Fact Correcting WWE

Tonight on Raw we’re hearing about great champions of the past who have held the World Heavyweight Championship.  The title that Alberto Del Rio holds has NOTHING to do with the WCW or NWA World Titles other than having the same design.  The history and lineage of the belts aren’t connected and the WHC started in 2002.  Totally different titles.

Technically WWE is correct in a way……Eric Bischoff gave it to Triple H. Eric ran WCW. In his mind he was handing him the WCW title that Jericho had previously unified with the WWF title. I can see their viewpoint.

Although I see now that it starts in 2002. I know at one point they were claiming the lineage much further back than that. I used to scope those title histories and tried to memorize them. Also they released a history of the World Heavyweight championship dvd that did in fact, include much of the big gold belt’s nwa/wcw legacy.

It’s incorrect. That’s really all there is to it.

I can go shoot a moose, mount it on my wall and say I’m the moose’s second uncle twice removed by marriage but it doesn’t make it the case.

They’ve listed the title history on wwe.com for years with the lineage dating back to the wcw days. If the wwe says it is, isn’t it? I mean they own the title, the tapes and the lineage. I understand what you are saying and technically you are right, but in the end the big E has the final say.

You’ve gotta admit, highlighting old NWA/WCW clips is alot better than the clip of Ric Flair literally handing the belt to Triple H.

I won’t believe it until they mention Chris Benoit.
