and says it’s going to say THEA HAIL very soon. Jordynne Grace comes in to congratulate Hail but Blake Monroe comes in to say she kicked out and wants her rematch. Grace doesn’t like the disrespect but Hail is rather excited anyway (shocking I know).

Izzi Dame finds a doll in her locker and knows it’s from Tatum Paxley. Lola Vice tells her to watch out but gets annoyed at Kelani Jordan moving back into the locker room. Vice warns Jordan that gymnastics is nothing like MMA.

Shiloh Hill meets Skylar Raye but Stacks and Arianna Grace come in to complain about earlier. They argue and a mixed tag is set for next week.

Here’s what’s coming next week.

Leon Slater vs. Myles Borne vs. Joe Hendry vs. Dion Lennox

For the NXT Title shot at New Year’s Evil and Slater’s TNA X-Division Title isn’t on the line. Lennox takes Slater down for an early two before uppercutting Borne in the corner. A powerslam out of said corner gives Borne two but Hendry is back up with a double clothesline. Hendry’s DDT gets two on Slater, who is back up to send Hendry outside for a running flip dive.

A high crossbody gives Slater two on Lennox and Slater rains down some right hands in the corner. Another high crossbody gives Slater another two but he misses a dive to the floor and hurts his knee. Borne is back in with a dropkick to Lennox before Slater is back in, where he’s caught in a powerbomb/top rope clothesline combination. Everyone is down for a breather and we take a break.

We come back with Slater’s leg still banged up but he manages a kick to Borne anyway. Lennox catches Slater on top but Borne breaks it up, leaving Slater to get the best part of a Tower Of Doom for two each. Hendry is back up but can’t hit the Standing Ovation. Slater’s knee is banged up so he somehow manages a one legged Swanton to Lennox. Hendry makes the save and fall away slams Borne and does the same send Lennox flying. Slater is tossed over the top onto Lennox before Hendry plants Borne for two. Hendry and Lennox brawl to the floor, leaving Slater to hit the Swanton 450 to pin Borne at 16:27.

Rating: B. Slater winning (despite his knee injury suddenly being fine at the end) is an interesting choice as he and Oba Femi could have a heck of a fun match. Hendry is another interesting situation, as not only is it odd to have him in developmental, but also that he’s just kind of floating around ala Jordynne Grace. Borne needs something else to do and Lennox is still trying to find himself as a singles star. I’m just not sure if Lennox can find that kind of spot.

Oba Femi comes out for the staredown with Slater to end the show.

Overall Rating: B-. This was one of the shows designed to set up things for later, though it seemed to include a non-planned title change. I’m not sure if that’s what was supposed to happen (if so, well done), but it seems like they’re following up on what they have. I liked what we got here well enough and the next few weeks are starting to come together. Granted I’m not wild on even more TNA/NXT invasions, at least it gives us some fresh matches, which does make for something fun.

Deadline has come and gone and we have #1 contenders to both top titles. In one case though, there is a new champion though as Oba Femi beat Ricky Saints to regain the NXT Title. That means he is set to face the new Iron Survivor Je’Von Evans, while Kendal Grey is set to challenge Jacy Jayne for the women’s side. Let’s get to it.

Here is Oba Femi to get things going. Femi talks about how this title is power. Ricky Saints took the title off of him at No Mercy and knocked the Ruler off his throne, but now things are back as they should be. When you look at him you will see power and the Ruler…and here is Saints to interrupt. Saints is able to admit that Femi was the better man at Deadline, but he’s not about to just bow down.

Now Saints is betting on himself and undoing all the mistakes. They’re 1-1 and now Saints wants one more match for the title. Cue Je’Von Evans, who reminds us that he won the Iron Survivor Challenge. He’s locked in right now, so how about we do the NXT Title match tonight? Saints tries to talk him out of it but Evans wants to do it tonight. Femi isn’t about to back down and the match is set. This feels like a way out of Cody Rhodes vs. Femi at Saturday Night’s Main Event. Or Saints is turning on Evans.

We recap Kelani Jordan’s fall to the evil side.

Tatum Paxley is ready to take care of the Culling until it’s just her and Izzi Dame.

Kelani Jordan vs. Jordynne Grace

Grace slams her down to start but it’s too early for a Vader Bomb. Jordan kicks the knee out and starts dropping some elbows onto it to make things worse. Back up and they fight to the apron, where Grace blocks what looks like a Spanish Fly. Jordan goes back to the knee and we take a break.

We come back with Grace suplexing her down but getting dropped with a chop block. They head back inside with Jordan going after the leg again, only to get caught in a rolling Chaos Theory. Jordan rolls outside and grabs a chair, only to have them fight over a Tombstone. With that not working, Jordan is sent into the steps, followed by a Vader Bomb. Grace grabs the chair but the referee takes it away, allowing Jordan to kick her through the barricade. Back in and a 450 gives Jordan the pin at 11:23.

Rating: B-. The stuff with the chair was a bit weird and the knee injury didn’t matter much in the end. The good thing is that Jordan continues her rise up the ranks, though I’m not sure what Grace is going to be able to do. At some point she has to win something and that’s been an issue for a long time now.

Post break, Grace complains to the women’s locker room but Thea Hail gives her a pep talk. It doesn’t go so well, but she does try.

Here is Blake Monroe for an open challenge.

Blake Monroe vs. ???

Non-title. A bunch of the locker room tries to come in but Thea Hail sneaks in from behind and Kimuras Monroe for the tap. Granted the match never started but she did make Monroe tap.

Shiloh Hill gives a scientific explanation for being nervous for his first match. He does however remember to put in his teeth.

Shiloh Hill vs. Lexis King

King tries to jump him to start but gets knocked outside and into various things before the bell. They get inside to officially start things off but King fights out of trouble in the corner. Some boot choking has Hill down but he’s up with a double clothesline. Hill takes out his fake tooth and hits a hard shoulder, followed by a belly to back neckbreaker for the pin at 2:57. I’ve liked Hill thus far and he wasn’t bad here, albeit in a small dose.

Oba Femi is ready for Je’Von Evans tonight and Cody Rhodes on Saturday.

Here is Ethan Page for a chat. Page talks about how he’s been winning over and over because he made sure to learn as much as he could. Now we’re going to watch John Cena walk away this weekend and someone is going to have to take his place. Page won the NXT Title in recent time and now he’s making the North American Title that much important. He’s the biggest superstar around…but the lights go out and Tony D’Angelo (who returned at Deadline) is back to lay him out with a spinebuster. That might be the end of Page’s rather impressive reign.

Ava has Dion Lennox, Myles Borne, Leon Slater and Joe Hendry in her office. They all tied at Deadline, so they’re in a four way for the #1 contendership to the NXT Title at New Year’s Evil. Ethan Page storms in to complain about everything and gets mocked by Borne.

Wren Sinclair vs. Sol Ruca

Kendal Grey is here with Sinclair. They hit the ropes a few times to start fast with Ruca getting two off a rollup. They trade rollups for two more each until Sinclair takes her down and starts working on the leg. Ruca is back up with some running elbows and a missile dropkick. A butterfly suplex drops Ruca, who knocks Sinclair into the corner. That means the Sol Snatcher can finish Sinclair off at 3:33.

Rating: C+. They didn’t have time to do much here but anything involving the Sol Snatcher is going to work. It just looks cool and has become Ruca’s signature spot, which has helped turn her into a star. If she isn’t brought up to the main roster sooner or later, she’ll be around the NXT Title. Or getting speared by Zaria.

Post match Zaria comes out to glare and Ruca leaves through the crowd to get to her.

Post break Grey and Sinclair are still in the ring with Fatal Influence joining them. Jacy Jayne says Grey has done well but this is as good as it’s going to get. Grey’s stock is doing well but her reality is going to slap her in the face at New Year’s Evil. Then these people will move on to the next new flavor of the month. Yeah she’s won the Evolve Women’s Title but the NXT Title is on another level.

Jayne brags about herself but Grey says she’s the one with the momentum now. No one is expecting Grey to win, just like no one was expecting Jayne to win the title in the first place. The best part of being the underdog is seeing people’s faces when the underdog bites back. Sinclair suggests she’s coming after the Women’s Speed Title and the big brawl is on, with Fatal Influence standing tall.

Hank & Tank have gone to Pro Wrestling Noah and won their GHC Tag Team Titles. Granted they lost them less than two weeks later, but it’s better than nothing.

Hank & Tank are back, now in Japanese robes. OTM comes in and a match is set for next week.

Blake Monroe complains to Ava about the attack by Thea Hail. Ava gives Hail a title match next week.

Sol Ruca and Zaria make peace because friends fight.

We look at Stacks becoming the TNA International Champion at Friday’s Final Resolution.

NXT Title: Je’Von Evans vs. Oba Femi

Femi is defending and powers Evans around to start. Evans’ running knee gets two and Femi is a bit rocked early on. Femi misses a boot in the corner and gets taken down by a running kick to the face. A big backbreaker gets Femi out of trouble and we hit the chinlock. Back up and Femi is sent outside, where he counters an Asai moonsault into a drop onto the apron.

Femi drops him face first onto the apron again and we take a break. We come back with Evans grabbing a hurricanrana out to the floor, followed by another on the floor. Femi Pounces Evans onto the announcers’ table (Booker takes a nice bump getting away) but Evans beats the count back in.

Evans is actually up with a frog splash to the back and another to the chest gets two. Femi is sent outside again for the big dive, followed by a German suplex for two back inside. A big elbow to the face gives Femi two more but the Fall From Grace is countered into a cutter. There’s the top rope cutter…but Ricky Saints pulls the referee. Evans takes him out and goes back inside, where he gets elbowed in the face a few times. The Fall From Grace retains the title at 13:47.

Rating: B+. These two work well together as Evans is an incredible athlete who has the size to make for an interesting challenger to Femi. They had me wondering if the title was going to change here, which granted might have something to do with the Cody Rhodes match coming up on Saturday. That aside, this was a heck of a match as Evans had the crowd wanting to see him win the big one, which is going to happen one day to a massive reaction.

Overall Rating: B. They pulled off a nice balancing act here with the fallout from Deadline, setting up New Year’s Evil and doing something this week too. That’s a heck of a thing to do and they managed to make it work in the end, with an awesome main event on top of it. I’m digging what NXT is presenting and hopefully they can keep that up, as it can make for some rather good stuff.

It’s NXT’s turn to have a show based on timed intervals as we have the Iron Survivor Challenges. These things can seem a bit complicated at first but once you get into the swing of them, they can be an absolute blast. Other than that, the NXT Title is on the line so let’s get to it.

Since it’s going to come up twice tonight, here are the Iron Survivor Challenge rules:

• 25 minute time limit
• Two wrestlers start with a new entrant every five minutes
• Any pinfall, submission or DQ is a fall and worth one point
• When someone loses a fall, they go to the penalty box for 90 seconds
• Most falls in 25 minutes wins a future NXT/Women’s Title shot

The opening video focuses on time, both with the Iron Survivor Challenges and with title reigns ending. The Iron Survivor Challenges actually aren’t treated as the only things that matter for a change.

NXT Title: Oba Femi vs. Ricky Saints

Saints is defending and starts in on the arm. The armbar is reversed into one from Femi, who powers Saints down. What looks like an F5 is blocked and Saints Codebreakers the arm. Saints knocks him away and gets two off a middle rope dropkick. Back up and Femi shoves him into the corner for a forearm and a Damian Priest Broken Arrow for two. Femi unloads with some more forearms and hard shots to the head.

Saints tells him to bring it so Femi hits him in the head again. Saints is back with some running kicks to the head and a top rope hurricanrana takes him down. The spear gives Saints two and a Stunner connects for the same. A guillotine choke has Femi in trouble but he powers Saints up onto the top rope. Femi misses a charge out to the floor though and Saints knocks him down again, only for Femi to beat the count.

A Fameasser gives Saints two but Femi starts hitting him in the face. What looked like a Big Ending is countered into a crucifix to give Saints two. A missed charge sends Femi into the post and another charge sends him into the steps. Saints’ tornado DDT off the barricade drops Femi onto the steps again. Another tornado DDT gives Saints two back inside, as does Femi’s Fall From Grace. Saints charges right into a sitout Fall From Grace to give Femi the pin and the title back at 17:22.

Rating: B. This is what it should have been, as Saints went at Femi with everything he had but ultimately couldn’t handle the monster. Femi is someone who feels like he is the biggest and most dominant star in a good while around here and him winning the title back is a logical move. I’m just not sure who is supposed to take the thing from him.

Post match, respect is shown.

Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge

For the Women’s Title shot at New Year’s Evil. Kelani Jordan is in at #1 and Kendal Grey is in at #2. Jordan takes her to the mat to start but Grey is back up to knock Jordan into the corner. Grey grabs a front facelock and they trade small packages for two each. Jordan’s northern lights suplex gets two and they trade running faceplants to leave them both down. Jordan knocks her down in the corner and hits a handspring spinning Fameasser. Grey snaps off a powerslam for the pin at 4:57.

Jordynne Grace is in at #3 and immediately takes Grey down for a Vader Bomb. Grace sits her down and cranks on both arms, only for Jordan to escape and make the save. Grey and Jordan trade rollups for two each until Jordan gets a fall at 7:17.

Grace is back in to run Jordan over and things slow back down a bit. Jordan is knocked down into the corner and Grace is smart enough to run Grey over as she gets out of the box. A slingshot dive drops Grace and it’s Lola Vice in at #4. Vice wastes no time in striking away, including the spinning backfist to pin Grey at 10:25.

Vice sticks up with the striking and sends Jordan and grace into the same corner for the rather enthusiastic running hip attack. Neither of them are good enough for a fall but Grey is out for a cutter and the pin on Grace at 12:27.

Grey belly to back superplexes Jordan into a running knee from Vice. A superkick on the apron rocks Jordan again but Vice can’t lock up Grey’s ankle. Grey can’t get the cross armbreaker either as Grace kicks the penalty box door into Jordan’s face. Back in and Grace package powerbombs Grey for two. Jordan’s high crossbody is rolled through though and Grace gets the pin at 14:58.

Sol Ruca is in to complete the field but Jordan takes her out on the way to the ring. Ruca has to be taken out and it’s Grace loading up a Five Knuckle Shuffle. The free Jordan breaks that up and stomps on Grey as Ruca is in with a double Sol Snatcher to pin Jordan at 18:24.

Vice goes after Grey on the floor but Ruca moonsaults onto both of them. Jordan Asai moonsaults onto Ruca and then throw Vice back inside. Something like an Angle Slam drops Vice but Grace is back in to plant both of them. A spinning torture rack bomb finishes Jordan at 22:55.

Vice chokes Ruca on the floor so Ruca drops back onto her as we have a minute left. A Sol Snatcher off the steps drops Vice on the floor as Jordan is out of the box. Jordan kicks Ruca’s bad knee out and hits a 450 on Vice with Grace making the save. Grey is in with a top rope Shades Of Grey to Vice as time expires at 25:00.

Rating: B. These things work so well and they have the whole thing figured out rather well. This was all about the drama and trying to keep track of everything at once and they managed to pull it off. Grey winning is one heck of a moment for her, as it seems they’re ready to run with her. If she’s ready, it’s certainly worth a shot as she checks a lot of boxes at once.

Blake Monroe is going to issue an open challenge for the Women’s North American Title on Tuesday. Ava thinks this is a bad idea but approves it anyway.

Myles Borne is ready for Oba Femi again and has decided he’s entering the Iron Survivor Challenge third. A brawl between Kelani Jordan and Jordynne Grace cuts him off.

North American Title: Mr. Iguana vs. Ethan Page

Page is defending and shoulders him down to start, leaving Iguana to do his dead pose. Page spins him around and accuses Iguana of being dead, earning himself an armdrag. Iguana rolls him up for two and grabs the stuffed iguana, earning himself a DDT. A high crossbody gives Iguana two and they head outside, with Iguana hitting a dive. Page sends him into the steps though and they head back inside, with Page getting a bunch of green paint on his chest.

The stuffed iguana bites Page’s fingers but he pulls a rope walk out of the air into a powerslam. Page spits on the stuffed iguana and throws it to the floor, which has Iguana rather angry. Iguana gets crotched on top but a super Ego’s Edge is countered into a hurricanrana. Iguana’s diving hurricanrana over the top takes Page down on the floor and a flying headbutt gets two back inside. Page is able to slam him off the top though and grabs the Twisted Grin to retain the title at 8:40.

Rating: B-. This got rolling in the middle and the fans were into what Iguana was doing. At the same time though, it was hard to imagine a glorified comedy wrestler being the one to end Page’s rather impressive title reign. Page is a good choice for a heel and he could move up the card in a hurry once he loses the title, whenever that finally happens.

Kendal Grey can’t believe she won but Sol Ruca comes in to say she would have won if she wasn’t hurt. Wren Sinclair says that sounds like an excuse, as Grey got speared out of her boots by Zaria on Wednesday but won anyway. Ruca says she and Zaria are still friends.

Oba Femi and Dion Lennox have a staredown, with Femi hoping Lennox wins so they can fight again.

We recap Tatum Paxley vs. Izzi Dame. Paxley needed a friend and Dame tried to do so, but then Paxley wouldn’t listen to her. Dame cost her the Women’s Title and now it’s time for revenge.

Tatum Paxley vs. Izzi Dame

Paxley is all shaken up and doesn’t want to do this. Dame puts her hand on Paxley’s cheek but Paxley gets angry and the fight is on. Paxley knocks her outside and we get a hug but Dame sends her knees first into the steps. A fireman’s carry faceplant drops Paxley back inside and Dame slowly hammers away.

Paxley’s sleeper has Dame in trouble but she rams Paxley into the corner for the break. The Boston crab goes on and Dame turns it into a Liontamer but Paxley slips out. A rebound German suplex puts Dame down and Paxley’s elbow drop gets two. Dame is able to dropkick her out of the air and a fisherman’s neckbreaker connects for two more.

They fight to the floor with Paxley grabbing a German suplex and loading up the announcers’ table. The Psycho Trap sends Dame into the table….but Shawn Spears pops up with the dolls. She takes them from him and Spears ribs the head off of one of them. That earns Spears a slap to the face but Paxley charges back inside, where it’s a big boot to her face. The chokebomb gives Dame the pin at 12:40.

Rating: B-. This was more about the emotions and the storytelling than anything else, as Paxley is going to find a friend sooner or later. That should make for an interesting twist in everything, though it’s hard to say who that will be. Other than that, Paxley is definitely feeling like more of a star than she was coming into this, so that’s a success.

Ricky Saints is upset by his loss but Je’Von Evans tries to give him a pep talk.

Shiloh Hill is back with his final chat before….I have no idea actually. One time he watched squirrels playing and wanted to know what it would be like to communicate with them. Then he chased one of them and finally caught it, but the high school football coach saw him and asked him to play. Then he tells a story about getting in a fight when he was a kid and losing a tooth. Then we see that he’s talking to a machine, which says it’s time for everyone to wake up. Apparently he’ll have his first match on Tuesday. Ok then.

Men’s Iron Survivor Challenge

For the title shot at New Year’s Evil. Leon Slater is in at #1 and Je’Von Evans is in at #2. Evans’ springboard cutter is blocked early on and they circle each other for a bit. They both catch kicks to the ribs and then put their feet down, only for Evans to hold on a bit longer. Slater kicks him in the face but Evans is back with a springboard hurricanrana. Evans gets in a kick to the face before they trade rollups for two each. Another springboard cutter misses so Evans settles for a jumping Stunner. Slater breaks up another springboard but charges into a hurricanrana to give Evans the pin at 4:44.

Borne – 0

Myles Borne is in at #3 and clotheslines away at Evans, followed by an Eye of the Hurricane for two. An Angle Slam gets two on Evans as Slater is back inside. Borne slugs away at both of them in the corners but Slater is back with a nasty chop. Evans helps Slater kick Borne in the head before knocking Slater down for two.

Dion Lennox is in at #4 and gets two off a northern lights suplex to Borne. Evans is back up to slug away at Lennox until Slater is in to help stomp Lennox down in the corner. Borne is back up to catch Slater in an electric chair, with Lennox adding a top rope clothesline. Lennox’s Air Raid Crash pins Evans at 12:40.

Borne plants Slater for two and then punches away at him in the corner. A running corner splash hits Lennox but Slater kicks Borne in the face. Evans is back in with a heck of a springboard clothesline to Borne, followed by a dive to Slater. Back in and a frog splash gets two on Borne as Joe Hendry is here to complete the field. A double fall away slam drops Evans and Slater, allowing Hendry to strike his pose. Lennox breaks up the Standing Ovation so Hendry sends him outside for the big dive. Back in and Hendry’s spinning fireman’s carry slam finishes Borne at 17:40.

We get an exchange of rollups until Slater and Evans kick each other in the head to leave everyone down. Borne’s time is up but Lennox kicks the door into his face. Evans is back up with a Swanton Coast To Coast to Lennox but Slater drops Evans and hits the Swanton 450 to pin Hendry at 20:12.

Borne Again hits Slater but Lennox makes the save at two. Borne again hits Lennox as well though and Borne gets the pin at 21:11.

Hendry is back up to beat on Lennox in the box as the other three slug it out from their knees. Slater is back in to clean house and everyone outside of the box is down. Lennox is out but he throws Evans in, with the door being locked because…I have no idea really. Since there is no roof on the thing, Evans climbs out and dives onto Lennox, only for Slater to hit his over the post flip dive.

Evans is back in with the top rope cutter to Slater for two, with Borne making the save as we have less than a minute to go. A super Borne Again drops Evans but Lennox makes another save. There’s the Swanton 450 to Evans but Hendry powerbombs Slater to the floor. Evans small packages Borne for the pin as time expires at 25:00.

Rating: B. It didn’t have quite the drama as the women’s edition but Evans winning here ties into what happened last year when he came just short of winning. Evans is at the point where he has to win something and there is a chance that he pulls it off against Femi. It was another action packed match and the dive off the box was great. Another solid match here with the right winner.

Post match Evans shows respect to everyone, with Lennox not being interested. Oba Femi comes out for the staredown to…not end the show, as we see a video of someone walking on a bridge, though we can’t see his face. Femi and Evans aren’t sure what happened but Tony D’Angelo is back with a spinebuster to Evans. He drops some black…something on Evans (the same thing Ava saw this week) to really end the show.

Overall Rating: B+. Another good show here, with the three big matches more than holding their own. Nothing on here is an all timer but they did a good job with pushing some new stars. I’m curious to see where some of these things go, including the deal D’Angelo at the end. Solid show here, as the Iron Survivor Challenge continues to be one of the best fresh concepts in a long time. Now just follow up with it as we get to the title matches next month.

We’re back in the regular location here and that means it’s time for the final push towards Deadline. The Iron Survivor Challenges are set and that means we get to see where things go from here. The rest of the show needs some attention of its own and hopefully that is what we get here. Let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

The women’s Iron Survivor Challenge participants are in the ring with Ava to get things going. Sol Ruca thinks everyone should see her as being great, even though she’s had some issues recently. Jordynne Grace says she has experience winning and she’ll do it again at Deadline. Lola Vice tells Grace to shut up and Kendal Grey says she’s the only person who is already a champion.

Kelani Jordan (the fans DO NOT like her) doesn’t want to hear from Grey because the Challenge is innovative and electrifying, which describes Jordan as well. The other four are the stand ins and she’s the standout. Cue Fatal Influence to interrupt, with Jayne bragging about her skinny waist and then insulting the participants. Insults ensue, with Jordan and Fatal Influence being cleared out.

Joe Hendry and Thea Hail are rather happy with what’s going on around here. Stacks and Arianna Grace come in for an exchange of insults, with a match between Hail and Grace being set for later.

Ava tells security to keep Kelani Jordan and Jordynne Grace apart. Next up is Fatal Influence, who are going to be in a six woman tag tonight.

Thea Hail vs. Arianna Grace

Joe Hendry and Stacks are here too. Hail’s headlock doesn’t work as she gets pulled down into an armbar. Some forearms to the back and a neckbreaker have Hail in trouble but she avoids a charge. Grace crashes out to the floor and gets suplexed back inside. The guys get in a quick fight and Hail slaps on the Kimura for the win at 2:47.

Earlier this week, Chase U almost hit OTM with their car so OTM yelled at Andre Chase, who yelled at Chase U. Apparently OTM says if this happens again, it’s on sight, even if Chase doesn’t know what that means.

Je’Von Evans, Leon Slater, Joe Hendry and Myles Borne are ready for Darkstate, with Ava saying that there’s going to be a match involving Darkstate for the Iron Survivor Challenge advantage. As she’s explaining this, Robert Stone comes in with a box for Ava. It’s already been opened and it’s….coal?

Josh Briggs vs. Tavion Heights

The brawl is on outside before the bell and they come inside with Heights grabbing a spinebuster. Heights throws him down without much trouble, followed by a capture suplex for two. Briggs manages a good shot out to the floor, where Heights spears him through the barricade for the big crash.

We take a break and come back with Briggs working on an armbar before sending him into the corner. Heights shrugs that off and fires off the clotheslines so Briggs rips the chain off his own neck. The referee takes that away, leaving Heights to hit a belly to belly. Briggs gets a foot on the rope for the break so Heights yells at the referee. That’s enough for Briggs to hit a big clothesline for the pin at 11:36.

Rating: C+. Nice enough power match here and I’m liking the idea of Briggs getting reheated a bit. At the same time I’m not feeling Heights losing again, as he was starting to get somewhere. Unfortunately one of them had to lose here and hopefully Briggs gets to go a bit higher from here.

Here is the Culling for a chat. Izzi Dame gets why the fans love Tatum Paxley so much and the audio cuts off because the fans chant something negative. Dame wasn’t wild on Paxley turning her back on the woman who pulled her out of her terrible place. Paxley was known as a little weirdo freak and Dame gave her confidence.

It felt like Paxley didn’t think what the Culling gave her was good enough. Paxley won the title because Dame allowed her to and then Paxley ignored her. This week, they’ll be facing off at Deadline and Dame has one final lesson for her. Cue Paxley, who says Dame took everything from her and at Deadline, she has to make Dame feel her pain.

Sol Ruca apologizes to Zaria for not being there last week. Zaria says she won’t be here this week but the rest of the team doesn’t really care.

Fatal Influence vs. Kendal Grey/Lola Vice/Sol Ruca

Reid shoves Vice around to start and everything breaks down in a hurry. Grey hits a big dive to the floor and Ruca adds a huge moonsault but Reid forearms her way out of trouble. The fans do the Wave as Henley comes in and gets taken down by an armbar. A basement dropkick gives Grey two but Reid comes back in with a dropkick of her own. Henley trips Grey on the floor and Jayne adds a backsplash as we take a break.

We come back with Grey flipping her way to freedom and rolling over for the tag to Vice. House is quickly cleaned, including the running hip attacks in the corner. Everything breaks down again and a springboard Blockbuster takes Ruca down. A double running knee gives Jayne two with Vice making the save. Ruca is back up with a slingshot X Factor and the Sol Snatcher finishes Jayne at 11:13.

Rating: B-. Ruca continues to feel like an absolute star and that is likely going to be the case for a long time to come. It wouldn’t shock me to see her go after Jayne’s title sooner than later as it isn’t like she has much else to do. On the other hand you have Grey, who feels like the other big prospect, which could go a long way. The future is bright and that’s a great situation to have.

Post match Zaria comes out and spears Grey, though it’s not clear who she was targeting.

NXT Anonymous shows us Je’Von Evans talking to Ricky Saints. They’re both ready to win at Deadline, though Evans does tease coming after the title.

Dion Lennox wants the NXT Title and gives his Tag Team Title to Saquon Shuggars. Oba Femi comes in and Lennox says he wants to face Femi at New Year’s Evil. Femi tells him to not get ahead of himself.

OTM vs. Chase U

Andre Chase is here with Chase U, who jump the monsters to start fast. A Swanton gives Connors two on Price, who gets chopped down in a hurry. That’s broken up and Dixon comes in to chop away. Price kicks him in the face though and the running stomp gets two, with Nima picking Dixon up. A press slam is countered into a Codebreaker though and it’s back to Connors to clean house. The tornado DDT gives Connors two and Nima gets sent outside with a springboard Stunner. Back in and the assisted sitout Alabama Slam finishes Connors at 4:38.

Rating: C+. Chase U hasn’t felt like anything for a good while now but at least they got in a nice performance here. They have to win something at some point or it won’t matter though, that point has probably already passed. At least OTM feels like they are being treated as something serious, which just needs to last.

We look at Ethan Page in a tag match against Mr. Iguana in AAA last month.

Page tries to leave but Ava stops him to say he has a title defense. Against Mr. Iguana. Who steals Page’s car.

Shiloh Hill talks about getting to eat raccoon at Thanksgiving and talks about a Thanksgiving race from when he was a kid. He got lost in the forest and went into survival mode, which changed things for him. It helped him on LFG, where Undertaker fired him up by telling him to take his opponents’ souls.

The winning side gets to pick the entry for the Iron Survivor Challenge. Griffin throws Borne around to start and it’s off to Shuggars for a cravate. Borne fights back with an Eye of the Hurricane and it’s off to Hendry for a shoulder. Shuggars slips out of the fall away slam and James comes in, earning a dropkick from Slater.

Evans’ double stomp to the back connects but James doesn’t like getting chopped. A springboard hurricanrana takes Lennox down but he pops back up with a spinebuster to plant Borne. Everything breaks down and the big slugout is on with Darkstate cleaning house on the floor.

We take a break and come back with Evans sliding between the legs and diving over to tag Hendry. That doesn’t go anywhere as Hendry gets choked on the rope and legdropped. Griffin comes back in for a shot to the face and Lennox slaps on a guillotine. That’s escaped with a backdrop and it’s Slater coming back in to start the comeback. Evans comes in for the big dives and a cutter drops Griffin for two. Everything breaks down with Hendry and Lennox brawling to the back. Borne tags himself in and it’s Slater’s Swanton 450 into Borne Again to give Borne the pin at 14:49.

Rating: B-. Well the point here was about having some issues with the good guys as they vie for an advantage in the Iron Survivor Challenge. That could have been a lot worse, though the match was about what you would have expected. Darkstate losing here is ok, but it shouldn’t happen very often. At the same time, Hendry doesn’t exactly feel hot now that he’s officially in NXT. Maybe that changes, but it’s not a great start.

Oba Femi and Ricky Saints are in the back for their contract signing. They both sign, while talking about how they promise to win. Ava tells them that they’re opening the show to wrap it up.

Overall Rating: B. They did a nice job of making me want to see Deadline, which is feeling like a more important show than they’ve had in a good while. It features the unique Iron Survivor Challenges and this show made me want to see what they’re going to do. That’s a great way to set up the new year and hopefully they can make the whole thing work. For now though, nice job of setting the table.

It’s the second week of Gold Rush and that means it’s time for more title matches. This includes the usual assortment of titles being on the line, but we are also less than a month away from Deadline. In this case, that means John Cena will be announcing the participants in the annual Iron Survivor Challenges. Let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

We open with a recap of last week’s show.

Evolve Title: Sean Legacy vs. Jackson Drake

Drake, with Swipe Right, is defending. Legacy starts fast with some atomic drops to send him outside, where Swipe Right offers a distraction. That lets Drake get in a cheap shot from behind but Legacy snaps off a dropkick back inside. Drake suplexes him into the corner though and we take a break.

We come back with Drake striking away but Legacy manages a missile dropkick to the floor. Legacy takes out Swipe Right and gets two off a sitout implant DDT. Drake kicks him back down and drops some moonsault knees for two of his own. They head up top with Legacy grabbing something like a tabletop superplex for two more but Drake drapes him over the top. A springboard knee to the back of the head sets up the Unaliver (running knee) to retain the title at 10:58.

Rating: C+. Perfectly fine match here, though Legacy is starting to lose his charm. He felt like the one who was going to be the big breakout star in Evolve and then he keeps losing. Maybe he’s turning heel or something soon, but this is only getting him so far. Nothing bad here, but it felt like a glorified warmup match.

Earlier today, Ethan Page came up to Sol Ruca and told her to stop worrying about Zaria. Myles Borne came in and Ruca left, with Borne saying he’s ready to face Trick Williams tonight. Page says Williams only worries about himself, which is the right way to go. Sneering ensues.

Speed Title: Fallon Henley vs. Zaria

For the vacant title. Henley, with Fatal Influence, throws her down to start but a sleeper is broken up. Zaria’s sunset flip gets two and she sits down on Henley to break up another cover. The Texas cloverleaf goes on and sends Henley over to the ropes as we’re down to two minutes left. Zaria grabs another sleeper and lifts her up in the corner before sending her outside. Henley is thrown back inside and Zaria goes after Fatal Influence, with Henley using the distraction to get in a cheap shot.

Back in and Zaria’s F5 is countered into a DDT for two so Zaria fireman’s carries her again…as time expires at 5:00. Cue Ava to say not so fast and it’s now Sudden Death. Henley crashes out to the floor and we take a break. We come back with Zaria firing off some clotheslines and sending her flying with a suplex. Reid offers a quick distraction though and Henley hits a Shining Wizard. The Fameasser gives Henley the title at 12:25.

Rating: C+. That’s not exactly what I think of when I hear the word SPEED but it’s nice to see Henley get a win. She’s had a long stretch of not doing much so this is a good development for her career. If nothing else, it makes her feel like something of a star rather than just a lackey on a team, which is how she has felt for a long time now.

Shiloh Hill talks about how important his dad was to him over the years and how the Wrestlemania shirt his dad gave him is a big deal. Nothing wrong with something like this.

John Cena picks the entrants for the Iron Survivor Challenges. For the men, we’ll be seeing Je’Von Evans, Leon Slater, Joe Hendry, Dion Lennox and….the winner of Myles Borne vs. Trick Williams.

TNA Knockouts Title: Lei Ying Lee vs. Jordynne Grace vs. Kelani Jordan

Jordan is defending. Grace (the crowd favorite) and Lee take turns beating on Jordan until Jordan jumps on Grace’s back. That’s broken up with a top rope Blockbuster from Lee, who knees Grace in the head for a bonus. Jordan knocks Lee outside but Grace is back up with a running Vader Bomb. Lee goes after Grace so Jordan double stomps the two of them, followed by a DDT for two on Grace. Jordan’s Asai moonsault takes both of them out and we take a break.

We come back with Jordan frog splashing Grace for two with Lee making the save. Lee takes both of them down but Grace’s German suplex drops her for two more. Jordan’s super Spanish Fly plants Grace for another near fall so Grace powerbombs both of them for two on the champ. Jordan misses a 450 and gets kicked in the face by Lee, with Grace making the save. Grace gives Jordan the spinning torture rack powerbomb but Lee kicks Grace away and steals the pin and the title at 13:59.

Rating: B. This got a good deal of time and thankfully ends the NXT star holding the TNA title deal. Lee is a nice example of someone who needed to win something to boost herself up and this is as good as anything else. There are a lot of talented women in TNA to come after the title and now they don’t have to deal with the invasion nonsense. Nice match here, with the right result.

Fatal Influence is happy with their success and they want Lainey Reid to win her title. Ava comes in to say there’s no interference.

We get a sitdown interview with Ricky Saints, who talks about how important it will be to face Oba Femi again at Deadline. Yes he beat Femi before, but now he’s not sure if he can do it again. Now he’s gotten all kinds of questions and people wondering if he can do it. What does it mean if he can’t again? All he knows is he’s going to prove that the impossible is possible again. Because he’s Ricky Saints.

Evolve Women’s Title: Kendal Grey vs. Lainey Reid

Grey, with Wren Sinclair, is defending and tackles her down to start the brawl fast. The early cross armbreaker attempt is broken up so Grey switches to just stomping away in the corner. Reid heads outside, where she manages to trip Grey face first into the steps (and HARD at that) as we take a break.

We come back with Grey’s top rope moonsault taking Reid down to start the comeback. Grey gets kicked outside but comes right back in, where Reid stomps her down for two. Reid’s running charge is countered into a powerslam but cue Fatal Influence for a distraction. Wren Sinclair breaks that up but gets knocked into Charlie Dempsey’s arms on the floor. The mass ejections get rid of everyone on the floor and Reid hits a superkick, only to miss a splash. Shades Of Grey (running Downward Spiral) retains the title at 10:28.

Rating: C+. It’s no surprise that WWE wanted to have Grey on a show like this as she is pretty clearly one of their bigger prospects at the moment. That shouldn’t be a surprise as she is young, talented and the fans like her. Let her develop and if it goes well enough, odds are she’ll be a big deal on the main roster one day.

Darkstate is ready to win the NXT Title to go with the Tag Team Titles.

John Cena announces the women’s Iron Survivor Challenge field: Sol Ruca, Lola Vice, Kelani Jordan, Jordynne Grace and Kendal Grey. That’s an interesting field.

Iron Survivor Qualifying Match: Myles Borne vs. Trick Williams

Borne grabs a quick rollup for two to start before grinding away on a headlock. Williams fights out of that and puts on a front facelock, followed by a quick suplex for two. A quick Borne Again gets two and we take an early break. We come back with Williams hammering away, with a flapjack connecting for two. Borne’s small package gets two but he walks into an AA.

The Trick Shot is countered into a powerslam for two more and Borne gets fired up. A reverse DDT gives Borne two but he walks into a release Rock Bottom. They trade shots to the face before both try jumping neckbreakers at the same time for a cool spot. Another Borne Again is blocked so Williams knocks him outside for a spinning kick to the face. Borne Again connects on the floor as well, followed by another inside to pin Williams at 11:21.

Rating: B-. I wasn’t feeling this one as much as I was expecting, as the ending just kind of came out of nowhere. I’m not sure if they ran out of time or something else, but it was like they just wrapped it up in a few seconds. Borne winning is a much more interesting prospect though, as it feels like they have something with him.

Post match Darkstate surrounds the ring but Joe Hendry, Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans run in for the staredown to end the show.

Overall Rating: C+. This show was focused on the Iron Survivor Challenges being set up, with the title matches not feeling nearly as important. With the NXT Title match being held back for Deadline, this show was more about the minor titles, which only made for so much interest. It’s a fine enough show, but more of a setup for later than anything else.

Turning Point 2025

So we’re back with another special, which is coming a day after the Bound For Glory fallout show. The big stories coming out of last night are the NXT invasion and Frankie Kazarian winning the World Title as a result. That is going to make for quite the fallout and we might be seeing some of that here, even on such a short turnaround. Let’s get to it.

Kickoff Show: Jake Something vs. Home Town Man vs. Mance Warner

Steph de Lander is here with Warner. The fans are behind the Man, who gets jumped by Something as Warner watches on. Warner gets in on the slugout but Man punches away at both villains. A double running elbow has both of them in trouble and some right hands connect in the corner. Something clotheslines Warner by mistake so Man punches both of them in the same corner for a bonus.

Then he even alternates to get up to about thirty total punches in a funny move. The double clothesline drops Something and Warner and the fans greatly approve. Something finally manages to run Man over before dropping Warner as well. A delayed suplex has Man in trouble as the fans remind Something that he is NOT from here. De Lander gets in a cheap shot so Warner can chokeslam Man for two (de Lander does NOT like the count).

Something goes up so Warner catches him on top, which is of course turned into a Tower Of Doom for the huge crash. This time it’s Man getting caught on top and the other two slug it out, with Man hitting a big dive to take them out. De Lander yells at Man, saying he is NOT FROM HERE, earning Man a clothesline and de Lander a kiss (from Warner, in case that wasn’t clear). Back in and the Home Town Slice drops Warner but Something sends Man Into The Void for the pin at 7:30.

Rating: B-. Good stuff here in a cold match, with a far more interesting match than I was expecting. At the end of the day, Something is a guy who could be turned into a solid monster if he was allowed to win a bit more (and with some work on the name). Man is a fun novelty act and Warner….did I mention Something and Man?

Here is new World Champion Frankie Kazarian for The King’s Speech. The fans are of course all over him (save for one FRANKIE RULES fan), with Kazarian saying “you wanted the best, you got the best”. He is officially the World Champion and what matters the most is that he knows he is self made, with no one deserving this more than him.

There have been a lot of angry social media posts about him, but every tear off their cheeks is a shot of adrenaline into his black heart. Do not stop being jealous and envious of him because he will not stop hating all of the people. Oh and to make it clear: he had nothing to do with NXT’s invasion. As for tonight, he doesn’t have a guest, but instead he’s going to call someone out. He wants TNA President Carlos Silva to come out to his ring, which is exactly what he gets.

Normally, Silva awards the new champions with their belts, but he was nowhere to be seen last night. So now, Silva gets the chance to right a wrong by handing him the title. Silva does so, and congratulates Kazarian for winning the title, but there will be a formal investigation into the NXT invasion, with Kazarian being a big piece. Cue the Nemeths, with Nic holding the Call Your Shot trophy. Nic says he was attacked by NXT as well, but Kazarian was left alone. He knows Kazarian was behind this, but Kazarian denies it again, saying Nic was on his way to the ring to call his shot before Kazarian came out there.

Kazarian calls him Mr. Money In The Bank and says they’re equal levels of scoundrel. Nic agrees, and says he’s calling his shot, but only after they win their tag match tonight. Kazarian tells him to trust the champ, which Nic will only do for awhile. Nic: “I’ll have your back, and then later I’ll have your title.”

And now, the show proper.

We open with a recap of NXT costing Mike Santana the World Title last night. What else is there to talk about?

Knockouts Title: M By Elegance vs. Kelani Jordan

M, with the rest of the Elegance Brand, is challenging. After the Big Match Intros, M jumps her to start fast and fires off some chops. Jordan gets in some shots of her own but walks into a hip attack to the face. Back up and Jordan knocks her to the floor, with a big moonsault taking her down again. The Brand offers a distraction though and M gets in a boot to the head as a result. A northern lights suplex gives M two and it’s off to the double arm crank.

Jordan fights up but walks into a wheelbarrow suplex, allowing M to go up. The moonsault misses though and they slowly get up to slug it out. Jordan flips out of a belly to back attempt and hits a rolling shot to the face for the knockdown. A standing legdrop gives Jordan two but One Of A Kind is broken up. M’s Samoan driver gets two so Jordan starts in on the leg. The half crab has M down and Jordan stomps her out of the corner, setting up One Of A Kind to retain at 9:42.

Rating: C+. I’m not sure what to make of Jordan around here. While she’s a full on villain in NXT, she’s a big more neutral here, as she’s the invader but doesn’t wrestle in any different way. In theory a bunch of people are going to come after the title, but it’s not like she’s the female Trick Williams as the ultimate dragon to slay. Having her face the Elegance Brand on back to back nights didn’t help much either, though at least Jordan got to show off her incredible athleticism.

Lei Ying Lee, Xia Brookside and Mara Sade want the Knockouts Title. Ryan Nemeth comes in to say he’s the real story. Oh and Sade’s hair looks wet.

We run down the rest of the card.

We look at the World Title situation from last night. Again.

Santino Marella asks Ava and Arianna Grace about the invasion but Ava says they can manage their own locker rooms and storms off.

AJ Francis vs. BDE

BDE is a Youtuber who Francis put through a table last night before Impact went on the air. Francis takes his time coming in and gets jumped to start fast. Francis’ charge only hits the buckle and BDE strikes away, setting up the required “jump on the bigger guy’s back” choke. That’s broken up with a drop onto his back and Francis hits a splash in the corner. BDE’s ribs are stretched around the post but he avoids a charge, only to get powerbombed HARD onto the apron.

The count is beaten and Francis grabs a crossface chickenwing. Somehow BDE gets out and hits a cutter but the superkick is cut off. A Canadian Destroyer actually drops Francis and a running knee gets two. The frog splash misses though and it’s a spear into the Down Payment. For some reason BDE tells him to bring it, so it’s another Down Payment to give Francis the pin at 8:40.

Rating: B-. All things considered, this was a fun match with BDE clearly having the time of his life out there. He knows how to do big spots and that’s about all he needs to do, with Francis being there to handle the selling. It wasn’t a great match, but this could have been FAR worse. Maybe just don’t have BDE around that often though, as the charm might wear off quickly.

Steve Maclin doesn’t know if Mike Santana will be here tonight but he’s ready to fight alone if he has to. If NXT wants to go to war, they picked the wrong man.

Indi Hartwell vs. Dani Luna

No DQ after Luna brought in a chair last night but Hartwell used it on her instead. The brawl starts in the aisle with Hartwell managing another chair shot. They go to ringside, where Hartwell gets a quick drink and throws a collection of weapons inside. A ladder takes a bit too long though and it gets dropkicked into Hartwell for the delay. Hartwell is fine enough to drive her into the steps and it’s time to set up a table.

This takes too long as well (she has a problem with that) and gets powder thrown in her eyes, allowing Luna to snap off a German suplex. Back in and Luna unloads with some stop sign shots to the back for two. Luna sends her into a chair for two more but Hartwell is back with some kendo stick shots. The Hurts Donut is broken up though and Luna hits a slingshot Blue Thunder Bomb for two.

A crossface with the kendo stick is broken up as well and Hartwell gives her a spinebuster onto the ladder for two. Hartwell kicks her onto the table at ringside and drops a big elbow through it for the double down. They get back inside and Luna tries the Lunar Landing, which is reversed into the Hurts Donut onto the chair to give Hartwell the pin at 14:02.

Rating: B. It was a good, violent brawl and the kind of win that Hartwell needed after coming up short at Bound For Glory. Odds are she’ll become a bigger part of the division for a bit, though I’m not sure she’s going to be the one to rescue the title. On the other hand you had Luna, who was a good dragon for Hartwell to slay in a hard hitting match.

Santino Marella apologizes to Ava for the earlier accusations and they seem cool as Ava leaves again.

Knockouts Tag Team Titles: Tessa Blanchard/Victoria Crawford vs. Angel Warriors vs. IInspiration

For the sake of simplicity, Cassie Lee will be referred to as Cassie and Lei Ying Lee will be referred to as Lei. The IInspiration is defending, but Blanchard is in street clothes. It turns out that she isn’t medically cleared and, after insulting the Orlando friends, introduces Mila Moore as her replacement. Lei and Cassie start things off with an exchange of rollups for two each and everything breaks down. The IInspiration gets to clean house and strike their pose but Lei suplexes Moore for two.

Back up and Moore drops her throat first across the top rope and stomps Lei down in the corner. The chinlock goes on for a bit, followed by a knee. The IInspiration is knocked outside and it’s Crawford coming in…and getting kicked into the corner almost immediately. Brookside comes in with Broken Wings and the IInspiration has to make a save. Everything breaks down and Moore’s big boot gets two as a six way brawl breaks out. Lei sends Moore into the post and dives onto Crawford and Moore, leaving the IInspiration to hit a quick Idolizer to pin Brookside and retain at 8:31.

Rating: B-. Fun enough match here, even with pretty much no story and one of the teams not being a regular pairing in the first place. The IInspiration are still the best team around and should be champions for a good while, though at least there are some teams coming together to go after the titles. Moore did get off to a nice start and certainly looked poised out there, with her size being a nice natural advantage.

Order 4 vs. Hardys/Cedric Alexander

Order 4 doesn’t like any of them and the good guys are…well they’re all from North Carolina. Alexander and Hotch start things off and run the ropes a lot with neither getting very far. Hotch gets caught by the arm though and it’s off to Jeff to stay on said appendage. Matt rams Hotch into all of the buckles before sending Skyler and Ali out to the floor. The good guys complete the ring clearing until Alexander sends Ali into the corner, allowing commentary to talk about their previous match at Wrestlemania.

Tasha Steelz offers a distraction though and Ali goes to the eyes to break up the Lumbar Check. Agent Zero gets in a cheap shot to Alexander, meaning it’s time for a glare off on the floor. Back in and Alexander hits a quick Michinoku Driver and an enziguri, but Skyler pulls the Hardys off the apron in an always smart move. As tends to be the case, the hot tag connects a few seconds later with Matt coming in to clean house. The Twist Of Fate is broken up though and what looks like a foreign object shot hits Matt for two.

A DDT gets Matt out of trouble and it’s Jeff coming back in to take over. Everything breaks down and the Lumbar Check hits Hotch, with Ali making the save. Jeff tries to go up but Steelz breaks up the Swanton attempt, leaving Matt to hit a double Twist Of Fate on Steelz and Ali at the same time. Zero pulls the referee at two so the Hardys use chairs to clear him out. Unfortunately that leaves Alexander alone and Ali kicks him low, setting up the small package for the pin at 13:33.

Rating: C+. Order 4 continues to be a good choice for a pesky midcard group who could wind up being a threat. I could go for Ali and Zero going after the Tag Team Titles, as they definitely feel like a better threat than the Great Hands. The Hardys should be losing the titles in a big deal sooner than later and Order 4 could be a good choice.

The System vs. Rascalz/Dezmond Xavier

Xavier is the former Wes Lee, who is out of NXT. JDC and Reed start things off and fight over some waistlocks until JDC snaps off a headscissors. Reed takes him down just as fast and dances a bit so it’s off to Miguel to dropkick Myers for two. Edwards comes in to work on Wentz’s arm until Wentz is back with a springboard high crossbody. Moose comes in to face Xavier and the fans certainly approve.

A missed charge takes Moose down though and it’s a quick quadruple dropkick for two as the System just watches from the apron. It’s back to Myers to take over but a shot to the face cuts that off just as fast. Xavier comes back in to pick the pace way up and Moose adds the dropkick to knock Xavier off the ropes. The chokebomb gets two, followed by a powerslam/top rope knee combination. The Rascalz are back in for a triple dropkick to Moose but Xavier’s dive to the floor is countered with an apron bomb.

Myers spears Wentz off the apron and we hit the parade of dives, with Reed hitting a huge one onto the pile. Down And Dirty hits Xavier but a top rope Meteora makes the save. The parade of strikes to the face is on until it’s a double torture rack/double top rope double stomp to JDC for two, with Moose powerbombing Miguel onto the cover for two. Moose goes up but dives into a cutter, followed by a UFO Cutter. Hot Fire Flame into the Spinal Tap gives Xavier the pin on JDC at 14:21.

Rating: A-. Easily the best thing on the show thus far and one of the best TNA matches in a long time. Once they stopped having a regular match and just went nuts, it was all kinds of entertaining, with Moose as the big power guy and the Rascalz trying to find a way around him with all of their teamwork. I loved this and it was far better than anything I was expecting on this show.

The Rascalz and Xavier have a big hug in a nice moment. Respect is shown as well.

Eric Young comes up to Santino Marella and wants to expose the truth, which he seems to suggest is something Marella is hiding. Or something.

X-Division Title: Leon Slater vs. Rich Swann

Slater is defending and takes him down by the arm to start. Swann is taken into the corner for a clean break before a nice headscissors lets him dance a bit. Back up and Slater sends him to the apron for a big boot, followed by the dive to the floor. Some running shots in the face in the corner rock Swann but he’s right back with a rolling clothesline. Swann wins a strike off and backdrops Slater face first onto the steps for a SICK sounding crash.

We pause to look at his eye but Slater wants to fight anyway, allowing Swann to superkick him out of the air for two. Slater is fine enough to hit something like a spinning White Noise for two so Swann goes right back to the eye. A slingshot cutter gives Slater two but the Styles Clash is cut off.

Swann’s frog splash is countered with a cutter for two more and a spinning torture rack slam drops him again. A quick hurricanrana and the Lethal Injection drop Slater again and the middle rope 450 gets two. Swann goes up again but gets thrown down again, setting up a Styles Clash. The Swanton 450 retains the title at 13:25.

Rating: B. They had a good match but there is only so much you can do after the previous match was stealing the show. It doesn’t help that Slater is at the point of “everything he does is great” and that’s going to become an issue. This was supposed to be another match that was some instant classic and it’s just pretty good. That’s not a bad result, though granted a lot of the issues here was it was set up in about 38 seconds.

Post match Slater is a bit emotional because he recently lost his grandmother, but he says he’s crying because of his eye injury. Oh and he and Je’Von Evans are going to win the NXT Tag Team Titles.

Steve Maclin/Mike Santana vs. Nic Nemeth/Frankie Kazarian

And there’s no Santana, as Maclin is going to have to fight on his own and Ryan Nemeth is making it 3-1. Maclin jumps them both to start fast and hits a Scud on Nic, followed by an Angle Slam for an early two. The spear in the Tree Of Woe gets two more and here is Mara Sade to take Ryan out. Kazarian is back in to slam Maclin and drops a leg for two as we settle down into a regular handicap match. Maclin manages to knock Kazarian away and get up top for a double missile dropkick and a needed breather.

Santana arrives, in jeans, and tags himself in to take over, including a Death Valley Driver on Nic. The running flip dive mostly hits Kazarian but Santana bangs up his already injured arm. Nic’s superkick gets two and it’s back to Kazarian, who rolls Santana up (how he won the title) for two. That just earns him a Spin The Block to give Santana the pin at 10:21. On the new champ. The night after he won the title. Which he stole. Dang I hate the instant cash in stuff.

Rating: C. This felt like a quick TV main event, though it wasn’t quite as good as when Steve Austin and Dude Love did something similar in 1997. Maclin continues to be an underrated valuable player around here, as he’s a firm midcard hand and someone who feels like he could be elevated into the main event in the blink of an eye. Santana needed the win after last night, though I’m almost scared to know how long this latest chase to the title is going to go.

Post match Nic tries to cash in his title shot but the NXT guys run in to beat down everyone (including Kazarian) down. Some other TNA wrestlers are cut off and Santino Marella comes out to yell. That earns him a beating of his own so here are the Hardys with chairs…to get beaten down as well. The NXT stars keep up the attacking to end the show.

Overall Rating: B. Underwhelming main event aside, I was expecting absolutely nothing coming into this show and wound up having a good time. The eight man tag absolutely stole the show and thankfully it wasn’t the only good thing on here. I’m really not sure what they’re doing with the main event scene, but the rest of the show was more than worth a look. I wouldn’t recommend it if you’re looking for the next big step in TNA, but it was a good example of what their stars can do.
