WWE World – April 19, 2026: What A Surprise (Seriously)

WWE World
Date: April 19, 2026
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada
Commentators: Jeremy Borash, Jose Manuel Guillen, Roberto Figueroa, Robert Stone

Well they did this on the first day of WWE World and I guess we’re doing it again to close things out. This is basically just background noise and a chance to have some live matches while the WWE World convention is going on and this time they happen to be broadcast with commentary. Let’s get to it.

Creed Brothers vs. LWO

Brutus and Wilde start things off with Wilde teasing him with a shirt like a bull. That doesn’t work so del Toro comes in for a double knockdown and an assisted moonsault connects. It’s off to Julius, who is quickly headscissored and dropkicked. Brutus comes back in to take over on Wilde for the first time and knocks del Toro off the apron as well.

Julius slams Brutus onto Wilde for two but he crawls through the lets and gets the tag off to del Toro. House is quickly cleaned and a moonsault gets two, with Brutus making the save. Everything breaks down and the LWO hit stereo suicide dives, followed by a top rope splash for the pin on Brutus at 8:00.

Rating: C+. This has been your latest reminder that the Creeds are indeed employed and I’m a bit surprised that they got a chance here. It’s not that they’re a bad team but they haven’t gotten to do anything for such a long time that it’s easy to forget they exist. The LWO is good for your regular high flying pair and the match wasn’t bad at all.

Erik vs. Psycho Clown

This is part of a pretty hot feud in AAA. They actually go technical to start before trading the big clotheslines. The running clotheslines in the corner don’t get anywhere until Erik is knocked outside. Clown gives chase and gets cut off on the way back in, as tends to be the case when chase is give.

The reverse chinlock goes on for a bit before Erik just hammers away with right hands. That’s enough for Clown to fight up and kick him in the head in the corner, followed by an air raid crash for two. Erik is back up with a spinebuster for two but a full nelson slam is blocked. Clown knocks him outside for a suicide dive and the frog splash finishes at 8:48.

Rating: B. This was a match where they had no reason to go this hard and they wound up having a heck of a match, with both guys working incredibly hard. That’s all this could have been and it’s not a surprise that one of the biggest stars in AAA beat half of a tag team. Still though, heck of a hoss fight here that completely exceeded expectations.

Fallon Henley vs. Jaida Parker

They go with the grappling to start and Henley accuses her of pulling hair. That’s not working so Henley takes her down and sits on her back for some riding. Back up and Parker knocks her into the corner before firing off some big shots to the face. Henley fights back and mocks Parker’s high stepping pose, earning herself a slam. The Tear Drop connects for Parker but the Hipnotique is cut off. The second attempt connects though and it’s Deja Vu to pin Henley at 7:04.

Rating: C. Parker continues to feel like an absolute star in the making. She has that X factor to her and you can see the charisma in her eyes. If she can get the in-ring side of things down (and she’s getting better), the sky is the limit for her. Henley did her usual stuff here and was perfectly fine as well.

Myles Borne/Shiloh Hill vs. Los Americanos

Borne and Rayo start things off with Borne winning an exchange of shoulders. Bravo comes in for the double team striking but everything breaks down with Hill helping make the save. Rayo gets crotched against the post and Bravo gets the same treatment on the rope. Borne grabs a very delayed vertical suplex and hands it off to Hill, who actually drop Rayo.

The Americanos take over on Hill and snap his legs, with Rayo suddenly having a three foot tag rope. That doesn’t work and Bravo accidentally drops Bravo before missing a flag assisted top rope splash. The tag brings in Bourne to clean house and everything breaks down, with Hill coming back inside. The loaded up headbutt knocks Hill silly for the pin at 10:00.

Rating: B-. The fact that a mostly makeshift team had me wondering who was going to win is a good sign. Borne not taking the fall is nice to see and at least Los Americanos cheated to get the win. I’ve seen others do that hand off suplex before and it’s still rather impressive. Nice match here to wrap things up.

Overall Rating: B-. This was fun to see and it more than accomplished its goal. These matches weren’t going to be anything important and there wasn’t much in the way of star power. The matches were meant to be live wrestling for the sake of live wrestling and it worked out well, with Clown vs. Erik being far better than I would have expected.

Psycho Clown b. Erik – Frog splash

WWE World – April 16, 2026: As Advertised

WWE World
Date: April 16, 2026
Location: Las Vegas Convention Center, Las Vegas, Nevada
Commentators: Jeremy Borash, Robert Stone

So this is something that has been done a few times before, as there are live matches taking place at WWE World. This time though, WWE is actually broadcasting them on Youtube. Odds are these aren’t going to be the biggest matches in the world but I’ll take it over nothing at all. Let’s get to it.

NXT Women’s North American Title: Alba Fyre vs. Tatum Paxley

Paxley is defending and there’s a giant inflatable version of her next to the entrance. They go with the grappling to start and Fyre quickly escapes the front facelock and hits a quick dropkick. Paxley rolls her up for two and sends Fyre outside, where Fyre sends Paxley into the steps.

Back in and a basement superkick gives Fyre two but she misses a knee drop as commentary hypes up next week’s NXT. A running flipping ax kick gives Paxley two but she misses a 450. Fyre’s Gory Bomb gets two so she tries another rollup, only to get caught with her feet on the ropes. Paxley gets up and grabs a quick Cemetery Drive for the pin at 8:02.

Rating: C+. This is exactly what you want on a show (ok it’s not really a show) like this as you have some stakes with the title on the line and Paxley gets the win over a main roster star. The match isn’t supposed to be some classic but but they had a completely competent match, which shouldn’t be surprising. WWE has raised the basement of what they do in the ring and you could see it again here.

Lilian Garcia hypes up the rest of the weekend before introducing the next match.

Fraxiom vs. Motor City Machine Guns

Sabin and Frazer start things off with a bit of running until Sabin takes him down without much trouble. Everything breaks down and Fraxiom knees them out to the floor, where the Guns score with stereo kicks. Back in and Sabin’s slingshot hilo gets two on Axiom and a step up elbow to the back gives Shelley two. Some rapid fire elbows connect for two more but Axiom manages to fight out of…well not much as he’s sent outside again.

Axiom kicks them down though and brings Frazer back in for a Sling Blade to Sabin. They go up top with Sabin’s super hurricanrana being blocked, allowing him to hit a double high crossbody. Shelley is sent outside though, leaving Sabin to superkick Frazer. Back in and Axiom is cleared out, meaning it’s the Dirt Bomb to pin Frazer at 11:07.

Rating: B-. This was pretty much exactly what you would expect: a fast paced match between two teams who know how to do this style perfectly well. It’s nice to see the Guns getting a win, or even ring time, as they haven’t been around much lately. I could go for seeing more of it, though that might not be the most likely result.

Overall Rating: C+. This was exactly as advertised: a couple of basic matches that serve as background noise. If you were at WWE World and didn’t want to stand in line, here is some live action to see instead. That’s been done dating back into the early days of Axxess because it’s just not a hard thing to put together. The tag match was good and the opener was fine, so for around half an hour, I’ve seen far worse.

Tatum Paxley b. Alba Fyre – Cemetery Drive
Motor City Machine Guns b. Fraxiom – Dirt Bomb to Frazer

Weekend So Far

I’ll spare you my bad travel issues.

Thursday

Stardom – I try to take in shows that I won’t get to see otherwise and when else am I going to get to see Japanese women’s wrestling?  I didn’t exactly know much about most of the names but I caught on fast enough and the matches were fun.  Toni Storm showed up in a great bonus moment near the end.  Fun show, but it was really short at only about an hour and forty minutes.

WrestleCon Supershow – It was a very fun show with some great action, but unfortunately I had a bad case of vertigo kick in about ten minutes before the show started and it only started clearing up about halfway through the next to last match of the night.  I could barely focus on the show, so this is going to need a heck of a rewatch.

Now that being said, the big ending was the Sandman making his full entrance, complete with Enter Sandman in the ECW Arena.  I’m far from an ECW fan but the Sandman was the coolest thing ever when I was a kid.  Seeing him getting to do that entrance in that building was one of the coolest moments I’ve ever seen at any show and it was absolutely special.

Related note: I went to Denny’s for supper after the show and a group of CMLL wrestlers were sat next to me.  They were unmasked and wouldn’t say who they were, but Barbero Cavernario was there and confirmed it was in fact them (Mistico was at another show so I definitely didn’t meet him).

Friday

WrestleCon – As usual, this is an insane amount of people in one place but thankfully they were spread out over multiple rooms.  The lines were long, but I did pick up a new book about the early 80s WWF and a gift for the wife.  It was cool to see the bigger names, but I didn’t really talk to any wrestlers due to the amount of fans there.  Granted it also doesn’t help when I’ve met most of them before anyway.

WWE World (Axxess) – Nope.  I’ve been to more WWE events than I can count and I do not remember being more disappointed than this.  It was badly lit, they only had some of the always cool pay per view banners hanging down, the lines were WAY too long to stand in and most of it was just for photo ops.  I actually spent more time walking (20 minutes) from WrestleCon to this than I spent at the event (15 minutes).  This was horrible and if Fanatics is running it again next year, it’s absolutely being dropped from the itinerary.

Progress – I got to this a bit late and knew almost no one on the card, but they pulled me in with everything they did.  This was a very entertaining show with some good action and some absolutely hilarious matches (even Bussy won me over, which I didn’t think was possible).  Fun stuff here and maybe the best mixture of quality and comedy I’ve seen at an indy show in a good while.  Also met a reader (Muffin Top Merkley) which is always fun to see.

Joey Janela’s Spring Break 8 – I don’t follow GCW but I knew enough of the people on this show.  It was the usual rowdy crowd (save for the main event oddly enough) and it worked well enough.  The show was long (as it tends to be) but it went well, with the biggest problem being the seating.  I got a sixth row seat with nothing specified on the ticket other than “sixth row”.  I sat in a seat but was told I had my own seat with my literal name on it, as they were apparently set up alphbetically.  This wound up being true, and I was stuck sitting between two good sized people, to the point where I couldn’t put my arms down for most of the show.  So if a buddy of mine and I buy tickets separately and have different last names, we can’t sit together?  That’s not a great plan.

Overall, good stuff so far, but we get to the big stuff tomorrow.
