NXT – October 21, 2025: A Silkier Tater Tot

NXT
Date: October 21, 2025
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T.

We’re rapidly approaching this weekend’s Halloween Havoc and some of the card has already been announced. The rest of the show should be put together tonight so we should be in for a rapid fire build here. Other than that, we have the start of the latest Speed Title #1 contenders tournament so let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

Opening recap.

Here is new #1 contender to the Women’s Title, Tatum Paxley, with the rest of the Culling. The fans tell Paxley that she deserves it and she says she freaking did it. Paxley talks about the lows she has achieved in the last four years but the people have always had her back. Everything is going right for her on the way to Halloween Havoc and she knows that the Culling will have her back as she wins the Women’s Title.

Cue Fatal Influence, with Jacy Jayne saying Paxley is the latest person to come after the title. Yeah Jayne was beatable to start but look where they are now. Paxley says that now she’s the one no one believes in but she keeps getting better and better. Fallon Henley says the Culling might leave Paxley after she leaves so Izzi Dame calls out Fatal Influence for turning on Jazmyn Nyx. They argue over whose friendship is stronger, with Henley calling Paxley “Tater Tot”. A challenge is issued for a tag match and Fatal Influence is cleared out.

Stacks is in the back with Arianna Grace, who apparently got him the X-Division Title shot. They’re also apparently an item.

Leon Slater and Je’Von Evans are disturbed by the new couple and want some opponents.

TNA X-Division Title: Leon Slater vs. Stacks

Stacks, with Arianna Grace, is challenging and Leon Slater has Je’Von Evans with him. They fight over wrist control to start until Stacks sends him into the corner, only to get kicked away. Another whip into the corner works a bit better for Stacks but Slater bounces up with a spinning kick to the face. Stacks is sent outside for a slingshot dive and Evans jumps on commentary to send us to a break.

We come back with Slater fighting out of an abdominal stretch but getting dropped ribs first onto the top rope. A belly to back faceplant and fireman’s carry gutbuster give Stacks two but Slater fights up. Slater kicks Grace off the apron and right into Evans’ arms, followed by the big running flip dive over the top to take Stacks down. Back in and the Swanton 450 retains the title at 10:56.

Rating: B-. Stacks is a good hand in the middle of the card (with the Heritage Cup feeling more and more forgotten every week) and putting him in a match like this is a good way to go. At the same time, I’m curious about the idea of someone using Grace to get to Santino Marella, as it’s an interesting enough idea. Slater continues to look like more of a star every time he’s in the ring and he is absolutely worth following going forward.

Post match Slater and Evans say they want a tag match and don’t care who they face. Cue La Parka and Mr. Iguana to say they have a match with Slater and Evans for Halloween Havoc. AAA is taking over Arizona.

Zachary Wentz wants the Speed Title.

Speed Title #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Zachary Wentz vs. Jasper Troy

Wentz dodges around to start and kicks him down to the floor. A dive connects with a minute gone but another dive is blocked. That’s fine with Wentz, who hits his third dive, followed by a Swanton for two back inside. Troy runs him over and grabs a Black Hole Slam for the win at 2:05.

Kelani Jordan finds her clothes thrown out of the locker room. Most of the women say Jordan chose TNA and walk off. Jordynne Grace is on Jordan’s side but Jordan doesn’t want to hear it because it’s always about Grace, who probably just wants the title back.

Darkstate brags about taking out the Hardys…and we warp to the Hardy Compound. Oh no. And yes they’re Broken again (via the Lake Of Reincarnation) and the match at Halloween Havoc will be under Broken Rules. If it’s a one off, fine.

We look at Sol Ruca being injured last week on Smackdown.

Ruca, on crutches, is coming to the ring with Zaria, who asks if Ruca wants to do this. Ruca is sure.

Here are Ruca and Zaria for a chat with Ava. Ruca is upset and says she hates to admit it but she can’t defend her title at Halloween Havoc. She’s not going to hold up the division when there are so many people coming for the gold. Cue Blake Monroe to say she’ll take the title right now. Zaria isn’t having this because we don’t give handouts around here. Ruca admits that Monroe is right but Zaria offers to defend the title in Ruca’s place. Ava agrees and Ruca signs off on it, so Zaria lays Monroe out with an F5.

Axiom wants the Speed Title.

Sean Legacy likes his chances against Axiom.

Myles Borne and Tavion Heights are upset with recent losses when Josh Briggs comes in to say there isn’t room for them while he’s around.

Speed Title Tournament #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Axiom vs. Sean Legacy

Axiom misses a running dropkick to start but slips out of the Shambles attempt. A suplex drops Axiom again and a reverse DDT gives Legacy two. Legacy’s springboard is countered but Axiom’s triangle choke is countered. Back up and Legacy grabs a running Spanish Fly as we have a minute left. A nice superkick drops Axiom, who pops to his feet for a jumping knee. Legacy kicks him down but gets caught up top with a super Spanish Fly to give Axiom the pin at 2:58. That was some nice timing at the end and they packed in a lot of stuff here.

Ethan Page is ready to take out El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. at Halloween Havoc.

Hank & Tank vs. OTM

Hank & Tank start the brawl in the aisle and hit stereo dives to take OTM out on the floor. We get the opening bell with Price avoiding a charge in the corner but choking Hank on the ropes anyway. Hank gets choked in the corner as well and a running stomp plants him again. Back up and Hank manages to get over for the tag off to Tank for the house cleaning. Nima is right back with a tilt-a-whirl slam though and the assisted Alabama Slam finishes for Price at 3:35.

Rating: C. This was all about making OTM look like a monster team again and they did it well here. That’s what you need every so often, especially with OTM having been gone for so long. Smashing through former Tag Team Champions is a good look and OTM came off as dominant in their return.

Post match OTM puts Hank through the announcers’ table.

After shilling some Maybelline, Wren Sinclair talks to Lash Legend, who isn’t impressed. Kendal Grey comes in and seems to challenge Legend, who doesn’t seem worried.

Halloween Havoc rundown.

Culling vs. Fatal Influence

Reid and Paxley start things off with Paxley charging into a boot in the corner but avoiding an elbow. Jayne comes in to miss a charge in the corner and get caught by a kind of running crossbody. Dame slams Jayne for two but Jayne is back up with a quick clothesline. A tilt-a-whirl backbreaker cuts Jayne off again and it’s back to Paxley, who cleans house. Jayne manages a neckbreaker though and Paxley is down as we take a break.

We come back with Dame getting the hot tag to clean house, including a double clothesline. A chokeslam gets two on Jayne but Dame is knocked into the corner. Paxley tags herself back in to pick up the pace but Fallon Henley gets pulled in. Dame and Reid fight on the floor and it’s the Rolling Encore to pin Paxley at 10:13.

Rating: C+. That’s quite the weird way to go for the result as Paxley is already not the strongest challenger but she loses to the champion here. In theory that points to a title change on Saturday and…I could see it happening. Either that or Dame turns on Paxley, but either way, at least there is a set of options here and that’s a good sign.

Post match Fatal Influence sends Dame into the steps. Paxley gets surrounded but fights out of trouble and holds up the title.

Here is Ava for the NXT Title contract signing. Trick Williams and Ricky Saints come out, with Booker T. being quite the Trick fan. Williams talks about waiting for his moment and that’s why he’s in the main event. That’s why he made Saints wait at Showdown, because Williams is the only one who can carry this place. The only thing he is loyal to is himself, which is why he’s going to become a three time NXT Champion. Williams signs and Saints talks about how Williams was a big deal but lost the plot along the way.

Saints knows Williams was ready to move away a long time ago. Williams says he doesn’t belong on the indies and he sees someone cosplaying as champion when he looks at Saints. Then he’s winning the title back and the Absolute Era will be absolutely ever. Saints says he’s smoother and “silkier” than Williams could ever be. The fight is on but Saints F5’s him through a table.

One more Halloween Havoc rundown ends the show.

Overall Rating: B-. This was a show with a clear focus and that part worked out well. While there are issues with some of the matches at Halloween Havoc, I’m more interested in seeing the show than I was coming in. The wrestling here was only so good, but that wasn’t the point this time. It made for a good enough show here, and now we get to see what happens at the big event later this week.

Results
Leon Slater b. Stacks – Swanton 450
Jasper Troy b. Zachary Wentz – Black Hole Slam
Axiom b. Sean Legacy – Super Spanish Fly
OTM b. Hank & Tank – Assisted Alabama Slam to Tank
Fatal Influence b. Culling – Rolling Encore to Paxley

Smackdown – October 17, 2025: Hmm?

Smackdown
Date: October 17, 2025
Location: SAP Center, San Jose, California
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Corey Graves

We’re back in the states for Smackdown and the scheduled big match this week is Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre in a grudge match that has been built up for a long time now. We are also coming up on Saturday Night’s Main Event and that means the card is going to need to be set up. Let’s get to it.

Here is Crown Jewel if you need a recap.

We open with a long recap of Crown Jewel, including Seth Rollins beating Cody Rhodes in the Crown Jewel Title match. We also look at the Vision turning on Rollins the following night on Raw.

Here is Nick Aldis in the ring for a chat. He brings up the Jacob Fatu vs. Drew McIntyre match for later tonight, which is now a #1 contenders match to face Cody Rhodes, who joins us right now. Rhodes talks about the loss to Rollins, who has his own issues on Raw. As for tonight, Rhodes will handle Smackdown business, like that #1 contenders match. The road to Saturday Night’s Main Event runs through San Jose.

Solo Sikoa interrupts Rey Fenix in the back and the MFT’s beat him down.

Women’s Tag Team Titles: Charlotte/Alexa Bliss vs. Zaria/Sol Ruca

Zaria and Ruca are challenging and NXT’s Blake Monroe (facing Ruca next weekend at Halloween Havoc) is here in the crowd. Charlotte and Ruca start things off with Charlotte flipping out of a wristlock. Ruca and Zaria get booted in the face and it’s off to Bliss for a dropkick to stagger Zaria. A big spinebuster plants Bliss and we take a break.

We come back with Bliss fighting out of a chinlock and elbowing Zaria down. Ruca is right there with a spinning belly to back faceplant but Bliss kicks her way out of trouble. The big tag brings in Charlotte for a high crossbody and it’s time to fire off the chops. Charlotte kicks Zaria in the face and snaps off a suplex for two.

Ruca is back in with a springboard clothesline but dives into a quickly broke Liontamer. The Sol Snatcher gets two with Bliss having to make the save. Zaria cuts off a hurricanrana from the apron and Ruca moonsaults onto Charlotte on the floor. Hold on though as Monroe offers a distraction, allowing Charlotte to chop block Ruca. The Figure Eight retains the titles at 12:07.

Rating: B-. Ruca and Zaria getting a title shot is a good way to go as they’re certainly a thing in NXT and have a story of their own. It’s not like there are a ton of teams on the main roster coming for the titles, so go with whatever you have available. It wound up being a good match as well, as Charlotte and Bliss continue to work well together.

Post match, respect is shown.

Cody Rhodes runs into Jacob Fatu, who promises he’s coming for Rhodes after tonight. Works for Rhodes.

Aleister Black is glad to be back with his wife, Zelina Vega, who describes them as the mirror that shows the infections around here.

We look back at Solo Sikoa and the MFT’s interrupting last week’s US Open Challenge.

Nick Aldis is in the back with the Miz, when Sami Zayn interrupts. The US Open Challenge seems to be off for tonight, as Aldis wants Shinsuke Nakamura to get a fair rematch but he’s not here tonight. Zayn says the challenge is important and he’s going to the ring. Miz leaves as well.

We look at Hulk Hogan’s Rock N Wrestling, which are being added to the WWE Vault YouTube channel every Saturday.

US Title: Sami Zayn vs. ???

Zayn is defending against….well it was supposed to be the Miz, but Carmelo Hayes jumps him from behind. Then ILJA DRAGUNOV returns and we’ve got a title match. We get a handshake to start before they fire off the forearms. An exchange of clotheslines goes to Zayn but Dragunov is back with a running boot in the corner.

We take a break and come back with Zayn grabbing a tornado DDT but Dragunov blasts him with a running boot to the face out of the corner. Zayn wrestles him down for some slow rolling German suplexes. Dragunov plants him down but charges into a Michinoku Driver for two. They fight to the apron, with Zayn hitting an implant DDT to drive Dragunov’s shoulder into the ropes (that’s different) as we take a break.

We come back with Dragunov’s backsplash connecting for two and a top rope superplex plants Zayn again. Zayn cuts him off but misses the Helluva Kick, allowing Dragunov to muscle Zayn up with a suplex. The Constantine Special connects for Dragunov but the Torpedo Moscow is cut off with a boot to the head. The Blue Thunder Bomb gives Zayn two more and it’s Solo Sikoa time. That slows Zayn down and the Helluva Kick is countered into the Torpedo Moscow. The H Bomb gives Dragunov the pin and the title at 19:20.

Rating: B+. As tends to be the case with Dragunov, he gave this everything he had and it made for an awesome performance. That’s what you expect from him and I’m glad to see him finally win something on the main roster. While I’m sad to see Zayn’s Open Challenge come to an end, it wouldn’t have made sense for Dragunov to come back and lose so soon.

Post match the MFT’s run in and beat down both guys. Rey Fenix runs in for a failed save attempt. Solo Sikoa asks if we’ve all forgotten that they run Smackdown. The team will get everything his family lost and they will be champions again. The Wyatt Sicks pop up on screen to say seek and you will be find, but be worried about what is on the other side. That brings the Sicks up behind the MFT’s and the fans REALLY like this. Sikoa and company lose though.

Video on the Australia/Japan tour.

We look at the Women’s Crown Jewel Title match, with Stephanie Vaquer beating Tiffany Stratton.

Stratton isn’t happy with the loss but she’s moving forward. Kiana James comes in to say that attitude is why she wanted to represent Stratton. That doesn’t work for Stratton, who agrees to face James next week. So Rhodes and Stratton have both basically said that losing at Crown Jewel meant nothing, much like the show in general. Good to know.

Earlier today, Los Garza interrupted the Motor City Machine Guns and mocked them, with a match being set up for later tonight.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Los Garza

Shelley and Angel start things off, with Sabin coming in with a missile dropkick into a Downward Spiral to send Angel outside. Back in and Angel gets in a shot of his own before avoiding Shelley’s charge in the corner. We take a break and come back with with Shelley still in trouble but managing to grab a neckbreaker. The diving tag brings in Sabin to clean house, with a crucifix getting two on Berto.

Everything breaks down and the Guns get the better of a slugout until Berto powerbombs Sabin for two. The Gory Bomb/slingshot flipping cutter combination gets two on Shelley and they go to the floor. Berto hits a big flipping dive but Sabin makes a blind tag. Stereo shots in the corner rock Angel and Skull & Bones connects for the pin at 9:26.

Rating: B-. That’s what I’ve been missing from the Guns, as they’re a guaranteed good match no matter who they face. It’s good to see them back in the ring, even if they aren’t in the title picture at the moment. They don’t take time to reheat so let them do their thing and get some momentum going. It’s not like they have anything better to do right now.

Fraxiom wants to find their spot but they aren’t sure how to make that happen. DIY comes in to laugh at them for saying nothing has changed in the last two months. A match is teased.

Jacob Fatu has been attacked in the back and is bleeding from the mouth. Post break Fatu is awake but won’t answer any questions about what happened.

Here is Drew McIntyre for his scheduled match with Jacob Fatu but instead he mocks Fatu’s injury. Nick Aldis comes out to threaten McIntyre if he did this but McIntyre denies the whole thing. Cue Cody Rhodes to say McIntyre knows what he did so let’s do this title match right now. The fight is on and we take a break before the opening bell.

Smackdown World Title: Cody Rhodes vs. Drew McIntyre

Rhodes is defending and in street clothes. We come back for the opening bell and McIntyre tosses him with an overhead belly to belly. Rhodes spears him down and hammers away but gets elbowed in the face for two. The Futureshock gets two and McIntyre pounds him down in the corner. Rhodes manages to fight back and scores with a Cody Cutter to send McIntyre outside. The suicide dive is cut off and McIntyre sends him into the timekeeper’s area, where Rhodes comes up with a belt shot for the DQ at 4:51.

Rating: C+. They didn’t have much time here and it was basically the best idea that they had given the circumstances. That’s perfectly fine, but it makes me wonder if Rhodes was the one behind the attack. He’s been frustrated due to the loss, he’s been very enthusiastic to face Jacob Fatu, and he was very direct in accusing McIntyre. Or maybe it’s someone else, but Rhodes seems to be a strong possibility.

Post match Rhodes loads up the announcers’ table but McIntyre rakes his eyes. They fight onto the table, where security breaks it up, only for Rhodes to dive off the top and take a bunch of people out to end the show.

Overall Rating: B. Solid show here, even with the screwy change that wasn’t WWE’s fault. The wrestling was good tonight, with the US Title match being quite the fight and the opener being rather entertaining as well. They kept things moving here and I liked the show, which has me wondering where a lot of things are going, so nice job of setting up for the future.

Results
Charlotte/Alexa Bliss b. Zaria/Sol Ruca – Figure Eight to Ruca
Ilja Dragunov b. Sami Zayn – H Bomb
Motor City Machine Guns b. Los Garza – Skull & Bones to Angel
Drew McIntyre b. Cody Rhodes via DQ when Rhodes used the title belt

NXT – October 14, 2025: Hurry Up And Havoc

NXT
Date: October 14, 2025
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T.

We’re done with Showdown and it’s already time to get ready for Halloween Havoc. The show is in less than two weeks and that means it’s time to hit the ground running here. This week features a battle royal to find a new #1 contender for the Women’s Title, which should go well enough. Let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

We open with a long recap of Showdown.

Here is Ricky Saints to get things going. Saints talks about how Trick Williams quit last week and that’s because Williams is soft. Williams pops up on screen to say they’ll deal with this but it’s going to be on Williams’ time. Saints wants to fight and the challenge is on for Halloween Havoc.

Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater, whose X-Division Title match at Bound For Glory was interrupted by Darkstate, want some revenge when the Hardys come in. They think Darkstate’s attack was a shot at them and they’re ready to lay in receipts in the rematch with Darkstate at Halloween Havoc. Evans and Slater say they have the Hardys’ backs anytime.

Earlier today Jordynne Grace and Kelani Jordan argued in the back, with Grace saying she would see her in the battle royal.

Matt Cardona vs. Josh Briggs

Cardona knocks him into the corner to start and the fans are rather pleased. A middle rope dropkick puts Briggs down and Cardona hammers away in the corner. Briggs sends him face first into the buckle as the fans want Briggs to go away. A running clothesline drops Cardona again but he’s able to get in a backdrop to the floor. The big running flip dive drops Briggs again and we take a break.

We come back with Cardona in trouble but Briggs is getting frustrated. Cardona sends him into the corner for a running boot to the face, followed by an Unprettier for two. A chokeslam gives Briggs the same so he loads up the chain, which is cut off with Radio Silence for another near fall. Another Unprettier and a tornado DDT are both countered so Briggs boots him in the face for the pin at 11:45.

Rating: C+. Well I’m sure this will entice Cardona to come back around here more often. He might not be a regular around here, but Cardona feels like a bigger deal than Briggs, who hasn’t been doing much in the way of importance recently. Hopefully this isn’t it for Cardona around here as it could be interesting to see what a serious version of him could do in WWE, but this isn’t a great start.

Hank & Tank talk to Chase U and Lyra Valkyria (what a group) when the Culling come in to pull Valkyria away. Izzi Dame mocks the idea of the two teams getting a Tag Team Title shot but Andre Chase seems ready to get a triple threat #1 contenders match ready. Dame promises to win the battle royal.

Video on Fatal Influence, who want to reshape the women’s division. They’re glad that Jazmyn Nyx is gone, having been replaced by Lainey Reid.

El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. vs. Lexis King

Wagner works on the arm to start and drops him with a shoulder. That lets Wagner casually walk over his back before striking away in the corner. King comes back up to walk the ropes, only to drop down and slap him in the mask. Wagner sends him to the floor, where King is nice enough to stand right in place for the moonsault as we take a break.

We come back with Wagner being sent outside, allowing King to send him knee first into the apron. A dragon screw legwhip sets up a leglock but Wagner is able to fight up. The knee is fine enough to kick King in the corner, followed by a Shining Wizard. The Michinoku Driver finishes King at 11:41.

Rating: C. I try to like King, but there is only so much to get out of him at this point. It just isn’t working and that is becoming more and more obvious. Maybe he’s better as a talker or something, but at this point he’s just kind of there and putting others over, which isn’t a great way for him to go.

Post match Wagner calls out Ethan Page, who comes out to say how tiring it is to be North American Champion. The match seems to be set for Halloween Havoc, but Wagner says it’s going to be a Day Of The Dead match where anything goes.

Sol Ruca and Zaria are talking about makeup until Zaria can’t believe that Ruca is in the battle royal tonight. How many titles does Ruca need? Zaria was hoping Ruca would be in her corner but apparently not.

Santino Marella and Ava are in the back with Je’Von Evans and Leon Slater. They want a tag match at Halloween Havoc but Stacks and Arianna Grace (Where the heck have they been?) come in. Stacks gets an X-Division Title shot. We hear a commotion and Trick Williams has attacked Ricky Saints. Apparently that counts as “his time”.

Blake Monroe vs. Zaria

Zaria backs her into and then throws her out of the corner to start. Another toss out of the corner has Monroe in trouble but she manages a facebuster. Zaria’s leg gets tied up in the ropes but she’s able to get in a lifting choke. Monroe knocks her outside and we take a quick break.

We come back with Zaria fighting out of a chinlock but getting kneed right back down. The chinlock goes on again so Zaria jawbreaks her way to freedom. A shot to the face just wakes Zaria up but Monroe headbutts her away. It’s time for a chair but here is Sol Ruca to take it away. The distraction lets Monroe hit Zaria in the neck with a hair pick, setting up a DDT for the pin at 9:47.

Rating: C. The issues between Zaria and Ruca are going to continue and that’s not likely going to end well for either of them. Zaria could use the change of pace as her time around here hasn’t exactly been thrilling thus far. If nothing else, it’s nice to see Monroe getting a win as she hasn’t had much going on lately either.

Ava announces a Men’s Speed Title #1 contenders tournament. Who is asking for these things to continue?

Hank & Tank vs. Chase U vs. Culling

Tank, Vance and Connors trade rollups for two each to start. Spears comes in with a Codebreaker to Tank, sending him over for the tag off to Hank. Tank is right back in with a middle rope elbow to Spears but Chase U is right there with stereo dives to the floor. Back in and Vance takes over on Connors but Hank & Tank send Vance outside. Everyone but Connors collides in the ring…and OTM is here to jump them all for the no contest at 3:34.

Rating: C+. As usual, the action was certainly there, but you’re only going to get so much out of such a short match. The ending adds another team to the mix, which is a good sign as the tag division only has so much quality. There are multiple teams, but most of them are basically warm bodies, which isn’t a great sign for the division’s future.

Post match OTM wrecks everyone, with the fans approving.

Sol Ruca and Zaria make peace, with Ruca giving Zaria her spot in the battle royal.

Ricky Saints goes looking for Trick Williams but Ava says Williams is gone. They’ll see each other next week at the Halloween Havoc contract signing.

Halloween Havoc rundown.

Darkstate has attacked the Hardys.

Battle Royal

Jordynne Grace, Lash Legend, Lei Ying Lee, Xia Brookside, Victoria Crawford, Jaida Parker, Kendal Grey, Tatum Paxley, Wren Sinclair, Karmen Petrovic, Zaria, Mara Sade, Kelani Jordan, Cassie Lee, Jessie McKay, Arianna Grace, Kali Armstrong, Izzi Dame, Heather By Elegance, Thea Hail, Lola Vice

For the Halloween Havoc Women’s Title shot. Paxley is sent to the apron to start but manages to save herself. Petrovic is out and Paxley saves herself again, as does Arianna. Crawford and Arianna team up on the apron and are promptly knocked out by Jordynne. Armstrong gets rid of Lee as the ring is starting to clear out a bit. Sinclair is eliminated and McKay has to save Lee, who is tossed out immediately thereafter.

Legend and Sade (former partners) have a reunion with Legend saving her, only for Zaria to deck Legend, who crashes into Sade for the elimination. Armstrong knocks Brookside out and Legend boots Parker in the face to get rid of her as well. That doesn’t work for Parker, who beats up Brookside as everyone gets together to toss Legend.

We take a break and come back with Hail (who eliminated Heather during the break) being eliminated, along with Armstrong. Cue Blake Monroe to jump Sol Ruca (at ringside, not an entrant), which is enough for Zaria to eliminate herself for the save. Vice is tossed in a bit of a surprise and Grey gets rid of McKay. Jordan tries a sunset bomb to the floor to get rid of Jordynne…and then walks on her hands (Vic: “Kofi Kingston-esque!”) towards the apron. She gets her feet in the ropes and starts to pull herself up, where Jordynne casually stomps her down for the elimination (that was oddly hilarious).

We’re down to Grey, Dame, Jordynne and Paxley, with Jordynne and Grey skinning the cat to avoid eliminations. Jordynne plants everyone but doesn’t get any eliminations, leaving Grey to grab a diving tornado DDT onto Dame. Paxley is sent to the apron again and Dame gets rid of Grey to get us down to three. Paxley holds Jordynne for a running clothesline from Dame, which causes the two of them to crash out to the floor, leaving Paxley as the surprise winner at 15:28.

Rating: B-. I liked this more than I was expecting, if nothing else due to the twist ending. That’s something that works in a battle royal (just like we saw earlier in the year with Myles Borne) as Paxley basically won by accident. It makes things a bit more interesting and lets us have a fresh title match, which is always welcome.

Fatal Influence comes out for the staredown and Lyra Valkyria is here to celebrate with Paxley to end the show.

Overall Rating: C+. This show was kind of all over the place, with none of the matches standing out and all kinds of stuff happening throughout. In this case though, it wasn’t exactly a great show with a bunch of stuff dragging along. Halloween Havoc was set up fairly well, but I could have gone with a better way of getting there.

Results
Josh Briggs b. Matt Cardona – Big boot
El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. b. Lexis King – Michinoku Driver
Blake Monroe b. Zaria – DDT
Hank & Tank vs. Chase U vs. Culling went to a no content when OTM interfered
Tatum Paxley won a battle royal last eliminating Izzy Dame and Jordynne Grace

Smackdown – October 10, 2025: They Should Go To Australia More Often

Smackdown
Date: October 10, 2025
Location: RAC Arena, Perth, Australia
Commentators: Michael Cole, Wade Barrett

We’re on the road (and likely a boat or plane) this week as the show comes to Australia. In addition to being in a special location, we are also about twelve hours away from Crown Jewel, which should mean a strong push towards the pay per view. The Tag Team Titles are on the line as well here so let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

We open with a look at the Crown Jewel titles being flown from Saudi Arabia to Australia for the show. So they can do this but not have them show up on Raw or Smackdown one time?

The men’s Crown Jewel title is in the ring and here is Cody Rhodes for a chat. Rhodes says we can talk about Seth Rollins, who has a doom and gloom thought about their upcoming Crown Jewel match. Then Rhodes heard Paul Heyman talking about the match and maybe Rollins is right. Maybe Rhodes is Rollins’ Achilles heel and maybe getting rid of the Vision is his responsibility. He thinks the people here love WWE (and the fans sing his name) and knows that there are people here who are ready to take this title from him or become the new star of the company.

He’s talking about people like Randy Orton, Rhea Ripley, Roman Reigns, Jey Uso or CM Punk, but he could be talking about Rollins as well. The fans boo and chant something about Rollins. Rhodes says he’s going to need Michael Cole to translate it. Cole has no clue but hands the microphone to Wade Barrett, who confirms the chant is “SETH IS A WA****.” Rhodes (who catches the mic with one hand) says that if the world revolves around Rollins, who is Rhodes in that world? He’s the one wrestler that Rollins cannot beat. This is a weird story, as it’s pretty much all about Rollins and Rhodes is just kind of there.

Chelsea Green comes up to Stephanie Vaquer in the back and offers her a spot in the Secret Hervice. Tiffany Stratton would never get such an offer, and here is Stratton to scare her off. Vaquer and Stratton still seem cool enough with each other before their match.

Cody Rhodes runs into Jacob Fatu, who says they’re cool but he’s coming for the title after Crown Jewel. Rhodes: “Good.” Rhodes leaves and Nick Aldis comes in to say he needs to talk to Fatu tonight. That’s fine with Fatu and Aldis leaves, with Drew McIntyre running in to jump Fatu (there is no way Aldis didn’t see him). Aldis cuts McIntyre off from crushing Fatu with a cart and McIntyre says he needs to talk to him tonight.

US Title: Sami Zayn vs. ???

Zayn is defending against…Shinsuke Nakamura, who is back with his original music and seems to be the good guy version again. Somehow this is the first time the title has ever been defended in Australia. Not even on a house show? They fight over wrist control to start but neither gets anywhere so Nakamura kicks him down. The sliding German suplex in the corner drops Zayn again and we take a break.

We come back with Zayn winning a slugout but Nakamura gets in a suplex. A running kick to the face gives Nakamura two but Zayn springboards over him for a hard clothesline. The Michinoku Driver gives Zayn two and he exploders Nakamura into the corner. It’s too early for the Helluva Kick and Nakamura hits a middle rope knee to the back of the head for two of his own.

We take another break and come back with Nakamura kneeing him in the back of the head to send Zayn outside. An exploder sends Nakamura into the barricade and the Helluva Kick connects outside. Back in and Kinshasa connects but Zayn gets his foot on the rope. Scorpio Rising hits Zayn and Kinshasa is loaded up again…but someone in a hoodie pulls Nakamura to the floor for the DQ at 15:30.

Rating: B. These two have some excellent chemistry together but there is only so much that you can do when about half of the match is cut off by commercials. I do like that we got to see this again before Nakamura leaves WWE though, as he can still do well with just about anyone. Good stuff here, even with the issues holding it back.

And it’s…the returning Tama Tonga, complete with face paint. Cue all three of the MFT’s (all with face paint) to lay Zayn out. Nakamura’s save is cut off and Solo Sikoa strolls around ringside as the beatdown is on.

Drew McIntyre comes up to Nick Aldis, who makes McIntyre vs. Jacob Fatu next week. Fatu comes in and the brawl is on.

Stephanie Vaquer/Tiffany Stratton vs. Giulia/Kiana James

James offers Vaquer a handshake but then knees her in the ribs instead. Not the best business offer there. Vaquer pulls her straight into the Devil’s Kiss and we take a break. We come back with James hitting a running shoulder in the corner and Giulia’s missile dropkick gets two. Vaquer enziguris her way out of trouble though and brings Stratton in to clean house.

Giulia offers a distraction but Stratton kicks James in the face. Back in and a quick northern lights bomb plants Stratton, with Vaquer having to make a save. An Alabama Slam lets Vaquer come back in as everything breaks down. Stratton makes a blind tag as Vaquer dives onto Giulia. That leaves Stratton to Regal Roll James into the Prettiest Moonsault Ever for the pin at 9:29.

Rating: C+. They’re trying with Vaquer vs. Stratton but there is little that can be done to make their Crown Jewel match feel important. It feels like something that is only kind of happening and this didn’t really make it any bigger. I’ll take it over another Nia Jax match, but only by so much.

Post match we get the big staredown.

Charlotte and Alexa Bliss come up to Zaria and Sol Ruca to grant them a Women’s Tag Team Title shot. Ruca and Zaria bump into each other, with the champs saying they have no communication. Charlotte and Bliss turn to leave and go different ways. Bliss: “Charlotte, this way.” Charlotte: “I knew that.” See, that’s how you make people like Charlotte. Instead of talking down to everyone and winning the Women’s Title over and over, she had a funny little moment with her partner that made her look human. Notice how much easier it’s been to watch her with Bliss?

Tag Team Titles: Street Profits vs. Wyatt Sicks

The Wyatts are defending and B-Fab is here with the Profits. The fight starts fast with Gacy being put down and a double flapjack dropping Lumis on top of him. Dawkins Pounces Lumis into the barricade and we take a break. We come back with Dawkins putting both champs on his shoulders (GEEZ) for a double Doomsday Blockbuster. Nikki Cross and B-Fab get into it on the floor, with Ford diving onto Erick Rowan. Back in and Ford misses his frog splash, allowing the Wyatts to hit the Plague and retain at 6:33. Not enough shown to rate but it was action packed while it lasted.

Post match the MFT’s come out for a staredown with the Wyatts and the fans REALLY like this. Nikki Cross gets up close to Solo Sikoa and the MFT’s leave.

We look at Carmelo Hayes and Miz splitting up last week.

Miz blames the split on Hayes, who didn’t want Miz to be the kind of mentor Miz never had. Melo missed.

Video on Damian Priest vs. Aleister Black.

Earlier today at the Kickoff Event, Seth Rollins walked off the stage with nothing to say. Even Paul Heyman seemed stunned.

Crown Jewel rundown.

Aleister Black vs. Damian Priest

Last Man Standing. Priest shrugs off some kicks to start and hammers away in the corner to knock Black outside. It’s already kendo stick time but Black kicks it out of Priest’s hands. That earns him a steps shot to the head and they fight up the aisle as we take a break. We come back with Priest kicking a kendo stick away from Black and whipping him into the barricade.

The steps are brought in and Black trips Priest face first into them, followed by a Meteora onto the steps (that looked good). Priest is up at seven and gives Black Snake Eyes onto the steps. They head outside with Priest being sent into the steps over and over. That’s good for another seven before Priest Pounces him over the announcers’ table. We take another break and come back again with Black having to beat the count for a change. Priest hits him with a kendo stick but Old School is kicked out of the air.

Black finds a chair on the floor but also finds a chokeslam onto the apron. A Razor’s Edge sends Black onto the announcers’ table (which doesn’t give) for nine so Priest does it again. Black kind of stumbles onto the floor, which counts as standing up so we keep going. They fight into the crowd and go to the tech area, where Zelina Vega pops up from the crowd. Priest will have none of Vega’s pleas for mercy but the distraction lets Black throw a fireball in Priest’s face. Black Mass off a crate and through a table gives Black the win at 18:15.

Rating: B. This was two hard hitting people beating the daylights out of each other and that worked well for a main event. I like Black and Vega being paired together as Vega going after the United States Title was beyond played out. This could be the trick that Black needs (it certainly worked for Andrade back in the day) so hopefully everyone can move on.

Black and Vega mock the injured Priest to end the show.

Overall Rating: B+. Rather strong show this week, even with the less than thrilling Crown Jewel being the focus. I liked the refocus on the MFT’s, who are fine as a midcard monster group, as they’ve been away long enough now. Just get us through the pay per view and build on what you did here, as the non-Crown Jewel stuff was quite good.

Results
Shinsuke Nakamura b. Sami Zayn via DQ when Tama Tonga interfered
Tiffany Stratton/Stephanie Vaquer b. Giulia/Kiana James – Prettiest Moonsault Ever to James
Wyatt Sicks b. Street Profits – Plague to Ford
Aleister Black b. Damian Priest when Priest couldn’t answer the ten count

Smackdown – October 3, 2025: Visions Of The Future

Smackdown
Date: October 3, 2025
Location: Heritage Bank Center, Cincinnati, Ohio
Commentators: Michael Cole, Booker T.

We’re just over a week away from Crown Jewel, meaning it’s time to keep going with the build to the champion vs. champion matches. In this case though, we have Cody Rhodes teaming up with Randy Orton to face the Vision, which should make for a heck of a big time match. In addition, we have a contract signing and you know those always go well. Let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

Here is Cody Rhodes for a chat. Rhodes asks what the fans want to talk about but gets cut off by Paul Heyman, with the Vision. Randy Orton runs in to even things out a bit but Heyman hits the catchphrase instead of sending in the monsters. Heyman says they’re here to talk to Orton, who is a hard man to reach.

They knew that they could get Orton here by cornering Rhodes and, after mocking the RKO chants, Heyman moves to tonight’s tag match. Heyman wonders how it’s going to go, as Orton will either be thinking he could be a better champion than Rhodes or Rhodes will wonder where Orton was when they lose. Rhodes vs. Orton is going to happen someday and Wrestlemania wouldn’t shock me.

Miz yells at Carmelo Hayes for not helping him last week. Hayes tells them that this is done, and Miz should be happy because Hayes usually shoots first.

US Title: Sami Zayn vs. ???

Zayn is defending against…Carmelo Hayes, who says they’ve done this before but this time there is no one holding him back. Cue Miz with a Skull Crushing Finale to Hayes though and it seems we’ll need a new challenger.

US Title: Sami Zayn vs. Aleister Black

Zayn is defending and snaps off some armdrags to start fast. Back up and Black scores with a kick to the face to take over, followed by another to the chest. We take a break and come back with Zayn striking away in the corner and clotheslining him out to the floor. A springboard moonsault drops Black again and a Michinoku Driver gives Zayn two. Black goes with another kick though and gets two off a bridging German suplex.

The Blue Thunder Bomb is blocked and Black sweeps the leg into an Oklahoma roll for two. Zayn catches him on top though and gets in a superplex as we take another break. We come back again with Black kneeing him out of the air for two before striking away in the corner. Zayn misses a quick Helluva Kick attempt and gets Meteoraed down for two more. Cue Damian Priest for a distraction though and it’s the Helluva Kick into the Blue Thunder Bomb to retain Zayn’s title at 15:19.

Rating: B. You can almost pencil in Zayn for a good match every time he does one of these things and that’s the right idea. Black is a nice choice for something like this and the ending should set up at least one more big Priest vs. Black match. At the same time, I’m curious to see where Miz vs. Hayes goes, along with whomever Zayn gets to face next.

Post match Priest sends Black through a table.

Chelsea Green and Alba Fyre interrupt Sol Ruca and Zaria with Nick Aldis. Green wants them in the Secret Hervice but gets a match against them instead.

Chelsea Green/Alba Fyre vs. Sol Ruca/Zaria

Fyre backs Zaria into the corner to start but gets choked for her efforts. Zaria’s middle rope clothesline drops Fyre and it’s off to Green, who has about the same luck. Ruca gets two off an X Factor but Fyre gets in a cheap shot so Green can kick Ruca in the face. A gordbuster into a basement superkick gets two on Ruca, who pops right back up with a Sol Snatcher to pin Green at 3:49.

Rating: C+. Oh they know what they have with Ruca, who is coming off as more and more of a star every time she’s out there. She has the look, the athleticism and the charisma to become a big deal. If that continues to build, we very well could be in for a heck of a star run from her in the coming years. Zaria is a bit harder to figure out, but WWE seems to be ready to give Ruca a chance, as they should.

Charlotte and Alexa Bliss are impressed and sure, Ruca and Zaria might get a title shot one day.

We look back at Roman Reigns’ return on Raw.

Cody Rhodes and Randy Orton are cool with each other.

Here is Nick Aldis to run the contract signing between Tiffany Stratton and Stephanie Vaquer. They stare at each other a bit and Vaquer says may the best woman win. Stratton says she’ll win because it doesn’t matter where they are, as it will ALWAYS be Tiffy Time. They both sign and Aldis hypes up the match before Stratton leaves. Cue Kiana James and Giulia to jump Stratton and say Vaquer isn’t a superstar just yet. James offers to represent Vaquer but Stratton is back up to pull James to the floor. Vaquer goes after Giulia, who escapes an SVB attempt.

Earlier today, Je’Von Evans talked to Nick Aldis, who thinks Evans has a big future on Smackdown. Rey Fenix came in to talk to Evans but Los Garza came in to mock them. A tag match was set for tonight.

Jacob Fatu is tired of hearing people whining, which is why he interrupted Drew McIntyre last week. He’s going to the top and McIntyre isn’t stopping him.

Je’Von Evans/Rey Fenix vs. Los Garza

Evans springboards into a rollup for an early two on Berto, who comes back with a dropkick for two of his own. Angel gets a blind tag and catches Evans with a kick to the head but Fenix comes in for a heck of a running flip dive. Evans hits an even bigger dive and we take a break.

We come back with Fenix slipping away from Angel and hitting him with a running shot to the face. Everything breaks down and Los Garza hit a powerbomb/World’s Strongest Slam combination for two on Evans. Back up and Evans kicks both of them down, including knocking Angel outside. Berto’s rollup with the ropes gets two but Fenix makes a blind tag. Evans’ top rope cutter drops Angel, leaving Fenix to hit the MMB for the pin on Garza at 9:09.

Rating: B-. I’m not sure what is next for Evans, but he’s another case where WWE seems to think quite a bit of him and that means he is likely going to be getting a lot more focus sooner than later. While it might be a bit too early for him, he is living up to the hype thus far and that is impressive. Fenix on the other hand is just kind of “the guy who teams with everyone else” and that’s only going to get him so far.

Damian Priest says he is the consequences for Aleister Black. Kit Wilson, in his wheelchair, comes in to call Priest out for his toxicity. Priest sends the wheelchair crashing into various things. He’ll also face Black next week, Last Man Standing.

Tala Tonga loves Solo Sikoa, who thinks there is still something missing.

The Street Profits, with B-Fab, are ready for the Wyatt Sicks next week and they’re fighting for each other. The Wyatts pop up on a screen behind them to point out the issues the Profits have been having.

Randy Orton/Cody Rhodes vs. Vision

Paul Heyman is here with the Vision. Orton and Breakker start things off with Breakker being knocked outside. We take an early break and come back with Orton fighting out of Reed’s chinlock. Reed gets sent shoulder first into the post, allowing the tag off to Rhodes. The Disaster Kick into a suicide dive connects but Reed is up at one back inside.

Breakker gets in a cheap shot from behind though and Rhodes is in trouble for a change. Reed knocks him down again and mocks Roman Reigns’ pose as we take another break. We come back again with Breakker powering Rhodes into the corner for some shoulders to the ribs. Breakker mocks the fans’ RHODES chants before raining down some right hands, mainly because Breakker is an awesome villain.

Rhodes slips out though and drops Reed, allowing the diving tag off to Orton. Powerslams abound but Reed catches Orton with the Jagged Edge. The Tsunami is broken up though and Orton gets in a superplex to Reed, with Breakker breaking it up. Breakker also breaks the barricade with a spear to Rhodes and take him out. Cue Seth Rollins to Stomp Orton, meaning Reed can hit the Tsunami for the pin at 15:16.

Rating: B. This was a good way to go with the main event and it felt like a main event tag match. Rollins coming in to screw Rhodes over makes sense, even if it came by attacking Orton. That’s a logical way to go and now we could be in for Orton getting some revenge sooner than later. Or maybe after Crown Jewel, which is the big deal that WWE is focusing on at the moment.

Post match Rollins wants to go after Rhodes again but Heyman says no, as Rhodes is in his head. Rollins goes in anyway and is promptly Cross Rhodesed to end the show.

Overall Rating: B. This week saw a nice mixture of up and coming stars, plus some matches that helped boost the bigger stories around here. If nothing else, it was nice to see less of a focus on the Crown Jewel Title matches, as those are both pretty much set. The ending was a nice way to go and boosted up Rhodes vs. Rollins without hammering it into the ground again. Rather nice show here, and the future is looking nice around here.

Results
Sami Zayn b. Aleister Black – Blue Thunder Bomb
Sol Ruca/Zaria b. Chelsea Green/Alba Fyre – Sol Snatcher to Green
Je’Von Evans/Rey Fenix b. Los Garza – MMB to Garza
Vision b. Randy Orton/Cody Rhodes – Tsunami to Orton

NXT No Mercy 2025: The Shawn Michaels Show

No Mercy 2025
Date: September 27, 2025
Location: FTL War Memorial, Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T.

It’s another special and the card is looking big enough. We have a nice mixture of title matches and grudge matches, which should make for a nice night. The main event is…well it could be a few different things actually, but in theory it’s Oba Femi defending the NXT Title against Ricky Saints. Let’s get to it.

The opening video is a pretty standard look at the card.

Josh Briggs vs. Je’Von Evans

Evans kicks him in the face to start fast but misses another boot and gets sent over the barricade. With Evans favoring his hip, Briggs sends him over the barricade but Evans is back with a ram into the steps. Back in and a springboard crossbody into a springboard hurricanrana has Briggs in trouble.

Briggs shrugs off a dropkick though and starts hammering away, followed by some backbreakers for two. A hard whip into the corner has Evans in more trouble but he fights out of said corner with the right hands. An enziguri staggers Briggs but he knocks Evans off the apron for a crash to the floor. A right hand seems to wake Evans up and he springs around for a German suplex.

Evans sends him outside for a heck of a dive, followed by a frog splash for two back inside. Briggs goes simple by hitting him in the back of the head for two more. Some big boots and another backbreaker set up a knee to the area near Evans’ head for another near fall. They go up top with Evans flipping out of a super chokeslam but getting caught with the regular version for two.

It’s back to the floor, where Briggs throws him into the ropes for a right hand. Back in and a hard lariat gets two, with Evans making the rope. Evans knees him in the face but a springboard is booted out of the air. The chokeslam is countered into a cutter (ala Randy Orton vs. Undertaker) and the top rope cutter finishes for Evans at 16:24.

Rating: B. Evans has turned me around on him with some of his recent stuff and it has been very nice to see. He’s no longer just someone who does his same basic stuff and has become a high flier who knows how to use his strengths. I got into seeing him take down the bigger guy here and it was a rather nice opener.

We look at Trick Williams vs. Dominik Mysterio at No Mercy 2023. Ok then.

Last night, Kelani Jordan won the TNA Knockouts Title after Ash By Elegance had to vacate the title.

Jordan is excited to be the champion and will fight like heck to keep it.

Lainey Reid is injured but Sol Ruca is still defending the title.

Women’s Speed Title: Sol Ruca vs. ???

Ruca, with Zaria, is defending against….Jaida Parker with a five minute time limit. They start fast and Ruca knocks her to the floor, where we get a mockery of Parker’s stepping taunt. Parker rolls to another part of the floor, where she cuts off a baseball slide and hits her in the face. Back in and a falcon arrow gives Parker two but the Hipnotique is countered into….we’’ll call it a tilt-a-whirl slam but it didn’t hit clean at all.

They head to the apron, where Parker gets in a forearm as we have two minutes left. Ruca reverses a suplex into a DDT for two and they fight outside again with a minute to go. Ruca’s moonsault off the steps misses and the Hipnotique connects but Parker would rather go after Zaria. Cue Lash Legend to go after Parker but Zaria spears Legend. The Sol Snatcher connects back inside to retain the title at 4:43.

Rating: C. The Speed Title is a nice idea that doesn’t work very well with the longer match. No five minutes isn’t a ton of time, but it also doesn’t make for the greatest matches. Parker was a last minute replacement, but it’s not like Reid would have done that much better. This is something that belongs on the pre-show rather than the main card and it showed pretty badly here.

Joe Hendry was disappointed by his most recent loss when Darkstate interrupted to threaten him again. Hendry seems intrigued by what sounded like an offer to join them.

We recap Blake Monroe vs. Jordynne Grace. They were friends for a few weeks but then Monroe turned on her, saying that Grace wasn’t good enough for her. Grace has come after vengeance and now it’s time for a weaponized cage match.

Jordynne Grace vs. Blake Monroe

In a cage with weapons. Grace swings a chair to start but misses, allowing Monroe to come back with some kendo stick shots (Joseph: “Like the Guardians against the Rangers!”). Grace knocks her down though and puts on a Boston crab, with the chair over the back of Monroe’s neck. The chair is wedged into the corner but Monroe sends her into the cage a few times.

Monroe goes after Grace’s injured thumb and then stabs at the hand with a kendo stick. A hairdryer is used to tie Grace’s wrists to the ropes and Monroe hacks off a bunch of Grace’s hair. Grace gets out and unloads on Monroe but the powerbomb is blocked with a grab of the cage. A weightbelt is used to give Monroe a whipping and it’s time for a pink trashcan. That takes too long though and Monroe hits her with the trashcan lid for two.

Monroe pours out a bag of diamonds but Grace manages to suplex her onto them for two instead. They go to the corner with Monroe hitting a double stomp into a trashcan for two. The fans want and receive a table, before the fight heads to the top of the cage. A metal bar shot to the face rocks Monroe but she loads up a powerbomb. Grace blocks that instead and switches into an Air Raid Crash through a table for the pin at 16:48.

Rating: C. This match didn’t know what it wanted to be, as it was designed to be all about the violence and the hatred but then wound up being a lot of less than serious spots. The weapons being pink and featuring stuff like a hairdryer and a bag of diamonds didn’t exactly help either. I’m glad Grace got a bit win, but dang I was wanting something a lot different than this.

Ava announces Invasion, with TNA facing NXT on October 7 in a pair of Survivor Series matches. Also, Darkstate vs. the Hardys, winner take all.

Lash Legend comes out to mock TNA and say she should be the captain of the NXT Survivor but will be back. Lola Vice comes in to say she’s sorry Reid is hurt Series team. Jaida Parker comes out for the brawl…and that’s it.

Lainey Reid is disappointed that she’s injured when Lola Vice comes in to console her. Reid thanks her…but knows Vice is losing anyway.

We look at another No Mercy classic, with Ethan Page beating Joe Hendry in 2024.

North American Title: Tavion Heights vs. Ethan Page

Heights is challenging and rams into him to start, with neither of them going anywhere. They head to the ramp where Page hits a quick backdrop to take over, followed by some elbows to the back inside. A belly to back suplex gives Page two and a regular suplex gets the same, with Page staying on the back. Page gives him a backbreaker onto the turnbuckle (OUCH) for a crash out to the floor.

Heights gets back to his feet and makes the comeback, including something close to a Sling Blade. An ankle lock puts Page in more trouble until he makes it to a rope. The leg is fine enough for Page to hit an Ego’s Edge for two before floating straight into a Boston crab. That’s broken up as well and they go up, with Heights grabbing a sleeper. Page reverses that into a super powerslam, followed by the Twisted Grin to retain the title at 10:19.

Rating: B-. I liked this one a good bit more than I was expecting, though Heights was only so much of a serious threat to take the belt. Page is on a bit of a roll right now and I could see him being something of a replacement Miz on the main roster. For now though, he gets to continue his second reign as a champion and that’s going well enough.

Post match AAA Latin American Champion El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. pops up to say he wants the North American Title.

Myles Borne is glad Lexis King made him tap into a different world. NXT is his family and he’s ready to go to war with TNA. He doesn’t care who comes after NXT, because they’ll be ready to defend their house.

TNA’s Mike Santana is ready to win the TNA World Title back and he’s not the only one in TNA who is ticked off. He’ll be back on Tuesday and he’s not coming alone.

Frankie Kazarian is going to be at NXT on Tuesday too.

From No Mercy 2024, Roxanne Perez b. Jaida Parker.

Women’s Title: Lola Vice vs. Jacy Jayne

Jayne, with Fallon Henley, is defending and Vice is the hometown star. We get the Big Match Intros before Jayne pulls her into a headlock. That’s reversed into a headscissors, which is reversed just as fast. Vice gets another headlock and stays on Jayne, who needs a breather in the corner. Henley offers a distraction and gets nowhere, as Vice is right back with a knockdown into a chinlock.

That’s broken up and they head outside, with Henley offering another distraction so Jayne can knock her into the steps. Back in and Vice fights back only for Henley to offer another distraction. A Backstabber gives Jayne two and we hit the chinlock with a knee to the back. Vice is able to reverse into a crossface, which is stacked up for two and the escape. Some kicks send Jayne into the corner for the running hip attack, with Jayne being sent outside. Vice’s flip dive connects (Henley seemed to take a big hit) but Jayne is back with a pump kick.

Back in and Vice’s spinning kick to the face gets two as Henley pulls the referee out. Henley is ejected but Vice misses a charge into the corner, allowing Jayne to hit a heck of a backfist for two. Vice is back up with a tornado DDT into a guillotine, which is broken up with a ram into the corner. A belly to back superplex into the running knee gives Jayne two and she’s stunned off the kickout.

The title is brought in but Vice rolls her up for two instead. Jayne kicks her in the arm but Vice kicks her in the face. They strike it out until Vice connects with a spinning backfist but falls out to the floor. Cue a woman in a hoodie to knee Vice down on the floor but she beats the count back in. The Rolling Encore retains the title at 18:40.

Rating: B-. I was thinking that Vice was going to win the title here, but at the end of the day, Jayne is in a great place as champion. It makes a lot of sense to keep the title on her, as someone is going to have to take the title from her sooner or later. I’m not sure where Vice is going from here, but she’s going to need a win to bounce back from this one way or another.

TNA’s Moose and Mustafa Ali are ready for the invasion.

We recap Ricky Saints challenging Oba Femi for the NXT Title. Saints has been around for a few months and has done well but he wants the top prize. Femi has talked about being the best of the best and is ready to make the Absolute look mediocre.

NXT Title: Ricky Saints vs. Oba Femi

Femi is defending and powers Saints into the corner to start. Saints gets a boot up to cut him off though and a rollup gets a quick two. A shot to the back has Saints in trouble but he’s up with some chops to slow it down. Saints poses a bit too much and has to slip out of a powerslam, meaning it’s a dropkick to stagger Femi. A running knee sends Femi outside but he’s back in with some Irish Curses to cut Saints off again.

Femi drops him with a clothesline out of the corner and Saints has to beat a count back inside. We hit the chinlock with a knee in Saints’ back, followed by a backbreaker to make it even worse. Saints fights up but springboards into a chokeslam for two. Back up again and Saints tries some running shots to the face, eventually managing to knock Femi down. The spear gives Saints two and it’s time for a double breather.

Femi catches him on top but Saints slips down and powerbombs him out of the corner for another near fall. Back up and Femi gets rolled up for two but he sends Saints flying for a crash. The Fall From Grace is countered into a hurricanrana for two and they knock each other down for another breather.

They go outside, with Femi loading up the announcers’ table, only for the Fall From Grace to be reversed into a DDT. A tornado DDT on the floor drops Femi again but he knocks Saints silly with a single shot. Back in and the Fall From Grace connects for two and Femi can’t believe it. Another Fall From Grace is countered into another DDT and another tornado DDT gives Saints the title at 17:23.

Rating: B. This was the story of Starks trying to fight through adversity because he had something to prove, which is exactly what he had to do. Other than spamming the DDT a bit, the match was put together well and it was definitely a big moment after a show without much in the way of title changes. Femi very well may be on his way up to the main roster too, as there isn’t much left for him to do in NXT.

Saints celebrates to end the show.

Overall Rating: B-. The opener and main event were both good (imagine: Shawn Michaels knowing how to book a match involving smaller wrestlers fighting monsters) but that Speed Title match and the cage match brought the show way back down. There’s nothing on here that is worth going out of your way to see but there is a good chance that this was Femi’s NXT swan song. Overall it’s a fine show, though not exactly a must see event. Check it out if you’re bored at best.

NXT – September 16, 2025 (Homecoming): Welcome Home

NXT
Date: September 16, 2025
Location: Full Sail University, Winter Park, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T.

It’s a special show this week with Homecoming, meaning a bunch of stars of NXT’s past are back around. That’s the kind of thing you kind of have to do when the show is back in its old stomping grounds. We’re also getting pretty close to No Mercy and the show is likely going to get some build here. Let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

We open with a history of NXT at Full Sail, dating back to the HHH with long hair era. The idea was that you were seeing the future, including stars like Seth Rollins, Bray Wyatt, Roman Reigns, the Four Horsewomen and several others. There are all kinds of highlights included here, as NXT has been around for a very, very long time with some great moments.

We get a modernized version of the opening, set to The Roar Of The Crowd. Oh dang that’s a flashback.

Here is HHH to get things going for a special moment and yeah the fans seem to like him. He’s glad to be home and that’s good for a WELCOME HOME chant. This place is something special and for every talent who walked through that….video board (HHH: “I was going to say curtain but there isn’t one.”). He thanks everyone who has helped make this place work, including the fans at home.

The people turned this from a whisper into a roar. They are the ones who said NXT is the future and then they said the future is now. Those same people then shouted WE ARE NXT so HHH is here to say thank you…and here is a dancing Shawn Michaels to interrupt (with the fans singing his song). Michaels: “As I came walking out of that…video board is it?” He thanks HHH for the billion dollar deals and says his current NXT stars are ready to take over. HHH asks what would happen if he wanted to come back to NXT.

Michaels says that would be a very, very big problem….and here’s William Regal to interrupt. After saying there is one way of doing this (and calling out a fan for saying the line before he can, with Regal saying to edit that out), Regal says this means WARGAMES. Cue Charlotte and Alexa Bliss to interrupt, with Charlotte saying it doesn’t matter who is in charge because the women have always run NXT. Charlotte talks about some great women of NXT’s past. And Carmella. Anyway, they have a title match for tonight and if you have a problem with the women, they have two words for you. Very fun opening segment.

Women’s Tag Team Titles: The Culling vs. Alexa Bliss/Charlotte

Bliss and Charlotte are defending. Paxley and Bliss start things off with a doll showdown until Paxley takes her down by the head. They trade poses before Paxley has to escape a quick Sister Abigail DDT attempt. Charlotte (thankfully she’s healed up) comes in but Dame slaps her handshake away. A jawbreaker staggers Charlotte but everything breaks down with the champs hitting stereo running faceplants.

We take a break and come back with a facebuster putting Charlotte in trouble again. She chops away but Dame is right there to cut her off. Stereo big boots leave them both down though and Charlotte gets over for the tag off to Bliss. A running Blockbuster gets two on Paxley and a choke shove puts her down again. Shawn Spears offers a distraction though and Twisted Bliss hits raised knees. Paxley’s rollup with feet on the ropes gets two and the Psycho Trap connects, with Charlotte having to make a save. That means Bliss can hit the Sister Abigail DDT for the pin at 11:21.

Rating: B-. It was interesting to see someone who could match Charlotte in size but this was just about having a pair of former NXT stars making a special return. There was no way the Culling was getting the titles here, but it was nice to have the reunion with the NXT fans. Nice match too, as the pairings made good sense.

Zaria and Sol Ruca argue in the back over their lack of success as a team. Lainey Reid and Candice LeRae come in to argue about which of the two of them will be getting a shot at Ruca’s Speed Title…but Shayna Baszler comes in to tell Ruca and Zaria to fix this. And that’s that.

Carmelo Hayes/Trick Williams vs. DIY

Gargano and Hayes miss rolling kicks to the head to start and the fans are VERY into this. Ciampa (with his face painted) comes in to knee Williams to the floor and Gargano adds a big dive as we take a break. We come back with Ciampa giving Williams a reverse DDT, allowing the tag off to Gargano for the house cleaning. Gargano and Hayes go to the ramp until Gargano sends him back inside for the slingshot spear.

Back in and Williams runs through Ciampa and loads up the Trick Shot but Hayes tags himself in. Hayes hits a spinning faceplant and Williams teases going after him but hits a diving clothesline on Gargano (who seemed to be his target). A springboard Doomsday Device gets two on Ciampa, who is right back with Project Ciampa for two on Hayes.

Williams grabs the title but Ciampa grabs the Fairy Tale Ending. Hayes breaks up Meet In The Middle but gets caught in the Shatter Machine. Meet In The Middle connects with Williams making the save…and the Miz runs in for a Skull Crushing Finale to Gargano on the floor. Back in and Nothing But Net gives Hayes the pin at 10:39.

Rating: B. This was a match that felt big coming in and then it wound up being able to live up to most of the hype. Later in the match was was thinking Miz shouldn’t be happy with his partner doing this kind of thing on his own so points for having the stories come together. It’s also nice to see the newer generation of NXT stars getting a win, as you don’t want a show like this to be dominated by the old guard.

Sami Zayn is glad to be back here and likes what he sees in Je’Von Evans. Josh Briggs interrupts to say Evans is nothing but here is Evans to brawl with Briggs. With that broken up, Zayn tells Evans that the sky is the limit for them and they have to fight.

North American Title: Ethan Page vs. Tyler Breeze

Page is defending and drops Breeze with a running shoulder to start. That lets Page do Breeze’s pose on the ropes so Breeze hits a dropkick and poses himself. Back up and Page hits a heck of a right hand as we take a break. We come back with Breeze fighting out of the Twisted Grin and hitting a running forearm. Page is right back with an Ego’s Edge for two but Breeze wraps his leg around the post and grabs a Hartbreaker.

Back in and a half crab sends Page to the ropes, followed by the Supermodel Kick for two. The Unprettier is broken up so Page goes to the corner, where Breeze pulls him into a Cheeky Nandos Kick. Breeze goes up again but Page cuts him off and hits a hanging Twisted Grin for the pin to retain at 10:33.

Rating: C+. It’s nice to see Breeze come back, as having him put into this kind of a spot is a great flashback, even if it seems like a one off. That’s a nice way to bring someone back and have them put a current champion over. The fans were still in for what Breeze was doing and he didn’t look like he had lost a step.

Post match AAA’s El Hijo de Dr. Wagner Jr. shows up for a staredown with Page.

Tavion Heights is annoyed but Damian Priest comes in to give him a pep talk. He sees a lot of himself in Heights, who is very appreciative. Priest says he’s here for advice too, which Heights seems to want.

It’s time for the Grayson Waller Effect, with Ricky Saints and Oba Femi already in the ring. Waller mocks both of them to start but Femi brushes it off. Femi says Saints can carry as many bags as he likes but he won’t be carrying the NXT Title. Saints asks who Femi is without the title, because all he sees is a pampered athlete. Years ago, Saints gave everything in a tryout to get an automated email saying no, so he’s coming back to get the title, but here is Trick Williams to interrupt.

Femi has something that belongs to him, and he means the title. Waller thinks he’s going to get a winner takes all match set for next week with Femi and Williams, with the winner facing Saints. Waller says TNA wrestlers won’t like it but no one cared about the company until he said the letters. Femi cuts him off and says he’s ready to win both of them.

Wren Sinclair has some ideas to help the No Quarter Catch Crew but Charlie Dempsey says the solution is….he goes to Japan for a month. Bobby Roode pops in to do his pose but Joe Hendry’s name is mentioned and Roode says it was great to see the TNA World Title at Wrestlemania.

Here is Lexis King for a chat. He doesn’t think much of Myles Borne so next week they’re facing off in a Lights Out match…and here is Finn Balor to interrupt. Cue Borne to jump King from behind and the Coup de Grace leaves King laying. Balor was going to be over like almost no other here so there was zero reason to try to make the fans boo him.

Darkstate is here when Montez Ford (on his own) interrupts. Ford mentions the team having targets on their backs and they aren’t happy as he leaves. Kind of an odd segment.

Bianca Belair is here.

Fatal Influence vs. Lyra Valkyria/Rhea Ripley/Stephanie Vaquer

Valkyria is substituting for an injured Tiffany Stratton. Fatal Influence jumps them before the bell to start fast, with Vaquer being sent into the wrong corner. A backsplash gives Nyx two but Vaquer dropkicks her way out of the corner. Valkyria comes in to clean house and for some reason Nyx goes after Ripley. That earns her a superkick from Vaquer as we get some reactions from various TNA wrestlers, who aren’t happy with the lack of respect NXT has been showing TNA. That sounds invasionish as Ripley tosses Nyx onto the other two as we take a break.

We come back with Nyx cranking on Valkyria’s neck, followed by a kick to the chest for two. A double flapjack into a double Natural Selection has Valkyria in more trouble and Ripley is knocked off the apron. Jayne’s running knee gets two on Valkyria and we get more TNA reactions to the title match. Valkyria fights up and brings Vaquer in to wreck the villains. The SVB is broken up and a catapult sends Vaquer into a Nyx Kick for two.

Vaquer fights out again and brings in Ripley so destruction can ensue. Everything breaks down and Valkyria dropkicks Nyx through the ropes. That leaves Vaquer and Ripley to point at Booker and then do stereo Devil’s Kisses (Vic Joseph fans Booker down in a hilarious bonus). Jayne tries to leave but Lola Vice cuts her off and sends her back inside for Riptide and the pin at 10:27.

Rating: B. This was the kind of fun main event that it should have been, as Fatal Influence had as much chance of winning as I did of being Miss Nevada 1972. The double Devil’s Kiss bit was great and the fans loved it, with Booker making it that much better. I had a great time with this and it was exactly the kind of non-serious match match, even with Vice getting involved, that it should have been.

Vice and the winners celebrate together.

Trick Williams and Oba Femi have their staredown, but William Regal thinks the TNA stars are going to cause trouble next week. Williams and Femi don’t seem to mind.

Overall Rating: A-. Excellent show, as they did a very nice job of not making the modern NXT stars look weak. You had the NXT legends show up and help boost up some of the current roster while giving them some wins here and there. This was treated as a big celebration of the history of NXT while also boosting things up. The TNA stuff is an intriguing bonus, so this couldn’t have been much better.

Results
Alexa Bliss/Charlotte b. The Culling – Sister Abigail DDT to Paxley
Trick Williams/Carmelo Hayes b. DIY – Nothing But Net to Gargano
Ethan Page b. Tyler Breeze – Hanging Twisted Grin
Lyra Valkyria/Rhea Ripley/Stephanie Vaquer b. Fatal Influence – Riptide to Jayne

NXT – September 9, 2025: The Go Home Cue

NXT
Date: September 9, 2025
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T.

We are closing in on both Homecoming and No Mercy, with Oba Femi set to defend the NXT Title against Ricky Saints. The big story for this week though is about the Tag Team Titles, with Hank & Tank getting their rematch against Darkstate. The big question might be about who shows up as a surprise before Homecoming though so let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

Here is Je’Von Evans to call out Josh Briggs for a brawl. Ava comes out to make the match and let’s go.

Je’Von Evans vs. Josh Briggs

Evans hits a frog splash for an early two but Briggs is back up to hammer away in the corner. Briggs’ crossbody gets two as the fans are making their dislike of Briggs rather known. Evans fights out of a chinlock and strikes away before low bridging Briggs to the floor. That earns Evans a face first drop onto the apron but Evans flips out of a powerbomb and lands on the apron. A big dive sends Briggs crashing over the announcers’ table and we take a break.

We come back with Briggs having lost his vest and Evans hammering away in the corner. Briggs sends him throat first into the top rope before demanding respect. That’s enough to trigger the comeback but Briggs pulls him out of the air. A flipping Stunner rocks Briggs and a big kick gets two. Briggs lariats him down but Evans flips into a kick to the head. A flipping Coast To Coast hits Briggs, who grabs a chair but has it taken away. Evans goes up and gets punched out of the air to give Briggs the pin at 12:43.

Rating: B-. This was about the big brawl, though the ending came out of nowhere. Evans fighting against these monsters is showing a lot of heart and I could go for seeing him get the big win down the line. For now though, Briggs really needed the win to establish himself as someone who matters, as that has been missing for a long time.

Post match replays show that Briggs had wrapped a chain around his hand. Ah that makes sense.

Ava puts Oba Femi and Ricky Saints on the Grayson Waller Effect next week. Trick Williams comes in to allude to something with Eva and says he hasn’t forgotten Femi. Saints wouldn’t understand the championship business.

Here is DIY, who are celebrating ten years since their debut as a team in NXT. They may be on Smackdown now, but NXT will always be their home. Ciampa knew that his last match in NXT wasn’t really his last match in NXT. He brings up Trick Williams, who of course comes out to interrupt. Last week they got the better of him because it was 2-1 so now it’s time for his NXT crew to even things up.

Cue Carmelo Hayes, who looks at Williams and talks about how Williams has said a lot of things that are true and a lot that are false. DIY built this house and Hayes did the repairs on the house, but Williams needs to learn that rent is due. The next time he gets in the ring, he needs to take his high heels off, sit down and listen while the OG’s talk.

Williams says he wears his heels where he wants to but Ciampa asks which one is the little brother. Hayes wisely points out that Ciampa and Gargano are hardly the ones to talk about friend stabbing each other in the back. That’s shrugged off and the tag match is set up for Homecoming.

Women’s Speed Title #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Lainey Reid vs. Faby Apache

Apache dropkicks her down to start and sends her to the floor for a dive. Back in and Reid gets in a kick to the head as we’re already a minute in. Something like an Edge O Matic drops Reid but a double underhook is broken up with two minutes gone. A dragon suplex gives Apache two but Natalya (in the crowd) offers a distraction, allowing Reid to hit a running knee for the pin at 2:38.

Zaria and Sol Ruca are ready for the #1 contenders match tonight when Hank & Tank come in. Stereo pep talks ensue.

Blake Jordan is in a bathtub and talks about how Jordynne Grace has ruined everything. The Glamour can bleed and come back so now Grace has awakened her.

Tag Team Titles: Darkstate vs. Hank & Tank

Darkstate is defending. Griffin gets crushed to start and the powerslam/neckbreaker combination connects, with Lennox having to make a save less than a minute in. The big double brawl is on and Hank & Tank clear the ring, setting up the double dives. We take a break and come back with Lennox giving Tank a spinebuster for two.

A double spinebuster gets the same, followed by Griffin hitting a powerslam. Tank finally fights out of trouble and it’s off to Hank to clean house. A spinning Downward Spiral gets two on Griffin but the rest of Darkstate gets involved. James says Joe Hendry’s name so Hendry appears, only for Lennox to grab a rollup pin to retain at 10:50.

Rating: B-. This was the match we needed to get out of the way so Darkstate can move on to fresh challengers. Despite Hank & Tank holding the titles for over four months, they didn’t feel like the most serious champions. Darkstate already beat them so now it’s time to move on to someone new, which should be covered here.

Video on the Flag Match, which is basically a game of capture the flag. Tavion Heights and Ethan Page are ready.

Ethan Page seems to recruit Ridge Holland’s help.

Lexis King thinks Myles Borne is blind but Borne comes in, turns off the light, and jumps him with a chair.

Tavion Heights vs. Ethan Page

Non-title. There are flags in the corner and you have to retrieve/wave your country’s flag. Heights powers him into the corner to start and they go outside. Some stomping has Page down but he’s able to catch Heights on top. Ego’s Edge is broken up but Page cuts him off on top again.

They crash down to the mat for a double breather until Page kicks him in the head. Heights gives him a crossbody and they both go for the flags until Page makes a save. That means Heights crashes onto the ropes and out to the floor so Page goes up. Heights crotches him down and hits the belly to belly though, which is enough to get the flag for the win at 6:48.

Rating: C. This was little more than a way to give Heights the win over Page, which should set him up for a title match in the near future. That would be a good thing to add to No Mercy, which very well may be where we’re going. The wrestling wasn’t the point here, so it was nice to keep things moving as there was only so much for them to do.

Post match Heights gets the Canadian flag and drapes it over Page. Then Tyler Breeze of all people shows up for a selfie with the downed Page.

Lola Vice talks about growing up shy and going to see her dad at his tae kwan do school. Everyone in her family is a black belt and has college degrees. She’s ready to win near her hometown. After their videos, she’s going to have to.

Fatal Influence is ready for the triple threat so they can hold all of the titles.

Big preview of Homecoming, including Tyler Breeze getting a North American Title shot.

Zaria/Sol Ruca vs. Fatal Influence vs. Culling

For a future Women’s Tag Team Title shot and under elimination rules. Paxley, Nyx and Zaria start things off, with the former two kicking Zaria down. They trade rollups for two each but Zaria is back in to clean house. Dame comes in but gets hurricanranaed by Henley, leaving us with Dame vs. Zaria. The slugout goes to Zaria but they crossbody each other for the double down. Henley is back in to forearm Dame and Nyx drops her for two more. Ruca comes in with a springboard missile dropkick, setting up her surf spot.

Henley cuts Ruca off though and dives onto Nico Vance, leaving Zaria to dive onto Shawn Spears. Ruca’s twisting moonsault drops the Culling and Ruca poses with Zaria on the barricade as we take a break. We come back with the fans doing the Wave and Nyx breaking up Ruca’s springboard. Zaria gets sent into the steps and Nyx fisherman’s suplexes Ruca for two.

Dame pulls Nyx off the ropes though and it’s a powerbomb/Blockbuster combination to plant her down. Zaria comes back in to clean house, including a nasty Alley Oop to Paxley. Ruca and Zaria are back up with double spears but the Sol Snatcher takes Zaria out by mistake. Nyx steals the pin for the elimination at 12:39. Jayne gets in a right hand to Paxley for two and a catapult sends her into a Nyx kick for two more. Dame and Nyx brawl to the floor, where Henley kicks Dame in the head. Back in and Paxley misses a 450 but Dame hits a powerbomb to pin Henley at 15:02.

Rating: C+. This got some time and the elimination rules made it a bit more interesting. I wasn’t feeling all of it by the end though as it did start to drag, but at least they had a surprise ending. Zaria and Ruca aren’t having the best luck, though I wasn’t expecting the Culling to win here. It’s nice to see someone other than Fatal Influence win here, and it came in a good enough match.

Post match Jayne yells at the rest of the team. We cut to the back where a bunch of cars arrive.

Post break, Jayne keeps up her diatribe, saying the loss is NOT on her and she does not need anything from the fans. She says she’s the greatest Women’s Champion of all time but here is Stephanie Vaquer to interrupt. Vaquer lists off her own success but Jayne points out that there are three of them and one of her.

Cue Tiffany Stratton to talk about what she’s done and how long she has been Smackdown Women’s Champion. Jayne says they’re like the seniors who come back to high school. Stratton doesn’t know if Mami is going to be happy with being called a senior to here is Rhea Ripley. She doesn’t buy what Jayne is saying and the challenge is on for a six woman tag next week. Yeah that’s a big way.

We run down the Homecoming card to end the show.

Overall Rating: C+. This was a weird show, as it was about getting us to Homecoming next week while also having some guest stars this week. It made for a good enough show, with the big trio coming in at the end working well. Next week is really starting to feel bigger than No Mercy, though hopefully it winds up evening out a bit. Either way, nice enough preview for next week’s show, which should be a huge one.

Results
Josh Briggs b. Je’Von Evans – Punch with a chain
Lainey Reid b. Faby Apache – Running knee
Darkstate b. Hank & Tank – Rollup to Tank
Tavion Heights b. Ethan Page – Heights pulled down the flag
Culling b. Zaria/Sol Ruca and Fatal Influence – Powerbomb to Henley

NXT – September 2, 2025: The Loading Screen

NXT
Date: September 2, 2025
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Vic Joseph, Booker T.

We’re inching closer to No Mercy and that means it’s time to have a bunch of people get together to go after Darkstate. That could go in a few different ways, but the bigger issue seems to be Ricky Saints coming after Oba Femi and the NXT Title. Hopefully the rest of the card starts to come together so let’s get to it.

Here are last week’s results if you need a recap.

Lash Legend vs. Jaida Parker

Parker drives her into the corner for some shoulders to the ribs to start. Legend is back up with a slam and splash for two before rattling Parker’s head between the ropes. A rollup into an armbar gets Parker out of trouble and we go split screen to see Je’Von Evans arriving. The Tear Drop is broken up and we take an early break.

We come back with Legend missing another splash and Parker dropping her with a running shoulder. A running Blockbuster gives Parker two and now the Tear Drop can connect. Legend tries to bail to the floor, where she kicks Parker down. Parker gets dropped onto the announcers’ table with the Lash Extension and another one finishes Parker back inside at 11:35.

Rating: C+. This was about two rather strong women beating on each other until the finish, with Legend getting to move forward towards the title picture. Either of them would have made sense, but Legend has been doing some rather great work recently and deserves the chance. Parker needs to get there at some point too though, as she’s rather entertaining as well.

Post match Parker jumps Legend and Hipnotiques her through the barricade. So this isn’t done.

Arianna Grace meets Blake Monroe and believe it or not, they hit it off. Jordynne Grace storms in and Monroe runs, with Kali Armstrong not being pleased with Grace’s intrusion.

Here is Je’Von Evans for a chat. He knows everyone is expecting him to be all positive but he believed he was going to win the NXT Title at Heatwave. Evans feels like he let himself down because he felt like he had it in the bag…but a motorcycle arrives in the back. The gong sounds….and it’s Josh Briggs.

Was Evans expecting someone else? Undertaker wasn’t going to show up with some words of wisdom to save him. Evans is everything that Briggs hates about NXT because Evans should have demanded a rematch from Oba Femi but here he is instead. Evans doesn’t want to hear this but Briggs isn’t done. Briggs says Evans is good, though he’s never beating Femi. A big boot drops Evans and Briggs chokeslams him through an open chair.

Video on TNA’s Xia Brookside, who is here for the Speed Title tournament. Candice LeRae isn’t impressed.

Hank & Tank try to fire up Ricky Saints and Oba Femi for the eight man tag tonight but Saints and Femi aren’t overly interested. Saints tells Femi to be locked in tonight but Femi tells him to worry about himself.

Women’s Speed Title #1 Contenders Tournament First Round: Xia Brookside vs. Candice LeRae

Three minute time limit. Brookside snaps off a headscissors to start and hits a running dropkick. The running knees in the corner set up a Russian legsweep for two as we’re already a third of the way done. LeRae knocks her over the top and out to the floor, only to miss a Lionsault back inside. We’ve got a minute left as LeRae hits a tornado DDT into the Lionsault for the pin at 2:37. I really didn’t need to see this as a regular feature on TV, as it makes me wonder why people take their time in regular matches if they can get wins this quickly. See also most gauntlet matches.

Josh Briggs bullies the locker room but Chase U stands up to him. They’re ready to teach him a lesson, with Andre Chase getting to do it, even if he didn’t seem thrilled.

Fatal Influence comes in to see Ava, with a few women’s tag teams already there. Ava makes a triple threat match for next week with the winners getting a Women’s Tag Team Title shot.

Darkstate isn’t happy with how they have been treated, including how it went on LFG and NXT. They’re not waiting when they have the talent. Good, fired up promo here and it explained the team a lot better.

Here is Trick Williams for a chat. He’s the greatest TNA star of all time and the hottest NXT superstar to ever live. The fans don’t care about him though and he can’t blame them, because when he moves up to Raw and Smackdown, he’s never coming back here. The people the fans love don’t care about them…and here is DIY to quite the reception.

They heard that Homecoming is in two weeks but they wanted to show up early, because it is the ten year anniversary of their NXT debuts. So Williams is supposed to be the best NXT star ever? Well he is a two time NXT Champion….but so is Tommaso Ciampa. They talk about their own success in NXT, though Gargano says his partner got a bit grumpy at the end of shows.

Gargano talks about the people who have walked that aisle, like a demon, a hugger, the undisputed and the glorious, who were pretty great in their own right. Ciampa says two guys bled black and gold and defined an era but Williams says they were great. The problem is Williams is just that much better. The fans chant for Carmelo Hayes and Williams shoves Ciampa, earning himself Meet In The Middle. This was a cool moment and DIY felt like returning legends.

Ava says if Je’Von Evans doesn’t interfere tonight, he can face Josh Briggs next week.

Video on Evolve Women’s Champion Kali Armstrong.

Tavion Heights gives Ethan Page the Canadian flag back and says he’s cool with Canada, but not one specific Canadian. The result is a flag match next week.

Kali Armstrong vs. Jordynne Grace

Non-title. Armstrong stomps away in the corner to start and hits a running shoulder to the ribs. Grace strikes away to come back before grabbing the camel clutch. That’s shrugged off and Armstrong sends her into the corner as we take an early break. We come back with Grace sending her into the corner again (they really like that move). The Grace Driver is blocked and Armstrong hits a powerslam for two. The Kali Connection (running shoulder) is blocked as well and the Grace Driver finishes at 7:50.

Rating: C+. I’m not sure how smart it is to put Armstrong out there for a loss, but also against another powerhouse. The idea is that Armstrong is incredibly strong, but that only works so well when she’s in there against someone like Grace. The match wasn’t bad and it’s far from a stretch to have Grace win, though I’m still not wild on a champion losing clean.

Post match Blake Monroe comes out for the brawl and security has to break it up. Monroe is busted open and seems shaken up by the whole thing.

Video on Lola Vice, who is back at her childhood home in Miami. Family means a lot to her and she’s glad to be back for a rare visit. Her family is rather proud of her. To be continued. These vignettes always work.

Andre Chase vs. Josh Briggs

Briggs runs him over to start but Chase is back with a kick to the floor. That earns Chase a drop onto the apron though and we take a break. We come back with Chase getting two but having to fight out of a superplex attempt. A Boss Man Slam sets up a suplex but Chase is back with a Stundog Millionaire. The high crossbody gives Chase two but Briggs chokeslams and hits a big boot for the pin at 7:21.

Rating: C+. I get the idea of pushing the new monster, but dang it’s sad to see Chase fall this far. He was the hottest thing in NXT for awhile and they just stopped everything they had with him. Now he’s doing nothing but jobbing and trying to relieve the past. Hopefully they find something else for him, because this is rather sad.

Post match Briggs beats up Chase U.

Trick Williams will see DIY next week.

Ricky Saints/Oba Femi/Hank & Tank vs. Darkstate

Shugars hammers on Hank in the corner to start and it’s off to Lennox for a running clothesline. Tank comes in and elbows James in the corner before handing it off to Saints for the arm cranking. Old School seems to annoy Femi, who comes in to stay on James’ arm. Femi teases tagging Saints but then does Saints’ pose to a rather big reaction. Everything breaks down and James is left alone, meaning it’s a four way crushing as we take a break.

We come back with Hank getting beaten down and Griffin grabs the chinlock. Back up and Tank saves Hank from a whip into the corner, allowing Tank to get the needed tag. Saints adds a springboard tornado DDT as everything breaks down. Femi tosses Shugars to Saints for a powerbomb but Saints and Femi get in a fight of their own. They fight to the back, leaving Darkstate to load up the triple bomb. Tank makes the save but James grabs Hank by the throat. Hank summons Joe Hendry, whose distraction lets Hank & Tank hit the powerslam/running shoulder combination to pin James at 11:52.

Rating: B-. The ending was a bit dumb with Darkstate looking pretty weak, as they couldn’t win despite having a 4-2 and then 4-3 advantage. I guess they had to get to Hank & Tank’s rematch though, because we just haven’t seen enough of the team. Femi and Saints brawling off is fine, as their match should be quite the showcase when we get there.

Saints and Femi have to be separated in the back to end the show.

Overall Rating: B-. This show started setting up No Mercy in a bigger way and I’m curious to see what else we’re getting. You can probably guess most of what is going to happen but this was a nice step forward towards the show. DIY’s special appearance was a great bonus and it has me wondering who else is going to show up for Homecoming. Good show here, with some stuff being set up for the next big night.

Results
Lash Legend b. Jaida Parker – Lash Extension
Candice LeRae b. Xia Brookside – Lionsault
Jordynne Grace b. Kali Armstrong – Grace Driver
Josh Briggs b. Andre Chase – Big boot
Hank & Tanks/Oba Femi/Ricky Saints b. Darkstate – Powerslam/running shoulder combination to James

NXT – August 26, 2025: The Future Is Now

NXT
Date: August 26, 2025
Location: Capitol Wrestling Center, Orlando, Florida
Commentators: Booker T., Vic Joseph

We’re done with Heatwave and the big story seems to be Ricky Saints coming after Oba Femi’s NXT Title. That should make for an interesting story as we are less than a month away from No Mercy, which already has a title match set. Lola Vice will be challenging Jacy Jayne for the Women’s Title at the event after earning the shot this weekend. Let’s get to it.

Here is Heatwave if you need a recap.

We open with a recap of Heatwave.

Here is Ricky Saints to get things going. Saints says he will always put his money behind Je’Von Evans but Oba Femi stopped Evans at Heatwave. He has done quite a few things around here but there is one thing he still wants. That is the NXT Title, but here is Josh Briggs to say not so fast. Briggs wants the title shot first so Saints says he’s right here in front of him and is ready to fight. Ava comes out to say we need a new #1 contender so the match is on for tonight. Simple and to the point here.

After Heatwave, where Blake Monroe beat Jordynne Grace, Monroe told Ava that she wanted the Women’s Title. Kelani Jordan came in to say not so fast, so Ava made their match for later.

Kelani Jordan vs. Blake Monroe

Jordan snaps off a dropkick to start and they trade rollups for two each. A running dropkick gives Monroe two and she grabs a flipping armbar. That’s broken up and Jordan hits some clotheslines into a cartwheel elbow, followed by an X Factor to send Monroe outside. Cue Jordynne Grace to chase Monroe, who can’t escape this time. Jordan grabs something like an Angle Slam into One Of A Kind to finish at 4:17.

Rating: C. Jordan is an interesting case as she is certainly athletic and getting somewhere with what she’s doing, but she’s going to need some adjustments if she’s going to move up the card. The good thing is that the groundwork is there and she’s definitely ahead of a large portion of the roster. As for Monroe…I’m not sure why this is still going so soon after beating her clean on Sunday.

Video on Lexis King vs. Myles Borne, with King accusing Borne of faking his deafness.

Lexis King vs. Myles Borne

Blindfold match, with Borne explaining that he needs the fans to guide him when he can’t see. After a few early misses, they manage to lock up before King misses some right hands in the corner. Borne is able to hit his dropkick for two, leaving King to miss a charge out to the floor. Borne throws him back inside and avoids a dropkick but King gets in a slam. The elbow misses though and they slug it out from their knees. They grab hands and slug it out until King backs him into the corner. King grabs the referee and pokes him in the eye, allowing King to pull up the mask. A low blow and the Coronation finish Borne at 4:55.

Rating: C. The key thing here was keeping the match short or the idea was going to get old fast. That’s what we got here, as King went with the obvious cheating. It’s how this should have gone and lets Borne look like he got cheated. At some point they’ll have a rematch and Borne can get a big win one way or another, which is what matters most.

Wren Sinclair is panicking over having to face the Culling because she doesn’t have a partner, but Charlie Dempsey has found her a partner: Kendal Grey. Sinclair is relieved and Grey agrees to help Sinclair, but slaps Dempsey.

Wren Sinclair/Kendal Grey vs. The Culling

Dame misses a big boot to start and Kendal grabs her by the waist, meaning it’s off to Sinclair. Dame pulls her into the wrong corner, allowing Paxley to come in for a bodyscissors. Back up and Dame tags herself back in before Paxley can try a moonsault. Sinclair’s rollup gets two but Dame gives her a Sky High (as Grey has Paxley tied up) for the fast pin at 3:30.

Rating: C+. The idea was to have the Culling not exactly working together as Dame seems to treat Paxley as little more than a goon. That’s only going to work for so long as Paxley just wants a friend and is not going to accept being used again. Sinclair and Grey were just two people thrown together, but Grey seems to be getting at least a look on the bigger roster.

Josh Briggs vs. Ricky Saints

For the NXT Title shot at No Mercy. Saints chops away to start but gets caught with a running elbow. The Boss Man Slam gives Briggs two and we’re off to the early chinlock. Back up and Saints starts working on the arm, setting up a strutting Old School. They head outside with Briggs getting posted as we take a break.

We come back with Briggs hitting a crossbody for two but Saints’ Falcon Arrow gets the same. Briggs kicks him in the face for two and hits the chokeslam for two more. Starks is back up with a quick headscissors into a reverse DDT, followed by the springboard tornado DDT for the pin at 12:46.

Rating: B-. Saints getting the shot is the more interesting call, though I was thinking Briggs might have gotten a televised title shot before we went there. Either way, this sets Saints up as a much bigger match as he’ll get his shot in a featured setting. The good thing about Saints is that he feels like a legitimate threat to take the title and that has been lacking for Oba Femi for a good while.

Lola Vice, Sol Ruca and Zaria are all friends with matching shirts before their six man tag tonight. Jaida Parker comes in to congratulate Vice on the win, though Vice isn’t convinced. Lash Legend comes in to argue with Parker, leaving Zaria to lift Vice a few times.

Post break, Ricky Saints is still in the ring when Oba Femi comes out for the staredown. Saints believes that Femi is starting to feel the pressure of being the champion and promises to take the title. Femi says he’ll prove that Saints is average but here is Darkstate (the new Tag Team Champions) to interrupt. They are ready to fight but here are Hank & Tank to help hold them off.

Video explaining the Speed Title, which has a three minute time limit. The tournament to crown a new #1 contender starts next week.

Alba Fyre vs. Tyra Mae Steele

Chelsea Green, Piper Niven, Ethan Page and Tavion Heights are here too. Steele starts fast with a suplex and then grabs the legs and rolls around. Fyre’s legs are fine enough to come back with a superkick to the floor, allowing her to stand on Steele’s hair back inside. A knee and DDT give Fyre two and Steele grabs an ankle lock. Page offers a distraction but gets his hand stomped, allowing Steele to roll Fyre up for the pin at 4:19.

Rating: C. As was the case on Sunday at Heatwave, the theme recently has been giving some fresh stars a chance. That’s what we’re seeing here with Steele, who is getting her feet wet against someone like Fyre, who is a rather polished star. I’m not sure how well it’s going to go but at least they’re giving her a chance as she has to start somewhere.

Post match Green goes after Steele but Heights comes in for the save. Page decks him with the belt though and cover him with the Canadian flag.

Hank & Tank come in to ask Ava for a fight with Darkstate, which they receive…in an eight man tag, also involving Oba Femi and Ricky Saints.

Jacy Jayne is mad about losing the TNA Knockouts Title and Fatal Influence argues over who should get the Speed Title.

Here’s what’s coming next week.

Lola Vice/Zaria/Sol Ruca vs. Fatal Influence

Ruca and Henley trade rollups to start until Henley grabs a swinging suplex, allowing Nyx to come in. A leg lariat puts Ruca down but she’s right back up with a Paisan elbow with Zaria. Zaria’s middle rope clothesline drops Nyx for two more and it’s already off to Vice vs. Jayne. Vice’s cross armbreaker doesn’t work so Jayne hits a hard clothesline for her own near fall.

Back up and it’s off to Ruca to chop away at Henley, setting up the surfing spot in the corner. Ruca gets knocked outside though as Lainey Reid is watching from the balcony and we take a break. We come back with Ruca hitting a Codebreaker to the arm but Jayne cuts off the tag attempt. Jayne stomps Ruca down in the corner but she’s right back up, allowing the tag off to Zaria.

House is quickly cleaned and Ruca’s handstand spinning top rope splash gets two. The villains drop Ruca again so it’s off to Vice for the running hip attacks in the corner. Fatal Influence’s stereo running knees drop Vice for two with Ruca making the save. Everything breaks down and Ruca hits the Sol Snatcher, leaving Vice to spinning backfist Henley for the pin at 14:15.

Rating: B-. This was what it needed to be as Vice is getting closer to the title shot and beating one of Jayne’s partners is a nice way to start. Vice very well may be the one to take the title off of Jayne while the other two are going to come after Ruca and the Speed Title. It makes for an interesting couple of stories, and that should be enough to bridge the gap to No Mercy.

A quick preview of No Mercy and next week’s show wrap us up.

Overall Rating: C+. This show was about moving on from everything at Heatwave and starting the fairly rapid fire build towards No Mercy. That’s what the show needed to be and they hit the ground running, with the NXT Title match already being set up. I’m curious to see what else winds up on the show, but at least they’re off to a good start.
