Payback 2013 Predictions

This is an interesting show in that the card looks good on paper but when you think about how things have been built up it’s hard to care at all about it.  The shows leading up to it have been dominated by HHH vs. Vince vs. Axel with Axel being a pawn in the entire thing.  A challenge to you: explain in two coherent sentences what the Vince vs. HHH feud is about.  If it takes you more than ten seconds, it’s too complicated a story.  As for the rest of the show, it really pales in comparison other than the Shield stuff.  Let’s get to it.Sheamus will beat Damien Sandow because that’s what he does.  Nothing else to say.

Starting with the main event, I’ll go with Cena over Ryback.  This match is designed to have Cena go over a monster and look strong in the process.  The fact taht Ryback will have lost for the tenth straight month of PPVs in a row is an afterthought but Ryback means nothing anyway.  Cena wins the first fall, Ryback wins the second, Cena wins the third.  There’s nothing much to the match but it should be a fun garbage brawl.

Punk returns for the win to a big reaction from the hometown fans.  The interesting questions here are whether Punk shows up as well as what reaction Jericho will get.  Punk will clearly be the top star there, but can you imagine a bunch of smarks booing Chris Jericho?  The match should be awesome and Punk coming back is a big deal so this should be good.

I’ll take Shield to keep all of their titles with Orton taking the fall for the challengers.  Bryan is on fire but a tag title would be back to what he’s been doing for the better part of a year.  Kane will be a good first victim for Ambrose in his title reign.  The matches should be good and they’ve been well built up over the last few months.

Axel to win the title, which will be yet another death knell in his WWE run.  Miz continues to be nothing special in his face role, although I am glad to see the Skull Crushing Finale making a comeback.

AJ wins the title she should have won six months ago.

Ziggler retains the title as well to finally finish Del Rio.

Overall Payback should be entertaining but the numbers are going to SUCK.  No one is interested in the show because the world title has been a complete afterthought, making Punk vs. Jericho the default main event.  I don’t think anyone gives Ryback a chance but he has been doing better with his promos lately.

    Your right stormy.

First off I’ve already explained why I don’t like it.

As for why I don’t allow it to entertain me, it’s because I don’t find HHH and Vince spending 8 segments over three hours building to a hug on Raw to be entertaining. I didn’t care when HHH’s head injuries happened and he toughed it out (while Dolph Ziggler has a real concussion and misses time, making him look like he isn’t tough enough to fight like HHH), I didn’t care when Stephanie begged HHH to be there for Vince and the children, and I don’t care when they bicker over whether or not HHH will face Axel.

It’s two men arguing over whose ego is bigger while no matches are going on. If that to you is entertaining then good for you, but I’d rather watch people who aren’t hogging the spotlight because they can.

That make enough sense for you or do I need to simplify it even more?

Dear goodness you amuse me. I can see the steam coming out of your ears from here.

    • stormy says:

How can you see something that isn’t there. I’m not even angry. I was having fun proving someone wrong who refuses to admit it.

      • Thomas Hall says:

My standard response to you: whatever gets you to sleep at night.

        • stormy says:

          Whatever asshole.

Seriously though, why don’t you try actually explaining why you have such a bias against this feud. If you’re gonna make sure to mock the thing at every pass, at least make it known why you hate it. Did the feud kick your dog or something? I mean dang. It’s a compelling feud, an idea that has not been really done in a long time. If you watched the show and the story instead of bitched nonstop you’d actually not only like wrestling, but enjoy life as a whole a lot better.

Basically, instead of being an asshole, why don’t you actually allow the entertainment to actually entertain you.

        • chris says:

Mostly because at this stage Triple H more often than not, is not entertaining. He’s a 41 year old man still trying to prove he’s the biggest bad ass around.

  6. Thomas Hall says:

Oh I think I could come up with a comeback.

    1. If Vince doesn’t want HHH to wrestle, why did he suggest HHH wrestle tomorrow night? Sounds like a hole in your answer to me.

    2. If they’re angry, why did they hug?

    3. You didn’t even mention Stephanie who is in this story as well.

    4. Learn the definition of “rhetorical question.”

    • stormy says:

      1. Because after much arguing Vince relented. He also knew that Triple H would backtrack that because Triple H was angry and didn’t want to let Vince win.

      2. Because Vinces Daughter (who is HHH’s wife) said to. It was so obviously forced that you have to be insane to think otherwise.

      3. No because she’s hardly a major player. Vince and HHH are the major players in the feud and Stephanie is being dragged along. Besides, you mentioned the HHH/Vince storyline, not the HHH/Vince/Stephanie storyline.

      4. Sure it was rhetorical, but there was an answer and you keep acting like the story is so confusing and doesn’t belong on TV that it needed answering, which I have answered twice now.

  7. chris says:

Why is he angry? Why won’t Vince let Triple H wrestle? Why is this somehow the focus of raw?

    • stormy says:

      1. HHH is angry because Vince stopped his matches. You’d be angry too, considering it resulted in 2 losses to an inferior performer.
      2. Vince won’t let HHH wrestle because he was concerned for his son in laws health, and because he can since it’s his company. And because he’s pissed at the fans for treating WWE like a bloodsport.
      3. Because Vince was the focus of RAW when it was at its highest peak in history (A/K/A the Attitude Era, which was Vince vs. Austin). Because Triple H is Triple H, one of the greatest wrestlers of all time. Because if it wasn’t him it would be Cena and the same people would complain that Cena is the focal point of RAW. If Jesus Christ himself came to RAW and was the focal point everyone would complain.

Again, it’s simple logic. Everyone tries to over-complicate things and then complain that it’s too complicated. Just relax for a minute, watch the show, and you’ll realize that it’s so simple to understand.

      • Thomas Hall says:

3 paragraphs isn’t simple, which is the point of this whole thing.

        • stormy says:

I explained the story in 2 sentences. Are you stupid or something? Can you not let that go? You made a stupid challenge, I answered it, and you want more because you can’t admit defeat.

You can say the same thing with virtually any feud in the history of professional wrestling. A brief 2 sentence synopsis does not explain everything under the sun. When someone wants answers (1 of which was unrelated to the story and more about the performers) you explain it further.

Fine, you want another 2 sentences? Vince stopped HHH’s matches because he’s worried about his health. HHH doesn’t like that and is angry. That took 5 seconds. Not even. And it answers all the questions relevant to the storyline.

  8. stormy says:

“A challenge to you: explain in two coherent sentences what the Vince vs. HHH feud is about. If it takes you more than ten seconds, it’s too complicated a story. ”

Vince won’t let HHH wrestle. HHH is angry.

That took 3 seconds, not even. I don’t get what’s so hard to understand about that.

    • Thomas Hall says:

I knew it would be you. I just knew it.

      • stormy says:

Yeah I’m the only one with a brain that can comprehend simple logic.

        • Thomas Hall says:

You’re also the only person who missed the point of what I was saying.

        • stormy says:

I took your “challenge” and completed it. It wasn’t at all a challenge, as that was entirely easy. I used 2 sentences to explain a very simple storyline, and you’re unable to use a comeback or any sort because there is no comeback, I explained it perfectly, and you realize you’re wrong yet can’t stop because you have a hardon for HHH bitching.

I explained why there is no reason to complain, yet that’s all you do about HHH/Vince. I don’t get it. It’s the boss of the company and the next boss of the company. One is messing with the other. How hard is it to understand that feud?

  9. M.R. says:

Why bother buying PPVs anymore when most of these matches are given on free TV.
