What’s Your Favorite Wrestling Company?

Very simple question here: of all the wrestling companies that you’ve ever seen (doesn’t have to have been live/at that time), what is your favorite? It could be anything from WWF/E to WCW to the old NWA to WCCW to TNA to ECW to some local company to some foreign company. What’s your pick? This shouldn’t shock anyone, but mine is WWE.  It’s what I grew up on and it’s what I watch to this day.  They have incredibly talented guys who use a lot of psychology in their matches and they work for the most part.  Good stuff, although i can easily understand people getting sick of them at times.

My favorite company is easily WWE. They are what got me into wrestling and I’ve always watched them since I was a little kid. Just watching the stuff they did always intrigued me since I was a little kid and I’ve been a fan ever since. WCW I got hooked on for a little while mainly due to it’s cruiser weights. It was just something so unique and fun to watch. TNA was my favorite promotion from 2007 to early 2010. They just offered a different form of entertainment from the WWE and I really loved it. Finally I have to throw New Japan into my list of favorites. They have really helped me get back into wrestling. From 2010- early 2011 I had lost almost all my interest in wrestling. I’d still watch Raw and sometimes Impact but mainly just because it was the norm for me.In fact I don’t think I bought a single PPV during that time. Then one day I decided to watch Wrestle Kingdom V just for the fun of it. I watched it and really liked what I saw so then I went and watched a little show called Fantasticamania. I ended up loving it. The show was just so much fun and feautured some of my favorite current wrestlers such as La Sombra, Prince Devitt, Kota Ibushi, Kenny Omega and many more. From then on I was hooked. So my rankings for promotions probably goes 1.WWE 2.NJPW 3.WCW 4.TNA

Well WWF/E is my Favorite Company hands down as well. I grew up with it when Hulk Hogan & Ultimate Warrior were the Faces to Bret Hart & Shawn Micheals to SCSA & The Rock and to now. They are Wrestling/Sports Entertainment and it has such a rich History.

Behind the WWE I guess my second one would be WCW as I found them about 1992-1993. They had an Awesome Roster and took off when they debuted Monday Nitro. By the Fingerpoke Of Doom incident though and the nWo reforming I had enough. I would check in a little bit during the Russo Era and the last Nitro.

I watched a little ECW but they were so hard to find on TNN and I have a new respect for them after the Rise & Fall DVD in 2004. I also watched some of SMW (Smokey Mountain) and some of the other smaller Promotions back in the Early-90’s.

I do watch TNA but at times I just cannot stomach alot of the stuff they do. I have watched some of the Pre-Hogan stuff and damn they were alot better before he got there.

The WWE, hands down. People like to bash them because they like to market themselves as “Sports Entertainment” with not enough emphasis on the “Wrestling” aspect. Well, to be honest, if it wasn’t for the great stories that are told inside and outside the ring, and the drama that comes with it, I probably wouldn’t be a fan. Like you said, the WWE has more “Psychology” then all other major wrestling organizations, as there’s usually a story behind most moves/matches. I find that puro/ROH type companies that most of the IWC adore, are heavily overrated. The major no-selling and absurd amount of strikes are heavy turn-offs to me. If you like that stuff, I can understand ( You should see the stuff I enjoy, I.E. Any 90s Undertaker Match) but I find that those types of matches are all style and no substance.
